Hi everyone! It's my favorite season - perfect for curling up with a good book. I realise that many of these books on this list are ones that I have recommended many, many times, but honestly, I just really love these with all my heart and for me, autumn is synonymous with nostalgia so I love a good re-read :) Hope you're all doing well as always and hope to be back with better content soon! Love always~

autumn book recommendations that get creepier as the video goes on...
hi guys :) i know that most of these are books i've recommended a hundred times before, so sorry if this is a little redundant, but for me autumn is about reading favorites - not necessarily new. I also forgot to add in Language of Thorns which is a collection of fairy tales by Leigh Bardugo that is just perfect for a cozy autumn read :') love you all always!
I did not know that as a spanish native speaker I needed to hear Cari saying: Brujas, Brujos and Dias de los muertos. I love you❤
I don't know if you've heard or read it but Here There Are Monsters by Amelinda Bérubé is a good Autumn spooky read I haven't finished it and its a little slow to start but it really drew me in
I always find myself wanting to turn to classics and fantasy and academia type books in the fall.. maybe it’s due to the fact that fall is often associated with going back to school, but something about getting cozy indoors as the days grow colder and curling up with a book always makes me in the mood for gothic era classics with their descriptive and analytical words ✨🍂🍃🍁
Thanks for the great video! I hope you have a lovely fall full of lots of good books!! 💜
Oh Cari, saving the creepiest book for last had me LOL!! My husband found The Silent Companions at a free library for me, and it scared the CRAP out of me!! DOLLS... nope!! Kinda reminded me of that videotape movie, The Ring! Just out to get you, Stephen King horror type feeling. The cover...laughably deceiving🤫. Currently reading The Graveyard Book but can't wait to try some of these others, thx so much 💖
I believe in an enchantment of ravens supremacy!!!
and our girl Margaret swooping in this month with a new book to save the season :')
An Enchantment of Ravens: Fairies can’t *make* anything. They can’t cook, they can’t create art, they can’t create music, they can just consume and enjoy
Me: am i… a fairy
😅😅😅😅😅😅
Lolol
Plot twist: You find out that you’re a changeling
And once again Cari contributes to making my tbr list extended past my life expectancy…. I don’t mind
the best problem to have :')
A problem i happily accept!
"Dead Boys, Curses, and Witches" sounds like it should be the subtitle of a thesis or dissertation on YA horror.
Such a random observation but I really admire and appreciate you for repeating the book titles after each synopsis!! It really saves me from constantly rewinding your videos. YAY 😊🙌🏽💚
Thank you!! Also in case i miss one, time stamps are always in the description 🥰🥰🥰
I did not know that as a spanish native speaker I needed to hear Cari saying: Brujas, Brujos and Dias de los muertos. I love you❤
hahaha de nada~
Inkheart is such a German children's modern classic, I have such fond memories of reading this in elementary school!
omggg my childhood-- i looveee inkheart!! her other book Reckless, was actually super creepy and good too
Ms Funke is the best 🥲
Just so you know. We love your listicle videos. We love listening to you talk about and describe books. Thank YOU for continuing to create content for us!
Thank you so much 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Just finished an enchantment of ravens, and it was amazing! (Also Sorcery of Thorns is one of my favorite books too)
YES!!!!!
an enchantment of ravens is the perfect short cosy lyrical autumnal book :') 🍂
It really is 🥺
I’m so glad the books I want to read in this video are already on my tbr. It saves me from extending my list like I normally do after watching your videos since I trust your recommendations more than most. Thank you for the cozy/spooky reads!
bahahah im glad!! and thank YOU!
You're a person that I don't get tired of watching and watching, I love you so much, current ♡
Honestly, one of the only channels where I just have to watch the video as soon as possible. Love your recommendation so much, however you make my tbr a never ending list.
I appreciate how you recommend books rather than just reading the synopsis 🥰🥰🥰
even though i live in the southern hemisphere i am 100% pretending its autumn again down here (thankfully its not that hot yet so i kinda get the vibes too lol) and i literally just read an enchantment of ravens and the bone houses i was saving since your recs from last year!!! it goes without saying, but i reaaaally enjoyed them hehe
wahhhh yessss!!!!
Such an awesome list! I really appreciated you including House of Hollow!!! I LOVED that book! I don’t usually hear people recommending it. Thanks for your video! I have some new books on my tbr list now. 🖤
Your videos are so atmospheric ✨
Awww! I loved Inkheart! It also shaped my love for fantasy 😍. I believe her characters are going to be with me forever! Like I don’t even think it’s healthy how much I loved Dustfinger!
Great video! Thanks for the recs!!
20 seconds in and I am in love already! Your videos are such comforts for me, thank you for uploading 💖
💖💖💖
Hearing you describe books is wonderful! :3
Love your recommendations! The Historian is one of my favorite books…seriously amazing!
