i read some really bizarre books this month... | april reading wrap up
Dance of Thieves has a is actually a sequel to the Kiss of Deception trilogy if you didn’t know. It’s kinda of like a whole Shadow of Bones and Six of Crows situations. The big war happens in Kiss of Deception and the main character is Kazi’s queen. Dance of thieves is a few years in the future.
Omggg I’m in the middle of DoT! I wish I knew this. I always felt like I was missing some background history and worldbuilding oops
Feel like Cari is going to be like "oh no..." when she finds out
Should I read Kiss of Deception first before DoT?
@@hillaryb5799 I would if you’re interested in reading it, I enjoyed it overall. But there are lots of people who don’t and still enjoy Dance of Theives too!
I realized that when I read the authors note at the end hahah but i also read six of crows first so maybe thats just how i enter into these universes😂😂
The fact that she mentioned The Cruel Prince trilogy has become her favorite since the reread literally made my day.
😂😂
Same
"Their nicknames had nicknames." I laughed at this because it's so true! In Russia, every name has, like, at least three different nicknames. Like an Anna can have the nicknames Anya, Anechka, Anusha, Anyuta, etc. It's kind of fun, but definitely confusing at first.
For the Bear and the nightingale,, it's deep in folklore and it seems kind of trope-y when you first read it but each book gets deeper and deeper.. it's something where you can't just read the first one you have to read the whole series. As a whole it's one of my favorites but I understand where you coming from with the first one.
I cant wait to finish it!
Dance of thieves & vow of thieves takes place in the same universe as the “remnant chronicles” thats why you’re expected to know a bunch of stuff. It is recommended you right those first, but I personally didnt
Definitely going to read them!!
Book 2 of Bear and the Nightingale is my favorite in the series. It makes you FEEL cold even in the dead of summer. A whole vibe.
Yay, I'm so happy people are finally talking about Dance of Thieves! 😁
I didn't read the Kiss of Deception series, so I had no knowledge about the world or its history, but I felt like Mary E. Pearson did a great job introducing bits and pieces of the background into these books.
I love it SO MUCH
when I read Stalking Jack the Ripper series, I just automatically aged everyone up. Same with Six of Crows
Exactly 🥲
I do that too cause I’m sick of authors only using 16-18 year olds, can they stop?
@@proseandcons7730 I think Six of Crows was meant to make a point on how said it was children were being forced to play these roles
So excited you read the Bear and the Nightingale! I read it at the height of winter this year, so I think that really made me fall in love with it. The prose is just gorgeous! Your point about Russian names is SO VALID though!! I hope you enjoy the rest of the series! Maybe it will have a Cruel Prince-level redemption arc, Sincerely a Cardan apologist (your explanation of this had me rolling btw).
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
let’s gaurr !!! thank you always for making each month complete with your wrap-ups. 💗💗
Thank YOU!
Dance of Thieves and Vow of Theives was one of my favorite reads of last year
YESSS
If you're ever looking for some quick fantasy reads and you don't mind middle reader books, the Fablehaven series is one of my go to comfort reads. Love them.
Just so you know Dance of Thieves is a follow-up to Mary E Pearson's trilogy The Kiss of Deception, so that might explain some of the issues with world building!
Also, re The Bear and the Nightingale, the multiple diminutives of names is a very typical Russian thing, my own name has several nicknames to go with it, but I know that in the physical books Katherine Arden has guides for how those work and also usually some other historical information - not sure if that would still be the case for e-books. I'm so excited that you're reading those books! As someone who grew up very entrenched in that folklore and practice, that series has always felt like a really thoughtful and graceful reworking of them to me, as well as an excellent reflection of Russian literature (i.e. very very slow pacing haha!)
*looks at dance of thieves that’s been on my shelf for so long*
👀
Why does Kazi remind me of Kaz... thief, pickpocketing, even the NAME😂
Ok here are my Stalking Jack the Ripper thoughts: you said something in your last video like "I liked it, but I could not tell you why," and that's exactly how I felt about the first two. I didn't know the history so the digression the second book took didn't bother me. I read the first three in really rapid succession at the beginning of the pandemic and it was great escapism but looking back?? They were not good. I have yet to finish the fourth one even after picking it up multiple times over the last two years.
