Well summarised. The point about the side-effects of PPIs is of particular importance and is a message that needs to be gotten out there.

When they say go plant based it doesn't mean you go to super market and buy processed vegan foods it means you cook the whole food and learn to make your own healthy dishes that don't have sugar, maltodextrin , glocose syrup ect i dramatically increased my health heart wise and digestive health it works my friend went on a vegan diet and a year later starting having problems with his health GERD, hip fractures, heart palpation's i took it on myself and asked him to show me his fridge when he opened it i was horrified it was filled with tons of processed vegan meals, meatless burgers , store brought fruit juices with extra added sugar and vitamins i told him to throw his fridge away took him shopping a week later and showed what he should be eating and only thing he did was moan he had to cook it all from scratch i was like tough cause your not touching another processed vegan muffin again a year on and his health improved greatly his gerd went away it took him some time as he still brought ready meals when i wasnt about so he slowly shifted i guess

Wish it was that easy. But many have used digestive enzymes, acv, lemon juice in water with meals, probiotics, but years of bad eating make gerd almost impossible to heal

Yep most diseases in most cases obviously not all. newborn baby didn't accumulate problems over decades because they are new. But the fact is look at how rare disease is for people who did not have time to accumulate it. But I mean it's not always that simple. But generally for the most part our health is in our hands.

10 years ago I had my first real bad experience when my mouth filled up with saliva and I felt a pain in my left arm. Then, I felt like doing number 1 and 2's. My friend rushed me to the hospital and they thought I had a heart attack but after being monitored for 11 hrs. It wasn't so. So they put it down to anxiety and so they gave me Zantac.
This helped for some time and so I took it as I knew I was having an attack coming on.
    Today they still don't know.
So I began to change my diet and had a lot less acid foods and spicy foods.
I still get it from time to time but still the medical industry still doesn't know even today.
I don't really want to lower my acid in the stomach as I believe it's there for a reason but something is not right. I eat more healthy home grown greens and it hasn't been too bad since. But at times it comes back but not as often.

Ive read comments on other guys who had hiatal hernia and reversed their GERD with a paleo and keto type diets, somehow it works for them, has anybody healed with hiatal hernia on a vegan diet I wonder, i have a hiatal hernia and overweight and been on PPI for years, has anybody had luck with a vegan diet in reversing their GERD? Thanks in advance :)

@@tanyasydney2235 Really? May I ask if you had hiatal hernia and if you are or were on acid reflux meds? Both camps make sense to me, keto though, Ive always found to be tough, just too much fat (gallbladder pain) carnivore felt better but couldnt keep it up, did you recover, if so what did you do?
I find the vegan diet to be too wet, i.e. salads, veggies etc unless I use starches like rice, pasta, bread.
The problem that can occur after taking meds for acid reflux for years are leaky gut/sibo/sifo/hitamine intolerance etc which means that lots of vegan foods become VERY problematic, i.e. trigger terrible reactions and so this has been the case with me, the only veggies I can eat are minimal, can't eat Gluten or dairy, corn, potatoes, choc, nuts, and many others, meat doesnt have any affect on the small intestine it seems, nobody who has sibo and histamine intolerance will tell you that as soon as they eat lets say a potato they start sneezing, in my case the roof of the mouth feels painful and as if a cats just scraped its big paw through it, awful feeling and yet we are told meat give inflammation, but when eating eat no reaction, this is cause the bacteria that reside in the small intestine and shouldn't be there, feed off certain carbs, they dont seem to feed off meat or give any reaction, reflux can also come from the lower gut, i.e. from SIBO etc and so can come from eating certain carbs, its a minefield really.

@@SciSciToys Yes, I can relate. I don't know if I have a hiatal hernia. I do know that while on a keto diet and eating a lot of fat, that's when all my issues started, including gallbladder ones. So, I'm now on a bland plat diet consisting of mostly sweet fruit, brown rice, oats, flax and hemp seeds, avocados, tofu, and sourdough bread. I'm staying away from very fibrous veggies and salads. Hoping to reverse the GERD in the next few weeks.

@@tanyasydney2235 Its crazy, one guy said he reversed his GERD and had hiatal hernia on a Carnivore diet, he lost weight lost his fatty liver etc, man ... I dont know who or what to believe anymore, I tried Carnivore for a few days, blood pressure dropped nicely, I thought WOW how can this be, then the gallbladder aches started and so realised maybe too much cholesterol and fat triggered my gallbladder to wake up and rebel, so now gone plantbased again, my vice is drinking english teas and these are bad for the LES or sphincter, they relax it and you get reflux, let me know how you get on, I also need to lose weight and have been in this situation for decades, maybe anything that helps me lose weight will address all the other problems, I mad ea video talking about this on my other channel, you can check it out, the Title is My Low Histamine Diet and the Toilet from Hell and the channel is called Gero Fiore, let me know how you get along, if you are overweight than losing weight can help Im sure about this now.

Pretty sure 2019 is going to put a dent in the game with "The Game Changers" and 2 RCTs that I know about with one being on a plant based diet and cancer and another on a plant based diet and Alzheimer's.

Sorry to hear. Please review the foods or amounts you were eating - plant-based diet can be unhealthy if done wrong and can be hard if the microflora and /or intestines are damaged, but ideally you should remain as far plant-based as possible in any case.

    • @SciSciToys
      @SciSciToys 2 года назад +1

Im trying plant based or vegan but have SIBO and so there are many plant foods I cannot eat without sneezing my brains out, forget beans, mushrooms, many friuts, forget grains, yes even gluten free bread, oh did I mention potato, sweet potato, even honey, nuts all drive me nuts, no wonder some have to go full Carnivore seeing as the list of foods tht they can eat dwindles down to meats and fish and only a few plants if any, even probiotics I cant eat, dairy and yoghurt forget it.
On the face of the vegan theory of reversing GERD seems plausible, reflux of acid/pepsin/bile can be minimised by going vegan, Fat weaken the LES or stomach sphincter, Fat increases Bile production, protein increases pepsin and the higher the ph or alkalinity this kind of neutralises pepsin and then there is acid, less meat required less acid production, vegan diet doesn't require strong acids to digest unlike meat or animal proteins, I get all that ... BUT
Why is it that for some people or most people this doesnt work, Ive spoken to a few guys who have had hiatal hernias and recovered even some being on PPI scid reflux meds longterm with a paleo or keto type diet, how is that possible?
One reason could be that most plants can if you have leaky gut or SIBO etc CARPET BOMB your small intestine and create a war and your body will react by creating allergy like reactions, like sneezing your brains out, nose just itching to sneeze, eyes ithy as hell, roof of mouth raspy, waking up with a super dry mouth cause nose is blocked all night, mucus etc etc but also one affect IS reflux, the lower GI tract can affect higher up and cause reflux too.
This is how for some a paleo diet works to heal the gut and not allow any food sensitivity reactions of food mediated IGG or reactions to certain foods MOSTLY plants, those who do well on a vegan diet do NOT have this carpet-bombing affect and do well, believe me I WANT TO BE VEGAN but my doesnt does NOT allow it or shall I say my state of health or lack of health in my small intestines wont allow it.
So some people will say I went vegan and healed my GERD and its true, some will say they went vegan and felt terrible thir GERD got worse, they avoided many plant foods and went paleo etc and were healed - this is why.
