He actually had a somewhat decent relationship with Mr. Lancer later on in a Technus episode. I wish the show had expanded more on it but I guess they enjoyed that “bad teacher who hates all students but the protagonist especially” trope from Fairly Oddparents.
most projects turn out this way, the creator is like the backbone of a project, i would know i had a big animation project thing with about 600+ people (actually only 30ish contributed to it lmao) i resigned from it because i wasn't satisfied with it anymore and it kinda is flopping
Danny Phantom was one of the most unique animated shows of all time. Danny was a great protagonist (for the most part) and Vlad was a compelling villain.
Jayton S. I also loved how interconnected Danny and Vlad were, both due to Danny’s parents and that they were both hybrid ghosts so they really understood each other on that level.
Agreed. Love Danny Phantom and the villains and Danny’s friends and family. Vlad is one of my most favorite villains. Also love Freakshow (voiced by Jon Cryer who played Duckie from Pretty In Pink (80’s movie)) Ember Undergrowth (Voiced by Mark Hamill who also voices characters like the Joker) Walker Skulker Youngblood Box Ghost (XD) Tecknis Dark Danny- or Dark Phantom Johnny 13 and his shadow Desiree Lunch Lady and more.
Vlad was a person who had everything expect the woman he loved. When he found out Danny was a fellow hybrid, he become another thing Vlad wanted. If feel like Vlad could have been a much better person if he had his way
@@Joawlisdoingfine We saw he treated his family pretty badly when he went back in time, but I kinda agree. If Danny and Vlad were a bit friendlier, then I feel like he could've been a pretty good antihero. but that being said he's an amazing character as is
@@Joawlisdoingfine I think it’s a Superman/Lex Luthor relationship in a way, despite being an idiot, Jack has everything that Vlad really wants, a life filled with a loving family. Because of Vlad’s pride and hubris he will always seek to prove that he’s the one who deserves what Jack has
@@anjailbakeer Gotham doesn't hate Batman though. In the New 52 reboot, they were initially worried that he was pretending to be a vigilante and possibly dangerous...But it's DC Comics...Superman and Batman are their posterboys for Truth, Justice, etc, etc.
If anything, I think Alex Hirsch would be able to give DP a worthy revival. He'd be able to make the show appropriately dark, while also staying true to the canon and handle the characters well.
i won't lie, i felt we got cheated of exploring valerie's reaction to realizing she had dated the guy she had sworn vengeance on for so long. and also her switching her motivations by going after vlad after she realizes he manipulated her. we stan valerie gray in this household.
Exactly and I felt the show was missing an episode of Danny being in love with 2 girls(with how they built up valarie with a few episodes,I kinda got the feeling she was Sam's love rival.)and having to choose between either Sam or Valarie.
I don't usually read fan fiction/fan comics. But for this show I'm making an exception. I'm happy that DP has as dedicated a fanbase as it does. The lackluster ending matters a lot less because of it I consider a lot of the cooler fan stuff as 'the real' conclusions or just as extensions of canon
@@TheFLAMEXD Oh definitely. So much of DP art is so cool. And things have changes a lot this past year XD Fan fiction has pretty much taken over my life. Thanks fandoms
In the Ultimate Enemy, Dark Danny says “I’m inevitable”. In Avengers: Endgame, Thanos says “I am inevitable”. Endgame was released in 2019, roughly 14 years after the Ultimate Enemy first aired. And Danny Phantom, HE was just 14 when his parents built a very strange machine.....
The thing that I love about Danny Phantom isn't necessarily the execution of the original show. It's the concept of the thing, and how many opportunities and routes an idea like that can take. I think that's why the phandom is still thriving today. The concept is something that can be played around with in depth, and the fans have gone deeper with it and created amazing content. If there was to be a reboot, I would want it to be aimed more at a mature audience, maybe something like a pg-13 rating so they would be able to explore some of those darker themes without having to water it down as a kids show.
I could definitely see a reboot taking on more of the tone of the original teen titans; a good balance of kids being kids and showing the real impacts of the dangers they deal with
To be fair what was said in this video doesn't make sense to me. Butch said that he will be honest and said that his show was cancelled and that he respected the reasoning of the executives who cancelled it. I see no contradiction in it.
come to order! C.G.:the Cartoon Judge! Ah, if you are talking about the ghost retcon, then I completely agree. I think it woulda been cooler if they really were dead people who turned into ghosts. I haven’t watched DP for years now, so I’m not sure if they were ever shown to be actual dead people, and I suppose you can call these interdimensional beings as ‘ghosts’ even though they technically aren’t. But yeah, retconing is almost always bad.

