I’ve read the trilogy of Discovery of Witches. Absolutely a favorite!! Each book got better and better!! Loved everything about it!! I agree I enjoyed The Night Circus but it was just a bit slow. And The Graveyard Book, AMAZING! I would recommend Mina: The Dracula Story Continues by Elaine Bergstrom. I read it years ago, and loved it. I’m new to your channel and absolutely love your content! Perfection!
all books mentioned: - practical magic series by alice hoffman. - nancy drew books by carolyn keene. - curse of the day by annabel chase. - garlic & the vampire by bree paulson. - legends and lattes by travis baldree. - a discovery of witches by deborah harkness. - the october country by ray bradbury. - from the dust returned by ray bradbury. - the very secret society of irregular witches by sangu madanna. - fangs by sandra anderson. - the dark descent of elizabeth frankenstein by kiersten white. - the adventures of sherlock holmes by sir arthur conan doyle. - as chimney sweepers come to dust by alan bradley. - dracul by j.d. barker & dacre stoker. - the distant hours by kate morton. - the graveyard book by neil gaiman. drop any another recs below!!
I recommend any Nora Roberts book - specifically I think it’s called the ‘Dancing on Air’ trilogy. I’ve only read part of the first one but it was very good so far - very cosy
Hi Darling Desi. I know for a fact that your aesthetics are unique. It’s cool to see your background looking like something out of a vintage bookstore. I hope you continue to do well with making content. Best of luck.
couldnt agree more, your videos are the best part of my days, i have recently been going through a bad time in my life but your videos make me feel so calm and happy
I would loveeee to hear your book recommendations for those of us who like to embrace the autumn season itself, but aren’t into anything scary or Halloween related. Just all the coziness, nature, and the comfort of fall. ☕️🍂🍁
I can really listen to you for days talk about book that you love, that want to read and re-read. You inspire me to read and have that craving to immers my self into new stories aswell🤎🤎🤍🤍🧡🧡💛💛
I love your videos so much! Started binge-watching them yesterday and already decorated far autumn, made a movie list, bucket list etc…just amazing vibes :) 🍂❤️
I recommended this under your last video aswell but I'm gonna recommend it again in case anyone's interested: Prose and Cons by Amanda Flower is a really lovely cozy murder mystery set in autumn, with a magical tree in a bookshop, a cat, a crow and a bookclub hosting an Edgar Allan Poe reading. it's really lovely! edit: someone just pointed out to me that it's actually part of a series (and the 2nd one at that) which I had no idea cause it reads like a standalone but I guess it's probably best to start at Crime and Poetry. (which I'm gonna read as soon as I can get my hands on it)
Thank you for sharing! I wanted to mention that A discovery of witches was made into a small series on Sundance now. They did a wonderful job of matching the feeling and story to the books. The actors are all amazing and it’s a great fall watch!!
Hello Desi, I was so happy when I saw you posted a new video! September is a lovely time but at the same time, school starts and as a new teacher, it makes me anxious. That's why i love your videos, they calm me down and remind me, that there are so many things to appreciate during this wonderful season!🍂
So many of these went straight into my Amazon cart- thanks for the recommendations! I would so love to do another Gilmore Girls readathon this fall! 🍁🍂📚☕️
Hey Desi! Today’s my first day of school and I’m super excited to watch this when I get home! I’m currently reading a few autumnal books! I’m reading Cackle, Anatomy: A Love Story, and Small Favors! They’re all so good!!! I cant wait to read your other book recommendations! Also, your background is so cool! Someday I hope I can decorate like that! Thanks for all your hard work Desi!! 🍂🧡
I think it’s very sweet of you to intentionally include different types of books for readers with different tastes 🥰 like you mentioned with the Nancy drew series, some people have mixed feelings about books involving witches, so it’s kind of you to consider those viewers!! ♥️
Sorry to hear that you’ve had a rough year. As a more seasoned human(lol) I will say that my biggest growing was through those challenging parts of my life. I came out the other side stronger, more patient, appreciative, gracious, and much happier. Life has a way of pacing us, and putting things in perspective. We will all be okay, we just need to take it one day, one breath at a time. ❤️
Your videos are so cozy and calming! I absolutely love them. I'd recommend adding The Name of the Wind to your list. Even though it isn't fully set in autumn, it has a cozy vibe with great writing and an interesting magical world.
