      That thread sealant doesn't specifies it is good for abs, it only says PVC, is this what is commonly used?

    With the modern technology such as PEX, ABS & PBC and ProPress it's a joy to repipe your own house (as I did recently). Also I get a feeling that plumbers make a ton of money these days. Maybe when I retire from my long running software engineering career I'll become a plumber :).

    Shouldn't you have replaced the "T" and the steel (galvanized?) pipe to the left of it with ABS piping as well? Leaving that rusted out T is just asking for another leak!

    • @FixitAll

      Of course better to replace all steel pipes.
      But this is a lot off work, and the owner was not ready to spend a lot of money for now.

    Around 2:45, it looks like that threaded part came loose pretty easy.
    Was that unusual ?
    Is that rusty threaded part usually quite hard to remove ?
    I need to do the same, but I'm afraid of causing a new leak in that area.
    So maybe I should just be safe and leave 1 foot or so and use a no hub coupling like you did on the other end.
    My pipe is not rotten at that area where you put the male adapter,
    but most of the rest of the pipe is very bad.
    My pipes are about 75 yr old.

    • @FixitAll
      @FixitAll  2 месяца назад

      Steel pipe was damaged by rust because of thin steel wall. The triple elbow cast iron and 1/4" thick. So I'm not worried about it and it will stay another 50 years.

    Let’s say you can’t get the pipe unthreaded. Can you hack it off and use a flexible splice just like on the right side? I mean if it’s in good condition.

    • @FixitAll

      Yes, you can use a rubber coupler. Same staff pro plumber used in garages, parking spaces above the ceiling to connect together cust iron pipes.
