I would like to take a moment to thank Regan for gushing over the bear and the nightingale so much last year, currently half way through book 3 and in love with the series
I have read 'The Merciful Crow' from your recommendations and I'm in Love.... I'm absolutely heartbroken to know that I have to wait for the next book to come out....I really really Loved it Thank you so much.....This is the second book that I picked up because of you and the first being the 'Shades of Magic' Trilogy and I enjoyed both immensely 😁
Regan!! You have to pick up The Poppy War by RF Kuang. Honestly the best adult fantasy series in a while! You will LOVE! (hopefully 😂) it has a strong political plot, great complicated characters and it’s heavily influenced by the Sino-Japan war!!
I loved Fireborne! I’m a teen librarian and I have told a couple of teachers I think it would be so cool to teach alongside Plato’s Republic - I can just see it generating so much classroom discussion in terms of what governmental philosophy might actually look like in action... and the pros and cons. Anyways, I only picked this up because you liked it and I just adored it, so thank you!
I love seeing Jonathan Strange & Mr Norell around again! It’s a great beast of a book that took me a whole year to read in 2006 but it’s so good. It’s been on my reread for a long time since then but other books have distracted me.
I dont read fantasy but I love listening to ya. Such an eloquent speaker. Do you ever read authors such as Gillian Flynn? Please give my love to Ms. Matilda. 😘
I want to marathon The Bear and The Nightingale trilogy this winter ❄️😍 Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel is so great for Winter. This TV series is also great 😊...
Regan, if you loved the Bear and the Nightingale I highly recommend Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. I don’t know if you’ve already read it but that book is amazing and also highly inspired by Russian folklore.
I've been waiting for this video!! I think that was yesterday that I was looking on your channel for the winter recs!! I'm traveling soon so these books are coming with me now haha.
Yess! I didn’t know The Lies of Locke Lamora is good for winter and I didn’t plan on picking it up soon, but this video has made me want to pick it up!!
I just finished the Diviners by Libba Bray which I feel could be both Halloween (definitely) but to me there's something about the charismatic atmosphere that I just get sucked into. I always think of going to far off places in winter, whether it's back in time or to a fantasy world. I'm starting Lair of Dreams and can't wait to continue with this series!
also if you’re looking for a more spooky fantasy which is very atmospheric in a cold & blustery winter setting is “House of Salt and Sorrow” by Erin A. Craig. Such a spooky read with lots of great characters and setting!
I bought the Clarke book early this year and haven’t attempted it yet. Maybe this winter will be the time. (I’m one of the few who did not enjoy Bear&theNightingale but I agree it’s definitely an atmospheric read.)
Could you make a video showing your library? You can take a camera and walk around whole house and show every shelf. Not every book, but all the shelfs. The end of 2019 edition :-) It would be very interesting. I just like that kind of vids.
i am currently reading Eragon for the first time. His dark materials the first book i dont know why always reminds me of wintertime. think its the title lol northern lights. on a side note i love your jumper i have a dress inthe same pattern.
Hey Reagan have you started the blinding white? I discovered this serieS thanks to you and it is one of my favorites of all time. Want to hear your thoughts on it.
@Brown Girl Reads I just found it boring and slow. But then again I'm not used to reading this genre so that probably had something to do with it as well. It is really well written though, so I still recommend you give it a try.

I always try to read The Dark Is Rising by Susan Cooper around Christmas! It's a very arthurian legend- based story and the ambience is just 👌👌👌👌
Watching this makes me want to pick up my copy of Harry Potter and the sorcerers stone
I bought the Clarke book early this year and haven’t attempted it yet. Maybe this winter will be the time. (I’m one of the few who did not enjoy Bear&theNightingale but I agree it’s definitely an atmospheric read.)
