For desktop users, especially mini-PCs, nope. Too many advantages. Lots of ports, better GPU, adjustable RAM & SSD, wider selection of wireless keyboards & mouses, and great selection of low cost & high quality QHD/4k monitors. For laptops, a reluctant yes. Some software only runs on X86 architecture, so Windows laptops are still better in that regard. However, it is becoming less and less of an issue as more software developers make software for ARM architecture. Add on the industry best battery life and consistently good quality build of MAC laptops. Ports are a minor issue for the MacBook Air, but a $20 dongle solves that issue.
Mac are probably better and I agree but file management on Ipad OS sucks. I own a S8 plus tablet and I can manage my files in a satisfactory way. Then no expandable memory. I put a 1 Tb SDXC on my Samsung and I' m done.I cannot say the same for Ipad OS. And selling a tablet namely Ipad Air M2 with 60 HZ refresh rate at 1000 $???
In my opinion, I love both. The combination of a Windows/Linux PC and a MacBook is an absolute killer of a combo. I think this is absolutely the best way to maximize the strengths of both. I absolutely love Apple's laptops, but the choice and customizability of PCs on the desktop side cannot be beat in my opinion. That's why I love both Mac and PC so much.
Same for me. I used to work for Apple. Apple makes great products, no argument there. But I do love my surfaces and Surface Studio 2. And i've been using my surface laptop 5 and i love the thing! And been on my Studio over my iMac. Love both, but for me its just been Microsoft over Apple a bit more lately and also my Lenovo x1 carbon, super thin, maxed out...just a sleek, reliable work horse
I've got a 2020 Asus Zenbook 14. I would argue the build quality is even better than that of Macbooks (might be wrong, since I haven't used Macs consistently for any stretch of time). It looks better, typing experience is just as good, and nothing beats that thin-bazel experience when compared to Macbooks' wide bazels. It's been 3,5 years and it's just as fast as it was in the beginning (never reinstalled the OS and didn't even do any cleanup or resets). I've had maybe just a few crashes and all of them were my fault (trying to install broken software or connect unsupported hardware).
iPhone, MacBook for work or business. Windows PC, Android flagship phone for gaming & entertainment. iPad or any good android tablet can be used for both entertainment & work. (everything above it depends on the purpose or use case, for example some exclusive professional softwares needs windows PC to run)
@@JonAdamsTech I have a joke about Parallels, I will not contaminate my pure, pristine Mac with Microsoft filth. The joke is on me because I use Bing as my Safari search engine. I don't think Apple has an equivalent.
I switched to Mac 13 years ago before we started our church. Can't imagine going back now. M2 MacBook Air, iPhone 15, iPad 9th gen, Apple Watch SE2. I'm all in! 🤣
I switched to Mac Mini M2 pro + apple studio display. The main reason it to avoid gaming (valorant), which got my time. Now, I feel like I’m a programmer coz I use mac, and able to use my time learning and have a lot of time playing with my kids. My mental health also improved after I stop from gaming, best decision and investment ever!
I totally agree with all your points. I converted to Mac 18 years ago after 20 years of PCs. Just SO much better in every way. Now I run my life with an M3 Imac, Ipad Mini, Iphone and Apple watch. Just awesome. Whenever I use a PC I’m shocked how bad it is by comparison.
Haha yeah it can be pretty rough, because I like tinkering I don’t mind windows but for the person who just wants to get things done Mac is definitely is the way to go. Thankfully windows has gotten better but they’re not at the same level of quality as Mac’s.
I’m using iOS, windows and android. I have to say they all have their own issues but, I think apple customer service is the real winner. Sure I have to pay more for the service but they deliver.
Talking to you 3 month's after asking if I should get a mac and make the switch ... I finally made the switch and got my first mac ever Macbook m3 max and it's a beast and killed my gaming pc!!! Thx a lot for ur effort in the videos which is very helpful
I would still pick a 14inch windows gaming laptop over a Mac even tho I like the Mac and its ecosystem. I play games and one of the pillars of the my RUclips channel and Brand is gaming/ Tech. Computer science m, software engineering, web dev and all. I hate somethings in Windows but windows is literally untouchable in the gamimg aspect of things. I also use an iPhone, got the AirPod 3’s and got a pair of Freepods 4 from Oraimo. I would love an iPad and an Apple Watch but I don’t think a Mac would be part of it except I virtualize it on my windows laptop, so yeah.
Yeah totally. If Apple could actually put money into their gaming that would be awesome but they’d have to buy companies to dev for them because it’s just suuuuch a smaller user base than windows. Thanks for your thoughts!
@@JonAdamsTech true, but I don’t think it see Apple going through all of that stress, when people think of a Mac, it’s mainly about productivity and some school stuff that don’t require windows. But windows is malleable and it has a massive use base so developers would just rather make games for those and later for Mac but first is for windows. You’re welcome.
I get that, but I game on a PC instead. My laptop I don't want a clunky, heavy, loud, and low battery life machine. I want the exact opposite. No laptop can compete with a desktop PC for gaming anyhow so I just use my desktop PC gor gaming. My laptop is for traveling. As such, when I travel I tend to wnat to focus on the stuff I can't do at home and not sitting in my room gaming. So for me, makes more sense to use a Mac that hits more of the points people tend to want a laptop for.