@@Dippitydee yes that's what I mean, but in my opinion it could have worked, have people with documented lives and achievements be ghosts just as much like natural disasters, also the ghost world could have been underworld or afterlife dimension or something, but he had to drag ALL ghosts into it.
What really bothered me when they ended the show was that they didn't tie up all loose ends. Before the Ghost King was defeated, Vlad Plasmius made a deal with the Fright Knight to get him to switch sides and betray his King. They never explored what Vlad promised him. It was obvious the show ended prematurely and it bothers me to this day.
Keep in mind there's a lot of drama going around the time when Danny Phantom ended and Steve marmel leaving and stuff this quiz how many allegations things that were going on practically in the fandom and my dear person in this is just my opinion since like it's been 11 years since little like final episode of Danny Phantom Phantom Planet I'm pretty sure but wanted to make another season practically but he was basically running out of ideas and he wanted like a fans to have an idea of what was going to happen but since the show ended so like quickly he wanted practically his friends to like get an idea of something but since it ended so quickly sadly we never really got like this Loose Ends really explained and since Nick owns the rights to Danny Phantom and doesn't want to give the rights back to. Butch and it's very unfortunate the type of situation that we've been going through for 11 years
Like for the season finale they should’ve brought back a dark Danny and they should have made him team up with Vlad and the fight night and then together they could’ve Fred Pryor from his prison. Yeah yeah yeah yeah that made like you know the ultimate strong team the most powerful villains Danny phantom has ever thought it could be like Ella yeah that that one hour three hour special yeah yeah three hour special no no just one hour just one hour and none of the main stuff like Danny like dog Danny could’ve been arbitrate Vlad no no
The problem with Danny x Sam isn't that it was sudden, in truth the show planted a number of Easter Eggs centered on the pair clearly having feelings for the other in the first couple seasons. Not the problem is when the relationship did get more focus in Season 3 Sam was written with her less flattering traits at the forefront. Her hypocritical "my way or the high way" attitude got more focus and her softer and more appealing character moments were given a backseat. Phantom Planet is Sam at her absolute worst, calling Danny selfish for giving up his powers to protect his family & friends, and it painted the idea Sam didn't care about Danny the person but rather loved the power set that made him "unique." Yet it is that finale that cements the ship which is gonna leave a bad taste in people's mouths even those who are fans of Sam.
The hug wasnt them just making up, they were hugging around or infront that the large crowd, and more importantly his parents, wouldnt see him go ghost. Thats why they still look pissed at eachother. They were just willing enough to "make up" and keep their friends identity safe. Yes they still didnt wrap up the conflict, but that wasnt the purpose of the hug
For the record, the ending did blow and left things very unsatisfied. However, I must admit I liked the fact Danny's secret being public was permanent as well as Danny and Sam getting together. Feed the fan service in the end just don't drown the audience in it.
There was no reason for Danny to reveal his identity to the entire world, especially with the crap he has to deal with now that everyone knows he’s Danny phantom
And Hartman did have a concept of Danny dealing with celebrity life and started staying in Ghost Zone on free time. Then again; he is the man who ruined it.
My favourite things about the Danny Phantom fandom is that we all collectively ignore the existence of Phantom Planet and have agreed to ignore Elmer's ridiculous add on lore details
It makes me sad because dark elements in a cartoon can actually be great things if done right. Gravity Falls has some dark moments, and so does DuckTales 2017. Yet they're both cartoons and both very successful.
@@santosic I woudn't call modern ducktales dark litterally the power of friendship saved the day in one episode. Yes I am talking about shadow war. Would I call gravity falls dark not really The show is relatively upbeat and most episodes typically have heart warming endings. Like at the end of the Gablwanker episode the kids decide to hang out with stan or at the SooSoo's Birsthday episode wher they have to do the Time Olympics thing because Belndin wants revenge. But they actually win, spare him then give him hair. Then they give the Time Wish to SooSoo. The Darkest Childrens show has to be invader Zim.
@@santosic There is nothing wrong with Dark shows I believe he said he watches Game of Thrones once. It just seems not to be something he likes to make.
@@santosic There is Amphibia which is low brow and over reliant on black comedy. In every single episode they have to put in snarky comments about death or gore or something it was funny at first but they over do it. The writters are so imature its like they are going hehehehe I can't beilieve we got away with this on a Disney show. Also the way to write an episode is just throw a monster in at the third act.
It would depend on what they wanted to do. Spectra's debut episode was the most mature episode in the series. Honestly I don't think the show needed to get any darker than dealing with youthful insecurities and child abuse.
I think it was more hinted at than built up. Like, their were sporadic moments of their friendship being more but their relationship becoming more was never the focus and, therefore, wasn't built up. Them getting together at the end wasn't a surprise but it didn't feel earned. (note I havent watched the show in a couple years so what I remember from it is a bit fuzzy)
Yeah it sure was especially how they would blush around each other frequently whenever they get comfortable. I remembered how Danny thought he was on Cloud 9 when him and Sam kissed in S1 lol
I agree. I watched all three seasons recently and you could see it build up throughout the show. However, I feel like Sam and Danny should’ve stayed friends.
I love Danny and Vlads relationship. It’s complex and I never felt vlad REALLY wanted Danny dead, maybe out of the way but I feel if Danny WAS ever killed by his plans or proxy minions Vlad would carry a guilt in him he couldn’t shake off. Maybe even take up Dannys job. I mean Danny trusted him enough to go to him in thag horrible future, he didn’t go to his grand parents (I’m sure he has some) no he went to his enemy, and his enemy welcomed him with open and fatherly arms
I hate it when the fandom call him Dark Danny. Dark Phantom just sound so much better. I mean it basically his ghost half in full control. Plus he can still use the DP on his chest.
aesthetic also rebooting the i troductory 1st episode because tjat was by Butch Hartman too & it didn't start the show off well. Danny Phantom, the show, deserves a better 1st episode. The ending to seadon 2 also could be tweaked. Danielle, the little *clone* girl, got a good introduction to the show, I guess; however, I didn't get hooked by her character. Those last few episodes of season 2, after Master of All Time were kinda weak sauce in my opinion. I'm one of those few people who really liked Steve Marmel's last episode on DP season 3 Episode 1 Eye for an Eye, yet felt conflicted about every episode after Secret Weapon, Beware the Twisted Sister & Master of All Time. I know I'm also in the minority for liking Secret Weapons. What can I say, the older I get the more I relate to Jazz.
Nawnp MCPE OMG thanks for reading & deciphering my comment. It had so many embarassing typos. You're right about the Season 2 opener, but I'd dislike it being the introductory opener episode for the show. It just jumps into it too fast, for a S11st episode. Plus we'd miss out on some characterization for Jazz that I really like. She's pretty much the only reason I rewatch that particular episode.
@@amyliaclenny1866 I understand, though it does show how he had his powers rather than the "accident one month ago" from season 1. Better character development for them all would have helped.
Frankly they should reboot the series without Butch. I find it is a rare case which the creator being absent from the series would benefit the series overall. Some creators have strong visions that blind them from understanding the potential of alternative writing styles, and themes. Butch has only shown more hubris as the years went on and his socially conservative views have put him out of touch with large segments of the phandom. They should consider the darker plots that were rejected for season 3 and take a page from some of the more successful kid shows of the 2010's era.
The worst thing is, Butch is full of himself, he says he made everybody's childhood when he only made two sucessfull shows and yet, he is ruining one of them without noticing. He wants to make the ghosts monsters from another dimension for God knows why. That's stupid, like another person I once saw said: the ghosts being dead people brings a lot of possibilities for the series, like character development, redemption and more. If Butch comes back, he will just throw everything in the trash and turn them into monsters with no reason to be evil at all. He was already doing that in season 3 and he will do it again if he returns.
Another big thing that contributed to both Danny Phantom and Teen Titans was the fact that action series were losing market share in the mid-2000s by the ascendancy of Anime. Lots of action shows started to die off as Naruto and faster internet pulled more and more older teenagers toward torrents and Pirated anime on RUclips. That's why Fairly Oddparents survived, it was a comedy show with some action elements.
Well there is some lessons to be learn here 1. Danny Phantom is amazing thanks of Steve Marmel 2. Nickelodeon wants cheaper animation (case and point: lastest episodes of Fairy Odd Parents) 3. Whats wrong with word "Yo"?
I agree with your first point. The second point no longer seems to matter because there's a lack of variety in Nicktoons today. As for the third point, I also kept hearing "yo", and I like it better than "young".