Needed something to make me smile today. Can’t thank you enough Cari 💕
hope a lot more things make you smile tomorrow!!!
Cari at it again with extending my tbr list, which is great and stressful at the same time lol 🤣. I’ll never have the satisfaction of crossing everything off the list
cari’s sweater is such a vibe
I will be living in it all season hahha
omg i have the same experience with inkheart it was my favorite book for so long I am in love with that world she really also shped my mind and the way a see the world!!!! so happy to see someone talking about it
Love these recommendations!! You should do a video on book where its from the villain’s point of view!
i’ve been subscribed to you for like.. a year now and every time i watch your videos i’m like “god she reminds of someone but who” i just so happen to be rewatching the office and realized.. ITS PAM!! you remind me of pam like personality (from what i’ve seen in your videos) and looks 😭
lmfao i get this all the time on youtube and i dont see it but i wholly appreciate it hahaha literally never got told this in my LIFE until youtube hahahahha
As a Margaret Rogerson stan.... can't wait for you to also get into Katherine Arden. I've finished her winter WINTER bone chilling COLD series, now I have her middle grade horror series to read, this month... You really gotta read her works these two authors.. give me magic. They give me magic.
i love your videos, thank you for all the recs!
I had a reading slump after reading pride and prejudice. And books like the Spanish love deception, people we meet on vacation, Jane eyre, Wuthering heights, it ends with us are popular on bookstagram. And ngl I was sort of disappointed, I thought books of my taste doesn't much exist. Like the above mentioned books is just not my genre ... I'm sorry. But then you came, and ahh .. the books you recommend are just so good. I too am into those historical fiction, fantasy, witches, magics and stuff. You made reading more interesting. It's like .. if Cari loves this books, then I'm definitely gonna love it! Our taste is so similar
I just love how Cari totally convinced me that I need to read the binding by telling me nothing about it😂
😂😂😂😂
omg the way you said brujos y brujas was so cute, thanks for the recommendations cari
🤍🤍🤍
I read the Slade House and the Silent Companions after your recommendation and two of my favourites books. Especially the Silent Companions! It was written so well and was actually scary. Thanks for the amazing recommendations as always. 💖
i've been waiting for this for so long! also the atmosphere is so cool. lovely video cari :)
thank you so much!
@@caricanread no worries :)
Cari has such a great book channel.
thank you always!
i can’t even imagine trying to read spooky books or terror in general. Maybe a romance with spooky vibes i will but Stephen king vibes will not do
I love to hear your videos while im doing anything in my house tho, ly cari
Yess, An Enchantment of Ravens!! 😍 That's on my November tbr- I've been looking forward to reading it all year long! 🤍
omg yessss hope you enjoy!
@@caricanread Thanks, me too! 🥺💜
YES!!! This is definitely my fave book content!! I‘m all in for creepy reads at the moment…..already read a few that are on your list, but also added a few new ones🙈 My current tbr pile is not amused…hahaha!
😂💀😂💀
I subbed when I saw that cute intro. That mug was adorable
TGIF cos it’s Cari’s time! Just finished ‘Mexican Gothic’ and it was soooo good! Going to add ‘Slade House’, ‘The Historian’ and ‘The Silent Companions’ to my neverending TBR. :)
I've got my paper and pen, now I'm ready for the recommendations! Also, I was just craving something spooky to read so your list is just perfect😁
😍😍😍
Also when you realize that about three books are available in your country from the whole list lol.
Omg I wanted to read The Bone Houses for such a long time but couldn't remember the name of the book, just the plot 😭 I gasped when you started talking about it lol
So glad you brought up the Historian again. I read it after watching your covid books video and LOVED it, I recommend it to everyone now!! 😂 Thanks for recommending it Cari!
yesssss such a great read :') so glad you loved it!!
The historian is a book I’ve read a long time ago … I still remember her and her Papa having all those ‘ pain au chocolat’
for breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack ….. good book.
such a great atmosphere!
vespertine was SO good, my fav of the three and felt much creepier than the others i LOVED it!!!! i hope your library gets it to you soon i can't wait to hear what you think about it!!
gahhhh i cant wait!!!
Oh man, I already have a bunch of these sitting unread on my Kindle! Going to give a few a try, because I'm not ready to let go of autumn yet 😭
you talked about the year of the witching on your witchy book haul video and i read it recently ^_^ just wanna say i really enjoyed it! it has everything i look for in a witchy book :) now i’m looking forward to read the wicked deep! thanks for the great recommendations as always
ohhhh yes very culty woodsy witch vibes!!!