I had Asas computer for my DJING career 2022 it sucked I got a Macbook Air M2 it Macbook Air M2 has been amazing best money I ever spent /MacBooks rule good video 👏🏾👍🏾🤟🏾
Legacy ports on your machine are just cluster and a waste of space. 3:043:04 Type C has been around for quite a while now. If you have a legacy device just get a dongle for that device’s cable so it works with the new standard. Every time I see a new laptop with Type A ports, I think that space could have been left for something more useful, such as an SD card slot or another Thunderbolt port.
I have an iPhone 15 Pro, iPad Pro M1 11", AirPods Pro 2, and a MacBook Pro M2 14". No Apple Watch because I'm also a watch enthusiast, I have an old Garmin (forgot the model) that I got for like $80 on Facebook Marketplace. However, I keep a Galaxy S10e as a backup and I have a dedicated gaming PC which I built for like 550 bucks. I think for those who can afford it and are into gaming, getting a separate PC is ideal. I will never go back to Windows laptops, but I'm fine with Windows PC and I don't see the point (for my work and routine) of getting a Mac desktop unit when my MacBook can do everything I need.
@@JonAdamsTechyeah I don’t get why Mac’s make it frustrating to record games compared to PC. You just open up GeForce Nvidias app, press record and it records everything from the game sounds and a simple toggle to record the microphone simultaneously. I don’t get why apple or a third party app can’t do the same.
I moved to Apple in October 2009 with a late 2009 iMac. It was used daily until it began to give me problems about a year ago. I replaced it last November with a fully loaded M3 iMac. My 2009 iMac never seems too slow and I used it to do a lot of video editing but it likely would not have handled 4K very well I suspect which I have not yet moved to. Getting 14 year of useful life out of it speaks very well for build quality. I will never go back to Windows.
been windows since the early 90s. purchased my first Mac about 3 weeks ago (16 m3 max 16 cpu, 40 GPU, 64gb of mem and 2tb of storage). I use it to edit videos (final cut pro) and love this computer so far. I am still a windows guy but there is definitely a difference in quality between windows and Mac. even the software is better polished.
@@JonAdamsTech back in 2022, I tried to edit a 4k 17 minute video using power director on my then 6 month old windows laptop. It's the ASUS zephyrus M16 that has an 11th gen i9, 16gb of memory and a 3060 ( I can't remember the ghz of the cpu). anyway, trying to edit the video was an issue. it struggled with playback sometimes and when it came to export, it took 2 hours and 5 minutes to do it. it was plugged in and fans on full takeoff mode. AND it was gopro footage. I had other issues with windows laptops too but wanting to take RUclips seriously I needed a machine that could handle it. I wanted a Mac then, but couldn't afford it. I'm not much of a gamer and the few games I do play are much older so that laptop is more than capable so I don't think I will be buying another PC. I still love them though.
7:11 you missed another problem...not only it crashes but also forces frequent windows update that interrupts midway our work & takes forever to update & force restart your windows PC. Sometimes my windows netbook feels very slow even when turning on freshly the culprit here is the background windows update which consumes almost all of processing power & battery leaving my laptop non-workable during that time.
@@JonAdamsTech they're urging me to upgrade win 11 but i choose 'maybe later' option (It has just 4gb ram, win 11 needs atleast 8gb ram to run properly)
@gokultn72 Yeah sounds like your problem is it's a cheap machine and not the OS. 4GB of RAM is gonna suck on either system. They don't even make 4GB RAM on macs, because again it isn't enough. You get what you paid for here in your case. As for updates, even Win 10 doesn't do forced updates. That is user error. You can set a time to only do updates in a time-frame you want. It's super easy to do and only takes a few seconds. I woukd recommend that.
Very good video. Mac is pretty stable ecosystem for work and life but at the end it really depends on the use. In my case, I'm an engineer and I need that power of an RTX PC. Although it is good to have a mac, it doesn't necessarily have to be the latest model in the market.
Keep it up, Jon. I like your perspective. It's like the open-mindedness to explore contrasting tech unlike those clickbaity channels that rely on vitriol (Windows vs MacOS / Android vs iOS) to get views and likes lol
I really like Mac and MacOs, but there is one problem. At work, I need to work a lot with Microsoft office documents. create macros, use Power Query and other tools. There are simply no many features in Office for Mac programs. So I'm now thinking about to use Parallels.
I want to continue with MacBook but the quality of the computers for me has not been good . I had two MacBooks 2012 and 2016 go out on me and stop working. Apple charges ridiculous prices to fix it to the point where you basically have to buy a new laptop every time My 2012 MacBook which is 12 years old cost 990 just to fix is a rip off. Pc is better and I will start giving it a try
I’m a teacher by day and a gamer by night. During my the day I run a Mac mini for lesson planning, IPad to bring into the classroom and IPhone for everything else in between. But when night comes, Apple goes to bed for me and I am on my ROG Laptop. The fact that my ROG isn’t Apple helps with separation between work and personal life.
Uncontroversial? Funny, because I just got my first MBP 14'' M2 Pro after 25+ years of PC and I'm finding it to be a slightly less flexible, but more powerful (CPU performance-wise) Surface Laptop / Surface Pro running Linux. The build quality of the hardware is the same, but it's not as flexible (no touch screen, no detachable keyboard) and the OS isn't much different from running Linux on Surfaces. I like it, but it's not ground breaking in any aspect. Even performance-wise the latest Surfaces with ARM processors seems to have bridged the gap.
