Fun fact: the codex astartes states that space marines get only 15 minutes of free time to relax and rest up. Wich is 15 minutes more time the average Activision employee gets in a lifetime.
"Space Marine's actually a tale about how bad communication skills can ruin your life" 64 Horus Heresy books and all of 40k Space Marine lore summarized right there
@@theonlyzanny Bigly big. It is suggested that some Tyranid fleets are bigger than a singular Galaxy. How that works logistically, I don't know. It is what it is!
@@theonlyzannythe size of the entire tyranid fleet is unowkn but it's so big that when approaching the galaxy from below they can essentially swallow it whole there's a picture showing the two tendrils approaching from below and reaching out towards the sides it's scary how it looks like a big mouth
Yeah Most fans forget a space marine is a one in 15 billion occurence on the low end for the imperium's population estimated. They are so absurdly rare that its entirely possible no one person on modern Earth would be one.
@@theonlyzanny servitor for sure. there is like a one in 1 trillion chance you would become a Custodes though, they are basically 10 space marines compressed into one golden warrior of the Emperor
The most surprising thing about this video is that they actually got like 80% of the lore right. Zanny, you no longer know 2% of the lore, now you know 10%. We are proud of you, brother.
Funnily enough, Zanny, the Space Marines actually have hobbies. They're not crusading 24/7. Some farm, some paint. Some engage in normal entertainment. Cool, really.
2:29 False. It is considered by most to be an honor to get to serve in the elite deathwatch. It is a dishonor if you have to be a black shield, which is a deathwatch marine who is a permanent member and no longer has a home chapter.
It's not even that. Blackshields are voluntary. It can be for whatever reason and they're not allowed to ask. And they can go back to their home chapter, as evidenced by that happening in this game. The black shield might be disgraced, might be hiding out, might be the last of an extinct chapter. It can be a lot of things.
Technically only Titus as a Black shield was pennace, to be in the deathwatch normally is actually a huge honor. Thats why Gadriel tries to compliment titus in the first mission Edit: accidentally called Gadriel Galadriel. Lol watched LOTR recently
Deathwatch, the punishment/reward program for the Space Marines. On the surface their best marines are sent to become even more badass but can also be a way to deal with problematic marines without being obvious about it. Either they mellow out or die, no longer an issue.
@@theonlyzannyDeathwatch was made to have elite space marine task forces, made of different chapters to kill xenos specificly. So basicly: They specialise in weopenised racism.
Deathwatch isn't exactly a punishment for Heresy or anything. Being a Blackshield is the punishment. You renounce all ties to your former chapter and serve directly under an inquisitor. Deathwatch is many things, for most is is considered a high honor and a bit of a vacation of sorts. You get to share ideas and battles with many many other Space Marine cousins from different chapters and you can take those lessons back to your battle brothers in your own chapter. You gotta remember, one chapter may have a lot of experience dealing with Tyranids, while another may have more experience dealing with Orks. So the Deathwatch is like a mutual campfire for all Chapters to come together and hang out/share ideas, and hunt xenos together. Deathwatch is actually really wholesome if you think about it.
based on what I have seen Blackshields actually kind of have this weird kind of extreme honor that isnt known based on your explanation as they work directly under some of the best the Emperor has at his disposal
@@phantomskullstudiosperhaps the ones whose chapters were reduced to an unsustainable number or destroyed. But most Black shields are outcasts/renegades
Damn, imagine serving in a group like that for a century, and then your squad gets wiped. That's rough, but only in death does duty end. They can rest easy.
-Salamenders have familys... -And the deathwatch is for space marines that get to redeem themselfes for sins. The death watch is serving the anti-xenos inquisition and specilizes in that, with veteran marines from verry many chapters. -The adeptus mechanicus is a human sub factions, a cult, kind of. They built all the imperiums shit, especialy war machines and serve not just the emperor, but also the Omnisia, their god of the machines. Fanaticly seeking ascension to become 100% machine.
To add more to the Deathwatch, they're the anti xeno specialists, usually under the command of the Inquisition. And that segways us into the 3 main orders or "ordos" of the Inquisition. Ordo Malleus, the daemon hunters, with their own special Space Marines, the Grey Knights. Ordo Xenos, alien hunters with the Deathwatch as their Space Marine force. And last, the Ordo Hereticus, name explains itself, but they don't have Space Marine command, they have the Sisters of Battle, the nuns with guns.
