Thank you so much for being here sweet friends! What has been your favorite part about this winter so far? Have you picked up a new hobby or discovered a new favorite tea or have you experienced any snow days? I'd love to hear!! P.S. Did anyone stick around until the bloopers at the very end of the video? 😉
My favorite part this winter was snow❄️!!! So grateful to have some this January ( we rarely have it🥲) , my anniversary month! I was working those days and I left heart sign in the snow all the way to work drawing them with my foot and people looking weird at me 😆. I actually started a new book this month , one that was waiting on my tbr and I’m loving it and think you will too, it’s “an enchantment of ravens” by Margaret Rogerson ( recommend her other book “ Sorcery of thorn “ too it’s about books and magic! Perfect combo!) I ordered the same dress from linenaive ! I can’t wait to receive it ( it sure taking it’s sweet time to come to me 😅). Your little green bonnet is adorable! Did you knit it? Omg Jared 😂
honestly my favorite part about winter this year in my little corner of the world was that we actually got winter again. cold days and snowy days... ❤not as much as we used to but it felt close to it
I started knitting this winter! I feel like a bit of a granny, but in the best way possible! ❤ it makes me feel so cozy, and has been a great replacement for mindless activities like instagram or tiktok! I live in alberta and this has been the warmest winter we have had in My entire life! So I've been enjoyed the sunshine, despite it being January ❄️ Love the bloopers 😂 wishing you all the best! Thanks for being one of the things I look so forward too everytime you post! 💗
I love how Jarred said you looked cute, like Anne of Green Gables when you asked how you looked with the bonnet on! It’s so good that he gets you. (I got questioned why I dressed so different instead) Being an Autumn & Winter gal I want to say that deciding to enjoy a season really does make a difference! Last Summer I decided instead of complaining about the H&H(heat & humidity) of NC summers and longing for it to be over that I’d embrace it instead. I joined a pool and went nearly every day instead of staying in the AC. I enjoyed iced matcha’s at Dunkin Donuts on my way home. I also decorated for summer with mermaids, sea creatures, summer beachy pillows and a pirate/mermaid sign for my downstairs bathroom. It really made the summer fly by in a good way and it lightened my mood. 😊

The way you've created a safe space full of magic, books, cozy things and beauty, heals my soul and incredibly my body as well. I love that Ashworth quote! It is so funny that January is seen as a time to set goals and be productive but our bodies are telling us to rest more in the winter ❤️
Currently ill and awaiting surgery, almost confined to my home not able to go out. I have become so lost in the darkness and this video has helped greatly, thank you my friend
I love what you said about mind wandering… I think a lot of us numb out with technology and work because we’re scared of being alone with our thoughts, but that’s what we’re meant to do. What a great practice to let the thoughts come and really explore your ideas.
This is the first year I've embraced how I feel about winter. I always slow down, but usually feel guilty about it. Slowing now, I realize there is a visual "cleanness" to winter that gives us time to reset before the (beautiful) visual clutter of spring shows.
I’ve had those during and after quarantine. I’m so sorry!!! I’m all better now and so will you. Sending you some Greek ☀️ shine to lift your spirits up a little, dear stranger
I used to have them too to the point that I got so bad I never believed they’d go away. BUT, they did, so I just wanted to share that things will get better 🩷 I hope you have a lovely winter xx
Dear Desi, I want you to know that your videos truly bring joy to my life. There are other RUclipsrs who are fun and may bring a short moment of joy when I watch their videos, but your videos stay with me long after I watch them. It is the positive attitude, the wonder and amazement with which you approach life that stays in my heart, a reminder of how I must approach my own life and all its little daily miracles.
I'm a Rhode Island native and I am SO excited that you are loving our sweet little state. I believe you were definitely meant to be a New England girl! There is so much to savor in all seasons and you are close to everything from the ocean to the mountains. Thank you for your sweet videos. Your enthusiasm is contagious! Check out Wickford, RI if you haven't already.