I love building PCs to run Linux (Pop!_OS)... which is very similar to MacOS. I use old second-hand MacBooks with MacOS for the battery and stable out-of-the-box functionality. I love both, and if I want to play one of the few unsupported games I'll spin up my old PS4.
@@JonAdamsTech If you're big on MacOS, as hinted above... Pop!_OS seems to me to be as close to a clone as any other OS has gotten. People will say that Ubuntu and Fedora are similar, but they lack a ton of the features the Pop!_OS devs included by default. Like a launcher that can be used to run calculations or web searches. And it doesn't compromise on trying to clone MacOS, because it also comes with pretty slick window tiling/snapping.
Have you seen the Asus G16 and G14 2024 ? They are amazing . And you can play AAA GAMES . They are catching up with Mac Quality but agree that Microsoft Software has to improve .
I owned a computer repair shop for over 15 years (All Windows from Windows 95 to Win 7 on my personal computers) and you couldn't pay me to own a Windows box these days. The hardware/software quality, the support, the MacOS, the ecosystem, everything is simply better all around. Its not even close. Apple/Mac for work and personal use, Linux for older machines. Screw Windows!
I still prefer windows over Mac OS but switch to mostly apple end of 2020. Looking back I think anyone would be good with a Mac mini at home and iPad in the go. I have and older iMac, m1 MacBook Air, iPad 9th, and iPhone. Lately been considering going so a hybrid of android, iPad, windows computer or maybe android phone, windows 2n1, and MacBook.

I used PCs since they were introduced in the work environment, getting at my own PC in about 1987. I got my first Mac in 2011 and for about 6 years used both, eventually going to exclusively Macs. Overall I’d agree that Macs are better than PCs, at least for my use (I don’t do gaming, for example). There are a few programs that work on Windows but not on Macs, but I’ve managed to find alternatives. Not perfect, but I can live without.
I wonder what’s up with that iMac. Anecdotal for sure but I’ve had about 7 Macs since 2005 and never had one crashing one me. Two iMac’s, MacBook, MacBook Pro’s, Mac Mini’s.
I agree with everything here. Apple all the way here. The only none Apple product I have is my moms windows laptop that I inherited when she passed up until than I haven’t used windows for about 10 years at that point.
Just switch to mac a few days ago with my first ever macbook air m3 midnight 13inch. The build is really top notch and the OS is a beast can handle everything 😊 I think I'm an apple sheep now 😅 Ip 13 pro, airpods pro v2, apple watch series 7, macbook air m3
I agree with advantage of few issues in their operative system, I have been fixed more bugs in my laptop with windows 10 than my old MacBook Pro. Excellent video.
In my opinion, in terms of build quality, the only Windows laptop manufacturer that can compete with MacBooks is Razer. Quite a few people call it the Macbook of Windows laptops for a reason. I have both of them - 2023 M2 MB Air 15 and a 2022 Razer Blade 15. There is only 3 things which are better in the MB Air: keyboard, touchpad and the speakers. The build quality of the housing is the same. So for daily use I use the Air , and for gaming I use the Blade.
there's one thing I always wonder about, why do people choose the hard routes to move photos and videos from an iphone to a PC, you could just log into your iCloud on it's website and download it directly or just plug it in, I was always able to just plug my iPhone into my PC and access it's media files in there, the only problem is that most iphones are still only USB 2.0 so downloading it from the web is usually faster
Everything you said is true. Im still rocking an original 3.1 2008 macpro and its connected to my old iphone 6splus. And im still able to sync everything inlcuding messages, from other apple phone and even android phones. I can still send sms messages from the macpro using my old connected phone to other phones.. only the notes will not update anymore or sync. Its also running ypsemite....
Working on Mac OS and a Silicon Mac is so much more joy compared to Windows. Even when I develop in Unreal Engine for Windows I build up the project on my Mac and hand it over to my PC as late as possible. The overall workflow on Mac is so much more efficient. In Gaming Industry everything is adapted better to PC and Windows but when I look what Apple is able to squeeze out of the M2 based Vision Pro… there is so much potential in their Silicon chips and it is only a question of time and adaptation to make future M Chips the perfect hardware even for gaming.
Yeah for sure, and what's amazing is you get all ofthat power while not needing to be attached to a wall charger! Sounds like you have a pretty dope job!