Uhhhmmmm akchually Sisters of Battle is a militant wing of Adeptus Ministorum made to circumvent the Church being banned to have "men under arms". They just often co-operate with Ordo Hereticus inquisitors because more often than not, both parties are religious nutters 🤓🤓🤓
@@theonlyzanny Most importantly, they dont give a shit about the imperium lmao, some actually hate it even, they're just loyal to the emperor, they haven't done anything for the imperium for 10k years until the primarch forced them to A single custodes is worth like at least 100 standard space marines, could probably win a 1v10 against marines, yet all they've done nothing for the imperium for 10k years
So iirc deathwatch is a chapter who usually deployed to purge the xenos and its members are from multiple chapters, the reason why they use black painted armor is because their missions usually has low survivability rate that their origin chapters usually paint their armor black before set their member go with the deathwatch like to symbolize mourning
Also the Deathwatch can be either seen is a great honor or as a great shame. If you’re a black shield marine then the opposite is true, your chapter hates YOU specifically for abandoning the colors and iconography of the chapter (Titus became a black shield for penance as most black shields do) but in general the deathwatch consists of the very best each chapter has to offer…or a sinful marine/a dipshit fuckhead who no one liked so they were sent to the watch master
A lot of this is not entirely correct Deathwatch is not a chapter, it is the Astartes Chamber Militant under the direct command of the Ordo Xenos of The Inquisition. The members of the Deatwatch are marines from all chapters, but their armor is not painted black as a symbol of mourning, and the Deathwatch does not have a low survivability rate either. They do have a high turnover rate, but that's because most marines don't stay for longer than just a couple missions - cases like Titus, who spend a literal century serving are very, very rare. The armor is painted black because that's the colour scheme of the Ordo Xenos, their left pauldron painted silver with the Inquisitorial Rosetta, and their right pauldron retains their chapter's heraldry, if they are allowed to keep it. One other thing to note, is that Deathwatch is equal parts a measure of punishment as it is a measure of rewards. Chapters send their best of the best or the most promising prospects in there to eventually get a marine that's even more superior - or they send there marines that are, for the lack of a better term, unpleasant to be around, so that they get shi straight. Titus' case is not unique in this regard, he is far from the only marine sent to the Deathwatch as a Black Shield to serve penance. Hopefully this helps! P.S.: Zanny if you read this, do a second part, this shi hilarious. Sent brother Clownicus into the stratosphere.
Ejaculus, Erectus and Bonerus - thus, the Lust Marines managed to arrive to location and wreck chaos all around, those who died, are the lucky ones, because those who survived, had to suffer and understand the meaning of those glorious names.
On Kadaku they’re eating the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Tyranids that came in, they’re eating the Astra Militarium. They’re eating all the little people that live there. 3:33
Just a little info. Those goat looking Tzeentchian bastards are Tzaangors, not daemons. They're Beastmen, mutated humans, who often serve Chaos gods. And GW loves them, for some reason. They get put pretty much everywhere where Thousand Sons are represented.
Well, I can certainly understand why they put them in this game because they can bleed, unlike true daemons. In fact real daemons are so unsatisfying to kill because they just blip out of real space due to their instability, they don't even fall dead.
20:57 ERM ACKTUALLY THOSE ARE TZANNGORS WHICH ARE TZEENTCH TOUCHED BEASTMEN, NOT CHAOS DAEMONS ERM (totally didnt think they were deamons my first time as well)
Okay, here comes the 🤓 mode (this commentary will be expanded upon as I'll watch the video) 2:25 > Death Watch is not a unit solely for atonement of sins; Yes, they can be exiled there, but the main purpose of this Order is to exterminate the most dangerous Xenos (Tyranids, Necrons, Orcs) and they are subordinate to the Inquisition - the Ordo Xenos; their main feature, besides the use of Xenos technology, is that the teams are made up of marines from different Legions 3:16> Imperial Guard - although it is correct to call it the Imperium Army, this is only part of the truth; Before the Horus Heresy, the Imperium Army was indeed a single machine, but after the Civil War the same Guilliman divided the army: Guards - separate, Navy - separate, Tanks - separate, Special Forces - separate, and so on 5:21> A little background lore - Lord Castellan is a title in the Guard, but in the context of the Cadians, Titus is accurately referring to Krig - he is, in fact, the chief military officer on Cadia, a fortress planet on the border with the Eye of Terror (the largest exit from the Warp - cosmic hell and Twitter), the Cadians are known for perfect discipline and the ability to fight under the most difficult conditions Creed defended the planet to the last man during the beginning of the 13th Abbadon Black Crusade, but when a planetary station collapsed on the planet and Cadia went down at the seams - Ursarkar was snatched at the last seconds by the Lord of the Necrons - Trazyn the Infinite into his famous collection 7:21 > Archmagos is one of the highest positions in the hierarchy of the Adeptus Mechanicus (they run literally ALL of the Imperium's technology) The Mechanicus themselves are from Mars, and while people on Earth were killing each other in the age of barbarism, these guys started literally praying to technology and believe that every mechanism has a soul - the Spirit of the Machine, and when the Emperor arrived before the Great Campaign, these guys had a one big orgasm at the sight of him, "OMNISSION! DEITY INCARNATE!" - since then Mechanicus has been in charge of everything - they produce weapons, machinery, ships and endless other things, and not even a simple nut is turned in the Imperium without their knowledge 11:50> These babies are Cherubim, a subclass of Servitors, and don't worry - they're not real babies! They are specially bred in test tubes for just this role, after which they are filled with implants and become heralds and sorts to accompany important people - most often officials of the Ecclesiarchy (Church of the Imperium) or other legends like Space Marines or Living Saints, just adding 10 points to the style and appearance, a decorative element, they can't feel pain and their happy with their job 13:01> Cogitator - is banally computer, GW can and should be hated for many things, but over the folklore language of the universe they did their best 13:51> Aaah, She, Who Craves - a worthy