You also had to get a petition signed by like...20 people in order to go. It was crazy but at the same time probably my first time in a fan environment (Danny Phantom being my first fandom as well). I really hope the show gets a reboot or special of some kind but I'm not going to hld my breath. at this point the fan art, fics, and comics have been just what I need and I worry anything made officially won't be able to live up to the hype.

I actually wouldn’t mind a reboot of the series. But planned out better, darker themes, over arking plot, Vlad Redemption arc (and seen as part of the family’s), more then 3 season. With some after Danny has revealed his identity’s and the show being pushed toward an older audience.
Vlad crosses the moral event horizon in Kindred Spirits and I wouldn’t want to see that cut in favour of a redemption arc. A villainous breakdown would be much more appropriate, especially considering that’s what was foreshadowed before the shitshow of season 3.
@@realkosherpork9223 a slight rewrite to that episodes lore that could work while keeping the episode the same would be having her manifest Vlads powers causing him to reveal that she wasn’t meant to be a mere clone but that he believed that he had finally figured out how to make a successful clone and he combined his DNA/ ectoplasm with Danny’s in order to create his own child but he realized that he failed and she would die causing him to act the way he did because he thought that if he didn’t view her as a failed experiment her death would destroy him and even when called out on how stupid that decision was just responding with “ yes well I think we can acknowledge that I’m not exactly the best at this whole emotion thing considering how well I usually react to such things”
Also to bring back Dani Phantom as an older version of herself. I hope if the reboot happens that Butch doesn’t get involved like they did with Dan for ICarly on Paramount +
I remember one of the episodes I liked the most was "Control Freaks", and Freakshow quickly became one of my favourite villains for his design and personality, keeping the old plot of "thieves disguissed as artists". One of the mechanics presented very well in that episode was the real situation going in in Danny's body and mind: neither human, nor ghost, and this episode takes advantage of it by mental manipulation through an artifact that controls ghosts, but not humans. The entire episode shows how Danny has a clear mind every now and then because his human side pushes through the control, but is quickly re-captured by Freakshow when exposed to the artifact. But then we had "Reality Trip" , in which Freakshow was downgraded to a villain who "wants to rule the woooorld and have ghost poweeeers!". Ahem, we have Vlad for that, you're just doing Vlad 2.0 with a freakish appearance. Also, the whole concept of human/ghost duality in Danny could have been more explored than what we got. I love the episodes in which Danny gains a new power because his body is still growing in both sides, having human puberty alongside ghost "puberty", one giving him a grown-up body and the other providing powers. But that was thrown out the window when mid-season 2 came in, and then completely abandoned until Danny's core decided that it was time to reveal itself as a frozen core (another idea they could have developed more as well). In any case, I felt like a lot of interesting ideas were presented, but not all of them were seen through until the end.
This show definitely needs a second chance. Maybe it can be rebooted if not continued. Reboots can be good if you've got a great, passionate team behind them. Look at Disney's Ducktales 2017. That show has been purely amazing and not trash like some OTHER recent reboots, because the people behind it are actually passionate fans of the original material. Either way Danny Phantom deserves a second chance. The way it was handled toward its end caused its downfall and perhaps if it's handled correctly, it can be great once again.

Beauty Marked is a terrible episode. It ignores Danny's character development and turns Sam into his nagging moral compass with a healthy dash of "not like other girls" added on top. Sam was only a good character when she was allowed to be flawed and didn't spend her time lecturing Danny. She got worse as the series went on.
The ending with Danny and Sam getting together seemed so clichéd and forced in my opinion. Shows shouldn’t have to end with “main character gets together with best friend” all the time 🙄 I would’ve been perfectly satisfied if they stayed friends.
Ember is my favorite villain, and they finally unearthed a studio quality full version of her song remember, i've been listening to it on repeat for a month.

