Cannot even BELIEVE how much I loved Truly, Devious - absolutely demolished the series! Aaaaaand I was beyond excited to see that Marueen Johnson is writing the fourth one and I cannot wait! Great video, as per usual ❤️
I’m sooo early!! Choosing to study till the wee hours of the morning has been the best choice i’ve made today.. i mean yesterday 🥺 Can’t wait to read after my exams!!
I've had Things In Jars since it was a BOTM selection and I've never felt like picking it up until you just described it. Victorian murder Mysteries? SIGN ME UP.
I'm really excited for Piranesi by Susanna Clarke (same author as Jonathan strange & Mr Norell, but this one is really short), it just came out and it seams really strange and atmospheric
Ninth House is a great Fall read for sure, I read it recently and really enjoyed it! I am finishing up Broken Earth now and need to pick up the Inheritance Trilogy soon! I have loved everything I have read by NK Jemisin so far.
I would recommend Home Before Dark by Riley Sager, The Stalking Jack the Ripper series is so to read during the fall time. I also loved The Beautiful which I read last week and it felt like the perfect time to read it during the spooky/Fall season. Finally, Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin is a book full of witches and magic. :) Happy Reading everyone!
I read the entire Truly Devious trilogy this August and really loved it! It’s definitely perfect for fall! I love Fall reads and I really want to read Ninth House, Things in Jars, The Inheritance Trilogy, The 7.5 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, and Robin Hobb!❤️
Another great video. I'm a seasonal reader. I love Ninth House, if you enjoyed that you should definitely read The Secret History by Donna Tartt if you haven't already
One of my favourite autumn books of last year was Small Spaces by Katherine Arden! A very spooky middle grade book about friendship and bravery and a trip to a farm with a smiling man and creepy scarecrows. I would also say the Raven Cycle is fitting for autumn, as is The House of Salt and Sorrows, Serpent and Dove, and all of Jane Austen’s and Haruki Murakami’s books ☺️
The Winternight Trilogy! Kitchens of the Great Midwest by J. Ryan Stradal would be a great fall choice too since food is central to the story. Fall means cozy food in mind.
Great recommendations! I would recommend Stalking Jack the Ripper. I finally picked it up and absolutely adored it. Now I am reading the entire series this fall!
I think the second book is even better than the first! But I couldn't finish the series because I think the other books weren't nearly as good as the first two.
All these books sound awesome and very fall-like! I’ve had a couple of them on my bookshelves for a while, but they’ve definitely been bumped up my tbr pile so that I get to them this autumn!!
You may like Dean Koontz’s Odd Thomas series! Regular ole guy but he can see ghosts that flock to him in order for him to solve their deaths/get closure. He also can tell when a mass casualty is going to happen so we follow as he tries to prevent one! Dark but humorous!
OMG THANK YOU!!! I read Ever Lost in jr. High and I could not for the life of me remember the name of it and couldn't find it for so long! I remember loving it!
Hi Regan, love the channel!! Thanks for the recommendation. One question, I don't know which series to start with N K Jemisin, the 5th season or Inheritance? What do suggest?
Honestly either or! Both are amazing triologies in their own right and I don't think you can go wrong with which ever you pick up. I think the Inheritance Trilogy might be a bit easier of an introduction but really no wrong move here
Just found your channel and I love these recommendations. Definitely adding a few to my list! I've been wanting to get into more murder-mystery and I'm excited to have a few options to get me started! I think The Hazel Wood is a good fall read. I found it pretty creepy at times!
Great list - I enjoyed The Seven and a Half Deaths of Evylyn Hardcastle, and the Truly Devious trilogy. I need to try NK Jemisin, probably beginning with the Inheritance trilogy since you recommend it.
I would be curious as to your scary/spooky/horror recommendations, something along the lines of Steven King or books like “The Shadows” or Riley Sager’s “Home Before Dark”. My favorite thus far is “The Sundown Motel” by Simone St. James. Very spooky!!