choice and this side of Chaos can be told in detail - the main credo of the youngest of the Chaos Gods (Slaanesh is the god of lust and can take any form, from Merin to Miquella) - emotions, any emotions at all, the main thing is to be filled with their desires and vices: to eat at three throats, have sex with everyone in every conceivable and unthinkable position or brutally kill - preferably to do it at the same time and 24/7; In return, Slaanesh gives inspiration, a hundredfold increase in sensations and emotions, but there is an unpleasant downside - sooner or later the Dark Prince starts to take the sensations for himself and what used to bring ecstasy will hardly satisfy, so that Slaanesh believers from among the long-time soldiers (astartes from the 3rd Legion for example) at the moment of M41 are empty shells ready for anything - just to experience a little bit of the former emotions 20:01> Despite the explanation that we are facing the forces of Tzeentch, the eldest of the Chaos Gods, I think I should explain why his Astartes look like this; The Thousand Sons is one of the Astartes legions from the First Founding - before the division into the Ordens and Horus Heresy, their Primarch - Magnus specialized in sorcery - Psykerism, which was forbidden in the Imperium even back then (not without credit to Magnus himself), in fact, it was a legion of pocket sorcerers and in one bad day Magnus literally ruined everything, he was supposed to be taken into custody for this but eventually the homeworld of the Thousand Sons - Prospero was destroyed along with a population of millions - the legion then sided with Chaos and after Horus' death fled to the Eye of Terror And Warp is dangerous first of all by mutations - from extra eyes to turning into a character from MeatCanyon animations, and here Ahzek Ahriman comes on the scene - the strongest psyker in the Legion after Primarch who wanted to prevent mutation of fellow soldiers, joining with other mages he created Rubric - the powerful spell that covered the whole Legion But there is a problem, because Tzeentch - in addition to the lord of magic has the title of the main liar in the Galaxy and as a result, the sorcerers of the Legion became even stronger, but those in whom psyker talent was weak turned to dust and are still locked in their armor - they have no will, memory and emotions and for 10 000 years 90% of the Thousand Sons are soulless golems (UPD: Thank you, Yeti❤️🔥) Phew, that's it for today
Remember brothers for melee weapons there’s Fencing, Balanced, and Block. Fencing type weapons will help even the most awful the Imperium has to offer feel like the God Emperor when he parries (parry timing is extremely generous at the cost of overall weapon stats, big tip double tap the button you’ll get it every time). Balanced type weapons will have a moderate parry window and weapon stats won’t take much of a hit compared to fencing types (if you’re an expert at parries and timing this melee weapon is for you). And finally Block type melee weapons are just that they mitigate damage through blocking (you cannot parry with them at all but block type melee weapon usually do very high damage, if you’re not gonna parry better be good at dodging).
Bro these guys ain't the Ultramarines they are the Night Lords especially with how vile they laugh while killing the guardsman like they're just some random bugs😭
Flaccidius needed to straighten up but he just kept falling flat when it came to performing in action. He always came up short in all of our combat training. His service ended far too soon
The mechanicus are the techy guys of the Imperium who realised the weakness of their flesh and it disgusted them (they're the origin of that quote) Also they think Jesus is stuck in the computer, that's why you gotta pray to the Machine spirit, there is a little goblin in all the tech and you gotta make him happy to make the doors open
@@KillerChickn there is actually machine spirits in warhammer though, like unironically. there is a notable story, a personal carrier(I believe it was a rhino) loses all its crew, and the machine spirit in it straight up continues the fight; without a crew to drive it. it runs enemies over and shoots when enemy tries to board it to protect the bodies of its crew. But the real good stuff of machine spirits are in knight and titans. they straight up have character traits that slowly changes pilots characters and machine spirits feel excited, bloodthristy etc... its whack
@@KillerChickn there is also a warhammer comic where machine spirit of bolter thinks his owner abandoned it and ask 'why, wasn't I enough?'. in reality the marine that was using it was dead next to gun edit:found the comic just write 'Did I not serve you well?' to youtube
Fun fact: Most Space Marines do not worship the Emperor as a god, despite being called literal angels by imperial citizens. (Black Templars do in fact worship him as a god)
I mean most space marines (especially firstborn marines) either were alive during the times of the great crusade/heresy or just know from the veterans i guess. The templar are…uh.. *special* little fellas…
Tbf he is a God ostensibly. So psychically powerful he has no rivals in that area. The closest would probably be tzeentch, but since he tricked ALL the Chaos gods, I put him above tzeentch. It takes a masterful mind to trick the trickster.
@@darthgonk5648 they do manufacture stuff on their forge worlds but also many of the weapons being used are ancient relics which blueprints have been lost so they must be preserved at any cost
To add to what was said around 24:45 - the reason they are turned into "spirits" to inhabit their armor is because they sucked ass at magic so Tzeentch thought they were wack
That's not true at all. The reason they're trapped in their armor is because Ahriman wanted to stop them from devolving into flesh monsters and casted the Rubric. He turned the non-psychics into dust-filled armor, and the sorcerers became much more powerful as a result.
Guys I love your energy while playing this game, just survived watching five minute of a guy ranting about how the game destroys everything because Space Marines in Space Marine doesn´t have exact scars over their plate etc. so it is nice to see how others enjoy it so much
Oh my god zanny you must keep uploading this, I have never thought the game would be looking this good, and I'm glad that the first time I saw it was on your channel Loved the video and loved the lore talks
From what i know the deathwatch is basically 40k version of rainbow 6, formed specifically to kill xenos. Its made of various chapter veterans and is seen as a massive honor, but also can be used kinda like a punishment, titus basically got the arbiter treatment, he was too valuable to execute but still had to atone
I dunno man, pariah nexus kept it on brand and hammer&bolter, despite being animated like they owe money to the russian mafia, kept the writing decently.