Hi Desi! I am once again recommending the Lockwood & co books because they are so perfect for fall and I'm hoping that at least one person sees this comment and takes me up on this. Middle grade, set in London, with a group of young teenagers who run a company called Lockwood and Co that takes care of ghosts and supernatural phenomena that are plaguing the citizens of London. The first book (The Screaming Staircase) is set in fall, and it's soo spooky but also cosy, with descriptions of all the food they eat between cases, and the fun tumble-down house where they live. I think it's super underrated and I want to see more people read it!
I love this series so much!! I've read the whole thing several times now, and I'm going to reread again this fall! I won't say who my fav character is, so as to avoid spoilers, but it's the unique one that doesn't really show up until book 3 or so. LOL! Ok might have to start my reread today... :D
Frankenstein is such a great choice! I know you can get a lot done with audiobooks, but sometimes I tune out and miss a lot. Personally, I like hearing the characters develop a voice as I read. The words disappear and it's like I'm there watching it all unfold.
When you tell us we are your friends at the end... I know you mean it. Thank you for helping us all make every season special ❤️ excited to spend fall together again 🍁
I was so happy to see that you've got a new video for this week too! I've started re-watching all your autumnal videos, I enjoy them so much, both content-wise and because of the aesthetics! It really comes through that you put your heart into it.
I moved to a tropical island and I am living through your videos every season ! I miss the 4 season weather but your videos always make me feel so much better, they are so comforting ! Thank you for your work and all the books recommendations, I will try to read some to feel the autumn vibe !
Desi! Oh my gosh, I absolutely loved enjoying this over my morning coffee. 🧡 I've added quite a few titles to my TBR! My go-to fall reads would be 1) The Hobbit (oh so cozy!) 2) Legends & Lattes (absolutely adored it too!) 3) Sleeping Murder (my personal favorite Agatha Christie- it's more spookier!) 4) The Undertaking of Hart & Mercy (a cute adult romance with pen pal letters and zombies) 5) Sweet & Bitter Magic (a YA about a witch who can't feel love herself so she steals love from others) ❤ Have a lovely reading season!!
I’m reading Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson currently, and it’s such a gripping, yet cozy fantasy. Someone described it as the Hogwarts library meets Howl’s Moving Castle vibes and I think that is perfect. Really perfect for early fall, in my opinion.
I started my new job this week and have been so stressed and anxious. I'm beginning to feel better today and I'm convinced it's because of September and autumn on the horizon. your videos bring me so much comfort and I get so excited to watch them on my lunch break. 💕
Just began binge watching all of your autumnal videos, your editing and attention to detail is certainly a gift!!!Your videos create the most beautiful, positive world, reminding me to appreciate all of the small little wonders of being alive and that beauty is a mindset. Thank you for inspiring me!
I love Kate Morton!! I am currently reading The Distant Hours and thoroughly enjoying it. I've read several of her books and each one is so atmospheric and really brings you into the story. ❤️
“This time of year, he thought, the hills would be beautiful. It had been late summer when he’d left for the Coonskin system and the hills still had worn their mantle of dark green, but now, in the middle of October, they would have burst into the full color of their autumn dress. There’d be the winy red of oak and the brilliant red and yellow of the maples and here and there the flaming scarlet of creeping vines would run like a thread through all the other colors. And the air would smell like cider, that strange, intoxicating scent that came upon the woods only with the dying of the leaves”(Clifford D. Simak’s Goblin Reservation).I guess this writer loved autumn too! All his books I’ve read take place in autumn. You can almost smell that scent from book’s pages…
Such a great way to wake up and start September. It has reignited my excitement for autumn even more and some great recommendations for TBR this season. Thank you Desi! I hope you are healing well; long COVID is no joke! All the love in the world🍂🧡
I loved this video so much. I didn't even notice the more casual editing style... It always feels like you're chatting with us as friends! Such a cozy and fun video to watch
I LOVE Discovery of Witches!!! Totally agree, it kind of just steals into your life and makes you obsessed! If you loved it, you may love Nora Roberts' trilogy beginning with DANCE UPON THE AIR--it's about a New England place called Three Sister's Island and the main character Nell runs away there taking as a job at the local bookstore's cafe (SO many delicious baking descriptions) and discovers that she's a witch and so are two other women on the island. She's taught by one of the witches to hone her magic and may fall in love with the local sheriff(!) and confront her past. It's just SUCH an addictive book and I loved it so wanted to recommend! Nora has a fantastic writing style and if you haven't read her books I highly recommend this one to start. It's romantic, cozy, but also has slight thrillery element but with a happy-ever-after as promised in all Nora books! Also great to start for autumn!