Hi Regan! I own The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, but is there a difference between Seven deaths or Seven and a half deaths? I'm a bit confused lol I'm not sure if they're two books or just one
Hi Regan, I have been wanting to pick up some of N.K. Jemisin's books for a while, but I was wondering if you recommend starting with the Broken Earth's trilogy or the Inheritance Trilogy.
I’m a 33 year old woman who was just gifted the first five books of the mortal instruments series. I mostly read character driven experimentative fiction and thrillers. Do you think I would like the mortal instruments or should I give it to a deserving teenager?
Deserving teenager. Mostly surrounding romance and most of the elements of the book is "borrowed" from others in the fantasy genre. If you think you might like it read the first book. I read the series and in the end I felt that the whole lot was a massive waste of time.
Arent you participating in the elderlingalong? Ur reading all of the books at all the right times but u never talk about the readalong :p. Im 2 books behind lmao
ughhhh I really wish ppl would mention the ridiculous fatphobia in EVELYN HARDCASTLE when recommending it. like it’s fine if that doesn’t personally bother you, but it’s absolutely something a reader should be warned about before going in IMO. it’s like JK Rowling’s fatphobia about the Dursleys x 1000000 and it made me 1-star the book.
I think it's worth noting a content warning for The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle; I believe it's on day four that the narrator takes on the body of a larger person and there is RAMPANT fatphobia throughout the entire chapter. I couldn't stand to read beyond that chapter so just a warning to anyone who is interested in the book!
You must be upset with Harry Potters author..... you always suggest Harry Potter books in the Fall 😊 I get it though, I just know they are always recommended by you in the Fall 🍁 😊
To all those who enjoy well-written detective fiction/whodunit style stories with amazing characters at their heart, I HIGHLY recommend the Cormoran Strike series by J K Rowling. The fifth book just came out, but make sure you read the books in order of publication. :)
Do you have any fic recs? I am reading my way around the world at the moment and the only translated book I can get my hands on from an author from Paraguay, for example, is the autobiography of a footballer. Not my style at all! I am particularly interested in fantasy/sci-fi works. I have already started on the Witcher books and have Karen Lord and Liu Cixin on my TBR.
I accidentally left my RUclips speed on 1.25 from something I was watching before, and I was like, Wow Reagan is REALLY excited today.
😂😂😂😂😂
Cannot even BELIEVE how much I loved Truly, Devious - absolutely demolished the series! Aaaaaand I was beyond excited to see that Marueen Johnson is writing the fourth one and I cannot wait! Great video, as per usual ❤️
the truly devious series is quite unexpected like the killer was someone i was not expecting it's so cool
I’m sooo early!! Choosing to study till the wee hours of the morning has been the best choice i’ve made today.. i mean yesterday 🥺
Can’t wait to read after my exams!!
Things in Jars sounds like my perfect book!! Fall is my season so very excited for the sweater weather in NYC that we've been having.
I've had Things In Jars since it was a BOTM selection and I've never felt like picking it up until you just described it. Victorian murder Mysteries? SIGN ME UP.
Would totally recommend The Price Guide to the Occult. Who doesn't love a witch driven mystery filled with murder and a dark spooky ambiance.
I think Stalking Jack the ripper is also a good fall read! 😊
I'm really excited for Piranesi by Susanna Clarke (same author as Jonathan strange & Mr Norell, but this one is really short), it just came out and it seams really strange and atmospheric
Same!! I hope to get it and read it eventually lol
Ninth House is a great Fall read for sure, I read it recently and really enjoyed it!

@@shelbylewis8722 aw thats sad:( honsetly its so out of my comfort zone (i generally only read fantasy) that it ended up working out for me:)
I loved that book too! Put me in the mood for more scary books, pet semetary is on my tbr for October lol!
Those Robin Hobb books... Sound so epic and immersive.
The Winternight Trilogy!
Kitchens of the Great Midwest by J. Ryan Stradal would be a great fall choice too since food is central to the story. Fall means cozy food in mind.

I don’t think so! I think it’s a difference between US and he UK title
7 1/2 deaths definitely is vibes. The atmosphere and vibe of the setting is the thing that i love about it the most.