Aight Zanny here: We skipping the unification wars 🗣️🗣️💪💪 Also quick explanation of the power scaling in the imperium: • The Emperor of mankind is at the top basically, he can be as giant as a titan or be his normal human self which is an average man. • His close advisor the most powerful psyker, only second to the emperor: Malcador • the Primarchs, the sons of the emperor, originally was supposed to be his Loyal Generals and advisors that would help him rule a secular Galaxy free of superstition so that "fuck you chaos" twas his ultimate goal, they stand at 11-18ft. • Custodian guard: The emperors personal guard, he specifically genetically created and modified them to be the perfect human beings, literally the fastest, strongest, smartest and most loyal. Second only to the primarchs, they actually don't need a second heart or an extra lung, they are so genetically perfect, they can take most of the bullshit the galaxy throws at them, one custodian continued to fight with half his brain gone. They stand at 9-11ft • His "Angels of death" known for their famous "they shall be the bulwark against the terror and they shall know no fear" the beloved Space Marines. They are made from their Gene father which is their primarch, the emperor basically made a lot of basic vanilla marines and splitting them by quarters, gifting them to the primarchs he slowly but surely found. They all then would get blessings from their primarch father and one of those blessings (aside from their awesome gifts) is a part of their genes which gives the marines under that specific Primarch's command their personalities and traits. • the cream of the crop, the guardsmen, many call them the meat wall of the imperium but sufficed to say, without them, the imperium would have been lost ages ago. They are the backbone of the imperium as it is said that "if a guardsman falls, 10 more shall take his place" • the Adeptus mechanicus is basically also the backbone of the imperium, all them awesome continent sized ships they have? The 100ft tall titans that walk the battlefield? The BANEBLADE!?! Yes they make all of that, without them, the imperium is Xp It is often said that what a guardsman is to a space marine is what the space marines are to the custodes and the custodes and the primarchs go hand in hand together, they custodes are just way more loyal and chill like that 🗿. I basically summarised the imperiums factions a bit but that's the most I can give Zanny, enough to get him up to speed. Now the Horus Heresy
The Horus Heresy basically happened because Horus was insecure about being bald and because he was actually very insecure about his actions proceeding his rise to war master (a war master being the General Prime or the highest form of authority regarding expansion and spreading influence across the stars) he was insecure about his previous campaigns as warmaster and he was low-key pissed some of his brothers were not so supportive of him. The Lion, the primarch of the Dark angels respected Horus but was low-key jealous with him being warmaster as the lion was basically just as effective and ruthless into colonizing and inducting worlds into the imperium, Horus could see all of all, after all he is the most charismatic of all 20 of them primarchs. This was all fine, he could come back from this, not until he got stabbed by a chaos knife which probably flooded his already stressed mind with some whispers of regret, fear of being not enough as warmaster, fear of being not a great leader and fear of being looked down by his brothers that ultimately he woke up one day and decided "fuck the emperor and his imperium" Lorgar was a primarch of the Word bearers, they were space preachers FR. When the emperor found lorgar, the little bitch actually kneeled, grovelled and cried, he'dve sucked the emperors mighty dick if he had said so in that moment. He was the only son of his to worship the emperor as the God. The emperor being the biggest atheist around (because he knows about chaos n how it feeds on superstition) basically said "Ew tf no 💀" and psychically forced Lorgar's entire fucking planet to kneel before him and he also ordered our glorious papa Smurf Roboutte Guilliman (primarch of the famous Blue smurfs Ultramarines) to bomb Lorgar's home world into smithereens.
Lorgar was pissed about this and found some other way to direct his worship i.e the Chaos gods. When Horus started falling from grace, of course his pedo church self immediately went to backup Horus and told him all about how the emperor is fake asf and the "Good" Gods (chaos) was chill like that. Horus being this insecure bald man now was convinced by Lorgar and decided that he would worship the "good" gods because after all, the primarchs were also basically left out of the information about chaos. Stupid move by the emperor, he didn't tell his sons about chaos and suddenly left their great crusade, obviously it would make everyone suspicious of him and now his warmaster has fallen and is betrayed him. Skipping a lot of lore, the emperor had one last fail safe to all this chaos, he had the webway project which was basically, the Eldar Hot Space elf mommy faction had this dimension inside the warp that was safe from all the chaos and was peaceful, the emperor being friends with the Eldar actually planned to take a small portion of the webway and turn it into a "humans only" area, he thought that later on, he would move most of humanity there in that pocket dimension so that the Gods of chaos would be starved of worship and die, making the galaxy chill again. While he was INSIDE the webway working on some stuff, making a giant city with his custodian guard n such, one of his dumbass sons (hes got a lot of that) Magnus! The primarch of the thousand sons which you fight in the game is a psyker himself, a very powerful at that, he had the potential to rival the Emperor actually (too bad) he actually had found out about Horus' betrayal early through his psyker powers and tried telling Big E that his warmaster has turned on him but the way he did it was dumb, he felt the emperors presence in warp (obv, the guy is so powerful, hes a living and walking sun) he felt his presence in this strange area and so he psychically tried to reach his father but this strange area prevented him from doing so, little did he know, this strange area was the wall between the warp and the little webway pocket dimension the emperor was working on AND SO MOTHERFUCKER FORCED HIMSELF THROUGH THAT BARRIER, TORE A HOLE THROUGH IT WITH HIS PSYKIC POWERS AND told the emperor "father daddy, blad Horus has betrayed you" The emperor, seeing his webway project with a hole in the side large enough to fit a small fleet went all anime no eyes, all shadowed