spoiler for kiss of deception! dont you dare spoil this PLEASE READ IT YOURSELF AND COME BACK . . . . . . . . So there are multi POVs and it is Lia, Rife, and Kaden but then sometimes she will give us the POV of "the prince" and "the assassin." I thought that it was SO obvious who was who, I didn't even think that that was meant to be a twist in any way. Like I just thought she was being weird and not using their names, just deciding to call them 'prince' sometimes because she's the author and she can lol. It didn't cross my mind that I as the reader had to choose who I thought was which part. So when i was WRONG and had the two of them switched, I was actually kind of mad. I first thought that this is where the fantasy element was introduced and Rife was glamouring himself to look like Kaden to trick Lia?? IDK. But then reading back, she wrote it so cleverly that I didn't even notice the little time jumps and her vague writing in the "prince" and "assassin" chapters. Truly flabbergasted. I had to reread a lot of the book just to continue hahaha amazing work :')
Hahaha yesss, I literally reacted the same way the first time I read the book in 2020!! 😂 It usually takes a lot for a plot twist to absolutely throw me (the price I must pay for having read for so many years lol), but this huge twist definitely threw me for a loop. While reading it, my brain was short-circuiting and I was like, wait.... he's WHO?!?! 🤣
She does an amazing job! It’s surprise is spoiled a little bit by the audiobook because the narrators are different, but I of course had to go back and figure out who’s voice was whose. 😂
I had them mixed up the first time I read the book, too! Literally, I thought that it was obvious who was who, and then it turned I was wrong. I will say, though, I've read the whole trilogy and I think it does get more predictable. Also, this might be just me, but I wasn't completely happy with they way the series concluded.
I'm so happy you enjoyed the Kiss of Deception trilogy! The experience of reading the first book and being flabbergasted by the plot twist is something we can all relate to

This makes me want to read the series. A friend of mine who loves Fantasy recommended it to me. I hope it doesn't disappoint. I am not the biggest fan of Fantasy, I prefer Historical Fiction.
Cari! I went on my Paris solo trip!! It definitely had ups and downs but I’m so so proud of myself for doing it! I went to Shakespeare and Co and The Abbey Bookshop and got a couple books cause of course I had to :) and I went to a Christmas market and saw the waterlily paintings at the Musee de L’Orangerie ❤️ Anyway thank you so so much for being such an inspiration for me to push myself to do more scary but rewarding things. Love you lots! 💕
I can’t express how happy I am that you’ve finally read the remnant chronicles!❤i always feel so sad when i see people struggle through dance of thieve first😂. glad you enjoyed them and that they’re getting the recognition they deserve, i re-read/listen to those books on repeat (such a comfort series)☺️😂❤
Can I read dance of thieves first without getting spoiled for the kiss of deception? Like are there main spoilers about how it ends and who the main character ends up with? I want to read both the series, but my parents gifted me dance of thieves first and I really wanna read it now😭
AS LONG AS THE LEMON TREES GROW is definitely on my favorites of the year list, too. So glad you loved it. Also, I’m picking up the Mary E. Pearson trilogy now! Thanks!
I just stumbled on your channel and I've been binging your reviews and it's so surprising to see someone who reads and enjoys the same semi-obscure books as I do!
I read the Kiss of Deception series in 2019 and its one of my all time favs. Only recently I found out that Dance of Thieves is in the same universe so will be reading those soon 😍
Funny that you said about how Lonely Castle in the Mirror should be a movie because last week I stumbled upon the news it was adapted into an anime movie and it comes out December 23rd in Japan :)
Just reading all the comments below and LOVING the fact that everyone LOVED the remnant chronicles!!!! Let's be friends because that's one my all-time favorite series!!!! Also, CARI Love youu

@@AB-rc8zv There are spoilers if you read Dance of Thieves so I would recommend reading The Remnant Chronicles first. It'll help you understand the duology better and you'll get the references.

I read As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow earlier this month, and damn. It was so beautifully and heartbreakingly written. And the plot with Layla!? Just. Everything was so good. The ending felt a bit rushed to be me, but that was my only critique. It was an amazing book. I can't believe it was a debut.