I loved Danny Phantom as a kid, but I personally hated how powerful he got in the end Danny had too many different powers, and there were times I thought, "for crying out loud, not another super power" It taught me what I liked and disliked on super heroes stories And I am personally glad it ended when it did. Knowing Butch, it would go on and on and the story would be just as bad as the latest seasons of Fairy oldparents

Ultimate Enemy was an excellent example of how the show can remain comedic, based in problems that preteens/teens could relate to, while also having action that doesn't feel contrived with stakes that actually have weight in the series going forward. The second and to a lesser extent first seasons have many episodes that illustrate the writer's dedication to proper continuity and actual character development! For me the quality of the show really went down with the animation, the style becoming more rectangular instead of round and squishy like you see early on, and there are fewer moments where you could see the amount of effort and quality put into the storyboard. Besides having more shallow plotlines and characters acting in a way that degrades their development, the third season just *looks* uglier.
Executive Meddling: Whatever the reason, Steve Marmel was no longer involved with the series after season 2. Whatever the plans he had to use for season 3 were never used or revealed.
@Michael Hewitt Clarke Could not agree more, I would love a continuation of the series instead of a reboot and I want the animation to be the exact same
About the whole Dark Danny arc, doesn't it bother anyone that Mr. Lancer was everything but a supportive teacher? so, if he proved Danny cheated he wouldn't just punish him, he literally said he would destroy his future, what kind of teacher can say that out loud and not get fired? teachers are supposed to find ways to help students overcome their shortcomings if not themselves then working with the rest of the teachers at school.
It's a bit of a Stereotype in western cartoons for characters to be the exact opposite as they would be in real life: Parents are idiotic, incompetent or close-minded, teachers delight in seeing their students fail, even though making them pass is LITERALLY A REQUIREMENT OF THE JOB, best friends being manipulative and selfish, etc.
I am surprised that is a stereotype because that still actually happens in the US system K-12 (College is a whole different can of worms). The dance of the lemons is still a common problem AND a teacher only has to have a % pass from their class with "reason". Advanced/gifted classes are an oddity when it comes to the rule as far as my experience goes. My school district got absolutely overhauled after a corruption scandal came out of misused funding. They literally hired people that either didn't need to be hired or were not qualified with missing licenses to specifically fail students who would become "advanced". I've experienced the "Mr. Lancer" type and with the help of other middle school teachers, other students, and my parents I was proven innocent because I was the #1 math student in the gifted range. I took the government math exam 5 times with the same 100% score but she swore I cheated and without consent dropped me to the lowest math class there was with an F. This teacher and many other teachers in that district could be visibly seen taking BRIBES of wads of cash to get 4.0 grades. Cellphones weren't mainstream for teenagers until the last 2 years of my high school so proving my innocent required an angry mob and lawyers, I am sure now-a-days it is much easier to catch a teacher in the act and present it with some lawyers (because let's face it- schools have become like Disney with they way they deal with problems).
@@TheFLAMEXD I disagree, Lancer and Danny had some moments that made me think that Danny respects him on a fairly decent level. He's one of the few adults in the series who seems to actually believe in him to a high degree
@@deadseven3474 all the more reason why Mr. Lancer gives Danny the tough love he needs so that he can better himself and realize his potential, by studying and working hard. Hell, he gave Danny another chance to take the CAT when he turned in the answer sheet. Admitingly, that relation isn't truly explored since the show treats Mr. Lancer as a gag character, but when the moment where Lancer and Danny share a conversation, it really does show.
Well while the costs of the show was one reason the network was agaisnt the show that doesn't explain the drop in quality...what does is that writer Steve Marmel not Butch Hartman was basically the man who made the show what it was...he was the main driving force and writer in seasons 1-2 (pretty much wrote/worked on 90-95% of the episodes) whereas butch barely was involved (only had involvement in 6 episodes before he had to take over all of season 3) Hartman was more involved with fairly odd parents at the time... Marmel made the show what it was...Butch didn't like the direction it was going or that Marmel was the one taking it there one reason why he later retconned the fact that the ghosts aren't real ghosts, just beings from a different world, despite season 1 and 2 showing that many ghosts were ghosts of people who died and or passed on.
YES thanks for covering that show! It was my all time favorite as a child, I loved it so much, didn't even know the creator back then or that he was involved in other shows, I just enjoyed it, not thinking about much. But the whole Drama of Butch Hartman kinda hurt my feelings of nostalgia tbh
The Ultimate Enemy episode can be explained through what's called a Bootstrap Paradox. It's hard to explain, but there's an episode of Doctor Who called Before the Flood that tackles the concept really well.
Well the show is based off comic books, and wasn't a thing about a gauntlet that controlled all of reality? With freakshow? Guess someone really liked marvel and liked thanos alot to, then again freakshow is a reflection of the joker while sam having her abilities being basically poison ivy so also dc!
I know what happened...the writer and staff member who actually made the show what it was in the first 2 seasons left and Butch Hartman himself took over season 3...hence the drop in quality.
Bigrion16 I’m glad. Im 20 now, but I watched kickass shows like this when I was around that young too. You need good childhood shows to meme obscurely as an adult. 👌
Bigrion16 - I'd say that's what the first half of season 1 mainly dealt with. I think midway through season 1, he was able to control his powers. The second half of season 1 dealt with Danny Phantom (aka "Invisobil") as a threat (from the episode Public Enemies).
I don’t accept that retcon Butch tried to make about them not being humans that died like he once was said lmfao No, they were people that died. I’m not talking anything less just because he “became a Christian.” I’m a Christian, and yet you don’t see me feeling offended by my own story writing that now contradicts my current religious beliefs. (Though I actually do believe in ghosts...) They are ghosts. Yes, in the actual sense of the word (:::: Oh yeah, also, Ember gang rise~
well to be fair even early on it was shown only a couple ghosts used to be human like Desiree, Poindexter, Princess, and the Lunch Lady all the others seem to just be like that
I was at the 2008 KCA, and witnessed the "Save Danny Phantom" movement myself. To be fair, it was not a moving show of passion for the project. There was only a few dozen people for the cause, and while my young self completely agreed with the notion, there was no way in hell this was going to sway any Viacom higherups attending the event. The "protestors" were outnumbered 100 - 1 by just normal Nick fans invited to and fawning over the event. Funny to recall upon this memory, seeing it mentioned in this video. But I personally do not think there was enough pressure from fans at any point to sustain the series.
The reason Danny could go ghost again was because he died. In the first portal accident Danny dies but because it's literally at the border of life and death his ghost possesses his own corpse, with his powers coming out when he willingly kills himself to access them and turning back is basically restarting his heart. His powers being funky in season one was his body fighting to both live and die at the same time. The second portal accident removed his powers by almost fully reviving him sans damage to his soul, see tethering a soul now trying to move on to a living body, so when he got blasted he died again, the soul revived him again and that's how his powers came back.
I gotta say, Danny is the best protagonist of a Nick show. And also the best character of his own show (Protagonist being the best character, believe or not, that's new for me)