Haven’t even watched it yet, but I’ve been rewatching your start of 2023 video every morning to start the day so I am very excited to be with a friend in our hibernation era ❤
I always watch your videos on repeat. You have no idea how much impact you have on my life. I'm always so calm after watching them. It's like therapy for me.
Worked out today that my anxiety was getting worse not better, I'd just been living with constant anxiety instead of having panic attacks, as well learning I'm probably autistic and ADHD (nothing wrong with that) and this video has provided the burst of calm and relaxation I desperately needed. Thank you so much Desi ❤
one of my most favourite videos of yours to date!! thank you so much for spreading the love this winter. I've been able to commit some more time to my knitting this winter (started about a year ago) and it is the perfect cozy hobby! Stay warm and safe friends
I love your crafting mistakes and the cats interrupting the journaling, I like that you sometimes forget names and you get really enthused about things and you are willing to put bloopers at the end- there is something perfectly imperfect about you that is the heart of what is endearing about these videos.
As an EDS sufferer, I completely agree with your philosophy of slowing right down in the winter. My pain levels get very high in damp conditions and as I live in the UK, winter is cold and damp! Getting warm and cosy and allowing myself just to be really helps - I also have a mandatory afternoon nap which has revolutionised my mental and physical health 🥰🥰
I love living here on the northern east coast USA. We get the best (and the woerst) of all four seasons. I love each one because I know, just when I get sick of one the next one is on its way 😊 I can't be bothered complaining about the weather, I just look for the best in each one. Go out and take pictures of nature, it's so therapeutic!
“I write about you almost daily in my gratitude journal”, what a beautiful thing to say❤. This may be one of my favourite video’s of yours, I adore the cozy ambience you managed to create. Hope you are well and lots of love from the Netherlands
I'm in love with the winter this year also..i use to feel melancholy but now I see that nature is doing what its suppose to..resting..stillness..hibernation..im learning to go with the flow of nature as well. Feels better.
I‘m laying sickly in bed and watching this video gave me such comfort and warmth. I‘m feeling so much better already now haha! Slowing down even though live can be so hectic is an amazing feeling! ✨
Boredom is such a friend to creativity. That's part of my struggle right now. It seems there's always so much to do and think about that my brain doesn't have that lovely time to just be bored and wander and see what it can come up with. As a kid I was often in situations that I didn't want to be in and it left time for my brain to be elsewhere. To sit in the boredom and come up with stories and ideas. I really miss that.
THIS is the one video that I’ve been longing for lately! I want to keep enjoying this season and this will certainly help. THANK YOU dear Desiree. 😊♥️👏🏻
Thanks mom!! Sorry it wasn’t up sooner 😄 Our trip took up a lot of the time I would have been using to work on this video. But I hope you still enjoy it!
@@DarlingDesi It’s all good! Important thing is that YOU got some needed and deserved R&R! I’m just happy anytime we get to see and experience one of your videos. 🥰
I come here to relax and enjoy life through your eyes. Sometimes I forget to stop and enjoy the little things. Thanks Desi for being the one to remind me to do that. 💕💕
I am thankful I live in a place with all 4 seasons… I love them all! It’s a bit dreary right now here in Pennsylvania. I am hoping for more snow soon 🥰 I always enjoy your videos. Thank you!
Every weekend, when I have time in the morning, I like to sip my coffee and let my mind wander. I do this for about an hour or two, then I write in my journal. This is before I go on my phone or take in any content. My own content comes first.
I've had a really bad spell of mental health issues this January. It started with SAD then snowballed (hehe, good expression for winter I guess!) I'm doing better now but seasonal depression is so, so real and I have really felt it here in gloomy England. So if anyone is reading this and is struggling, I offer you a hug from one spirit to another. These videos help SO MUCH and I'm so grateful for your uploads, Desi. They are like a warm tonic for the soul
Seeing a new Desi video has been posted is pure joy. I enjoyed your post-christmas winter decorating ideas. This year I've got a winter woodland vibe going on with red accents and a few strategically placed hearts as we go into Valentine's Day. Think winter birds, snowmen, deer, lanterns and some greenery with pinecones and red berries. Cozy winter nature vibes! Thanks for another video and the reminder of winter's simple joys. ❄☺
I deal w same. Inflammation is hard. Ty so much for teaching us to listen, feel, and just be. Enjoy all life has given us. The simple things are what matters in the end.