By the time I reached book four I was only reading it for the romance so when that little corkscrew of Thomas-Being-Engaged-Without-Knowing-It popped up I think I legitimately threw the book down??? One of the worst possible twists imo. I also could not tell you what the plot outside the romance is in that book. Maybe I'll finish it someday but probably not. If you've read this far, Cari, thank you as always for the amazing book content! Your channels are a joy. Have fun in Europe!!
I hadn’t finished the last book either but that spoiler. I guffawed out loud. Wtf
reading CTD felt like the author was ready to be done with the series and as a result, I was also ready to be finished with it 😭😭
Yeah when that happened i was like “oh the author ran out of plot lmao”
I personally didn't like the first of the Winternight Trilogy nearly as much as the second. I felt like it was necessary and laid the groundwork for a lot of relationships and characters, but the story in the second is so much better. The third is on my tbr this month.
🙏🙏🙏🙏
When I read The bear and the nightingale I was like "holy shit are there 14 siblings?!?" Then I realized they all had like 5 nicknames and not all of them made sense. So confusing!
I liked the Stalking jack the ripper series, I read it around Halloween and it was the creepy ambiance I wanted. I was disconcerted that the books unfolded over a couple weeks though. I just imagined them older than they were because there ain't no way teens going through all that and still flirty well adjusted people.
The Renegade series I thought had an unrealistic ending and can't wait to hear your thoughts.
The Dance of thieves duology I found okay. I liked the first one but skimmed the second after I almost DNFed after 100 pages.
Exactly 😂😂😂 and yeah i cant believe this all happened in barely 2 months?!!
I did the same with the dance of thieves series, I remember liking the first one - I couldn’t get into the second one enough to finish reading it and I don’t remember why, but I know I tried to finish it more than once haha
felt basically the exact same way about dance of thieves - for most of the book i didn’t want to pick up the sequel but that last page 😭😭 now i have to read the next book
I took a small workshop class taught by Kathleen Arden (author of the bear and the nightingale)~ she’s a very kind woman! It makes sense that you felt that the book was a little bit extra fairy tale like, as she was heavily heavily inspired by Russian folklore for the entire thing, as well as the vibes! She also speaks and writes Russian~ She offered to help us all with any future writing endeavors, which I may hopefully take her up on during NaNoWriMo this year😊
The bear and the nightingale series is amazing. Just found you and really enjoyed your video.😊
Your hair looks so good cari😭😭
The Inheritance of Orchidea Divina just sounds like Encanto but 🌶🌶🌶 and I am here for it.
That being said I've watched other BookTubers talk about this book and rave about it and I was still left feeling meh about it. After listening to your recap of it I wanna read it so bad!
@@little.tricks well I didn't mean spicy like that, I meant it more as in not targeted to small children 😅
Did you read the girl who fell beneath the sea by axie oh yet? I personally really liked that. I will also never stop recommending the Angels of Elysium series by Olivia Wildenstein since that was such a lovely trilogy that made me have all the feels while it still also has an interesting system about the Angels which the plot really revolved around as well. The first book is Feather
The Winternight trilogy become one of my favourite 🥰
Hi Cari!! ❤I would highly, HIGHLY recommend that you - and literally everyone else - that reads Dance of Thieves first read Pearson's OTHER ya fantasy trilogy called 'The Remnant Chronicles,' which is set about 10-14 years before the Dance of Thieves duology.
Way back in 2020, I really wanted to read DoT, but then when I realize that there were books that came before it, I decided to read the Remnant Chronicles first, and damn, I'm SO GLAD that I did!! I understand how reading DoT would be really jarring if you haven't already read the series that came before it... since TRC is all about the impending war, the different kingdoms in DoT, and literally everything else of importance that you need to know before - and while - you read DoT. The Queen of the Kingdom of Venda in DoT is actually the main character in the Remnant Chronicles.