Considering Hartman couldn't make back the money he borrowed, I assume the Oaxis problem happened because Hartman doesn't know business and money. In other words, he might not be scamming, but he's surely not competent at doing business.
The only thing he is guilty of is overpromising and underestimating how difficult it is to establish a streaming service. You overstate things when you claim Hartman is bad at business altogether simply because he is bad at establishing a streaming service. That's a rather specific thing to be bad at. Likewise, such ventures are fraught with difficulties that could kill the venture. They come with risks and investors need to be aware of that fact. Anyone donating money should've been aware that the project could fail and that they wouldn't see a return on their investment. It's the people who donated money who were bad at managing money. They should've researched the probably that the venture would be successful before investing and realized that they could lose their money. It isn't Hartman's responsibility to make up for the lack of sagacity of his investors and their poor money management. It also isn't Hartman's responsibility to return investors money on a failed project unless their is a clause which stipulates that he must.
I did but the Live action movies are non-canon and Channel Chasers future contracts them in terms to the cartoon it ended with Fancy Shmancy was the last known Fop episode to air it's where Timmy's parents become rich snobs and refuse to let Timmy hang with riff-raff Chloe , now the two have to get their friendship back . This was a regular episode NOT a movie or a two-parter just 11 mins and didn't feel like the grand finale
True. While I personally found the ending to be rushed and unsatisfying. There's nothing in it that's straight up awful to me as a fan of the series. They did tie up some plot threads I wanted to see so that's nice. If that's the last episode we'll ever see then, Okay. However if they ever DO get around to giving this show another shot I'm really hoping they brush it off to the side.
MadameTamma I agree. It is definitely a lot better than what other cartoon shows have gotten even if it’s not perfect. It’s a lot better than the teen titans final episode (and I’m not talking about the TV movie which I don’t count as the ending)
Many people (including myself) just pretend Channel Chasers is the finale. It gives me more peace to remember it this way and it totally gets rid of Chloe or any of the annoying parts of FOPs last season.
I feel like this review misses the point in a couple of places, moreso with the characterization of the kids and their maturity levels. You seem to critique first Sam and Tucker's lack of communication and their just getting over it, not apologizing properly. Yeah. They're stubborn fourteen year olds. I'd be stunned if they had the emotional maturity off the hop to do that, that's something people usually need to learn. Likewise Danny and Tucker dating pagent girls being played for laughs but it 'actually can be read as insensitive in the current climate'. It was always insensitive. They're 14 year old boys. They're going to be jerks about that kind of thing because they've yet to learn better. That was the joke in 2004, and it remains the joke in present day. This story, at its core, is about the struggles of growing up and learning how to be the best person you can be. That's what makes these slips in maturity so important, ESPECIALLY in season one - they're not perfect people. Those flaws create issues that can be expounded upon. In fact it's when characters DO pull the 'I'm always right cus I'm perfect and basically an adult' (read Sam in season 3 in direct contrast to Danny's decrease in maturity, both played as the plot demands, where it should be Danny experiencing the most character growth because he's been through the most. Read, not always right, just growth) that are really indicative of where the writing slips. It became a huge symptom of how rough it got at the end. The editing was also a little jarring but that can be ignored.
You pretty much summed it up. I honestly felt like that was one of the better aspects. They were very clearly young boys not considering the pageant situation with maturity. Sam and Tucker clearly aren't always going to communicate well, and I remember actually appreciating that they put their problem aside long enough to do what needed to be done, and were able to move on. It's important to embrace that as young teens, Danny, Sam and Tucker weren't always going to be mature. They were going to say or do insensitive things, and they were going to have dumb arguments, some of which end suddenly without really talking about what happened.
The pageant episode really show Butch’s misogyny. It paints girls who like make-up and looking pretty as dumb and basic. That’s a common theme in this show. It doesn’t show girls who are traditionally feminine as worth while people. I wish there was an episode where Sam learned that feminine girls deserve respect to. She doesn’t have to like girly stuff, but realize that just because someone likes girly stuff it doesn’t make that girl a lesser person. Maybe have an episode where Paulina and Sam have to survive a ghost attack together and they learn to respect each other and their ways of life? Speaking of girls, they did Valerie dirty. She deserved so much more. Her last real appearance was claiming Vlad an enemy and then…nothing. I also think she is a much better match for Danny than Sam. Sam felt more like “of course the main girl and boy end up together” scenario and less genuine chemistry. Danny built up more chemistry with Valerie in one episode than he had with Sam during the entire show. A ghost hunter and a ghost getting together also is just so much more interesting.
the episode "Parental Bonding" also had a few misogynistic moments such as Paulina's father being overprotective and disapproving of her having boyfriends he told Danny "if you upset her we're going to have a violent talk!" when Paulina was getting ready for the school dance
Sam and Danny are being together was the natural result of two friends growing close to each other. It was cooler that she liked him from pretty early on
He might or might not be all of those things and more I don’t follow him on social media or anything because I find him to be pretty self absorbed and self important. Honestly I’ve seen a few of his videos talking about stuff and it comes across as he honestly believes that if he likes something he could do the exact same thing the exact same way and it’s better because he did it or his name is on it. I guess alternate video, Butch Heartmen what happened? Creator out of ideas or idiot twice lucky?
@@dillonklasse4980 I think most of those claims come from Hartman's Oaxis idea, which is a sort of deception in itself since he planned to assert the good ol' nuclear family ideals through this Christian channel, which he preached about in conventions but his general promotions of it weren't as upfront about his purpose behind it. The Right Opinion goes more in depth about this in his video on Butch if you wanna watch that
Kat when I was referring to rise and fall I was referring to the quality of his shows, other commenters bashed him for other stuffs I don't know about. But I do find him egotistical, because he does spit out the same recycled stuff that everyone else has been doing for decades and he's been acting like he's just reinvented the wheel.
Roronoa Zoro Ash wins as well he’s just never won the Pokémon league. Unless he wins the Alolan Pokémon league which some people think he might do sense the anime is getting a major change that hasn’t been announced yet & some think Ash may not be the main character anymore.
I remember 7-year old me insisting to my mom that the Danny Phantom chicken noodle soup tasted different than the regular Campbell's chicken noodle soup
In the first episode, Jasmine kinda seems like she’s hiding Danny’s “Phantom” identity at the beginning, but there’s no other indication in the episode that she knows. It’s kinda weird.
A dope way the show could’ve ended would be if Danny Sam and Tucker could’ve been global ghost hunters saving other places from evil ghosts while leaving amity park to Danni. Just food for thought. Love the show till this day
@@yurakoh9679 that's pretty common actually, unless the creator was also a writter from day 1, sometimes creators just had the idea and other people created the story and the lore that made it actually work. Butch only wrote 3 episodes between season 1 and 2, but never alone, always with many co-writters, each co-writter after made episodes alone and pretty much they all were good. When Butch wrote an episde all by himself it was from average to pretty bad, he wrote alone the finale, and as said in this video, he often contradicted the already stablished lore of the show... While i don't consider Matt Groening did ruin the simpson, that was Fox, he was almost never involved on writting, he had the idea of the characters and their traits but it was always someone else writting the episodes, good or bad.
