I was seeying the other video about the road trip and first thing, instead of your normal videos where you are very composed (almost a bit corporate...not criticising but its the look very informative and planed) i saw you more like in vacation, very happy to see u in that mood, now I see you had to partly cancel, but hey plenty of chances to get again in that run... Second thing I thought is "here are this americans enjoying the very good areas to enjoy" i say in the good way, i am portuguese now with 53, live in lisbon metropolitan area but I am from a small interior city Castelo Branco, so I like nature, I need it and from when I was a child I had the lucky that my parents always traveled imensely and they carried me and my 2 brothers to every trip in by car , so road trips, they are the best, you are free to choose where to go and where to spend more or less time, you see much more than plane traveling, you get the real sense of dimension and landscape of countries. I even can say has I traveled for a lot of europe places , other continets and even American where now one of my brothers is there a top scientist, that living in Portugal to do road trips to Spain witch has a lot but a lot of good places like san sebastian, you can go to Andorra, the little country between france and Portugal, and then like I did just one week ago a road trip with my brother to the Pirineus and to the city of Paul france to check in of some places in the pirineus that are very high and huge to explore, BUT france is the Garden of Europe, its for us the best or one of the best palces to visit, its amazing from north to south even litlle town is almost all enchantig...as you probably know France and Spain are the top countries visited in the world its not by coincidence, so very good being in Portugal and having the chance to go around the iberian peninsula and the amazing france is to be smart that is what my experience has given me, of course not only this but here you will never never run through everything, even now I see beatifull new places with history, landscape, super good hikes, moutains, beatches, and very relaxed people well behaved and very safe to be in. Just enjoy...whish you recover from the food poisoning...never had one in my entire life, but well bad luck hapens. keep the good videos, show a bit more than just the room you setup the episodes!!! my recomendation to you in summer run to north of spain, my parents with 77 that is now what they do to run from extreme heat, I recomend GIJON you will love it, less main stream tourism, there are but lets say more refined casual tourism...its like san sebastian but more recluded although summer is summer so hotels will be complete to. so plan!
I was going to say, you should travel there in a different month. In Your previous video you stated, they summer hard. Had to chuckle as of course it’s August in Europe. The entire continent summers hard in august. lol. Maybe Brittany is a better choice for August travel?
We normally travel in the fall or spring, but we tried August because that’s prime time for renting out our place in Nazaré, which allowed us to rent in France and offset the cost with the rent we were getting in Nazaré. Probably won’t travel again in August :)
Thanks and, yes, feeling good now. We love staying in AirBNB’s but one of the risks is that booking a place that has a “strict” policy on cancelation or changes means it’s non- refundable, so even though we left a few days early we paid for the entire time. We generally book at AirBNBs with more flexible policies but didn’t this time. It’s all good, though!
Yep, we moved our dog to Portugal. There is a process (exam, different microchip, USDA certification, exam at the airport in Portugal before you can leave) but it’s possible. We put him in with the luggage on our relocation flight, but some airlines no longer allow it and require a professional pet moving company to be involved (Delta), but it all worked out.
Thanks for the video... Just wondering, hopefully maybe your next video but just wondering about the cost of your trip compared to where you live in Portugal? Comparable, more expensive? Cheaper? For food and drinks. Just the daily$$$ besides accommodations?
Thanks for watching @upcycledcopycat8389 and it was more expensive in Arles than where we are in Nazaré…restaurants were probably 50% more expensive, groceries varied but some things were more expensive (dairy, produce, coffee) and others were about the same (bread, wine). Gasoline/petrol was maybe 10% more expensive in Provence. I don’t know if it’s always that way or if it was high-season pricing but generally speaking, I’d put costs at 30-50% higher than Portugal….on par with many U.S. cities (maybe not NYC).
This channel is incredible. You guys are doing so well. Is anyone else here inspired to RUclips but still scared? 😫
Thanks so much @gil_ferro and you just need to take the leap!

Loved the old timey effect on the first part of your video! Cracked me up. Great channel, I just found you tonight and have subscribed 😊

Hope you’re feeling better now. Was your air bnb host accommodating with your need to leave early ?

Moving pets to Portugal?

@@TheUnretirees ... Thanks for the info.
Arles is pronounced "Arl".
There we go. Thanks @PamelaWarr.