I love this and totally agree, winter is a time of hibernation, DEEP reflection, introspection and rest and relaxation~~~I miss the snow since I have moved down south~~enjoy and stay cozy~~~
I am an Erik Satie girlie too. My favorite pure music (without vocals) tents to be French late 19th/early 20th century. For between Christmas and Valentines decor, we leave up anything from Christmas that is not Christmas specific. So the lights stay up to ward off the darkness. All the penguins and snowflakes stay up. And most of that will stay up until March. In February, I switch out a few more things and add in the Valentines stuff. Which, I guess I should do this weekend! Beautiful work as always.
Hi Desi, I just wanted to say thank you for your videos. My daughter is currently going through an autism diagnosis, she struggles with panic attacks and anxiety. But you videos are so calming when shes had a tricky day. We watch them together and share our love of vintage books and slow moments. She's redoing her room using ideas you gave her and she feels encouraged to be herself whenever she watches you.
I am seated 🤩🥹❤ Edit: I feel SO inspired, I'm going to change up my living space rn and then start making this paper flowers-kit I bought a while ago, but never got started!
I feel so warm and present while watching your videos 🥰 This month my heart has been heavy with depression and anxiety, and now I feel light again. The world you paint is like a cosy fairytale, and I’m blessed to get to peek into it. Thank you Desi! Also I love the bloopers, and that dazzling ruby red hair looks stunning on you ♥️✨ You are a radiant ruby snow Queen! 👑🌹 Sending love from Bath in England 🛁
Something about this episode, particularly the snow put two lines for a book that's not yet written into my head. The opening line(s): And as she stood, her white dress sparkling like sunrise on snow, she sighed. it had been a long time coming but it was finally here. Her wedding day. and the closing line(s) And as she stood, her dress as black as the sky around her, she sighed. It was finally over, but what a life they had led. because I like when a closing line echoes an opening line.
The Intro alone is just so calming and beautiful! I always love your Videos so much they really inspire me to be more creative and do the things I truly want! Thank you so much, Desi🤍
I can't believe I haven't watched this video yet this winter. I think I'll be watching it every second day for the rest of my winter here in the southern hemisphere. So beautiful and encouraging. 💙🌲
Last December and the following January have been some of the hardest months for me personally in a very long time. Mentally, I’ve been so messed up and the sad thing is I know so many people who have experienced the same thing. When I was saw your video I was genuinely so relieved, because I cannot stress the positive impact your sweet videos have on my life. Thank you so much for all you do, and I truly hope your winter is lovely.
As my favorite creator, you consistently delivering content that resonates with me on a deeper level! Your passion and dedication shine through, inspiring me to seek out what truly brings happiness to my own heart. Thank you Desi for being on the platform 💌✨
City snow is its own beauty. I love winter. I’m Canadian and winter is my absolute favourite. It’s not easy, it can be very expensive to buy clothing and heat the home. Apart from that, there is beauty in the darkness ❤
The house was so lifeless after the Christmas decorations were put away I decided to fully embrace Chinese New Year. My cottage is now bright with red and gold with big red lanterns. It lifts my spirits so much. Colour is so important.
Desi, the only complaint I have of your videos is that there just isn't enough of them. Often, I just rewatch older videos of yours. Your videos to me bring a sense of being in a fairy tale. Please, please never stop being you!
Perfection as always! You are a blessing to RUclips. Thank you for the beauty and wisdom you bring into so many lives and homes with your videos. I will be watching this video every winter ❤
omg your kitchen reminds me of my moms kitchen in the 90's! I remember one year for valentine's day she made a dried cinnamon apple wreath using real apples and gingham ribbon it was soooo cute! I could see you making one of those!
