It would difficult to imagine Kratos ever having the opportunity to process all his tragedies and the crimes he’s committed, but him being able to grow as much as he has and continue on despite the end of the Greek era of his franchise speaks to just how amazing of a character he is. This story also does a good job to expand the real Tyr’s character. He is genuinely the complete opposite of Ares, who was a sadistic maniac obsessed with war and destruction, and instead a wise man seeking to understand and foster peace. But even then, he is very much still depicted as being a genuine threat with all his abilities, making it even more obvious why Odin would want to detain him, as someone that powerful but also as independent as Tyr was someone he, the paranoid control-freak that he was, wouldn’t be as easy to boss around as his sons, who were all loyalty to him even if they resented him.