dark with extra shading lines and reeked of "Black air force energy" told Magnus "son... Run them hands BECAUSE YOU JUST INTRODUCED THE CHAOTIC WARP MY LITTLE SECRET PROJECT!!" Magnus scared, stopped his psychic projection to his father in fear of being spanked n whooped but the damage was done, The Emperor also being pissed af, sent Leman Russ of the space wolves (his executioners) to Prospero (Magnus' home world) and was told to punish Magnus and his legion, he also literally Bane'd and broke Magnus' spine but he was later caught in some bullshit and was unable to help much in the siege of Terra. The hole in the webway was flooding with demons and they weren't regular demons, they were practically in their home court as this all happened inside the warp as the webway is part of the warp that isn't corrupted and is shielded from all that, so these demons are supercharged and all hyped up, harder to kill and stronger. This was the start of everything going to shit, Horus wasn't warmaster for nothing, he had such charisma that he was also able to convince most of his insecure n sad brothers to join him, and being warmaster, he had actually hid his intents of betrayal from the start, directing munitions, supplies, warships to his side, all the new tech and armours all to his traitor army because who would deny the grand warmaster his weapons of war. He also called 3 of his Loyal primarch brothers Vulkan of the Salamanders Legion, Ferrus of the Iron Hands and Corvus Corax of the raven Guard, to Istavan III. All three of them (unaware of his betrayal) thought it was like a brotherly brunch and barbeque on a hot planet, they all brought their marines too. Indeed the planet was hot... With all them nukes and glassing type of Orbital lasers and artillery being thrown down at them. They noticed that it was only them that was down there and Horus and the rest started to point their canons to the surface, they noticed a little too late. Fulgrim the weird pedo slut now corrupted by slaneesh fought Ferrus Manus of the iron hands on Istavan as they were bombed to death, he was also a foot shorter after that fight as he lost his head lol. Roboutte Guilliman, Sanguineous of the blood angels and Lion'el Johnson of the dark angels were also trapped in macragge (Guillimans big awesome Roman star empire) due to a warp storm trap casted by Lorgar so they couldn't help either. The Emperor and our solar system was left with 3 primarchs, Rogal Dorn of the Imperial Fists, and Jaghattai Khan of the White scars, and Vulkan of the Salamanders, he escaped Istavan (but was tasked by the emperor into making a big fail safe if ever they were to lose) so it was really just the 2 of them: Rogal and Jaghattai they were the sole defenders left of the imperium against what Lorgar of the Word bearers, Horus of the Lunar wolves, Perturabo of the Iron Warriors (fucking siege gods, he hard carried the traitor side by the way with Mortarion) Mortarion of the death guard, Omegon and Alpharius of the alpha legion, Conrad Curze of the Night lords,Fulgrim of the Emperors children,Magnus of the thousand sons and Angron of the World Eaters. That's like 10 traitor primarchs Vs 2. The emperor, inside the webway with his 10thousand custodian guard helping him fight and try to fix the webway project (he left halfway to fight Horus), a Heavily defended soul System but severely outgunned and outnumbered, the 2 loyal primarchs Rogal and the Khan, Vs 10 of their evil brothers AND with the help of all 4 chaos Gods and their GREATER DEMONS and MILLIONS OF demon servants. Yep the imperium was screwed. The reason why most of the customers couldn't help was because they were also fighting a massive fuck up inside the webway project, they would only later join the battle whence the emperor gave up on his biggest dream and shut the webway forever. They fought like hell and all of the loyalist primarchs were eventually able to catch up to the siege of Holy Terra (earth) but the damage was done. The emperor was turned into a living lithium battery and the most powerful incarnation of Stephen hawking, the webway project overrun with demons and destroyed, Malcador the emperors closest advisor is now dust for allergies, Roboutte Guilliman was forced into a coma after nearly dying and was forced to sit for 10k years, the Lion was sent to sleep after getting betrayed by half his legion, Sanguinius was :'( poor Sanguinius, murdered by his brother Horus whilst trying to help the emperor, Jaghattai off for some vengeance and revenge along with his brothers Corvus Corax, Leman Russ. Ferrus a foot shorter than his brothers, and Rogal Dorn without his right hand because of some shenanigans and also went out for some vengeance. Vulkan was away on some awesome quest (filled with pain and a lot of regret and extreme depression) and told his sons "If you can recover all of 9 my artifacts that is spread out throughout the galaxy, I will return to you my sons). The imperium was left in ruins and bad management and skip forward to now... We have Space Marine 2! Before Guilliman was put in a 10k year coma, he proposed the codex Astartes which was basically that "no single man should have the power and authority of a million or more Astartes under their banner as evident of the Horus Heresy." And it said there in the book that the legions be split into chapters all of which containing 1000 space marines and would be led by their most highly esteemed and respected marine leaders i.e. Chapter Masters, only 1000 unless of course you were in a crusade. He and Rogal Dorn almost got into a civil war though but ultimately Dorn was like "aight bro, you actually put the fries in the bag, mad respect" The black templars found a loophole in that and actually went and declared an eternal crusade so that they wouldn't be restricted to 1000 marines. They number about 10k+ at the moment. You should read or hear some lore about their Chapter master: the Legendary Astartes, Death made manifest "Sigismund" he was a son of Dorn and an ex-captain of the imperial fists. Sanguinius said "He's less of my brother Dorn's son and more so of DEATH himself" And that's coming from the revered "Angel of Death" Sanguinius Yeah you should also hear or read about Sanguinius, he ain't the Angel of Death for nothing. That's the end of my lore dump, guys and Zanny, this is actually like bare bones of what the Horus Heresy was like, it's Hella sad and depressing but there is so much lore and so many amazing characters that I can say all of it hear, it is for you to experience if you wish to. Ultimately this is just to catch all of you up to speed, I'm just spreading some 40k appreciation and if you aren't interested at all, it's aight. I just love this universe.