I love walking through the nature center trails in the snow. I look for all the footprints of the critters that passed down the trail. Once I saw deer tracks weaving from side to side on the trail. The thought of a deer trotting down the trail having fun made me smile. I know he was having fun because there are no predators in this nature center, so he was skipping along for the joy of it.
Oh how I've missed your videos, Desi. They bring so much joy and peace to my heart. I'm so glad you're doing well. I've been reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Hobbit for the first time this winter and I am so obsessed. The movies hold a special place in my heart but the books are masterpieces. There's a reason Tolkein is on of the best. Keep well and keep happy
Beautiful video and message. I have allowed myself to “winter” this month without guilt that I should be doing something and it’s been lovely! Love the bloopers at the end. ❤
Thanks for reminding us that Today is a present!!! Be still, enjoy and be passionate about it... Winter is my favorite, too! I love the forced rest...other seasons are so busy!
I love your videos so much, you’re one of my favourite content creators, but I find it’s more aspirational for me rather than achievable. When you have to work multiple jobs and take care of a child on your own, you can’t really slow down and thrive in the same way 💔 but I still try and bring small elements of this into my daily life
Thank you for this lovely video, Desi. In the Netherlands we only have the cold and the bare trees in winter, there is no snow anymore. I would love to live with the snow once more, like a winter wonderland. It makes winter beautiful.
In my part of Norway, we've had snow since October and it will probably stay well into May 😊 And I love it! Even though it is really cold today, minus 28 Celsius (-18,4 F) in the early morning. The days are getting longer, in December sunrise is about 0930 to half past two, so only 5 hours in the darkest days. But now there's sun until half past four in the afternoon and it is wonderful!❤ I love the seasons and I love snow 😊 Lots and lots of snow! Have a magical winter weekend ❤
Snow is ✨ magic? Omg you're so right. Living in New England most of my life I have taken it for granted. I recently saw snow under a microscope on Google and just one single snowflake ❄️ is breathtaking. Omg it is Magical 💖❄️💖
I have had a terrible 1.5 years - two surgeries, constant health struggles, terrible pain and now recently gynecological issues that seem to drag on forever. Seeing all of the people with health issues in these comments make me feel so seen! No one ever seems to truly get it, the toll that constant health struggles takes on you. I’m wishing every single person here brighter days in the future, endurance for the present and a little something magical each day:)
I've always loved winter. I think as an introvert with anxiety, the still, quiet, pure quality of winter really speaks to my soul. The dark mornings and evenings give me a chance to curl up with tea and candles every single day. We don't get much snow where I live now and that gets me down, so I loved seeing all the shots of that stunning snowy woodland, with the Narnia/Moominland Midwinter vibes. We're taking down our Christmas tree today, actually. We always do it on Candlemas Eve/Imbolc. There is so much to celebrate in January and February if you look for it!
In the tapestry of our hectic lives, it's remarkably easy to overlook the delicate threads of joy woven into the mundane. Desi, like a guardian of innocence, encourages us to savor the enchanting moments tucked away in the routine. Through her, we rekindle our appreciation for the small wonders, embracing the profound magic hidden within each fleeting moment. We love youuuuuuu
I wish we had that much snow, this winter. We haven't had beautiful white winters for some years. We had snow before christmas,it lasted about 3 days..., but that was it. The day were just grey and ugly, with some rainy cold damp days... I don't like the cold and damp temperatures. I do love snow though,i mean lots of snow...maybe 20 cm😊 that would be beautiful. That would be my winter,it would make everything lovely and cosy❄😊. Thank you for that beautiful and cosy video☕🥐📚❄ I love the story of "anne of green gables" and "little women". I also love books from jenny colgan.
I long for snow and winter in general all summer long but then in winter my winter deppression just ruins it all, also the rain in winter netherland doesn´t help. School also makes it so hard to enjoy winter as I leave for school in the dark and come home in the dark, I usually try to go on sun catching walk in lunch break but my favorite thing in winter is cozying up with a cup o tea, candle light and a video of someone romanticizing winter after school. However in winter break I try to actually enjoy life outside too.