Hi Desi! I started watching you last week and honestly you have me so excited for fall, and I haven’t felt this way in years. I’ve already ordered some fall candles and I’m so excited to read some of these books :)
Hello Kristen! I’m so happy you have been enjoying my videos 🥰🧡🫶🏻 Thank you so much for watching! Honestly my goal for this channel is to provide a warm and cozy place and try to encourage romanticizing life so that with each season, there are things to be excited about 🥰🧡
Woke up at 2am not feeling very well and was delighted to see that Desi had just posted. Thank you, Desi for hanging out with me while I wasn't feeling well. It helped so much.
My favorite author is Louise Penny . I don’t know if you have read her but her characters in books are like friends to me … the first book in her series is “still life” and is a perfect autumn read … these are murder mysteries but with so much more … highly recommend ❤️
Such a sweet and positive soul, you're honestly like if Autumn was a person 🤗 Thank you for all the work you put in, it's clear you put a lot of effort into all the little details - from the fire in the background to the autumnal mug, you have such a gift for creative a cozy, wholesome atmosphere 💛
This was the best early birthday present I could get 🥰 (my bday is tomorrow). I can't wait to spoil myself watching this 🍂🧡 thank you bringing all the autumn vibes Desi! You are truly the goddess of this season ✨️
Im so happy that you are feeling better! As a person with a lot of health problems, I could really relate to your long covid illness. I hope the autumn will be amazing for you, and bring you healing and closure.
Recently discovered your channel and so glad I did! You get me enthused about enjoying life and creating everyday magic moments. Hope things are improving rapidly for you!
Darling desi, you’re literally my favorite person on earth! You’re so full of energy and sunshine, and every season you make me feel so much better about life, thank you!
Perfect timing! I’m finishing up The Story Sisters by Alice Hoffman (it will rip your heart out) and I’m in the mood for some spooky and cozy books! Can’t wait to break the bank🥲
I save your videos for mornings or evenings that I can fully immerse myself in them with no distractions (they're so lovely and comfort my heart). I just got to watch this one and the month is almost gone. I sincerely hope September has been as cathartic as you needed it to be and I hope October is even better!
I must say I absolutely adore you!🎃🔥 Your videos bring peace to my soul. Autumn wouldn't be the same without your videos.🥮☕ Thank you for your content. Have a beautiful day. 🍂
Oh my gosh! Watching your videos brings me so much peace. A friend of mine recommended A Discovery of Witches years ago and it is definitely a yearly favorite. I start reading it every September. Currently I'm reading In The Company of Witches. It has all the lovely autumnal feels!
I just finished reading A Discovery of Witches, and I was SPEECHLESS. It's been years since I liked a book so much I couldn't get my hands off of it. Even at work, the only thing I could think of was the moment when I would be going home to read it. I'm now on a crusade to purchase the rest of the trilogy because I NEED TO KNOW HOW THINGS GO. I am properly addicted to this trilogy 😂
Ok so apparently I now always cry at the end of your videos because you make me feel seen and appreciated. It's been a hard year for me too after my Dad died last September. I've always loved the fall, but now it has a bittersweet feeling because it reminds me of our last times together. In addition his birthday was also in September. I am so grateful for your content that helps me keep liking the fall season. This really felt like chatting with a friend by a fireplace. Love you too. ❤ (And I will never not recommend Tove Jansson to you, especially Moominvalley in November for fall.)
I was so happy to see a new video! I'll be honest, I had an anxiety attack yesterday. It's a stressfully important time for me as I am starting my senior year in high school and applying to college. I expected another stressful day of preparing my application but your videos never cease to make me happy and to slow down and enjoy the little things even in stressful times. Keep being you! 🍂🧡
I feel the same about the coming Fall, Desi. Going to feel so refreshing! I just finished Stardust by Neil Gaiman and it was PHENOMENAL. Pure fairytale magic, and soo immersive...can't recommend highly enough!