Not only do the Space Marines do have hobbies and free time -- as pointed out by other commenters -- but the Salamanders (best legion btw) actually even have vacations that they spend with their families in their homeworld. A reminder of what they are in their core, and who they fight for.
fun fact: you can dodge roll into the guardsman cultists and pop them into a bloody mist, imagine the full weight of a space marine just rolling into you
@@Brother_O4TS I’m pretty sure Sony and helldivers are in family therapy. Either way you can’t deny Sony played a huge part in the decline of helldivers players
Fun little lore tidbits from throughout the video! 2:22 - This is a half truth. The deathwatch is actually an extreme honor as its seen as the elite of the elite. Space Marines have to learn to adapt to other chapter's tactics and are usually revered when they come back. Titus was a Black Shield. A Black Shield is someone who enters the deathwatch without their chapter heraldry to atone for a sin that only they and whoever they are inducted by know. It can be anything from running from a battle, having all your men die under your command, or in extreme cases, coming from a whole chapter that fell and is now lost to time. Black Shields usually NEVER return to their chapter and stay in Deathwatch until death, as removing your chapters markings is a sign of ultimate seperation. Hence why he resisted being reinstated. 5:50 - Thats a Leman Russ battle tank, one of the most common militarum tanks and named after the Primarch of the Space Wolves. 7:25 - An Archmagos is a high ranking member of the Adeptus Mechanicus (the people that basically make all technology) that has mastered the knowledge and craft of their individual study. They are also mostly entirely mechanical as they believe the flesh is weak. The more robot parts they have usually means the higher rank they are. They also worship the Omnisiah and are the only people allowed to worship something other than the emperor (though its also believed the Omnisiah IS the emperor) 8:20 - Cadians make up most of the main forces of the Astra Militarum. Their planet blew up and it basically lead to the galaxy being split in half. 11:48 - yeah pretty much. The old lore was that they were basically stillborns turned into robots, but it was retconned while the new lore is that they're vat grown. They're most commonly seen with the Sisters of Battle. The Imperium sees A.I. (which they call Abominable Intelligence) as highly heretical so most machines are powered by essentially a lobotomized person. 13:00 - Cogitator is basically a computer. 13:25 - Also yeah pretty much. Chaos is anything under the 4 chaos gods that come from the warp. Khorne - the god of warfare, rage and murder. Nurgle (aka The Grandfather) - the god of disease, despair and decay. Slaanesh - the god of pleasure and excess... also constantly swaps between a he, she, and they. Then the one you fight in SM 2 Tzeentch - changer of ways and god of sorcery and trickery. There's also Malice but theyre not important right now. 15:35 - every single piece of tech is described as having a machine spirit. Lots of rituals are taken to keep the machine spirit in check, from lighting incense and chanting hymns to everything from the bolter, to vehichles, and even space marine armor. A gun jamming could be thought of as having an unapeassed machine spirit. 19:55 - yep Thousand Sons. Theyre basically cursed to be mindless drones. They were all potent psykers back in 30k, but started suffering massive mutations. Their Primarch Magnus the Red made a deal with Tzeentch to save them, but they were all turned into space dust in their aromor. Only those of lesser Sorcerers and higher actually have any autonomous will of their own. 23:35 - not a lore fact really. Just love that you're all Primaris marines wearing Mk. X armor and then you show off a picture of the Mk. 7 Aquillas helm.
Fun fact : Deathwatch is a chapter of space marines that only the most exceptional and skilled xenos hunter and killer(xenos is alien btw) can enter or be invited and when they enter the deathwatch they will be educated to be even more exeptional and skilled on killing and hunting the xenos.
Since i saw you ask about it Zanny: The custodes are kinda like the super dooper ultramarines. Before the emperor got mcfucking killed, he had made 10,000 of them to serve as a personal bodyguard. In lore the lowest ranking of them could basically take on a full squad of chaos space marines on their own with ease. The best way i like to imagine them is like mini primarchs.

Just as an "Um Actually" because everyone not in the Warhammer sphere is getting it wrong (Not their fault, the game does not make it clear). The Deathwatch was not space marines that have "sinned" it was for Titus and Titus only every other Deathwatch are the best of the best space marines that focus their experience and strength toward killing aliens for the Inquisition (Super space cops that are above the law and have the authority to blow up planets). Titus is the only example of the Deathwatch being a sort of "Punishment" TLDR: Deathwatch isn't a punishment it's an honor, except for Titus who was put in it as punishment but he is the only example of that happening.

