Saw Frank in 1977. I was up close to the stage. He is in another world when plays live. A genius, I don't think even knows a crowd is in front of him, MR backs him so FN good also. What a great concert! The 70's. The decade of unbelievable concerts. If someone asks If I would do it all over again, I would say no. Except for the concerts. If I could have them again, well that would be reliving the best times of my life.
About one year ago, Frank Marino announced that he was getting out of music for good. So all we have now, are the recordings of his work. There will be no more new licks to come. Frank gave no reason for his exiting of the music scene. His reasons are his own, and personal. He gave us close to 4 decades of astonishing and awesome music. Thank you Frank, and all the people of Mahogany Rush, for the memories... Your fans don't want it to stoop. But all good things must find their end. Peace. Yehovah bless!
@@michaelhutto2521 Okay, that's his business anyway. I was just going by what he said "himself," that he was getting out of the music business altogether. He released his last album, a live version of his tunes and some of his history. The album contained 4-6 CDs if I recall... But no matter what, Frank, "according to him,' is retired and no longer producing music, or doing any more tours.
Today, April 15 2022,I had my mind musically blown away. I have never heard of this amazing guitarist Frank Marino until now. His styles, knowledge and depth is like no other guitar player I've ever listened to..
Frank is in my favorite 3 top best guitarist list! You really need to check out his material Gary for I am sure you will be giving him the upmost of ratings. On that note, Frank has to be the most underrated guitarist that has ever performed. Peace
Welcome to the world of amazing guitar. Frank is the master of so many styles and so innovative. Check out his portfolio. You will be amazed again and again!
I ordered Frank Marino’s Live at the Agora CD set. This is mind-blowing music, just an astonishing range of styles. To me, this recording is better than any of his previous releases.
Joe Bonamassa said that if it wasn't for Frank he wouldn't be playing guitar. I was lucky enough to have followed Frank's career from the beginning as a Montrealer. He played like that when he was 16. What a talent.
Saw him back in 77-78? Blew me up and away. Guy could play ANYTHING. blues , jazz, Rock, psychedelia.. I pondered Just saying fuck it, and throwing my guitar away. Great trippin' music. Never thought I'd see any one who rivaled Hendrix, but Frank continued down the trail Jimi blazed. He's an Unsung Legend. Oh fantastic band too Drummer was superb, Bass great.

This song 🎵 with its Native American type rhythm, came into being or creation after me and my shaman friend Steven P. Sanchez met Frank Marino back stage and then played Native American flute at the coach house in San Juan Capistrano, for Frank on the tour prior to the recording! (Steve is a phenom on drums and was trained by Luis Bellson!) (Steve was born same year as Frank in September 1954!) Rock Star 💫 Memories. 💯🎵🤘
My Mahogany Rush albums have a special place in my collection. They sit with the mostly unknown, underrated musicians that deserve more respect. Like Roy Buchanon and Steve Morris. I've been a fan for 40 years. I hear he might be sick. Play on.
So great. Saw him in London, Ontario sometime in the 2010’s at a blues festival playing for a few hundred people during a beautiful afternoon. This was my favourite song, but all were phenomenal. He played for two hours or so and was relentless. Wow. A Canadian treasure.
Seen him as well at the Aragon Ballroom with Steppenwolf in the 70's. Fabulous show by both groups. But Frank definitely left his mark. He showed he's a force to reckon with. As this tune clearly shows as well. Would hate to ever have to follow him as a band on stage.

@Pete Ochoa I was there, too. St. Vincent, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent. The original Monsters of Rock tour. I was just starting to play guitar, Frank was one of my early influences, and he absolutely was the star of that show for me. Mind blowing. Still listening at 58.