@@JonAdamsTech :-D I don´t develope games but I use Unreal Engine 5, different 3D programs and the needed vector and pixel based programs to develope realtime architecture visualisation apps and I enjoy the complete workflow on Mac beginning with planning projects, content creation, asset modeling and programming the apps. Can´t imagine doing all of this on a PC because I have hassle enough with my Lenovo PC and Windows 11 doing the 5% of work left after handing over from Mac. 😀
Basically there are 3 types of users 1- Normal one who do aome basic coding or work on basic documentation, data entry work mainly related to business work.. Such users need a basic laptop lets say 4-8gb ram, sufficient memory and a decent processor.. 2- Software developers or high end creators who need both both CPU and GPU power.. These people mainly required great configurations.. At least 16 gb Ram , 256 gb storage(at least), 8 core of cpu and gpu atleast and atleast 3.0ghz clock speed.. 3- Then comes people who are hard core gamer.. For them they need a much higher configuration Atleast 16gb ram but in many cases the minimum requirement is 32gb ram. At lease 512 gb storage, atleast 10 core cpu and gpu and a minimum 3.5ghz of clock speed.. And a very good graphic card atleast 6gb. The configurations may wary from games to games and how heavy usage you have.. Now comes the decision of purchasing a laptop.. For 1st category people I think any laptop with minimal configurations and a good screen and good front camera will work.. They can easily get an amazing laptop around 300-500 usd. The 2nd category people really need a laptop which have a very good specs.. Both PC and mac will have its pros and cons.. If you have a budget constraint definitely go for windows laptop.. Under 1000 usd you can get a windows laptop with atleast 16gb ram, 512 gb storage, 4-6 gb of graphic card, a good processor say i5 or i7 octacore, a clock speed of around 2.5ghz-4.5ghz etc.. The macbook air m2 with 8gb ram, 256 gb storage, 8 core cpu and gpu will cost you around 800-900 usd right now.. Compare it with almost the same cost you are getting a much better and higher configurations windows laptop.. But if there is no budget constraints and you are familiar with the apple ecosystem then go for a macbook with atleast 16 gb ram, 512 gm storage with 10 core cpu and gpu.. Now the 3rd category people the heavy gamers.. Unfortunately or fortunately you have to go for PC or windows laptop according to your usage and performance you want I might be wrong somewhere and free to discuss it.. Thanks ❤
I have a MacBook, but you can use iCloud on a PC. I chose a Mac because it’s covered by AppleCare. I didn’t want to spend that much money and then have a generic warranty. Apple products also seem more secure and tend to look better.
I have never understood the phrase "MAC vs PC" its "Apple's Laptop vs Other Laptop" OR "Apple's Computers vs Other Computers" MAC is an operating system, and for me PC is a desktop beyond the boundaries of an OS. But Technically PC is "Personal Computer". Aren't MacBook and MacMini Personal ?
Do you know what I meant by what I said? The reason people do that is because of search optimization. It’s what most people search so titling a video like that means it will perform better.
I do game dev on the M3Max MacBook Pro, and it games with crossover. I frankly got tired of fighting windows over and over. The eco system makes things amazing and I focus on the work I need to do, instead of fighting updates, and watching random software break things that I have to search on forums to figure out how to fix. You spend more time working on software fixes on windows than getting work done. With my Mac, I log on, do my work, and just sit for a second, realizing I have more time to finish more work. I am not fighting the OS, or the hardware. And it's awesome.
@@JonAdamsTech I am building a Visual Novel System in Unity to use across all platforms that allow 3d and 2D models to coexist in the same space. Writers can basically control everything from one easy to use script and when I am finished it will be open source. The Visual Novel I am making right now will be the game to show off how the systems work. It will be open source and free when it's finished. But yeah I use Blender, Live 2D Cubism, Unity in Rosetta (Live 2D doesn't have full silicon support... yet.) Clip Studio Paint, and VS Code. I am learning Apple Motion right now to be used for animations in a 2D space instead of Adobe After Affects. I don't trust Adobe lol. But yeah, my work covers Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and IOS. My goal is to be able to play my visual novels on a Samsung Fridge XD.
@@JonAdamsTech I had to rewrite this lol. No: I am working on a project that covers Windows, Linux, Mac, Android, and IOS atm. I am building a Visual Novel system in Unity and using Unity, Apple Motion, Live 2D Cubism, Blender, and Clip Studio Paint. The systems I am using allow 2D and 3D models to work in the same space with 3D lighting ect. It works faster than it did on my windows machine. And I don't get any bugs at all that are related to Mac or the MacBook Pro. So although it may not work for every work flow, the Macbook's capability restrictions are slowly lifting every year. I don't regret my decision at all. It's been frankly awesome to work on.
Mac all the way. Today my dilemma is buy MBA 15 M3 16/512 for $1450 or MBP 14 M3 pro 16/512 for $1600. I have to transfer 230 gb into a new laptop. 14" looks camped. Any advice?
You forgot security. I switched to Mac a long time ago and I'm glad I did. MacOS just runs smoother than Windows. I've never owned an android phone so I don't know anything about them. I've had all the iPhones up to this day which I have the 15 pro Max. I have a M2 MacBook Pro and it's the best laptop I've ever owned hands down. Even those surface pro's windows makes are garbage and cheap feeling. All Gates cares about is money, quantity over quality. Even the Edge browser runs better on Mac. I haven't used a Windows PC in a very long time so I don't know if their quality has gotten better, probably not.
@@JonAdamsTech Yup, I gladly paid 3k plus for my MacBook. People told me I was crazy buying an overpriced MacBook. I told them I was paying for the quality and that I'll have this laptop for a very long time with little til no issues. Meanwhile, your a little windows laptop won't make 2 years without sometypt of issue. I told them I paid 3k plus for a secure smoother, better overall experience. I also told them I can run windows on here if I wanted to using Parallels, and guess what, I did try it. Windows ran better on my Mac than an actual windows machine.
To each their own. As for me, there is NO way I’d ever go back to the cost of MS Apps long tern, or the weekly system cleaners required to insure the thing works without issue. Ease of use and seamless multiple devise integration is my priority.
hello!, as a "hackintosh" user (yes i am cheap or poor), i can tell that buying a mac is not better than make a hackintosh. If you could i'd like to read your opinion....
@@JonAdamsTech it may be, but as long as apple are supporting macs with intel processor, there´ll be hackintosh... as example i have a "ryzentosh" desktop, and all the benchmarks is only a 8% slow than a mac mini with m1 chip but 50% less in price... so, for the next or at least 5 years, why is better buy a mac than make a hackintosh?... i read you....