Honestly the only episodes I liked from season 3 were the ones that enhanced Danny and Sam’s relationship. Other than the Daniele episode, I can do without the third season.
Dark version: learning every human history of each villains. And that they forgot it and when they remembered it they got a huge power up. And Vlad to redeem himself gave danny a power up to defeat them. But hey that was my opinion to boost the show's storyline.
I feel like the biggest issue with the ending is that it was rushed. Season 3 wasn't executed or planned well and the infighting it caused hurt the overall show and made it pretty much irredeemable in Nick's eyes. Butch did a bad job (and still does) with doing proper business and it did hurt the show, with him making everything "too personal" I feel. I still don't think it was the worst thing in the world, but the quality did drop as a result. I still enjoyed the final episode, but I still wish we could have a more mature follow-up.
@Abcity so the constant claims about working with Hannah Barbara vase a lie? What a hack, a swollen head like George Lucas and JK Rowling levels of red-con!
Danny Phantom has a lot to be liked. But I feel that problems were there, the biggest one: Neither Butch nor any member of the staff had any thought put into the world building. The ghost world and the ghosts never felt real, most villains had the typical comic-problem: They are not persons, they are concepts, clearly never more devolped than what you have in the actual episodes. The teenage-high-school parts were okay, yet mostly just what we already knew. The funny exchanges were pretty damn funny and creative, yet they also often overpowered the drama, making it harder to care. Remember when it was revealed that Skulker was a tiny green ghost in a CYBORG-Suit? Do you remember when GODS and Pandora's Box were introduced and immediately forgotten? Neither did the writers! Vlad had more thought put into him than the typical cartoon-villain, lots of interesting thoughts were there, yet they were not quite pulled through. I never could believe that Vlad would fall for that "my new dad" trick by Danny. Danny often seemed to win against Vlad for too easy, considering that Vlad had DECADES to get used to his powers. And I especially hated the Episode where JACK defeats Vlad, even though the entire series includes showing how bad Jack is at his Job/passion (???), just so that they could smash in the moral they had decided on. I also believe that it is tricky to show exactly what happens after death in a story. It is like all those films who they they are clever, when they explain how Santa can pull his trick off: You add more plot holes in the doing that than you could ever answer. And it just takes away from the drama. If I know that good people DO end in heaven, if I know that bad people DO end in Hell (or get "cleaned" and reborn, like in the "Dragonball" Manga) then why should I care any more? Honestly: I think that the "Ghost Whisperer" just handled it with more grace and thought.
Danny phantom was a huge part of my childhood, and I’d give anything for it to be continued with no time skips, like the past decade never happened and we can all lose ourselves in that era again.
As much as I hate to say this, I'm glad this show was canceled when it was. I can't imagine Danny Phantom today being successful. Imagine Danny twerking, doing Fortnite dances, or being drawn in Adobe Flash 😦😖
Seriously, look at what happened to Invader Zim when it came back; I was very worried about that movie because I thought it was going to suffer the same thing that the powderpuff girls and the Teen Titans reboot got but instead, I was happily proven wrong and became a great resurrection that still captured the fun of the original show, except with a more hopeful atmosphere(which I’m not complaining too much). So, not every reboot/resurrection has to be a bad thing, as long as it’s given to either the original creator or a fan that knows to do justice to the original show.
I have loved DP with an incomparable passion since it first aired, and have seen the ups and downs. You did an amazing job at showing the inner workings, and it was pretty neat to see your hard work in documenting what I experienced as I grew up and raged against Nickelodeon. My only regret is that I never got to go to one of the protests... No matter what, though, I’ll always be a phan inside and out. One interesting thing I’d like to share is how the final episodes were aired, with most of season 3 out of order, taking a long time to even see the screen in America, and then in two week-long “special events” that to the angry little girl I was seemed like a giant purge of the series from Nickelodeon’s dockets. The way it ended up aired made me forever cynical of tv networks. Not to mention the growing cynicism against the hart-man himself. DP raised me to become who I am today. Also Dani is my baby and nobody can harm her, and I await the upcoming decade when hopefully the cartoons of the ‘00s can have the ‘90s treatment and get merch everywhere. Please. I just want to spend my money on DP merch. I need it. L
I have nostalgia for fairly odd parents, but Danny phantom seasons 1 & 2 are the best cartoons butch has ever made. It’s the best kind of children’s programming that should be done more often, when the show is appropriate for that kind of storytelling. And we still do with stuff like Steven universe, over the garden wall, and infinity train. But man, I’d do anything to hear what Steve Marmel’s original plans for season 3 were, he truly made the show what it was and if it was anything like ultimate enemy, the show would’ve been a masterpiece through & through. Also, looking at this comment section, am I the only one who loves Sam?
"The Ultimate Enemy" assumes I think, that time is a loop. Anything tackling the 4rth dimension is debatable as far as a story vehicle because we have no measurement system or any viable means to get an accurate read on what it actually is. If 1) Time is stationary and flows ever forward; nothing you do can change it's course. If Time is a loop construct, than any event that had happened (picture a set of chainmail, where each event that happened is a link in that chainmail) would need to loop back to that starting point in order to ensure that balance (structural stability as far as the metaphor) was maintained. Thus it's immutable once again. 3) If time is an infinity symbol, it can be changed; BUT you'd need to be able to accurately find that one pin point "needle in the haystack" event in any given life you wanted to change, and there is also a domino effect at play as far as Fate. There's a reason the gods in any fable never messed around with time as a construct. Dark Danny exists before Danny becomes Dark Danny like the chicken or the egg, because Dark Danny DID exist once. From that point, that version of the future became self-sustained, and would continue to loop into itself to create Dark Danny. I'd personally prefer to know how Danny managed to get drawn into that alternate timeline, and get home, without dragging that doppelganger version into play the same way. (Again, domino effect, and that creation point would seek to maintain itself, so Dark Danny would want to recreate the event that created him, so he could be maintained) * Yes, I'm a Geek. I also probably shouldn't care about the semantical mechanics of this episode.
This show, alongside Fairly Oddparents, Spongebob, and Avatar, were my childhood. I stopped watching Nick regularly in around 2012 when most of the shows on nick were pretty bad and the only show I've seen from Nick since was Legend of Korra. When season 3 hit, i was too young to care about quality, and to be honest now that I'm an adult, I can still enjoy the season 3 episodes. I especially like the episodes with (looks up villain names) Undergrowth and Nocturn. I would love a revival, but I don't know how they would continue the show after Phantom Planet (unless they decide to retcon the episode or the revival would take place in between that and the rest of the series).
I didn't really feel a fall in quality in first viewing when I was young. But I didn't complete that Phantom Planet special at the time, so what do I know. In hindsight it did in certain aspects in the 3rd season. Nice informative video overall, Kuro really knows his Danny Phantom. PS: Do you think you could do a video like this on Star vs the Forces of Evil? Especially with how most people weren't satisfied with the finale. And maybe even on Butch himself judging from how he's been getting into predicaments lately.
I wondered if he could age at all. If he is half ghost, the flow of time should have stopped. Pendexter (the kids shoved in a locker,) the pirate kid ghost (forgot his name,) and Ember are examples of this.
What do you think of Danny Phantom?