I read Discovery of Witches last year because of you and I immediately went and bought the other three books after I finished the first because that’s how obsessed I became with it almost immediately. It’s a gorgeous story that hits all the right notes and I am planning on rereading it this month and watching the series.
YES I love your book recommendations and I love fall so it's just a perfect video 😃I added so many to my TBR, thank you for such great books you showed. I am so excited for all of your fall content
You made my day. Just love your content. I used to work with authors years ago editing, and promoting. I’m retired. Love seeing young people so excited about reading. Have a blessed day!
Dear Desi, let me just say that you are the most wholesome and inspiring person that I know✨ Your wonderful attitude, your bright and uplifting character and your shining soul always make me the happiest when I watch your videos🤍 Every single time you manage to put a smile on my face and therefore you make my day🥰 So I wanted to say thank you, Desi! Thank you for inspiring and motivating me. Thank you for letting my love for every single season grow more and more every time. Thank you for showing me how to romanticize my life and letting myself be the protagonist of it. And, most importantly, thank you for being yourself Desi💗
No one can come close to the visual brilliance of your videos, Desi! Autumn is when my heart and soul are in a state of total JOY. I love your videos. I LOVE your book suggestions as well. Can't miss ANY of your posts, especially during the glorious Fall Season! 🍁🍂🥧🦇❤️
Just to share my favorite books: 1 The Starless Sea 2 The Highland Witch!!! 3 Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts 4 The House of Salt and Sorrow 5 The Lost Causes of Bleak Creek; The only book that got me to read! (I hated reading. Never did it till I bought this book at 28 and now can't stop reading!! Thank you Rhett and Link!!
I have binged (almost) all of your videos recently. Your aesthetic and vibe gives me comfort and a sense of calm…which I’m longing for as I get older. So, thank you. Absolutely adore watching your videos. ❤️ - also, just requested “Dracul” from my library. Excited to read!
I agree with you. It was a rough year so far. This summer was probably the worst summer ever for me. I’m looking forward to fall so much! Thank you for the book recommendations 😊
Oh my gosh the aesthetic of this video! The dark cozy vibes are such a mood! I’ve been waiting on your fall content because it’s my FAVORITE this time of year! 🍂✨
Omg yes! Discovery of witches 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 I too am absolutely in love with the atmosphere, the romance, the friendships, the bigger life themes in this bookseries. Just stunning stunning stunning. The tvshow did the books justice! Love it just as much 😘😘😘😘😘😘 and thank you again Desi for the cozy autumn vibes you provides us with through your videos 🤗
I woke up with this video and my coffee this morning. The most cozy and gentle way to wake up. Thank you for your amazing content and PERFECT aesthetic 🍂🤎
I'm new to this community and I'm also one to rarely comment under videos, but I don't remember when I last enjoyed book recommendations that much. I never thought cozy mystery could be for me but you made me want to dive into every single one. Thank you for being such an engaging and thoughtful creator.
Oh my gosh this was just what I needed - I'm wrapped in a blanket with a little bit of light rain falling outside, my cosy lamp is on, and this video just made me feel peaceful :)
Hi Desi, today is the 2nd day of Spring for us here in Australia but it still feels very much like Winter and if I could I would live all year round in Autumn/fall because it is the best time of year. I've noted down 5 of your recommendations and I can't wait to find them and start reading. Thank you Desi, you and your room are looking wonderful as always love your jumper too!
I love your videos, they always inspire me to do better in my life, where I live it's the start of spring, but still chilly, the clothes, books ,films, food, sometimes vintage/ fantasy look really appeals to me, Good work!!!