Hey I think my opinion should be biased but might be biased but who knows. I like Mac for many reasons but I also like Windows for many reasons I use one as much as the other. Like PCs are awesome like more specifically I’m talking about Windows desktop PCs because I could work on them, build them, and experiment with them. PCs were single-handedly probably the reason why I got into IT and networking. But I also got to give Mac its credit because of how well it works with my Apple ecosystem in general. Like when I was younger I did get a Samsung pad growing up but my first Apple product was probably a iPod touch and then in 3rd grade I got a iPhone. No ever since that I have the newest products like iPhone 15 ProMax, Ultra Watch, 24 M4 iPad Pro 13in, AirPods, and mainly my 2023 MacBook Pro 16in with a M3 Max 40 core GPU chip/128GB memory/4TB storage. I basically dropped six grand on this machine why because I believe this could last me 10 to 15 years like my other MacBooks and Mac machines did. I have a MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iMac all from 2010 which lasted me 10 years until I upgraded to an Intel MacBook Air in 2020. I did also find a free 2018 Mac mini which first time using it, it was awesome. Lastly I have tones of old Apple products just in general. All these devices have in common is the fact that they’re Apple not only that but text Apple once again the ecosystem everything works together seamlessly and even my old devices still have features that work well with my new MacBook. My 2010 Mac that I mentioned I didn’t sell them or give them away I actually still use them to this day but more in the background like my iMac I use as display for streaming from my MacBook make sure it runs fine still normally but the MacBook accelerates the video. My MacBook Pro is used as a security camera monitor, The MacBook Air displays my dashboard for my crypto mining operation. OK now if you’re still reading we could ignore all that at first and talk about the main reasons why one is better than the other. PCs like I say you can work on them and tinker. Not only that but if you’re not into working on them but into gaming PCs are definitely going to give you a better experience in gaming if that’s your sole purpose. I would say Macs could easily game and have that power but just the fact that not that much games are supported on Mac could be a problem. Like a lot of games of support because that’s like the original platform before consuls and everything. I would say Apple is doing good with getting more games supported on Mac and ARM chips. Ok for vacation and just work I have to go with Mac mainly for like I said the ecosystem. I travel and work with well my iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and AirPods so the fact that everything runs together good. I could transfer documents, writing, and pictures seamlessly. But once again when I’m on vacation and want to play some triple A games, I can cuz the support. Overall I can’t live without one or the other and both have its own use cases and drawbacks.😊
Also another important thing is the free software upgrades every year. They are timely and Apple keeps making the whole ecosystem experience better every year. Honourable mentions: Software fluidity, animations, trackpad quality, battery life after M1 chips. It’s just unmatched
For normal work pcs go for Surface laptop. Most sturdy rigid PC you can buy with less bloatware. Dell kinda sucks now. Battery issues and the new trackpad is garbage.
@@JonAdamsTechyes I saw that video and I agree. I have to use Windows for my work and rock my 6th Surface in a row but switched from pro to laptop 15 inch. Who need reading glasses right 😂
Iam a software dev and i never wanna get a Mac. Anyone thats using it for more than youtube, excel typa thing and other than photo/video editors, Macs not a good buy.
Something fundamental we need to underline is the fact that APPLE controls both SOFTWARE and HARDWARE, which ensures perfect compatibility between the operating system and the components and explains the quality of the software and its reliability. Unlike Apple, Windows is a heavy operating system designed to run on any hardware/ computer that meets the minimum requirement, which explains why Windows is so dominant. The issues are: Since Apple controls both hardware and software, they charge a ridiculous amount of money, especially if you want to increase storage, because they know that no one else manufactures MacOS. They control everything from A to Z. Windows; however, you can have it on any computer brand, and competition made PC more affordable and more mainstream. as cyber security professional I won both Mac and PC and Linux
Yeah, I like Apple having control of both though for optimization reasons. So at this point in my life I’d rather pay more for a stable experience. Windows has gotten so much better though so I’m good on either platform.
@@JonAdamsTech I agree. My personal main issue with Apple is the take-it-or-leave-it approach (which I understand from a marketing standpoint). Apple mainly dictates your experience, which annoys me a bit.
@@JonAdamsTechNo, people need to pressure them into decreasing the price, it's ridiculous, it's why they chose to cheapen the Apple Home Pod and Apple TV, charging 200$ for upgraded ram makes no sense, if anything it should be cheaper than all the competitors if they control their own stock. I bought a Macbook in 2012 that had 8gb ram and 1Tb i7 for 1,200$, there is no excuse that a Macbook within 10 years costs at baseline 1,600$ for 8Gb ram and 500gb storage, no excuse, it should be 16Gb ram and 1Tb storage.
Some of the reasons listed are extremely subjective. Build quality literally depends on what PC you buy, many PCs in the same price level as Macs are arguably better in this area. Ditto for app quality. I've used Macs and PCs (Windows/Linux) for many years, and to say I've seen quite a few crashes in each OS would be and understatement. Windows is probably the worst one, but in my experience this is usually made much worse with a bunch of corporate software crap you see very often in Windows corporate world. Instead I was surprised some of the best features of Macs were not mentioned - superior battery life, full power on battery. Much! less annoying update process. Flawless instant sleep/wake. Better resell price. Ironically enough, user friendliness of Macs leaves much to be desired as well, especially the lack of window snapping baked into the OS is a crude awakening. Such a basic feature has to be solved by 3rd party apps in MacOS. In conclusion, weird take on the topic, dude. Ecosystem is a killer feature though.