Danny Phantom was one of the most unique animated shows of all time. Danny was a great protagonist (for the most part) and Vlad was a compelling villain.
Jayton S. I also loved how interconnected Danny and Vlad were, both due to Danny’s parents and that they were both hybrid ghosts so they really understood each other on that level.
Agreed. Love Danny Phantom and the villains and Danny’s friends and family.
Vlad is one of my most favorite villains.

Theres also one episode in season 2 which definitely reminds me of the infinity gauntlet comic a bit

Exactly I really wish there will be a reboot someday
One that is better than the original
That's an approach that Gendy (the creator of Samurai Jack) took and it gave closure after 14 years of wanting 🤲🏾
I would love that if danny phantom could come back wiht darker theme
I could definitely see a reboot taking on more of the tone of the original teen titans; a good balance of kids being kids and showing the real impacts of the dangers they deal with
..."And then the opposite happens"
Butch Hartman in a nutshell.

Like for the season finale they should’ve brought back a dark Danny and they should have made him team up with Vlad and the fight night and then together they could’ve Fred Pryor from his prison.

Butch didn't want the show to get darker. Yeah that totally sounds like him he is a bit of a prude.

It would depend on what they wanted to do. Spectra's debut episode was the most mature episode in the series. Honestly I don't think the show needed to get any darker than dealing with youthful insecurities and child abuse.
I didn't think the romance between Danny and Sam felt sudden, it appeared to have been built over the course of the show.
It's the classic "protagonists' best friend ends up being the love interest" cliche.
Idk I hated them together but I didn’t really focus on their chemistry their personalities didn’t really combine well for me
Vlad wished so much that he was Danny's father

Master of All Time were kinda weak sauce in my opinion.
I'm one of those few people who really liked Steve Marmel's last episode on DP season 3 Episode 1 Eye for an Eye, yet felt conflicted about every episode after Secret Weapon, Beware the Twisted Sister & Master of All Time.

