There will never be another. I hear people today and they mostly tell jokes I heard when I was in Jr. high school. They have to put profanity in the joke and it just ruins the joke. The most important part of a joke is imagination.
A comedian with real talent... notice there's no filth, no profanity... just a great sense of timing and mastery of intoxicated behavior. No one did it better, ever!
Hard to believe Foster Brooks has been gone for almost 19 years. I've loved watching him ever since I was a teenager (I'm nearly 70 now). For me, he was the funniest comic and loved seeing him on the Dean Martin Show.
I think I looked forward to him more than anyone on the Dean Martin roasts and loved watching Dean hunched over and laughing. Those were.really special appearances and to me always real treat. Miss you Mr. Brooks...RIP.
Foster Brooks was an absolute Comedic Genius. To soberly mimic the mannerisms and speech pathology of the inebriated so accurately was an absolute masterpiece. Today’s comedians couldn’t get on the same stage as Mr. Brooks. I truly miss this gentile .
1 tryed to imate him, but can't but I have tryed ! He is a classic and much to be remembered, I am 83 now and still enjoy& laugh & that's what we need today!!
Mr. Foster Brooks was one if not the greatest entertainers in my 63 years. Thank you for the hilarious memories. Would love more. Sincerest Gratitude. C.R. Beard
Skip Beard Skip, you’re a ‘man after my own heart!!’ We’re old enuf to recognize true comic genious☺️ Kids nowadays have NO idea what we’re talking about🤷🏽♂️ Most of ‘today’s humor belongs in the 🚽. RIP Foster🌹
A polished professional who blessed the world with his ‘home grown’ humor🌹🌹🌹 Sooo far above the 🚽 comedy of today.. I am soo thankful for his recorded legacy🙏
It gets better everytime I hear Foster, it gets funnier😂 I’m left with a deeper understanding of his timing, intonation and brilliance of his lyrics. The older he became, the better the richness and quality of his delivery🌹 He lived in Encino California with his wife and two daughters, and performed until he was 86, and died in his home at 89, surrounded by his wife and daughters. RIP dear foster😢 and thanks for the laughter you brought into this world... We need more Fosters in this humorless world of today🌹
You are so right. There is an empty gap where Fosters' humor was. My Grandfather had met him years ago, & one of my Grandfathers' saying was that if you couldn't express yourself without cussing, you were showing your ignorance. I try to live by that motto, & Foster was a shining example of that.
I was only a kid when Dean Martin was on tv. When I knew that Foster was going to be on the show, I was glued to it. This man was a genius at comedy...stone cold sober also!!
His stories are so funny, and he delivers his lines without cracking a smile. But what stunned me, I had no idea he could sing. His singing wasn’t bad. Thanks for posting this show.
No other comedian has ever come close to Foster Brooks and no one ever will. Foster was the comedian I grew up watching, back then we only got 3 TV channels if we were lucky, but we got to watch Foster on Black and White tvs. Awsome then and now I get to watch him on RUclips.
Who knew he had such a beautiful and strong singing voice? I have heard his humor in the past but never heard him sing. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. He truly had a gift. I remember him on a Dean Martin Comedy Roast special.
@@Dan-nt2yb i post a quote from wikipedia: ''Brooks drew upon his own battles with alcohol for his act. During his period of greatest fame, Brooks rarely drank.[11] Of giving up drinking to win a bet in 1964, Brooks said, "A fellow made me a $10 bet I couldn't quit, and I haven't had a drink since. At the time I needed the $10."[11]
When I was a teen I heard Foster Brooks on TV being interviewed. He used to go to bars so he could see how drunks acted. He never drank alcohol.but does a GREAT drunk.
I remember seeing Foster Brooks when he appeard on the Dean Martin Roasts , he always brought the house down in laughter , the best one of these was when he roasted Don Rickles ..he had Rickles in stiches even before he started his routine . The best part is that he never really drank ! Rest well Mr. Brooks u r missed
This is a perfect example of what a class performances is all about. You are a kind and respectful man. Thank you for your time and your talent. Take care.
First time i saw him was on Johnny Carson. He was introduced as NBCs program director to talk about the changes to NBCs line up. He started off perfectly fine and then he burped and i thought "is this guy drunk?" Of course Carson looked shocked. Brooks kept going slurring his words and such. I laughed so hard He was one of a kind
what a classic...as a young teen my mom and brothers laughed it up watching Foster on Sullivan...what a joy he was to enjoy -- HalleluYah! that he will continue bringing laughter through RUclips...
Just like Dean Martin, they drank heavily in their off time, where else do they get the basis for the drunk bid? This is the seventies you little ignoramus
Doberman & Parrot story was my favourite +seeing familiar faces in the audience was cool... also Foster always had impeccable timing too.. he was probably the only ones I knew who made Dean&Sammy as much as Don made Frank. he ruled the 60-80s alongside Rickles. R.I.P. Mr Brooks!! You were a funny man.
Loved this routine! No foul language, no dirty jokes, just good clean comedy. You don’t need any of that other junk to be funny. Take note comedians of today.
He also made some jokes about adultery. And some jokes about homosexuals. Definitely blue humor. You want to clean, listen to Bob Newhart. Once said in Buddy Hackett said in his stand-up routine that Bob Newhart is so clean, he's the kind of guy that gets out of the shower to pee in a hotel room.
I have finally found this video of his show... I was trying to remember his name and some of the jokes for the past few or more days and out of the blue on youtube without searching his name or act he shows up on a result for a friend of mine.... This guy is awesome and one of the reasons i got into comedy.
If only we could have great comedians like Foster today. There is no need for trash talk or cussing to be hilarious. Victor Borge and Jonathan Winters are two other greats. 😆
