      let me ask u something...i wear tight clothes and very tight bras...in the last 3 weeks, once every few days i have a short breath...i will USE A BETTER BRA AND DO THESE SWINGS...IM SURE IT WILL HELP.

    • @EricSherrell
      @EricSherrell  4 года назад +4

      @@teddybears4life240 Yes. You might be having some tightness issues with the clothing. Most likely the clothing is not the cause, but is making the internal stagnation you have worse. Wear some looser clothing and do the arm swings. Report back and let me know how things are going. Wish you the best! :)

  • @EricSherrell
    @EricSherrell  11 лет назад +7

    Yes, exactly. You've nailed it. This exercise is basically running for your arms, without the impact. Instead, you are lengthening, stretching, strengthening and pumping your arms. This reduces impact strain, increases oxygenated blood, pumps your Lungs and Heart, and strengthens your shoulder girdle. Try it out. Do 50 per day for 1 week. Then increase 50 every week. Try this for 1 month, in addition to your normal exercises. Report back with your progress. You will Love it! :)

    I have COPD and my Blood Oxygen level is usually around 93%. As I have finally stopped smoking (it's only been a week), I am looking for anything that will help to slow down this disease. I did the one hundred (it was difficult for me as I have become rather inactive since my diagnosis over a year ago) but I finished. I gave myself a few minutes to rest and then took my oximeter reading. I couldn't believe that I held a 97% reading for almost 5 minutes. I will check it again in an hour or so. I am sure that it will have leveled out again near 93-94 which is normal (for me) but it really encouraged me greatly. I had to try a few different ways to inhale and exhale so that I was not becoming breathless and around the 50th time, I found my rhythm. My pulse rate also did not rise as I would have imagined. I intend on using this every day and will try to do the hundred several times through my day to build up to what feels comfortable. I am convinced this will help to live more comfortable and it, at least, makes me feel like I am more active. Thank you!

    You are moving energy from your feet to your legs to your torso to your upper body. I saw a similar vid years ago and use this. It works!!👍

      Right on. Pumping blood and visceral fluid throughout the body utilizing the arms mostly. Different language about the same subject. But, yes...you are correct. I've trained in internal martial arts (and others) for the past 20 years and am a Doctor of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine. I find that the average person listens more when you talk in the language they are already used to. Like an English speaker speaking Spanish to Spanish speakers. That's all. ;) Are you doing the exercises? Love to hear back from you! Keep up the Great work!! :)

    Thank you for pointing out the important of this exercise, as my old teacher of 20 years ago did make us do this 150 times before each Chi gong and Tai Chi class, by saying that this exercise helps to get rid of our daily tension....

      Eric Sherrell Well, you may be disappointed, Eric, in that my doctor has diagnosed my chief problem as Congestive Heart Failure, so - of course - a breathing exercise won't be of much help.

      Charlie Cassowary Thank you for sharing. You are Amazing! You are correct. The exercises will not reverse your CHF. They will however keep it from getting worse. The extra oxygen will thin your blood more and help you from throwing a clot. So keep up the Great work! Much Love!! ❤️🤘😄🕺

This exercise certainly makes you sharper and more energized and I do have some shoulder issues so this has also helped as well to get the blood flowing and the healing to that area.. Nice one!!! This will be an everyday exercise. Easy to do and effective. Thank you for sharing!!!

      hello, sorry to bother you. i just noticed it's been 5 years and i wanted to ask you how you are doing now - do you still do this, and if so, is your lung function any better? do you think you could say your oxygen intake is about the same as it was prior to smoking?
      thank you in advance :)

    I wouldn't call it monkey arms if I was as tall as a door (just teasing), but I can tell it works... last doctor's visit 2 weeks ago I had 100% blood oxygen despite having a bad bronchitis. Doing this made me feel like I had been hyperventilating. Thanks man!

    Thanks for this video...I've been looking for tips to increase my lung capacity. I started swimming and find that I'm not able to make the 25m length. I'm out of air and dying frequently. I will certainly be trying this... as well as some diaphragmatic breathing.. Looking fwd to your other videos. You've got another subscriber👍👏

      Eric: I've added this to my AM routine since December 2018 -- 150 reps. It helps me focus on drawing air from my diaphragm to my upper chest as well as stretching my upper body. It has actually improved my singing voice. Nice to do facing an open window -- I live above Balboa Park in San Diego where the air is nicely filtered by all the trees, etc. Thank you; Happy Halloween! 💀👻😈 10/2019

    That is Awesome Bro! Right on! That's what I love to hear. Fo sho. ;) This exercise is directed at opening your Lungs and Heart. The emotion of the Heart is Laughter, hence your laughing. The Lungs move the Qi in the body. Stuck flow, open the Lungs. Sounds like you're already kickin butt in this arena, so you felt it very powerfully. It made my day to read your comment above! Thank you. ;) Keep up the great work! Will have more videos out soon. :)

    That is a very good question. It really depends on the person and their level of fitness. The more fit the longer it lasts. Probably make you feel better for a few hours if you're bad off and make you feel good for a whole day if you're really healthy. This is an exercise that is cumulative. You have to do this exercise every day for a few months to really start seeing the longer lasting effects. Ain't nothin good come from slackin. ;)
