I bought this stove Nov. 1st and installed it in my brick 3 BR home. I have spent years coming up with a plan to eliminate utility bills completely and this was my first step. I contacted the power company for the free power usage evaluation and they said by switching from my NATURAL GAS heat unit, it would drop my POWER bill by 53%. Turns out they were right. My 4 year old gas central heat & a/c unit runs off 240v AC to run the fans, internal blowers, and power supplies for the sensors n such. My average power bill was 132.00 and since Nov. 1st it is now below 60.00. As far as the gas company, my only other gas appliance is a new efficient water heater. Switching to the wood stove reduced my gas bill by 91%. My yearly gas bill average was 140.00...BUT... dropping the gas bill caused me to hit their "minimum connection fee" which I will have to pay until I finally solve the 'I like hot showers' problem and tell them to get lost.

I also picked one up from Lowes on clearance for $439. It replaced a barrel stove I had in my 20'x25' uninsulated garage/pole barn. It works much better than the barrel ever did with the bonus of a view. For the house I'd probably look for a unit with a bypass damper directly up the flue. If you do not have a perfect draft working you may get some smoke in the house. If that doesn't bother you this is a great stove at an unbeatable price.

Would it really heat up to 2500 sf house? You think?

My home is 1400 square feet with triple pane windows and all new insulation so my dogs will be panting lol I'm keeping a full kettle of water on top of mine so I keep the humidity perfect.

I'm installing this wood stove this week. My home is a 1986 double wide manufactured home that's been renovated. I live in lower Michigan and I'm using existing chimney from the old built in fireplace. I'm tired of putting 500. Parts in my 8 year old furnace. I'm a widow and get bent over more than a care to admit its shameful 😢

They officially don't recommend putting anything on top of the wood stove, but i think the only issues might be the initial "curing" of the paint during the first few burns. After the paint is cured and well hardened, you might be able to place some things on top but do so at your own risk as it may scratch the finish. I have a few minor scratches just from where i set the stove pipe down while installing it. It scratches pretty easily, at least before the paint is "cooked".

It could be what you're burning. Is it seasoned properly? What kind of wood? Some kinds of woods create a lot of smoke.
Or it could be a lack of proper draft. Have your cleaned your chimney? Chimney ran properly? Chimney pipe diameter correct for your woodstove? Lastly are you opening the flue? Won't burn well closed.