Nawnp MCPE OMG thanks for reading & deciphering my comment. It had so many embarassing typos.
Well there is some lessons to be learn here
1. Danny Phantom is amazing thanks of Steve Marmel
2. Nickelodeon wants cheaper animation (case and point: lastest episodes of Fairy Odd Parents)
3. Whats wrong with word "Yo"?
Butch wont allow such words on his christian -minecraft server- cartoon shows, probably.
It's Young I heard young but who cares.

Idc what anyone says, Danny Phantom is STILL my favorite cartoon of ALL TIME

This show definitely needs a second chance. Maybe it can be rebooted if not continued.
Reboots can be good if you've got a great, passionate team behind them. Look at Disney's Ducktales 2017. That show has been purely amazing and not trash like some OTHER recent reboots, because the people behind it are actually passionate fans of the original material.
Either way Danny Phantom deserves a second chance. The way it was handled toward its end caused its downfall and perhaps if it's handled correctly, it can be great once again.

Except he was also smug and sadistic

Hartman was more involved with fairly odd parents at the time...
Marmel made the show what it was...Butch didn't like the direction it was going or that Marmel was the one taking it there

Danny Phantom influenced so many different parts of my life and the way it ended was tragic.
@@CelticVictory Interesting insight there. Even then, it's clear Hartman isn't a professional as he seems to be at first.
At least Danny Phantom had a grand finale rather than FOP which just ended with NOTHING resolved
U didn't watch the Drake Bell Fairly Odd Parents movie?
U put it perfectly
I agree with your every word especially about the Danny and Valerie thing
the episode "Parental Bonding" also had a few misogynistic moments such as Paulina's father being overprotective and disapproving of her having boyfriends he told Danny "if you upset her we're going to have a violent talk!" when Paulina was getting ready for the school dance
Sounds like twitter to me.
Sam and Danny are being together was the natural result of two friends growing close to each other. It was cooler that she liked him from pretty early on
I love Danny and sam
Do a rise an fall of Butch Heartmen, a man out of ideas.
And liar.
and a scam artist/homophobic
Ash: Gotta catch 'em all
Danny: He's gonna catch em all cause he's Danny Phantom
*Coincidence? I think not*
Avery the Cuban-American thing is. Danny actually wins some
Roronoa Zoro Ash wins as well he’s just never won the Pokémon league. Unless he wins the Alolan Pokémon league which some people think he might do sense the anime is getting a major change that hasn’t been announced yet & some think Ash may not be the main character anymore.
Ash catches Pokémon
Danny catches ghosts
Pokémon also has ghost types in them
Danny Phantom is a ghost type Pokémon conformed!

CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL!
Even if I want some Nickelodeon shows to come back. Nickelodeon actually need more original Shows.
A dope way the show could’ve ended would be if Danny Sam and Tucker could’ve been global ghost hunters saving other places from evil ghosts while leaving amity park to Danni. Just food for thought. Love the show till this day
Season 1 and 2 were pretty amazing
Season 3 was pretty meh especially since butch was more involved in that season
Very ironic given that Butch created the show.
Oof. Kind of like George Lucas with the original Star Wars trilogy.
Totally agree with this
What happened, Butch Hartman got more involved in Season 3.
Nathaniel Foga That’s a part of it.
Hi
Actually, he's been involved in the writing of many episodes of the show.
@Abcity Your opinion, m8.
@Abcity so the constant claims about working with Hannah Barbara vase a lie?

@@FishboyAbzu they're all old and have old ears 😂
I’m just gonna say it...
This was a pretty cool show
Danny phantom was a huge part of my childhood, and I’d give anything for it to be continued with no time skips, like the past decade never happened and we can all lose ourselves in that era again.
As much as I hate to say this, I'm glad this show was canceled when it was. I can't imagine Danny Phantom today being successful. Imagine Danny twerking, doing Fortnite dances, or being drawn in Adobe Flash 😦😖
Thank you!
I wouldn’t go far to think the show would do all that but I see what you mean if it ever came back it would have to be in the right hands
Not if it was taken in the care of talented writers and those who don’t want to enforce their political agendas in their shows.
@Sonic The Artist Powerpuff Girls didn't twerk in the original. You can figure out the rest.
(Again, domino effect, and that creation point would seek to maintain itself, so Dark Danny would want to recreate the event that created him, so he could be maintained)

This show was so awesome! I kind of feel ashamed that it was cancelled, but all shows have an ending!
"Nothing signaling a new era yet"
Invader Zim: *am I a joke to you?*
Yeah
I didn't really feel a fall in quality in first viewing when I was young. But I didn't complete that Phantom Planet special at the time, so what do I know. In hindsight it did in certain aspects in the 3rd season. Nice informative video overall, Kuro really knows his Danny Phantom.
PS: Do you think you could do a video like this on Star vs the Forces of Evil? Especially with how most people weren't satisfied with the finale. And maybe even on Butch himself judging from how he's been getting into predicaments lately.
The fact that each villain has a unique character to them was what really made this show interesting
Based on Butch’s 10 year’s later series, Danny can grow up.
So my question is when Danny dies would he become a full ghost?
Questions that keep you up at night
I wondered if he could age at all. If he is half ghost, the flow of time should have stopped. Pendexter (the kids shoved in a locker,) the pirate kid ghost (forgot his name,) and Ember are examples of this.
@@graygreysangui I mean, Vlad also grows up right? So I guess Danny can grow old too. Not sure if he can escape death by living in his ghost form tho
@@graygreysangui I think Ultimate Enemy proves that Danny and ghosts in general can age. Weird.