The Remnant Chronicles has literally one of the best, and most-twisted villains that I've ever read from a ya series. Seriously, the villian had me screaming and crying at many points throughout the series. Not to mention, the characters in TRC are super amazing; the main character, Lia, is such a #girlboss, and literally is a princess but doesn't give a shit about anything or anyone lol! And the two male leads are just, well, incredible, to say the least.😂 Also, for most of the first book in TRC ('The Kiss of Deception), Lia is working at a friend's tavern to hide from some evil people/the wedding she abandoned, back in her kingdom. She falls in love with TWO separate guys - Rafe and Kaden - but the whole time that she gets to know them, she doesn't know who they really are; since one is the prince of a neighboring kingdom that she RAN AWAY FROM just before they were about to get married, and the other is a assassin sent by the trilogy's villian to kill her. The entire book, both Lia, and you as the reader don't know who is who, and this aspect of it will literally will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Also, the romance is chef's kiss 😩 I like to argue that it's even better than DoT, and the male leads in TRC actually aren't toxic, for once. 💀
I was blown away by how much I LOVED the TRC trilogy when I read it - since I was not expecting to like it that much. Soon enough, it quickly became one of my fav series of all time! So yes, Cari, after you're done reading Vow of Thieves, I'd highly recommend that you try out the Remnant Chronicles because in my opinion, the world building, plot line, and characters are even better in the precursor trilogy! Much love from Florida~ 🥰💗
Yes i plant to ahhh!
If you're looking for a sure-fire hit, I would definitely recommend T. Kingfisher! Her new book Nettle&Bone was just released last week and it is SUCH cool adventure with some really great characters and overall story themes. It's a #1 indie bestseller, so I promise it's not just me ;)
love!! I’m currently reading the Darker Shade of Magic series!!
how is it so far?
Yessssss!!!
The winternight trilogy gets better each book... I absolutely loved it.
Dance of thieves is on my TBR and i am very hesitant somehow to pick it up. I think i should just dive in. Also stalking jack the ripper, first two books i enjoyed can't say the same for the last two
I have an upcoming midterms exam tomorrow but here i am living life to the fullest with cari
Hope it went well!!!
I have the Bear and the Nightingale in my TBR... It is coming to winter in Australia so perhaps the mood will be right?
For kindle read, since you have Kindle Unlimited, I would suggest to check out the Bridge Kingdom series. I think it is a great series. I know you don't rate the author's Songbird series but she definitely has improved since then!
The Bear and the Nightingale definitely just feels like folklore vibes and beautiful writing. I liked it a lot though haha. I'm not one for slow storytelling, but it's done in a way that's not terrible imo
Exactly!
Oh nooo. I was so excited seeing Shoko's Smile in the thumbnail but it was kinda glossed over 😭 Man... I love that book & it deserves so much hype!!!
I feel like a lot of people (myself included) aren't finding books this year that we can't stop talking about, most are like "well, that's another book read" 🥲 I don't know if anyone's told you but if you want to read something very cute and heartwarming you should go for Heartstopper, and also watch the show 'cause it's extremely cute as well ❤️
Yesss i talked about heartstopper on my Instagram when i binged it last week hahha
I loved the renegades, man, it's like my hero academia but flipping the script so that the "antagonist" is the main character.
i picked up the bear and the nightingale last year but could not finish it. i thought it was because it was summer and the vibes were not matching but everything you said also makes sense for why i couldn’t do it lol but ill try again this winter :,) (south hemisphere gang here)
Definitely a cold weather read😂😂😂
Have you read any of Julie Kagawa's books? I started with Immortal Rules and fell in love. Went on to her Iron Fey series and read the rest of her books from there. She is amazing. The way she builds her characters and their relationships 😢😭❤️
The Bear and the Nightingale, I loved it! Realy like the whole Winter Night trilogy. The second book is mijn favoriet of the three
So happy to see you read it
I completely understand how you feel about the bear and the nightingale. The first hundred pages was a lot to trudge through and I didn’t realize she was 17 until about 75%. I legit thought she was 13 during the forest cabin scenes. The second book is better because there’s more adventure and romance and court politics.
I enjoyed the whole series of stalking Jack the Ripper. I do see that if they had been aged up slightly even by two years it would have seemed more realistic. I think the reason I enjoyed the series was because I felt like it was even with the murder-mystery and the romance (this series is from James Patterson’s imprint) and I had felt like Audrey Rose was multidimensional. That she wanted to study medicine to be a coroner while knowing she was still bound the rules for women of society and still wanted be feminine and act by the rules of social proprietary. I found it more refreshing because I had also read a book around the same time which is set about the same historical time period and the character had similar ambitions of studying medicine but I found the main character unlikeable and had to DNF.