I mostly agree with you about The Drowned Woods...except the ending!! The middle reminded me of King of Scars but it was going no where, but the ending got me! It definitely made up for the parts that were lacking, so much so that I went back and read The Bone Houses again!! SOOOO GOOD!! Happy Holidays 🎄🕊️🕯️❄️

Ooooh as always, adding so many to my tbr after your wrap up! I loved loved loved Bloodmarked and am already dying for book 3 😭 I agree that this already seems like it's going to be longer than a trilogy. I'm currently reading Gideon the Ninth and recently downloaded the Belladonna audiobook!
I cannot wait to read the Light Pirate! We just went through hurricane Ian here in sw FL and it was so devastating. I feel like this book will be so relatable.
I am SOOOOO GLAD you finally read The Kiss of Deception. I was fuming at the twist and because I was so angry about it….I kept that till the end so wasn’t particularly happy with the end…BUT It’s still one of my all time favorites ever!!!
Your description of "As long as the lemon trees grow" reminded me A LOT of the documentary "For Sama". If you're interested in the war in Syria I would definitely recommend watching (but check the TW as obviously, it's a documentary about war). It's the kind of documentary that changes a person.
I think the high mountain court is a series of linked standalone, if that makes sense? Potentially all follow different couples, but a similar plot line
I don’t know why I just made this connection now but the crave series reminds me a lot of the vampire diaries (talking about the show not the books haven’t read them yet idk how different they are) with the love triangle between two brothers and one of them is evil and the girl ends up with the “nicer” brother to then found out oh the other brother wasn’t evil he was just misunderstood and that she’s more compatible with that brother so she gets with him. Then the “nicer” brother gets with a person who was into him at the start of the series. Anyway sorry for my long comment, love your videos ❤️ your video notification made my day!
The first 2 books of crave are so fun. The author doesn’t take anything seriously and it’s really fun. The 3rd book is fine…the 4th book all of a sudden tries to be serious. Haven’t read the 5th one yet but I hope it is better than the 4th.
Also, I'd HIGHLY recommend that you read the companion novella to The Remnant Chronicles that's called 'Morrighan: The Beginnings of the Remnant Universe.' It's pretty short but packs a punch, and you'll end up falling in-love with all of the characters!! 💜 It's set in the prehistoric times before the Remnant Chronicles, and gives even more backstory to the fantasy element of the series. 🥰

For so long I have predicted that Legendborn is gonna be a win for me because I love King Arthur type stuff, but for some reason I haven’t bought it. You actually motivated me to buy it because I trust your opinions on YA fantasy lol 💗
Hi Cari, I wanted to ask you what books you would recommend to someone that has never gone to New York. It's just a city that intrigues me cause everyone seems to love it. Love your videos always ❤️
First of all Cari, LOVE that grey sweater you're wearing, it's soo cute!! 😍 Second of all, YESSS YOU FINALLY READ THE KISS OF DECEPTION SERIES AHHH!!! 😩 Been screaming at the top of my LUNGS for you to read this since, like, forever ago, and you don't know how happy it makes me feel to hear how much you loved one of my all-time favorite series ahhh!! 😭 I agree that the fantasy aspect of the books is on the lighter side of things and I kinda loved that about it, plus, the books had MAJOR cottage core vibes haha! 😂 Also, yess- The Beauty of Darkness was my favorite book out of the trilogy, and I cried when I read it too... it was just THAT good!!!! This series is seriously so underrated, it has an amazing plot, beautiful and complex characters, and a romance that is soo swoon-worthy and, hello- NOT UTTERLY TOXIC, and we love that for us!!!❤🫠
i wish i knew why mary e pearson isnt as hyped as so many other ya fantasy authors - that woman can WRITE. like she can make me cry like no other hahahhaa
@@caricanread Yess soo true!!! I mean, Dance of Thieves got the hype it deserved through tiktok, but even though this series is its predecessor, no one ever really talks about it, and that makes me so mad because she's an AMAZING writer!! 😭
Ooh that book looks so good! And also that edition is so pretty! I think I'm going to look it up for the holiday. Also it's nice hearing you taking about DNFing. I'm reading Death's End (by Liu Cixin) and I'm not enjoying it but it was such an expensive book and I enjoyed the 1st one and 2nd one so much that I can't seem to leave it
@@caricanread as long as the lemon trees grow! I feel is a heavy book so I need a relaxing headspace to read it. If I read it in the middle of uni I would stop functioning
I’m not sure if it is the same for your library books on your device, but I get books sent to my kindle from Libby and even if the library takes it back, if I don’t exit out of the book in my kindle, I can continue reading it indefinitely 😅 pro tip
unfortunately i use my ipad for a bunch of things so thats hard for me to do but hopefully next time i'll just get better at managing my holds hahahahha thank you!