Cari!! I am LOVING this list! Also, aaaaaaaa, I started Witch Haven a couple of days ago, but am waiting for the weekend to finish it! An Enchantment of Ravens really is a book for autumn read, I'm kind of mad at myself that I've read it a couple of months ago. You are one of the rare people that recommends Inkheart, so many people don't even know about it (at least the people I've recommended it to), so that makes me really happy. I am currently reading Witch by Finbar Hawkins and I am digging it, so a small rec for that!
Inkheart is the best!! And ohhh I’ll look it up asap!
Reading An Enchantment of Ravens right now & loving it! Definitely has all the autumn vibes! 🍂🍁
Read it and it was amazing☺️
This is exactly the kind of video I need 🖤🖤
i think this is the earliest i've been to a cari video lol
hehehe welcome!!
cornelia funke is amazing! if your looking for a nice and cozy christmas read i can highly reccommend "Hinter verzauberten Fenstern" - i think in english it would be "behind enchanted windows" but I'm not sure if it was released in english :( but if it ever gets translated- its really cute, so definetley worth it!
I think nearly every book I’ve read growing up is either from Cornelia Funke or Michael Ende. You definitely inspired me to reread them. 🧡
I love your channel and Alexandra Roselyn. Both of you are one of my favorite channels.
🥰
Love your dog person mug !
me too :') got it at target a few years ago and its my fav ahahha
I finished a sorcery of thorns and I plan to start enchantment of ravens today!!
glad they sponsered you again because i rememeber watching one of your videos in passing during cleaning, and could not find the link again...
When one of you fav talks about another fav🤣❤. Lexy is a cotton ball of cuteness
Loved this video! I always watch with my kindle and go in a binge 😂 Silent Companions seems so promising!
hope it scratches the spooky itch!
Since i'm get scared easily, i would LOVE for you to make a video with spoilers of The Silent Companions! I love hearing a good horror story, but reading or watching it... i just can't lol. Maybe there are more people like me and would love to know about the story, which seems super interesting, trough you Cari :) Your soft voice would help i think lmao
SPOILERS FOR WICKED DEEP
i read the wicked deep thanks to you cari and i honestly really liked the plot twist??? it made me enjoy the book ten million times and i always go back to the last scenes (the drowning one and accusation flashback) because it was SO BEAUTIFUL IT LITERALLY MADE ME CRY
also, love you always 💙
Loved the mood of this video 🥰🍂
🥰🥰🥰
Ayy i luv your aesthetic as usual
Haha YES I am German so I practically grew up with Cornelia Funke's books and I LOVED The Thief Lord it's basically my entire childhood and when I started reading Six of Crows it immediately reminded me so much of The Thief Lord that I'm surprised I haven't seen Leigh Bardugo mentioning it as one of her inspirations^^ anyways for me Six of Crows is like The Thief Lord but for young adults and it moved me so much because It reminded me of something very significant to my childhood and I was so happy I got to experience another story like this as at a different point in my life ☺️ (also I read the thief lord at around 8/9 for the first time and now Six of Crows at 17/18 so I was always in similar age to the characters which really made me feel even more connected to these stories)
Read The Slade House a few years ago because you recommended it in a different video and I fell in love a few pages in. You're so right---he is able to write from different perspectives and time periods SO WELL. That was the first book I'd read in a long time where the writing itself was as much as a delight as the (hella creepy) plot. Cannot recommend enough!
if you like him jumping writing styles, i hiiiighly recommend cloud atlas!!
@@caricanread thanks! On my tbr!!
the way you just called me out for loving the thief lord and soc.... i have to take a moment to reevaluate my entire life
you brought up inkheart and i had flashbacks to childhood!! love it! 😂 and omg i had forgotten all about the historian such a good one. i def need to check out enchantment of ravens
taste!!!!
I wish we had Likewise in Denmark so I could support you❤️ GREAT RECOMMENDATIONS BTW!!!
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing, nice one, have a lovely day! 🥰
Ok, so when I received in the mail the book The Binding, I couldn't remember ordering it and even worse I couldn't remember why I ordered it. So I I had a ahaaa moment watching this. 🤣🤣Now I know, Cari told me to. Guess I better read it now. You are very persuasive and very good at describing plots. 👍📚🍁💕
bhahahahha!!!
I finished Vespertine. I can't wait for your review.
I CANT WAIT EITHER
Good morning Cari! Have a great weekend. Stay safe. 🌻
same to youuuu!
Omg loved house of hollows!