2:29 False. It is considered by most to be an honor to get to serve in the elite deathwatch. It is a dishonor if you have to be a black shield, which is a deathwatch marine who is a permanent member and no longer has a home chapter.
To add, the death watch is the armed branch of the inquisition ordo Xenos who watches for extreme Xenos threats.
Thats why Gadriel tries to compliment titus in the first mission
Edit: accidentally called Gadriel Galadriel. Lol watched LOTR recently

This was amazing throughout. But “tonight is not the night I day” off the top makes the Emperor proud.
Yeah, they’re the Chamber Militant for the Inquisition’s alien hunters.
A lot of this is not entirely correct
Deathwatch is not a chapter, it is the Astartes Chamber Militant under the direct command of the Ordo Xenos of The Inquisition.

20:57 ERM ACKTUALLY THOSE ARE TZANNGORS WHICH ARE TZEENTCH TOUCHED BEASTMEN, NOT CHAOS DAEMONS ERM (totally didnt think they were deamons my first time as well)
Okay, here comes the 🤓 mode (this commentary will be expanded upon as I'll watch the video)
2:25 > Death Watch is not a unit solely for atonement of sins; Yes, they can be exiled there, but the main purpose of this Order is to exterminate the most dangerous Xenos (Tyranids, Necrons, Orcs) and they are subordinate to the Inquisition - the Ordo Xenos; their main feature, besides the use of Xenos technology, is that the teams are made up of marines from different Legions
3:16> Imperial Guard - although it is correct to call it the Imperium Army, this is only part of the truth; Before the Horus Heresy, the Imperium Army was indeed a single machine, but after the Civil War the same Guilliman divided the army: Guards - separate, Navy - separate, Tanks - separate, Special Forces - separate, and so on
5:21> A little background lore - Lord Castellan is a title in the Guard, but in the context of the Cadians, Titus is accurately referring to Krig - he is, in fact, the chief military officer on Cadia, a fortress planet on the border with the Eye of Terror (the largest exit from the Warp - cosmic hell and Twitter), the Cadians are known for perfect discipline and the ability to fight under the most difficult conditions
Creed defended the planet to the last man during the beginning of the 13th Abbadon Black Crusade, but when a planetary station collapsed on the planet and Cadia went down at the seams - Ursarkar was snatched at the last seconds by the Lord of the Necrons - Trazyn the Infinite into his famous collection
7:21 > Archmagos is one of the highest positions in the hierarchy of the Adeptus Mechanicus (they run literally ALL of the Imperium's technology)
The Mechanicus themselves are from Mars, and while people on Earth were killing each other in the age of barbarism, these guys started literally praying to technology and believe that every mechanism has a soul - the Spirit of the Machine, and when the Emperor arrived before the Great Campaign, these guys had a one big orgasm at the sight of him, "OMNISSION! DEITY INCARNATE!" - since then Mechanicus has been in charge of everything - they produce weapons, machinery, ships and endless other things, and not even a simple nut is turned in the Imperium without their knowledge
11:50> These babies are Cherubim, a subclass of Servitors, and don't worry - they're not real babies! They are specially bred in test tubes for just this role, after which they are filled with implants and become heralds and sorts to accompany important people - most often officials of the Ecclesiarchy (Church of the Imperium) or other legends like Space Marines or Living Saints, just adding 10 points to the style and appearance, a decorative element, they can't feel pain and their happy with their job
13:01> Cogitator - is banally computer, GW can and should be hated for many things, but over the folklore language of the universe they did their best
13:51> Aaah, She, Who Craves - a worthy choice and this side of Chaos can be told in detail - the main credo of the youngest of the Chaos Gods (Slaanesh is the god of lust and can take any form, from Merin to Miquella) - emotions, any emotions at all, the main thing is to be filled with their desires and vices: to eat at three throats, have sex with everyone in every conceivable and unthinkable position or brutally kill - preferably to do it at the same time and 24/7; In return, Slaanesh gives inspiration, a hundredfold increase in sensations and emotions, but there is an unpleasant downside - sooner or later the Dark Prince starts to take the sensations for himself and what used to bring ecstasy will hardly satisfy, so that Slaanesh believers from among the long-time soldiers (astartes from the 3rd Legion for example) at the moment of M41 are empty shells ready for anything - just to experience a little bit of the former emotions
20:01> Despite the explanation that we are facing the forces of Tzeentch, the eldest of the Chaos Gods, I think I should explain why his Astartes look like this; The Thousand Sons is one of the Astartes legions from the First Founding - before the division into the Ordens and Horus Heresy, their Primarch - Magnus specialized in sorcery - Psykerism, which was forbidden in the Imperium even back then (not without credit to Magnus himself), in fact, it was a legion of pocket sorcerers and in one bad day Magnus literally ruined everything, he was supposed to be taken into custody for this but eventually the homeworld of the Thousand Sons - Prospero was destroyed along with a population of millions - the legion then sided with Chaos and after Horus' death fled to the Eye of Terror
And Warp is dangerous first of all by mutations - from extra eyes to turning into a character from MeatCanyon animations, and here Ahzek Ahriman comes on the scene - the strongest psyker in the Legion after Primarch who wanted to prevent mutation of fellow soldiers, joining with other mages he created Rubric - the powerful spell that covered the whole Legion
But there is a problem, because Tzeentch - in addition to the lord of magic has the title of the main liar in the Galaxy and as a result, the sorcerers of the Legion became even stronger, but those in whom psyker talent was weak turned to dust and are still locked in their armor - they have no will, memory and emotions and for 10 000 years 90% of the Thousand Sons are soulless golems (UPD: Thank you, Yeti❤️🔥)
Phew, that's it for today

Aight Zanny here:
We skipping the unification wars 🗣️🗣️💪💪
Also quick explanation of the power scaling in the imperium:
• The Emperor of mankind is at the top basically, he can be as giant as a titan or be his normal human self which is an average man.