Me patiently waiting for Cari to read One Dark Window 😌 While I'm waiting, I also recommend checking out Twin Crowns if you haven't read it yet. I'm glad I finally got around to it because it was so much fun! Seems like something you would like Cari 💕
Hi! I was wondering about a pink candle with a chinese character from a korean brand you mentioned in a video and i’m going like crazy searching for it! I love it so so much but I can’t remember the name of the brand😭
well now that you've read kiss of deception you should totally read the dance of thieves duology! i believe some of the characters from the remnant chronicles are in dance of thieves so i figured i'd let yk it existed just in case you didn't know 💗
@@caricanread haha whoops look at me giving you recommendations for books you've already read 🙃...i'm not quite there yet in the video but i'm excited to hear your thoughts
I'm just now reading Addie LaRue since it's on Kindle Unlimited. Before that I read the last book in the Camelot Rising trilogy by Kiersten White, The Excalibur Curse. Kiersten White is such a good author, I'm surprised I don't hear more people talking about her...but I'm also not that deep into booktok.
I'm currently struggling through Bloodmarked. It's not as enthralling as Legendborn was. I'm 350 pages in and it feels like there has only been 150 pgs worth of plot. Such a drag. Every time the plot progresses it somehow doubles back again. I refuse to DNF it. It's giving second-book-syndrom so there better be a 3rd book.
Hi. It's always fun seeing your wrap up. I am decorating the Christmas tree as you video plays in the background. You're like a friend hanging out with me. ❤❤🎄
Hey Cari, I love your plot recap videos and would love it if you'd read the Starbound Trilogy by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner. Thanks for giving us such wonderful content! ❤
Cari did you know that Lonely Castle in the Mirror will be an animated movie released in Japan in December 23? I’m going to see it and I’m so excited!! The animation looks so good I’m gonna cry just thinking about it😭 One of my favorite voice actors will be in the movie❤
@@caricanread i happened to watch a movie the other day and it was all over the advertisement😭😭 please watch it if they release in korea! I just checked the VAs and Kaji Yuuki (Eren Yeager VA) and Takayama Minami (Detective Conan VA) ARE GOING TO BE THERE OMG
Oof, I tried to read The Sin Eater last year and I got overwhelmed and had to put it down pretty early in. I thought the writing was good, but the protag goes through a lot of trauma very quickly at the beginning of the novel.
I just finished Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. I thought it was so beautiful and definitely one of the best books I read this year!
You should read under the udala trees by chanello oh paratha I am probably spelling that name very incorrectly. She is a Nigerian author, the book is about a young woman growing up in Nigeria during the Nigerian Civil War and while she's dealing with the death of her father and the war she's also trying to come to terms with her sexuality as a lesbian and trying to get acceptance from her mother but also trying to except who she is deep down inside from her self. It is a beautiful historical fiction book that tells the heartbreaking story of a young woman trying to fit in to Nigerian society as a lesbian and trying to game acceptance from her mother and herself.

I actually gave book eaters 5 stars! You gotta be in the right mindset for sure though, a little slow in the beginning
Yeah i feel like right when i stopped was when the action was going to start so im bummed but hopefully i will be able to finish it someday!
For so long I have predicted that Legendborn is gonna be a win for me because I love King Arthur type stuff, but for some reason I haven’t bought it. You actually motivated me to buy it because I trust your opinions on YA fantasy lol 💗
👏👏👏👏👏👏
I'm reading Death's End (by Liu Cixin) and I'm not enjoying it but it was such an expensive book and I enjoyed the 1st one and 2nd one so much that I can't seem to leave it
which one?!