I love winter! Poor January, no one seems to like him after fancy and exciting December. But I take out my fur pillows and throws, I put yellow fairy lights around, woodland animal decorations, candles etc. I’m re reading my LOTR books and put fireplace ambience videos on tv. I LOVE IT!
Dear Desi. I don't need mental healt care when I got your videos. This is not meant to be any preassure on you but a thank you for your amazing work. You bring inspiration, joy and comfort. A big thank you from a very cold and snowy Sweden. Today I will take a walk and enjoy winter.
Thank you again for this lovely video which helps me so much to calm down every time! My wish for 2024 would be, that you post more "lazy" videos between your masterpieces. Just you sitting down once a month telling us what you read, crafted etc. Just more simple videos as it is really hard to wait so long every time as your videos take so much work. Remember every little video is awesome too.
any fellow college students living vicariously through Desi? I love your videos because they always bring me comfort in a time that's hard to find comfort! Thank you for your content!!
Honestly, a "seasonal" job sounds really nice. Work spring, summer, fall... and wind down in winter. What a nice rest :) I guess if I am able to do this in the future, I will
I completely agree with lighting and amber lighting in the evenings or candlelight only once the sun has set. Ever since my move to New Orleans I have wanted to slow down and relax and rest more instead of being a workaholic. As a teacher who never knew when to quit or who never knew when it was okay to be just good enough and not perfect, I was reading this book about how to become a better storyteller. It was like one of those National Best Sellers, and it was by the checkout at UPS when I was, I think, making some copies. My favorite part about the book is when it talks about where storytelling came from and how people were usually around a fire and didn't have all of these modern technologies like electricity and digital entertainment and they had to entertain themselves. That took place with stories, experiences and traditions passed down orally. Even though I have moved back to the north I have been in the process of understanding what actual joy and peace mean to me outside of the classroom and outside of work. One of the that I would always feel bad about was spending so much money on candles because I just loved how they looked and how they smelled. This video reminds me that there are other people like me and like you who do not and should not feel bad about spending your money on the things that you care about which is making a cozy space. A healthy and safe space for your mind to rest and your body for that matter. Thank you so much for this video! You have helped me feel less alone with this idea and less shameful for what I choose to spend my money on. I also decided to invest in these awesome amber book lights that I have used as sconces by my bed as well as a low light in my bathroom for early morning or late night 🌙 releases 😂 and I also bring one with me when I go to work so when I get to my classroom early in the morning when it is still dark, there is a wonderful low light versus the obnoxiously bright overhead light for me to sort of sit in and relax before the children pour in.
Thank you so much for being here sweet friends!

I live in Colorado, and I just love days when I wake up to snowfall! I love the Winter. It is such a time of quiet and peace.
Sending you healing wishes! I really hope you recover soon. Being sick during this time of the year is the worst 😣
“Your current self needs you” wow I just practically burst into tears 🥺
Your smile when you were talking about books ❤❤, so contagious ❤
🥰🫶🏻
i love your filming, editing, the scenes, your voiceovers…everything! Thank you❤
Thank you so much!! 🥹🫶🏻
One minute in and I could cry this video is so incredibly sweet. ❤🥹
Oh, Desi, your videos and sweet spirit are such a balm to the soul! Thank you so much for sharing your magic with us!
Thank you sweet Elle 🥹🫶🏻
Your house is a living dream! It's so cosy and gives me so much inspo for my own place❤ The whole video is so cosy aswell!
My little girls have come to the phone and said you look so pretty in your dress and your hair is soooo beautiful ❤. Keep being you Desi xx
Awww 🥹🫶🏻 Tell them I say thank you!!
@@DarlingDesi they’re so happy you commented back. We’re in the UK and love your videos 🥰😘
I am seated 🤩🥹❤
Edit: I feel SO inspired, I'm going to change up my living space rn and then start making this paper flowers-kit I bought a while ago, but never got started!