• His close advisor the most powerful psyker, only second to the emperor: Malcador
• the Primarchs, the sons of the emperor, originally was supposed to be his Loyal Generals and advisors that would help him rule a secular Galaxy free of superstition so that "fuck you chaos" twas his ultimate goal, they stand at 11-18ft.
They stand at 9-11ft
• His "Angels of death" known for their famous "they shall be the bulwark against the terror and they shall know no fear" the beloved Space Marines.
They are the backbone of the imperium as it is said that "if a guardsman falls, 10 more shall take his place"
• the Adeptus mechanicus is basically also the backbone of the imperium, all them awesome continent sized ships they have? The 100ft tall titans that walk the battlefield? The BANEBLADE!?! Yes they make all of that, without them, the imperium is Xp
It is often said that what a guardsman is to a space marine is what the space marines are to the custodes and the custodes and the primarchs go hand in hand together, they custodes are just way more loyal and chill like that 🗿.
This was all fine, he could come back from this, not until he got stabbed by a chaos knife which probably flooded his already stressed mind with some whispers of regret, fear of being not enough as warmaster, fear of being not a great leader and fear of being looked down by his brothers that ultimately he woke up one day and decided "fuck the emperor and his imperium"
Lorgar was a primarch of the Word bearers, they were space preachers FR.
The primarch of the thousand sons which you fight in the game is a psyker himself, a very powerful at that, he had the potential to rival the Emperor actually (too bad) he actually had found out about Horus' betrayal early through his psyker powers and tried telling Big E that his warmaster has turned on him but the way he did it was dumb, he felt the emperors presence in warp (obv, the guy is so powerful, hes a living and walking sun) he felt his presence in this strange area and so he psychically tried to reach his father but this strange area prevented him from doing so, little did he know, this strange area was the wall between the warp and the little webway pocket dimension the emperor was working on AND SO MOTHERFUCKER FORCED HIMSELF THROUGH THAT BARRIER, TORE A HOLE THROUGH IT WITH HIS PSYKIC POWERS AND told the emperor "father daddy, blad Horus has betrayed you"
The emperor, seeing his webway project with a hole in the side large enough to fit a small fleet went all anime no eyes, all shadowed dark with extra shading lines and reeked of "Black air force energy" told Magnus "son...
He and Rogal Dorn almost got into a civil war though but ultimately Dorn was like "aight bro, you actually put the fries in the bag, mad respect"
The black templars found a loophole in that and actually went and declared an eternal crusade so that they wouldn't be restricted to 1000 marines. They number about 10k+ at the moment.
You should read or hear some lore about their Chapter master: the Legendary Astartes, Death made manifest "Sigismund" he was a son of Dorn and an ex-captain of the imperial fists.
Sanguinius said "He's less of my brother Dorn's son and more so of DEATH himself"
And that's coming from the revered "Angel of Death" Sanguinius
Yeah you should also hear or read about Sanguinius, he ain't the Angel of Death for nothing.
The fact that the beginning bit is actually plausible for the 40k canon is why 40k is the best sci fi universe B)

Not only do the Space Marines do have hobbies and free time -- as pointed out by other commenters -- but the Salamanders (best legion btw) actually even have vacations that they spend with their families in their homeworld.

They also worship the Omnisiah and are the only people allowed to worship something other than the emperor (though its also believed the Omnisiah IS the emperor)
8:20 - Cadians make up most of the main forces of the Astra Militarum.
Waited for this video and I was not disappointed hearing "Ejaculus, Erectus with me" in the first 5 seconds

3:45 Unironically real.
Same, but at least I died in service to the Imperium. FOR THE EMPEROR!
Ultramarines in particular have the most hobbies. Art of all kinds including poems, sculpture, music, building models.
22:30 Zanny looking like Baymax in armor with his healthcare chip removed
The emperor got killed?
@@dannycolwell8028Sort of. He was mortally wounded 10,000 years ago at the end of the Horus Heresy, and his (remaining) (loyal) sons stuck him in the grimdark version of an iron lung. Fast forward to current 40k and he has been reduced to a skeleton kept "alive" by two things: a machine so ancient and arcane that the tech-priests of Mars have no idea how to maintain or fix it, and the combined faith of every human in the Imperium's million worlds. And a daily suppository of a thousand sacrificed souls but that's just for keeping the magic space lighthouse running.

Erectus, stand firm. Ejaculous will come with reinforcements. We will lay Flacidius to rest.
Titus is the only example of the Deathwatch being a sort of "Punishment"
TLDR: Deathwatch isn't a punishment it's an honor, except for Titus who was put in it as punishment but he is the only example of that happening.
After 100 years of inquisition torture where he stayed solid is my understanding, then he was put in the deathwatch. From what I’ve read.
its a punishment for him because hes a black shield which is a punishment normally
well some chapters do have there own free time things to do