Hey. Been watching your iPhone 15 pro video, great content. Will be buying soon. Just wanted your thoughts on the MagSafe charger. Worth purchasing or are the woven cables sufficient enough? Also standard MagSafe charger v MagSafe charger & 20w USB-C adapter better?
I use MagSafe every day, I think it’s amazing! I think the standard MagSafe is just fine. Best thing though is spending the $100 to get something like the belkin 3 in 1 charger this is the one I have amzn.to/4faYm9x
Macs are amazing, but I game a lot. I have a gaming PC and a laptop with an i5 10th gen and no dedicated gpu, just to browse the web or watch movies in the bed. So I dont need even the base model of macbook air bc it would be still more expensive than my main dell laptop and wouldnt be really that batter it this use-case. Also me using android phones kinda takes one of the advantages of macs and macbooks away.
Yeah it’s super annoying, I have a pc I built that’s pretty decent and then all my work is on Mac. So play on windows work on Mac is how I have to do things
Will bring in Virtualization here. I love MAC and for me, it's the best in all aspects from build quality to feel. With also my love for Windows, I deploy #Parallels to smoothly use windows on my MAC. It's limited by a cost of $110 a year which I think is high.
@@JonAdamsTech 🤣🤣🤣🤣 nah, I rather play with a controller. For example, I play a lot of racing games and my hand hurts every time I play with my keyboard 😩 I used to do it like 20 years ago, but man… My wrist hurts now 😭
Only effected enterprise laptops/desktops with the CrowdStrike software. Personal Windows laptops/desktops were not affected since they rarely have that software.
I have been using Mac since 1996 along with PC. What I have noticed build quality , support from Apple and longevity is something with PC won't match. With PC if you spend the same amount as a MacBook you will definitely get a well built PC. problem is people say PC is cheaper and has more option which is not true , example in MacMini with intel used to have server chipset on them versus a basic chipset on mini PC. I build my own PC , when I choose good chipset , good drive , decent graphics card , Gold power supply and good case with 4K display it gets closer or similar to an iMac pricing. If you build an i9 PC or AMD thread ripper it gets close to macStudio or even expensive. People have to understand by default Apple does not compromise on built quality. design failure , yes like 2016 to 2018 keyboard which any other brand will have similar issue. Specific engineering apps and gaming is clearly for PC market. Mac is for SOHO , creators , designers , media and musician specifically. As an IT person supporting Mac , Dell , HP , recently Asus. I have less tickets or issues from Mac users. Both are good provided what you are using it for , however Mac is still good one for me.
HI BROTHER. I RECENTLY BOUGHT A MACBOOK M2 AIR. But i have a question, lets say i charge the mac to 90% but hours later whenever i turn the mac on, it shows 95%. is it normal brother? thanks
Hi Jon im stuck on windows or Mac m3 I've always been a windows guy especially for gaming But now i've been productive and I don't game much I need a good laptop which can do programming and video editing the best What do u suggest ?
Dude go max all the way. The m3 pro MacBook Pro is great or the m3 MacBook Air is solid too. Do you make money from programming? That would change my answer a bit.
Premium Windows laptops are as nice as any of the M-series Macbooks and while I use the MacOS patchers on Intel Macbooks, I like how easy it is to run Linux on Windows laptops. I can boot from a USB. Something not possible with the new M-series Macbooks. Sure you can use a VM to run Windows or Linux but the best program to use for it, Parallels isn't cheap. Worse for Mac users is how Apple prices its products. 8gb ram and a 256gb SSD on brand new machines is bad. Nor do I like using dongles.
@@JonAdamsTech Those with decent budgets and who want a seamless connection with an iPhone and or iPad should always check Macbooks out. Those Apple stores are fantastic.
I would love to agree with all the pointers absolutely, Windows laptops are catching up for sure but they are nothing close to Apple's build quality, stability of the OS and reliability. As a creative professional myself I would love to switch to a Macbook soon for sure but the only fear that I have is how hard hard the switch is going to be for a lifelong Windows user. For instance, do I really need to pay for apps to do simple tasks like splitting app windows (which I can do for free in Windows) just because I switched to MacOS or there are any free alternatives to do the same? Of course, this is just one out of millions of questions that I have got but the point is that the switch can happen by purchasing a Mac and starting using it but I just fear how expensive it will be to run things on a Mac when compared to a Windows laptop.
macs: Build quality, battery life, reliability, performance Windows laptops: every other thing like buggy os, forced updates, viruses, blue screen, clunky, multiple visits to repair center. flimsy build etc.
Most people buy laptops, but if it were compared to a desktop, I still love macs but I also love building pcs so I'm good either way. If I had to chose one though I would still go mac.
Agree that having iPhone is great to share with MBP but it costs too much when Android like OnePlus cost less while providing alot of new tech. Although...bec of me having OP12, idk to get ipad to pair with MBP or OnePlus pad 2 to pair with OP12.
I just can't bring myself to buy a mac. I find the company has such questionable behaviour, I think I'd question my purchase if I ignored these feelings just to get the fastest laptop.
What do you think? Are Macs that much better than Windows computers?
My Mac is my Personal Computer. Why do RUclipsrs use PC as a synonym for non-MacOS? What is a personal computer that runs Linux called?
