- Sorry that the footage is of such a poor quality - hope you still enjoy what is a rare performance of the Patsy Cline classic. This is taken from a country music award show 90/91 I think .
Best watched small.
I got dragged kicking and screaming to a KD Lang Concert at Radio City Music Hall in the early 90s and honestly it turned out to be one of the most memorable shows I ever saw. I am the kind of person that loves the Grateful Dead and hard blues ... but I am telling you this lady is truly astounding
The poor quality of footage means nothing when you listen KD singing... what a beautiful voice and interpretation...
I hope her DNA is being cryogenically preserved in a vault somewhere so this voice can be heard live forever. I know she’s not performing anymore and she has earned her respite, but what a loss for the rest of us!

In a long life of attending rock concerts, pop festivals, recitals, oprea, broadway musicals...performances including Janis, Callas, Elvis, Domingo, Jagger,Joni and others I have never seen a greater, or more profoundly musical performer than this woman.

She asked that the audience hold hands to help her channel Patsy Cline's spirit.... I was sitting next to a gorgeous restaurant server who had been gifted 3rd row orchestra seats by kd. What a fun memory!

I remember when she first came in the scene... eyebrows were raised, tongues were wagging about this "odd duck" ...until they heard her amazing voice.
She had the most remarkable set of pipes I've ever heard. Saw her perform at the Vancouver Musicfest a few years ago. It was a three day music festival that had kd headlining the main stage Friday night, then Emmylou Harris headling the second night and finally Buffy Saint Marie as headliner to close out the festival on Sunday. When you see the other two performers in the front row watching kd lang, you could feel the electricity.
PS - I'm an American in Hawaii and I would love to see KD in concert here. She's the greatest Canadian ever, imo.

There's nothing like the old-time songs.. you don't just hear you feel every word she sings. It's one of my favorite songs... nothing can compare to the emotion kd can extract from the listener. You hear with your ears.. and feel with the heart❤ 🐦

Heard her today (08/18/2022) by accident on Tube Tube. I am in my late 80's born during the depression. I have studied, played and
been a Music Fan forever. She has as beautiful presentation and style of performance I have ever heard! Couldn't tell at first if she a man or woman. Her voice is even so rare in
popular music, it puzzles me how I did not hear of her before. I'm a fan now.
My late sister (died age 53 in 2013) was a big K.D. fan, and when I heard Lang sing "Help Me" on TV several years ago, I heard pure beauty and have three of her C.D.s. What a sense of rhythm, & an expressive, beautiful voice. I almost exclusively listen to '20s-'70s jazz and '30-'40's big band, but K.D. Lang ranks up their with the very best singers of all time. Thank you K.D. for real musical enjoyment.
k.d. is the voice of Canada. I am so sorry abut your sister. I would love to hear k.d. pull off Oh Canada like Whitney did The Star Spangled Banner.

Normally, I'm embarrassed for singers who try to cover a Patsy Cline song, especially this tune. But look at the name of her band: "The Reclines" -- the RE-CLINES. k.d. has always admitted a soul kinship with Patsy Cline.
sonyahannah I listened to Patsy Cline with my mom. She saw Patsy a lot and K.D. honors her!
Reclines started as an art school project and at the time k.d. was suggesting she may be the reincarnation of Patsy - all for kicks I'm sure - but it did get her the initial exposure and subsequent first bar tour in Canada
doomedhuman I don’t think k.d. suggested she was the reincarnation of Patsy Cline “for kicks” as you say. She’s a Buddhist and Buddhists and other Eastern religions believe in reincarnation. I think she was serious about her comment.

I am embarrassed for singers trying to cover kd lang. ( There are some songs that she sings that look like she transcends to another place and then just as she finishes that last note she's back with us.) Amazing artist, singer, woman!!!