Frank Marino is the heaviest rock and roller ever. Change my mind. Very few people have ever even heard this guy. This is where Jimi Hendrex would have gone for a bit if he stuck around.
There simply is no one in the rock idioms who can really get close to Frank's expressive range and technical facility. And he does it with a fresh originality that eschews clichés and tired repetition of signature licks. I hope that his current condition is allowing him to find some creative expression.
Nothing wrong with a bit of Zappa. Know where you're comin' from and I agree. You can do a lot worse than be influenced by some of the best and greatest guitarists in history :)

Glad he's still around!! One of the all-time musical greats, instantly recognisable both in style and voice, and versatile - definitely not a one-trick pony... 😉 I'd love to see Frank when he plays in Europe!
I remember when this first came out in 2000. I was so psyched to get brand new Frank Marino. Eye of the Storm, and He's Calling. Are a perfect one, two punch. This is a fantastic example of Frank's improvisational skills.
Just listened to the studio version and then this live version, Frank oconnell, you are right this is a diamond, I love it, will listen to it many times. And Frank Marino, hat's off and thumbs up, great performance.
MY LINK is early 70's, already an SG afficionado, spending hours to practice early morning on the stage, immemorial, in a summer pop festival. He got way better with time, but I just found how good it became, and a happy lot it became, thanks Frank !!!
I totally agree with those of you who have said all of these things about Frank Mariano and what a killer guitar player and song writer he is, and also his voice and stage performance's!!! And I have to say though that in my opinion I really can't rate anything he's done musically better than any other, because I consider it all equally as badsss all together!!! Face it folks, the guy is a guitar wizard, and a musical genius!!! Ernie Wilber 🤘👹🤘✌️
Mahogany Rush was the only concert of the late 1970's I can really recall any part of very well, & that's saying a lot. It was at the Paramount theatre Seattle Washington & I can still see the strobe lights flashing in unison with the drum breaks on the song Strange Universe & all the little glowing red lights on his custom pedal board like it was yesterday.

Frank Marino is the heaviest rock and roller ever. Change my mind. Very few people have ever even heard this guy. This is where Jimi Hendrex would have gone for a bit if he stuck around.
There’s a great power trio outta Cali called ‘Earthless’.. . I just realized they musta listened to their share of FMMR in their day...
There simply is no one in the rock idioms who can really get close to Frank's expressive range and technical facility. And he does it with a fresh originality that eschews clichés and tired repetition of signature licks. I hope that his current condition is allowing him to find some creative expression.
When he starts the solo, it reminds me of Zappa a bit. Truly outstanding!
mindlesspup sound/effect like "ship ahoy"
mindlesspup the wah peddle ala zappa
I thought the exact same thing. Something off of Apostrophe, Sheik Yer Bouti or Joe's Garage.
They both use the SG.
Nothing wrong with a bit of Zappa. Know where you're comin' from and I agree. You can do a lot worse than be influenced by some of the best and greatest guitarists in history :)
FRANK HOW YOU DOING THIS IS TIMELESS YOU KNEW THAT SURFING THE GALAXY STILL I GATHER... GOD BLESS THIS CHILD

absolutly beautiful ....amazing psihodely, incredable player
thank you. best regards from skopje - macedonija
Simply a legend a long time ago~please keep rockin' frank!
Just heard this........WOW............He is the Best!!!
Most of my friends back then did not get into Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. The Greatest Hits CD was one of the first 10 CDs that I bought.
Glad he's still around!! One of the all-time musical greats, instantly recognisable both in style and voice, and versatile - definitely not a one-trick pony... 😉
I'd love to see Frank when he plays in Europe!
I have to listen to Frank at the end of the night, after Ive listened to the mortal musicians. If I listen to him first then he ruins everyone else.
He plays from his heart, brilliant musician.
this is incredible it's a nother demension of the sg no one has everplayed before
I remember when this first came out in 2000. I was so psyched to get brand new Frank Marino. Eye of the Storm, and He's Calling. Are a perfect one, two punch. This is a fantastic example of Frank's improvisational skills.
Playing this now with 🎧 from "real live" whole album is 🔥🔥🔥 and his band kills also. Live Frank just kicks ass.
Just listened to the studio version and then this live version, Frank oconnell, you are right this is a diamond, I love it, will listen to it many times. And Frank Marino, hat's off and thumbs up, great performance.
this mans music is truly a journey back to the present so many beautiful moments of a wonderful dance with God Rock on Frank!!!
MY LINK is early 70's, already an SG afficionado, spending hours to practice early morning on the stage, immemorial, in a summer pop festival.
He got way better with time, but I just found how good it became, and a happy lot it became, thanks Frank !!!
Listening to this from "real live" album right now 🎧 🔥
Frank, it's so GREAT !! Please play for old good Fans in Europe ! (bevore i die)