The dance of thieves duology is a companion series to the remnant chronicles trilogy and that’s why it might seem like there’s not a lot of world building because it’s a continuation of three other books. This series would be similar to reading once upon a broken heart and not having read the caraval series. I would recommend going back and reading the remnant chronicles.
”everyone had like 5 nicknames” that’s how you know it’s russian literature lol, drives me crazy too. I love they way you talk about books, very non-pretentious and lowkey, it really feels like sitting down with a good friend and just chatting away.
Oooh, A magic steeped in poison has catched my eye 👀... think i'm gonna be reading that one soon 🤔. Thank you for the recommendations!!
I’m reading dance of thieves right now and saw it in the thumbnail… can’t wait to see what yours thoughts were!!! ❤️
honestly i just finished dot about a week ago its not as quick as in the plots pace but its very based on the actual pairing. i read it for them so i liked it in that case but it was also admittedly boring, youd have to try it yourself to see. its 500 pages long so depending on what you enjoy in a book youd either love it or not so much
Definitely loved the second book more I think!!
So excited to see another video just randomly with you talking about books I'm watching this from my apartment in Italy
archenemies is probably the strongest book in the renegades trilogy, i personally loved the books so i can’t wait to see your opinions on it once you finish it! :) the plot gets much more interesting as the books go on and i loved the plot twists in it
Agreed!! Loved archenemies the most!!
I'm so eager to put my hands on "A magic steeped in Poison"!! I think I'm gonna love it!! But herr in México it's being hard to find even in Amazon 🥺 "The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina" caught my attention 🤤
I'm reading "How high we go in the dark" right now and I would love to hear your thoughts about it! It's similar to Cloud Atlas.
Re: The Bear and the Nightingale: I haven't read the book but I'm pretty sure that the many nicknames for everyone was completely intentional because that's part of Russian culture
man, you really under-served Defy The Night. it deserved way more recognition.
I couldn't finish Shoko's smile either for the same reason, it was so unbearably depressing. Makes me feel better that it wasn't just me!
I'm currently reading the third book in the Remnant Chronicles trilogy, which I've heard is the precursor to Dance of Thieves, so skipping away from your last review, because I don't want to be spoiled for anything! Bear in the Nightingale was slow moving, but the more I sat with it the more I was like wow, that was wonderful. The part with the priest and all the old gods/spirits was so fascinating.
I always look forward to your monthy reads to find any book that catches my attention. This time maybe i'll read The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina next. i kind of wanna give it a try. Especially since i'm currently reading (finally!) Vengeful and want something different after this. I'm really hoping i enjoy it the way i'm enjoying villains series.
I just couldn’t get in to Dance of thieves. I tried 3 times but i just couldn’t get in to it..I am gonna start Kiss of deception now.Thank you all the people in the comment section.
I love how you say sorry for wearing pajamas when you can’t even tell haha love the shirt sm
I wish more people talked about the books of Danielle L Jensen and Melissa Caruso! Two of my insta-buy authors 🥰
I'm currently enjoying "Station Eleven" by Emily St. John Mandel, and "Something to Hide", by Elizabeth George. After that I plan to tackle "The Book of Longings " by Sue Monk Kidd.
I’m reading A Magic Steeped in Poison right now and loving it!! Such fun vibes
Yesss!!
I haven’t read the Jack the Ripper series but I really loved the series by Ambrose Parry starting with ‘the way of all flesh’ (idk what the series is called). It’s set in Scotland in the 1800s and is crime fiction that features some legit historical figures, most notably James Simpson, the guy who discovered chloroform. It weaves history fact with crime fiction (that’s also based on legit cases from the time) and I personally loved it. I think if you go into it knowing it’s not 100% historical crime like it’s advertised as, you’ll enjoy it way more. Also really into the relationships that develops over the series
These are some of my favorites if you haven’t read them You should read:
the atlas six-Olivie Blake
The chronicles of the one trilogy-Nora Roberts
The push-Ashley Audrian
Verity-Colleen Hoover
At the edge of the universe-Shaun David Hutchinson
The villain duology- V.E Schwab
The shades of magic trilogy-V.E schwab
The darkest minds trilogy-Alexandra Bracken
Dorthy must die series-Danielle paige
The vanishing half-Brit Bennett
Congrats to you on your reading 📖 your amazing books 📚 for the last month of April tbr please stay safe and enjoy your reading 📖 I on the other hand started six books 📚 and finished zero books 📚 due to my mental health issues so please stay safe and enjoy your reading love your family friend John xxxx
I can’t wait for all the Europe pretty reading vlogs ❤️
The second and third books of the Winternight Trilogy are much more action packed and exciting!!!