I’m currently reading Under the Whispering Door, it’s the same author as House in the Cerulean Sea! I wouldn’t say it’s creepy but it’s a wholesome afterlife story. Kind of reminds me of Beetlejuice but not creepy 😂
Yes!! I want to read it but ironically i have been working on a short story with the same premise for about a year so i want to finishing writing the story before i read it 😭😭😭
20 seconds in and i can tell this is gonna be a great video ♡
my favorite booktuber 🤞
I'm super late to this video but I'm just so happy that you mentioned Inkheart! The trilogy are my favourite books of all time ❤️🔥 Have you heard that there's a fourth book coming out this year? It's called The Color of Revenge. Love your videos! ☺️
I feel like we are in the same filter bubble 😂 sth will pop up on my timeline and then a few days later you post about finding this exact same thing too! Like alexandra, the binding, cemetery boys, lakes edge,...
Hey Cari! Loved the video! Great recommendations, some of them I haven't heard before! One small thing that I wanted to ask for future videos, could you leave the cover of the book on the screen for the whole time you are talking about it? Sometimes I miss it and I have to go back in the video to see what book you are talking about! Thank you some much! 💖
My description box always has all the titles with time stamps! Its actually hard to edit the title for the entire time because i use effects like zoom, etc. pls use my description box instead 😭🙏
omgosh i have a recommendation for you!!
if you haven’t read the secret history by donna tart that would be a sick book for fall-winter. it’s good to go in a little blind but it’s the main character recounting his year in college where he joins an elite society, murder, morally grey, evil, rituals. you will either love or hate these characters or both. anyone who is reading this though look at the TW before purchase it’s very dark.
I just read this. It,s a great book. I really loved it.
OMG SO EXCITED TO READ THESE. one request I have is to keep the display of the book through out explaining it cause I decide to read it while youre explaining it and then take the SS of it so I think it would be more convenient not to keep going back to take the SS. Anyway just a suggestion hehe love ur vids ❤️
Hi! Thanks for the suggestion but I always have the time stamps in the description. From an editing standpoint, its actually hard to have the title displayed the whole time if i want to have other effects like zooming in, etc. i put a lot of work into editing and adding subtitles so please just use the description box 😭🙏
@@caricanread ofcc suree I only meant to say this if it was possible!! I'll just refer to the timestamps no problemo
Hi Cari! I read Haunting of Hill House a couple Halloweens ago. I figured a few days ago her We Have Always Lived in the Castle. It's different, but also has that 'is something strange going on here' atmosphere.
i have that on my long list too hahah
loved this!! 💞🥰
🤍🤍🤍
I just finished reading both The Witch Haven and The Haunting of Hill House!
Lakesedge reminds me of Sorcery of Thorns, especially the interaction between the main characters. It is the first book of a duology/series though.
Vespertine was so good! Highly recommend
I CANT WAIT!
Thanks for the southern hemisphere shout out, i felt seen :) hope all my fellow southern hemisphere people are having a wonderful spring, take care bc of allergies
I've got The Silent Companions because of your recommendation. I'll read it soon, this month or the next. Have you read any other Laura Purcell? She's got a few more books
SHE HAS BEEN GIVING!!!
😭🙏😭🙏
@@caricanread hi hi please do a fantasy romance rec video
CARI I READ THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS AND I LOVED IT. I'm doubting in wether apply to a Ph.D or not and this book made me realize the most important question (that is made in the prologue) and wow I love romcoms. I love your content! I miss the reading/cooking/writing vlogs
WAHHH YESSSSSS (and i have a baking vlog coming up on my main channel hehe)
@@caricanread yaaaaas 💕💕💕
Absolutely love this video
thank youuu!
CARI WE HAVE SIMILAR TASTE!!!! SHEA ERNSHAW IS ALSO AAMZING. She has a new adult magical realism coming out in decemberrrrrr
WHAT i need to investigate this 👀
hi! i recently got the reading fever and just started reading a lot of books, just discovered your channel as well, what is your opinion on the bronte sisters?
Not enough people talk about Slade House. It's a great spooky book 🖤
Cari, I have an October book rec for you! I recently read Bad Witch Burning by Jessica Lewis, and it was really good! A bit on the creepy side, but also really action-packed and quick to read, about a girl who brings people back to life...except they're more like zombies. (It just came out in August, so might be kinda hard to get from the library, though.) Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger would also make a great October read! YA with more MG vibes, about a girl who communicates with ghosts to solve a murder.
😱😱😱 i will look this up hahahha
I remember reading a particular chapter (passage?) in The Haunting of Hill House and it scaring the bejeesus out of me. Some time later, a local theatre put on a staged version and, having forgotten that particular part, I almost shot out of my seat and hit the ceiling when they acted it out on stage. 😂 Good times.
Lovely video ❤ I've already ordered 3 of those books... and also, while I was at it, I saw a sequel for Naomi Novik's "Deadly Education" was just released. That also meets the fall/October brief, doesn't it? Ordered that one, too 😄 . And I love when other youtubers comment on each other's videos ❤ like Cindy @withcindy or Jack Edwards @Jack Edwards, for example ❤ makes me so happy ^^