@@caricanread as long as the lemon trees grow! I feel is a heavy book so I need a relaxing headspace to read it. If I read it in the middle of uni I would stop functioning
This is the highlight of my day. ❤️
Sin Eaters is such a fascinating concept.
It was a CORGI?! A corgi…oh that’s amazing. Not even like a hunting dog or like a bigger dog. A corgi. Perfection.
Me patiently waiting for Cari to read One Dark Window 😌
While I'm waiting, I also recommend checking out Twin Crowns if you haven't read it yet. I'm glad I finally got around to it because it was so much fun! Seems like something you would like Cari 💕
Its next on my list!!!! Promise!
@@caricanread Bless 🙌
But no i love your reading vlogs though! So cozy ❤️
Thank you 🥹
Hi! I was wondering about a pink candle with a chinese character from a korean brand you mentioned in a video and i’m going like crazy searching for it! I love it so so much but I can’t remember the name of the brand😭
its from the brand oimu!
well now that you've read kiss of deception you should totally read the dance of thieves duology! i believe some of the characters from the remnant chronicles are in dance of thieves so i figured i'd let yk it existed just in case you didn't know 💗
i have haha i talk about it in this video!
Kiersten White
is such a good author, I'm surprised I don't hear more people talking about her...but I'm also not that deep into booktok.
I found out that bones and all is a book too, though it’s slightly different
I'm currently struggling through Bloodmarked. It's not as enthralling as Legendborn was. I'm 350 pages in and it feels like there has only been 150 pgs worth of plot. Such a drag. Every time the plot progresses it somehow doubles back again. I refuse to DNF it. It's giving second-book-syndrom so there better be a 3rd book.
Love your sweater!! Where is it from?
Hi. It's always fun seeing your wrap up. I am decorating the Christmas tree as you video plays in the background. You're like a friend hanging out with me. ❤❤🎄
omg honored :')
I’d be so interested to see how you like The end of Mr. Y , can’t stop saying it
The Lonely Castle in the mirror is getting a film soon
Cari, please read Six Crimson Cranes duology! They were so gooooood
Cari! I can’t wait until you read - Saint by Adrienne Young! I read it and enjoyed it a lot more than the fable duology
I AM SO EXCITED
Noo, it's midnight for me I should just go to sleep, not watch 40 minutes long video about books
it will be here tomorrow!!
@@caricanread yeah, gonna watch it tomorrow so I can appreciate it properly ❤️ love your channel!
Random but where is that top from?? It looks so cozy
I second this!
Hey Cari, I love your plot recap videos and would love it if you'd read the Starbound Trilogy by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner. Thanks for giving us such wonderful content! ❤
ohhh i'll look it up!
@@caricanread Thank you! You're awesome! Happy Reading! ❤✨
Cari did you know that Lonely Castle in the Mirror will be an animated movie released in Japan in December 23? I’m going to see it and I’m so excited!! The animation looks so good I’m gonna cry just thinking about it😭 One of my favorite voice actors will be in the movie❤
Omg i am so excited!!!!!
I LOVED The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones, I'm sorry to hear you bounced off The Drowned Woods!
I really loved book eaters would highly recommend it!
Yey, this is the best season to be comfy at home and listening to you talk about the books from last month. 😊❄️
hehehe^^
Lonely castle in the mirror is GETTING a film Adaption!!!! ❤😊 I highly recommend you to check the trailer.. you may actually like it!
Omg YES!!! I will look this up asap!
thanks for an awesome video as always!!
thank youuuu!
omg i love your reading vlogs!!!
The Drowned Woods was SUCH a let down. I am so sad, especially after The Bone Houses was phenomenal!
Oof, I tried to read The Sin Eater last year and I got overwhelmed and had to put it down pretty early in. I thought the writing was good, but the protag goes through a lot of trauma very quickly at the beginning of the novel.
How do you decide what to read? Like you look for recs or do you choose by the cover and the synopsis ?
Thank you what ape. That is so sweet what is a comprehensive reading? I'm sure I would love that anyway it sounds really awesome thank you so much.