I really liked Renegades but the undercover villain plot was taking me out. I don't think I like plots where someone is undercover and makes friends with the people they're investigating. Because when it's eventually exposed, the closer they were the more devasting the fallout. I have the 2nd book but I haven't started yet because I thought her identity would be revealed in book 1 and now it's like pure anxiety waiting for the reveal in book 2. I like superhero stuff though so I want to read all 3.
You should read Middlegame, it's kind of an alchemy/ fantasy kind of book, and it's soooo good I know you'll love it
I just finished reading The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes, I really liked it.
Are you watching the adaptation on apple TV?
@@elizabeths739 No, I don't have Apple TV :-( but I am also a bit put off by the trailer, it looks like they have changed some of the story.
I read so many books every week that it’s hard for me to find a book that stays in my mind after I read it these days! I did read a gem last month called « a good girl’s guide to murder » which was AMAZING ! It’s a YA thriller/detective/girl tries to find the truth about a murder that happened in her town and it’s so good, I highly recommend it 🥰
ah!! my favourite time of the month😌♥️
😭🙏😭🙏
A recomendation of a book with superheros is The extraordinaries (from TJ Klune, the same author of House in the cerulean sea). It's also YA but it's HILARIOUS and very self aware of the cliché and cringy moments
You should read 'River of Shadows' by Karina Halle. It's a Finnish/Viking myth retelling that is similar to Hades/Persephone.
I've got Renegades! It's propping up my TBR pile 😅 can't see myself getting to it any time soon because I keep buying more books. (Like Gilded. Which so far is suffering the same fate.)
Pajama Cari :) Bear and the Nightingale was very fairy tale. The sequel has more of a plot to it.
I read The Bear and the Nightingale and liked it a lot, but I quit the second one midway through because it was extremely repetitive situationally and I got bored. 😞
Hmmm i have the last two saved in my library so we’ll see!!
Cari please you need to read Aristotle and Dante discovers the secrets of the universe!!!!! You will absolutely love it.
Hey Cari,
If you are looking for book recs may I recommend Dark Rise by C.S. Pacat! It is a ya fantasy book, and I read it earlier this year. I loved it so much I made two of my roommates read it, and they both loved it too. I would highly recommend it, it has really interesting world building, really beautiful friendships, and one of the best executed plots I’ve ever read in ya. It’s also got an interesting LGBTQ+ romance! Overall, I think you would enjoy if!
I don't normally like superhero stories, but I loved the Renegades books. The audiobooks are particularly good. The male narrator has slightly campy superhero tones to his voice, circa 1950s radio vibes. It really adds to the story and is super compelling
The second and third book (which i read after filming this lol) really sold me on the series hahha
If you love gothic- historic murder mysteries like Stalking Jack the Reaper, check out the trilogy of The strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter by Theodora Goss. So good, amazing characters AND a really unique narration style. Based on all sorts of gothic classics like Jakil and Hyde and Frankenstein. Anyway. Read it!
I love the renegades and the dance of theives series!! You should check out your life has been delayed by Michelle Mason! So beautiful and unique. I think you would really like it :) thanks for another amazing video cari!!🥰🤗
Ohhh thank you!
I wish i had a vivid imagination like u when u read. I have aphantasia (I can’t picture anything/no ‘mind’s eye’ so I struggle to create worlds and characters when I read :(
I'm really late.. finally arrived ✌️
Thoughts on videos - no thoughts simply hilarious ,nailed it. ✌️😀😘
The Inheritance of Qrquidea Divina that books was 😍 I was deeply connected to that book...
Have a great trip Cari & Kurt 💜 stay safe
Have you read To Best The Boys by Mary Weber? It's got the coroner/ dead body vibes like Stalking Jack the Ripper but then goes into bit of magical realism with a maze/ spooky competition. It also has a plague like Defy the Night. Anyway, I thought it was a fun book when I read it a couple of years back, and I keep thinking you might like it.
