hi guys :) i know that most of these are books i've recommended a hundred times before, so sorry if this is a little redundant, but for me autumn is about reading favorites - not necessarily new. I also forgot to add in Language of Thorns which is a collection of fairy tales by Leigh Bardugo that is just perfect for a cozy autumn read :') love you all always!

I always find myself wanting to turn to classics and fantasy and academia type books in the fall.. maybe it’s due to the fact that fall is often associated with going back to school, but something about getting cozy indoors as the days grow colder and curling up with a book always makes me in the mood for gothic era classics with their descriptive and analytical words ✨🍂🍃🍁
Thanks for the great video! I hope you have a lovely fall full of lots of good books!! 💜

Oh Cari, saving the creepiest book for last had me LOL!! My husband found The Silent Companions at a free library for me, and it scared the CRAP out of me!! DOLLS... nope!! Kinda reminded me of that videotape movie, The Ring! Just out to get you, Stephen King horror type feeling. The cover...laughably deceiving🤫. Currently reading The Graveyard Book but can't wait to try some of these others, thx so much 💖

Haha YES I am German so I practically grew up with Cornelia Funke's books and I LOVED The Thief Lord it's basically my entire childhood and when I started reading Six of Crows it immediately reminded me so much of The Thief Lord that I'm surprised I haven't seen Leigh Bardugo mentioning it as one of her inspirations^^ anyways for me Six of Crows is like The Thief Lord but for young adults and it moved me so much because It reminded me of something very significant to my childhood and I was so happy I got to experience another story like this as at a different point in my life ☺️ (also I read the thief lord at around 8/9 for the first time and now Six of Crows at 17/18 so I was always in similar age to the characters which really made me feel even more connected to these stories)

And books like the Spanish love deception, people we meet on vacation, Jane eyre, Wuthering heights, it ends with us are popular on bookstagram. And ngl I was sort of disappointed, I thought books of my taste doesn't much exist. Like the above mentioned books is just not my genre ... I'm sorry. But then you came, and ahh .. the books you recommend are just so good. I too am into those historical fiction, fantasy, witches, magics and stuff. You made reading more interesting. if you haven’t read the secret history by donna tart that would be a sick book for fall-winter. it’s good to go in a little blind but it’s the main character recounting his year in college where he joins an elite society, murder, morally grey, evil, rituals. you will either love or hate these characters or both. anyone who is reading this though look at the TW before purchase it’s very dark.

Lakesedge reminds me of Sorcery of Thorns, especially the interaction between the main characters. It is the first book of a duology/series though.

Cari, I have an October book rec for you! I recently read Bad Witch Burning by Jessica Lewis, and it was really good! A bit on the creepy side, but also really action-packed and quick to read, about a girl who brings people back to life...except they're more like zombies. (It just came out in August, so might be kinda hard to get from the library, though.) Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger would also make a great October read! YA with more MG vibes, about a girl who communicates with ghosts to solve a murder.

I read The Wicked Deep a while ago and while it's not necessarily a favorite read of mine, it had SUCH A GREAT TWIST that I just keep thinking back on a lot from a storytelling perspective and stilistic device choice??

Pan's Labyrinth by Guillermo del Torro and Cornelia Funke is one of my most favorite books. The movie is great too, but I read the book first and I personally prefer it because I adore Cornelia's simplistic yet lyrical writing. Will definitely check out her other books now, especially Inkheart since Queen Cari said so and my soul is obligated to abide by her majesty's book recommendations because I feel like we have the same taste in books. I also just worship Six of Crows, I have a love-hate relationship with The Shadows Between Us, and of course, I stand by the banner of Margaret Rogerson supremacy!
Also, I am just devastated that Joan He has no plans to make a sequel for Descendant of the Crane, but I also mostly think that the characters have mostly already developed so I would also just be happy to get a book set in the same universe like she said she might do in the future. What do you think about that? Do you also think that the characters' arcs are pretty much done or would you like to see some more of them?
Also, (this will be the last also, I promise hahaha) I highly recommend Isabel Yap's Never Have I Ever for another book with an eerie and creepy atmosphere. It's an anthology book filled with short stories that range from all sorts of genres. My favorite ones are Good Girls, A Spell for Foolish Hearts, and Misty.