LOVE YOU! 🫶🏻💖
Thank you for saying that 🥹 The intro is my favorite part of the video 🥰
I love this and it helps as I haven’t been feeling great this past week
I hope you can feel better going forward 🤍 Please remember to take care of yourself 🫶🏻
@@DarlingDesi thanks I’ve just been not well with an infection you too ❤️🥰
I can't believe I haven't watched this video yet this winter. I think I'll be watching it every second day for the rest of my winter here in the southern hemisphere. So beautiful and encouraging. 💙🌲
I agree with your cat biting at the end of a pen is fantastic and should be done often! 🥰
Agreed 🥰
Thanks Desi, Im really sick right now and this made my day
I’m so sorry you’re not well! Sending you all the healing energy. Drink lots of water, tea and rest! 💗
Winter is my absolute favorite season ❤
As my favorite creator, you consistently delivering content that resonates with me on a deeper level! Your passion and dedication shine through, inspiring me to seek out what truly brings happiness to my own heart. Thank you Desi for being on the platform 💌✨
City snow is its own beauty. I love winter. I’m Canadian and winter is my absolute favourite. It’s not easy, it can be very expensive to buy clothing and heat the home. Apart from that, there is beauty in the darkness ❤
autumn is my favorite season but winter is very close second. i love this video
Your dark auburn hair looks absolutely stunning in this vid 💗💗
Thank you!! I’ve really been loving this color 🥰
The house was so lifeless after the Christmas decorations were put away I decided to fully embrace Chinese New Year. My cottage is now bright with red and gold with big red lanterns. It lifts my spirits so much. Colour is so important.
Thank you Desi❤
Truly ....you are a blessing to the world..
U make us all love the life we have Little more❤❤❤
“ its magic if you chose to look at it that way”
awhh I just love you Desi 💗💗
“It has personality” haha I loved this so much!❤
😄👍🏻
You're the world's foremost hygge queen, I'm so happy to see you're getting more into something you're SOOO incredibly good at! 🕯️ ☕️ ❄️ 📚 📕 📖 ❄️
Oh and I've got a feeling that Gatsby and official member of the kindred spirits club.
In a world full of hate and negativity, your are a bless! Your videos are like therapy for me, they are healing my soul. Thank you, Desi❤️
Beautiful video and message. I have allowed myself to “winter” this month without guilt that I should be doing something and it’s been lovely! Love the bloopers at the end. ❤
A massive storm just hit us after a few days of false spring. Perfect timing!!
You are my chocolate chip cookie my friend...thank you so much for making me feel so much better, you do that all the time ❤
That’s just the nicest, sweetest thing to say 🥹💗 Thank you!!
Thanks for reminding us that Today is a present!!! Be still, enjoy and be passionate about it... Winter is my favorite, too! I love the forced rest...other seasons are so busy!
We are part of nature so feels good to respond to the flow we feel within, and trust 💜 all is well
I love your videos so much, you’re one of my favourite content creators, but I find it’s more aspirational for me rather than achievable. When you have to work multiple jobs and take care of a child on your own, you can’t really slow down and thrive in the same way 💔 but I still try and bring small elements of this into my daily life
Your videos are so soul-healing, in the times of non-stop life disasters it’s like a breath of fresh air💜 Thank you, Desi, you’re doing a valuable job
I started reading the book on my bedside table last night after watching your video. The one that’s been there since the beginning of December :) ❤
Aww yay that makes me so happy! I hope it was good ☺️
Snow is ✨ magic?
What a beautiful place where you live. You have all that yard and then a view of the water. How lovely.
Is so simple, when I watch your videos I know magic exists!!! Lots of hugs from a dyslexic family ❤
Thank you for that beautiful and cosy video☕🥐📚❄
I love the story of "anne of green gables" and "little women".
It may sound weird but I love the way snow smells. Must be a core memory from childhood growing up in upstate NY ❄️❤️
I was just thinking about you yesterday! So glad to see your name on my screen. I love your videos so much ❤
Thank you so much for that 🥹🫶🏻 I hope you enjoy the video!
This channel has helped me discover a long lost part of myself and I’m so thankful ✨
Your happiness and enthusiasm are so contagious and I always feel energised after watching your videos