Discovery of witches is on my next tbr but I haven't gotten through it because of a reading slump. Now that you mentioned it again I'll be reading it, your book recs always motivate me
I loved the cozy vibes of this video. It truly felt like a book club meeting in a friend's living room. I have some autumnal book recs as well: 1. Sheets by Brenna Thummler: It's a graphic novel about a teenage girl whose parents own a struggling laundry mat, when one day the ghost of a little boy shows up there. Despite dealing with death and loneliness it's a super wholesome book with a strong current of unique friendship that I love. Also the art is really pretty. It doesn't exclusively take place in autumn but I feel like the topic of ghosts makes it perfect for spooky season. 2. The Secret History by Dona Tartt: I know it's highly recommended but I think it lives up to the hype. Heavy academia vibes if you're into that. Tartt's language is so descriptive yet lyrical and it makes for a truly immersive experience. 3. Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by Caitlin Doughty: Also known as Ask a Mortician here on youtube. I've been a long time subscriber of Caitlin and felt so lucky when I managed to snag a copy of this at my local library. The book details Caitlin's first year working for a crematory and is full of information and anecdote that makes you really think about the commercial funeral industry, death positivity, your own perceptions surrounding death and what you want for yourself when your time comes. It sounds a bit morbid I know but it actually helped ease my fear of dying greatly and I think autumn is the perfect time to contemplate your own mortality personally lol. warning though, it can be a bit graphic with descriptions of decomposing bodies, preparing bodies for viewings, etc. Thanks for another great video Desi, and for adding more books to my already miles long notes app list of books to check out haha.
I love when people talk about the practical magic series, my grandma and I loved and read that entire series, she introduced it to me and we would share and trade the books back and forth. Alice Hoffman has a lot of other cozy books. This year I'm going to try and read the Blackbird House by her, it looks very short and magical. I also picked up Wicked Deep to read as well, witchy books are my favorites. I'm currently reading Small Favors, the book that's inspired by the Village, I think you had recommended it a few years back but I found it at my local library and grabbed it immediately. I'm also looking forward to reading my vintage additions of Nancy Drew and Judy Bolton mysteries. I got them from antique shops around the east coast and I love the old dust shields and the detailed illusions on the inside covers. I want to drive back into Harry Potter, and definitely try an Agatha Christie novel, or some other murder/true crime books. I just picked up The Book of Cold Cases, by Simone St James (I absolutely loved her previous book, The Sun Down Motel, I swore I could feel the rain and hear the hum of the neon signs with her descriptions) I'm so glad that other people talk about Goosebumps series, because I don't know why, it was embarrassing to me at first that I wanted to reread those, but now I'm like so what? I want to pretend I'm like 12 again. I'm constantly picking up new books from bookstores, thrift stores, the library or the free book nooks in my town, its comforting to know that new experiences and knowledge are just pages away at all times. Happy Autumn Reading Everyone!!!!
I just wanna say that you make my inner child feel safe to come out and play and I am very grateful for that because it has been a hard thing for me to do, love you desi 🍂💛
Also have to say that watching your videos have become my go to anxiety relief thing I do... so thank you for creating this cozy and safe space for your viewers 💕
Just woke up and saw my notifications that you uploaded another video! I’m surprised because it’s so early here in the States but I’m sure your followers in later time zones such as in Europe and other areas are thrilled. Either way, your videos on book recommendations are always fun and informative. And you always make us feel so warm and cozy inside while we watch. Looking forward to watching more of this when I wake up more and get breakfast. ☺️
THIS RADIATES WARMTH AND COZINESS 💛✨💛 Desi you’re my comfort RUclipsr ! I cannot explain how excited I am for your videos this autumn season. Wishing you love and safety!

Best compliment ever 😭😭😭😭
@@DarlingDesi omg you totally deserve it, you are the queen 👸
I recommended this under your last video aswell but I'm gonna recommend it again in case anyone's interested: Prose and Cons by Amanda Flower is a really lovely cozy murder mystery set in autumn, with a magical tree in a bookshop, a cat, a crow and a bookclub hosting an Edgar Allan Poe reading. it's really lovely!

I would pay to be able to read that again for the first time! It was so good
@@kristyhenson473 same! but I feel like it's also still great as a re-read, even though the mystery is kind of gone, the atmosphere is still there🌺🌻🍁
@@m8nswell very true
I will try it out ! Thank you for the recommendation 🪐
I already love the title.
The Graveyard Book is one of my Al time favorites! The audiobook with the full cast is pretty incredible!