@@francescamoscianese2193 Oh yeah file management in ipad os is freaking terrible. it's the worst

Nice! Do you build your own pcs? I use both on a daily basis but if I had to go with one or the other I’d go Mac. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@BetterDaySilverCloud man I had the x1 carbon before, that keyboard is soooooo good
@JonAdamsTech one of the best! Love typing on that laptop!
Glad it’s working for you!!
iPhone, MacBook for work or business.
Windows PC, Android flagship phone for gaming & entertainment.
iPad or any good android tablet can be used for both entertainment & work.

My laptop is for traveling. As such, when I travel I tend to wnat to focus on the stuff I can't do at home and not sitting in my room gaming. So for me, makes more sense to use a Mac that hits more of the points people tend to want a laptop for.

Legacy ports on your machine are just cluster and a waste of space. 3:04 3:04 Type C has been around for quite a while now. If you have a legacy device just get a dongle for that device’s cable so it works with the new standard.
Every time I see a new laptop with Type A ports, I think that space could have been left for something more useful, such as an SD card slot or another Thunderbolt port.
It’s true but a lot of windows laptops have both and unfortunately I don’t always have a dongle with me, it’s just a minor complaint tho.
Yep that’s pretty much my setup, I do streaming from my pc too because Mac and obs kinda suck together
@@JonAdamsTechyeah I don’t get why Mac’s make it frustrating to record games compared to PC.

So i got Redmi Pad which runs everything buttery smooth replacing my laptop.
(Though there are some tasks that runs well/needs PC exclusive for it)
I thought they did away with forced updates in windows 11??
@@JonAdamsTech they're urging me to upgrade win 11 but i choose 'maybe later' option
(It has just 4gb ram, win 11 needs atleast 8gb ram to run properly)

Hey I appreciate the kind words!
I really like Mac and MacOs, but there is one problem. At work, I need to work a lot with Microsoft office documents. create macros, use Power Query and other tools. There are simply no many features in Office for Mac programs. So I'm now thinking about to use Parallels.
Yeah that’s definitely a work around but man I hate workarounds. I just wish they fixed those small annoyances
I think with apple you pay to not have those problems. you're using super old hardware, pcs with hardware that old will definitely give you issues.
Yeah that's a smart move. I essentially do the same but with a desktop pc
I’m super excited for windows on arm processors but they still haven’t gotten there. Hopefully in these next few years they make some major strides!
I love building PCs to run Linux (Pop!_OS)... which is very similar to MacOS. I use old second-hand MacBooks with MacOS for the battery and stable out-of-the-box functionality. I love both, and if I want to play one of the few unsupported games I'll spin up my old PS4.
Nice, I still haven't used a linux system but ive built a ton of pcs so I should give it a go
@@JonAdamsTech If you're big on MacOS, as hinted above... Pop!_OS seems to me to be as close to a clone as any other OS has gotten. People will say that Ubuntu and Fedora are similar, but they lack a ton of the features the Pop!_OS devs included by default. Like a launcher that can be used to run calculations or web searches. And it doesn't compromise on trying to clone MacOS, because it also comes with pretty slick window tiling/snapping.

there's one thing I always wonder about, why do people choose the hard routes to move photos and videos from an iphone to a PC, you could just log into your iCloud on it's website and download it directly or just plug it in, I was always able to just plug my iPhone into my PC and access it's media files in there, the only problem is that most iphones are still only USB 2.0 so downloading it from the web is usually faster

Basically there are 3 types of users
1- Normal one who do aome basic coding or work on basic documentation, data entry work mainly related to business work..
For them they need a much higher configuration
Atleast 16gb ram but in many cases the minimum requirement is 32gb ram.
Unfortunately or fortunately you have to go for PC or windows laptop according to your usage and performance you want
I might be wrong somewhere and free to discuss it..
Thanks ❤

@@therinwhitten Thats dope!
Mac all the way. Today my dilemma is buy MBA 15 M3 16/512 for $1450 or MBP 14 M3 pro 16/512 for $1600. I have to transfer 230 gb into a new laptop. 14" looks camped. Any advice?
What do you do for work?
Totally agree, macs are just better. Windows desktops are still fun to use but man their laptops blow
100%!
I have 5 reason for mac. 1.battery 2. build 3. processor 4.primium 5.longevity
Totally agree!
I use both daily and the Max is way better. No bloat wear, no forced updates and very good build quality
Heck ya! What Mac do you have?
@@JonAdamsTech MacBook Pro 16” M1 Pro
hello!, as a "hackintosh" user (yes i am cheap or poor), i can tell that buying a mac is not better than make a hackintosh. If you could i'd like to read your opinion....
Hackintoshes are on their way out. With Apple silicon it’s holding on by a thread.
Yeah man I really enjoy both as well, if I had to choose though I’d go Mac!
I bought my first MacBook last ...a 2009 but to tell you the fact....i can never go back
Its a 2009 MBP but better build quality than most recent PCS
Dang so you haven’t upgraded since then?!
Also another important thing is the free software upgrades every year. They are timely and Apple keeps making the whole ecosystem experience better every year.
Honourable mentions:
Software fluidity, animations, trackpad quality, battery life after M1 chips. It’s just unmatched
I totally agree with you! Great thoughts
Really appreciate your opinion and experience! Keep on going bro 😄💪🏻
Thanks Lenny!