Ohhhhh looking this up asap!
In Jack the Ripper, Audrey Rose's birthday was in the firat chapter, she's 17. In the last one, Thomas's birthday comes up, he's 18
I looooove your shirt! I am a zoologist that aspires to specialise as an ornithologist and would love a shirt like that!!
I loved the kiss of deception but I really just red dance of thieves book for lia (the queen) and she's not really in it that much but if you read the trilogy I recommend just for the old characters that make an appearance
I love how you mimic opening a rib cage when you say “love doing autopsies”
😂😂😂
i cant wait to read dance of thieves!!
The second book is soooo good!
Recommendation: you should read the Angelfall trilogy by Susan Ee. I think it's a really good series but really underrated..
I'm really curious about your opinion about this book
I read Stalking Jack the Ripper then the fourth one in the series because I’m cheap and my library didn’t have them. I didn’t feel like I really missed anything.
First of all, always love getting your unique take -- fully entertaining. Secondly, (not at all related to the content but) has anyone ever compared you to Iliza Shlesinger? It's definitly a vibe -- I dig it ✌️
hi!! thank you so much for being my comfort youtuber! ❤️❤️
🥹🙏🙏
I dnf’d Stalking Jack. I just could not get into the story and the dissection scenes were too gross for me lol. No hate to the author but the characters and the whole father being too over bearing etc reminded of something I would have written as an angsty teenager. I think I’m just getting to old to enjoy some of the tropes in books like these. Also I felt like there was a lot of repeating of scenes but no progression of the plot so I got bored honestly
Have you ever read "Riyria Reveleation"? If you don't I advice you to read it.
Because when I finish last book 2 days ago, I realize, read this book is the most incredible thing i done in my life 😍😁
I’m trying to decide whether I should buy the dance of thieves or we hunt the flame
I want a good enemies to lovers book but when it comes to the world setting I prefer the former but the writing style(and cari loving it so much)we hunt the flame looks better. What should I do cari😢(both are them are not in my library)
Or is there a enemies to lovers standalone i could try??
i would actually try the kiss of deception triology! it comes right before dance of thieves and was honestly CHEFS KISS
@@caricanread ☺️thank you I’ll give it a try!!
vow of thieves is amazing, if not better than the first. its more plot based and dangerous and just pure goodness
Agreed!
Love your shirt btw !
why does this video make me want to get back into my pajamas (even tho i just changed into actual clothes like fifteen minutes ago)?
Hehhehee
Love your hair!! Is it in layers?
I have nothing against changing the history to fit the plot of a book. That's the choice of the author. BUT PLEASE: declare this in the book! Declare the changes! Some authors already do that and I think that's the best way to do it. Why not add the historical context at the end of the book to teach the readers what actually went down?
For me there also needs to be a good reason within the book itself. There must be a good reason why there are such changes and not just the author wanted it that way. History is not an old folk tale passed around and shaped for current standards.
i didn’t know a lot about history the first time i read stalking jack the ripper (i still don’t, honestly) and even back then i was already bothered by the historical inaccuracies. and i also never liked audrey rose throughout all four books - the author really pushed the whole girlboss narative to the point where it was kind of sickening and, you know, not historically accurate at all. but i adore thomas, still my favorite male character ever, and i looove their romance (not in book three, though *cough*). so yeah, i actually only continue the series for the romance, and i bet so does other people, because the plots were wackyyy
Giiiiiiirlll is that how you look on pijamas you for real? You look gorgeous and your hair is amazing
I read the Bear and the Nightingale back in February. I actually read on audiobook so I didn't have the whole reading experience. It was little weird to me, like vasya grows up from 8 something to 16 to when the plot actually starts, so I didn't know that 60% of the first book is her back story. I liked it (I thought I was gonna LOVE it) It's a russian mythology based fantasy and that was so different to than any fantasy book I read. But there was something missing that I can't put my finger on. So I didn't read the sequal cause of it. I'll probably read it with you now 😂
And for some reason I read wolf and the woodsman by ava reid first (because it was marketed that it's like Bear and the Nightingale and I thought I'd so love it so lemme read this anyway) it's an terrible book. Never read it. If anyone tells you to read wolf and the woodsman don't believe them. It's the worse book I've ever read.
i read pure colour last month and def felt like i was trudging through it lol