My go-to fall reads would be 1) The Hobbit (oh so cozy!) 2) Legends & Lattes (absolutely adored it too!) 3) Sleeping Murder (my personal favorite Agatha Christie- it's more spookier!) 4) The Undertaking of Hart & Mercy (a cute adult romance with pen pal letters and zombies) 5) Sweet & Bitter Magic (a YA about a witch who can't feel love herself so she steals love from others) ❤ Have a lovely reading season!!
i’m loving the short reddish hair !! it’s so autumnal !! been rewatching all of your fall videos! i’m so ready for spooky season 🎃
I love love love Sorcery of Thorns! 😍 And I think that’s such a spot-on way to describe it 😍
I started my new job this week and have been so stressed and anxious. I'm beginning to feel better today and I'm convinced it's because of September and autumn on the horizon. your videos bring me so much comfort and I get so excited to watch them on my lunch break. 💕
Ahhh I'm so excited for your new video!!! You're an amazing creator, never give up!
Thank you so incredibly much, friend 🥹🧡
Your videos are so aesthetically pleasing and bring me so much comfort watching them as we closer and closer to fall!!
Legends & Lattes is one of my absolute favorite cozy reads. Everything about it is perfect ♥️♥️
Such a sweet, cozy video. I hope your Autumn is extra magical, full of love, fun, spooky silliness and most of all, good health. Big love to you!
Aww yay i’m so happy you’re enjoying the videos! 🥰 And thank you so so much 🧡
Darling desi, you’re literally my favorite person on earth!
You are such a beauty. I enjoy hearing your thoughts abouts your recommendations. Thank you Darling Desi
(And I will never not recommend Tove Jansson to you, especially Moominvalley in November for fall.)
Dracul I’m reading right now!! It’s amazing!!! Thanks for getting me back into the reading game!!!
Oh I hope you end up loving it! Things get so crazy in the end 🤯
@@DarlingDesi It was amazing!!!
I enjoyed the flow and naturalness of this editing style 🍂
Love your videos so much! I live for Fall and I love reading your book selections. ❤️🍁🍂🍁🍂❤️
I’m so happy you enjoy my videos! That makes my heart so happy 🥹🧡🧡
Immediately putting holds with my library on so many Autumn books from this video 📚🍂 Thanks!!

Thank you friend 🥹🧡
hii desi! i just wanted to say i love your channel so much! it’s really my comfort place💗
I’m currently rereading “Guernsey and the potato peal pie society”. It’s a really good slow cozy read - not much to do with Autumn though
Every time the season changes I flock back to your channel! 🥰
I LOVE the less edited version when you're just talking to us!
I love your shorter hair and style along with your sweater. The whole look looks so flawless and cozy.
Just to share my favorite books:
1 The Starless Sea
2 The Highland Witch!!!
3 Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts
4 The House of Salt and Sorrow
5 The Lost Causes of Bleak Creek; The only book that got me to read! (I hated reading. Never did it till I bought this book at 28 and now can't stop reading!! Thank you Rhett and Link!!
A Discovery of Witches is my absolute favorite series! I'm glad you love too!
P.S. your hair looks adorable. 😘
I love your book recs videos, you put so much love to them and that's noticeable. Great work!
Jekyll and Hyde. It's a classic for a reason. Love the book, the musical, the veggie tales spoof. Everything :p
Desi, the aesthetics of this video is just beyond perfection! Thank you for the amazing recommendations. Happy autumn! 🍁🍂
Your autumnal content gives me life, these are the videos I always look forward to the most. Thank you so much for creating your magic!🍂🧡
I have some autumnal book recs as well:
I just picked up The Book of Cold Cases, by Simone St James (I absolutely loved her previous book, The Sun Down Motel, I swore I could feel the rain and hear the hum of the neon signs with her descriptions)
I'm so glad that other people talk about Goosebumps series, because I don't know why, it was embarrassing to me at first that I wanted to reread those, but now I'm like so what?
I love all your book selections especially the Practical Magic series and Nancy Drew series. The Nancy Drew’s bring me back to my childhood.
I discovered you a few weeks ago and I have fallen in love with your channel. Your videos always make me so happy.
Magic lessons was such a powerful book. I’ve never actually had a book bring me to tears until I read it, let alone MULTIPLE time. It’s just SO GOOD
Your the first booktuber to recommend Flavia books. I've read every single one! She's the best ❤️
I really like your honest reviews of the books that you’ve read, unlike some RUclipsrs who only review it by the synopsis on the back. Thank you!