I'm really tempted to try mac but from the e-waste bins of where I work, I can pick-up from time to time very usable pc parts and laptops . . . . .
Do you do IT for a job? That is definitely one thing I love about pc is putting together old parts
For normal work pcs go for Surface laptop. Most sturdy rigid PC you can buy with less bloatware. Dell kinda sucks now. Battery issues and the new trackpad is garbage.
Totally agree. Did you watch Quinn’s (snazzylabs) new video? He talks all about that.
@@JonAdamsTechyes I saw that video and I agree. I have to use Windows for my work and rock my 6th Surface in a row but switched from pro to laptop 15 inch. Who need reading glasses right 😂
Do you need external virus protection with m3 Mac air? I am not computer savvy so prefer automatic everything
No thankfully you don’t. Macs very very rarely get a virus
@@JonAdamsTech thank you
Iam a software dev and i never wanna get a Mac. Anyone thats using it for more than youtube, excel typa thing and other than photo/video editors, Macs not a good buy.
A whole lot of people would disagree with you lol
I use a 2014 Mac Mini and a 2017 MacBook Pro. ✌️
Nice! Any plans on upgrading anytime soon?
Nope, I am the arbiter of truth. You just need to accept it and you'll be happier.
@@JonAdamsTech That’s great, thanks for you quick response and help 👍🏽
is it good for cybersecurity?
Yes
I have BSODs on windows premium devices. Hope such stuff won't happen on mac. 😊 (I hate surprises)😅
Yeah for sure, makes sense for you to be on pc. Thanks for checking out the video!
If I could game on a Mac, I'd buy a Mac every time. Instead, I have a high end PC.
Yeah that is super high

no forced crowd strike updates to brick your computer
Forced updates suck. I heard they haven’t done that on windows 11 though, at least I haven’t noticed it happening anyway
buddy, there are forced crowdstrike updates for mac too, linux as well. This was stroke of luck it only affected windows.
Shit I was gonna say that 😂
@@JonAdamsTech Windows 11 is worse with forced updates, brother.
Sounds like you know your stuff. I hated those macbooks back in the jonny ive era, it was terrible!

Hi Jon im stuck on windows or Mac m3
I've always been a windows guy especially for gaming
But now i've been productive and I don't game much
I need a good laptop which can do programming and video editing the best
What do u suggest ?

The m3 chip is amazing. I stand by what I said homie
This dude never lay hands on Thinkpads.
I’ve used them extensively
Have you tried ThinkPad..???
Yep twice!
Since 2016, I have never used a windows computer, Mac is a game changer for efficiency of work.
I completely agree
Premium Windows laptops are as nice as any of the M-series Macbooks and while I use the MacOS patchers on Intel Macbooks, I like how easy it is to run Linux on Windows laptops. I can boot from a USB. Something not possible with the new M-series Macbooks.
Sure you can use a VM to run Windows or Linux but the best program to use for it, Parallels isn't cheap. Worse for Mac users is how Apple prices its products. 8gb ram and a 256gb SSD on brand new machines is bad. Nor do I like using dongles.
Yeah if you’re that deep into using different operating systems then using a windows machine is definitely your best bet
@@JonAdamsTech Those with decent budgets and who want a seamless connection with an iPhone and or iPad should always check Macbooks out.
Those Apple stores are fantastic.
Why didn’t you add sponsored to the video
Indeed, I've had various Windows PCs throughout my life, which have often led to disappointment.
For sure. What laptop do you use now?
Mac over PC any day, but whoever added the notch should be fired!
Dude I know, what a stupid decision!!
What of for desktops?
I’ve gotten that question a few times. I’m going to do a follow up video about that so get subbed!
I don’t think it would be expensive. You can find free alternatives to almost anything these days
Macs: Build quality ✔️
Windows PC: Every other thing
Haha they have a bit more going for them than that
macs: Build quality, battery life, reliability, performance
Windows laptops: every other thing like buggy os, forced updates, viruses, blue screen, clunky, multiple visits to repair center. flimsy build etc.
I use the Dell XPS 2023 and and M2 Air, trust me I can't replace 1 for the other.
@@ibawon Thats because you probably play games or use some other app which absolutely needs windows.
The resale value of macbooks is also better. Windows machines lose value so fast.
True, I’ve learned that lesson multiple times haha
Man made his point
100%
Why does everybody compare Macs in terms of laptops? What about a desktop?)
Most people buy laptops, but if it were compared to a desktop, I still love macs but I also love building pcs so I'm good either way. If I had to chose one though I would still go mac.
A 500$ Mac Mini runs as a 1500$ PC? In your dreams mate!
Nope!
Agree that having iPhone is great to share with MBP but it costs too much when Android like OnePlus cost less while providing alot of new tech. Although...bec of me having OP12, idk to get ipad to pair with MBP or OnePlus pad 2 to pair with OP12.
Yeah I personally would go the apple route but I’m a sheep lol
Would u ever try the fold 6 Samsung?
I’d love to try it!
I just can't bring myself to buy a mac. I find the company has such questionable behaviour, I think I'd question my purchase if I ignored these feelings just to get the fastest laptop.
I mean Microsoft is just as sketchy. Gotta go Linux to get away from the sketch
Do i also need Apple care ± ?
I don’t get it but it’s up to you
Tough to argue against these good reasons.

I still don’t get it why people call it Mac vs PC? Macbooks are also PC’s
