Fits Perfect, another job weld done! Any chance in a past life you were there building the Pyramids? I can picture you in front of pyramid next to the Lincoln Zephyr. Maybe a photoshop is in order?
I would like to thank you Ian I've watched you since you started out over the many years and I have gained so much knowledge and inspiration from you witch has gave me alot of new skills and helped mould me into a great car builder for that I thank you... I know your set on painting the zephyr but please consider doing a patina build to preserve that clean body and the ageing it's done very well over the years clear it and give it some pin stripes give it the justice it deserves my friend please 👌😎
In the summer of 1938, my Dad's buddy Lenny had a 37 Lincoln Zephyr. Along with two other friends they drove that thing all over Wisconsin, pals on the road, no cares in the world. Destined to fight in the infantry in Normandy in 44, he always looked back on that summer as priceless.
You mention how people are always questioning your building. I have found there are always going to be complainers. Personally, I love the stuff you do.
Thank you, you keep me building, because of your building. I'm 77 years old and building a 32 fiberglass ford 5w coupe,,440 mopar. I lov it. so thanks again
The 1937 Zephyr is a real life, honest classic. It is a big, classy, and almost "In-your Face" design. Your choice of wheels and the slight lowered stance only enhance the appearance of the car. I always loved the front design, but this is one of the few cars of this era that I find the sedan version more attractive than the coupe. The Zephyr coupe is built on the same wheelbase, which results in a rear deck that appears to be out of proportion to the rest of the body. However, the resulting long trunk will comfortably hold 14 teenagers when sneaking into the drive-in. My older brother had a '37 coupe back in the late 1960s which he occasionally let me borrow for a weekend... The car drove like a dream with a smooth ride. The builder had used the original V-12 engine to restore another Lincoln and replaced it with a 1956 Olds out of a Super 88. The 240 HP V8 moved the car at a pretty good clip. The engine later developed a rod knock and he found a 1958 Pontiac and swapped the 4-barrel 370 engine to gain 45 horsepower.
One of the most beautiful and stylish front ends. The headlight glasses and grill are works of art. Can’t wait to see this car finished and VWagon too.
The enthusiasm you and Jamie bring to the build is infectious. The hard work (and tedium) of the suspension math are paid off with the installation. I like you don't resort to lasers for lining up the body parts. Just grab that 9 pound hammer and roll buddy roll. Thank you for another fun episode.
Look. Measure. Paper template. Cut. Fit. Grind. Fit. Weld. Measure. Grind. Weld. Grind. Look. Repeat. ...and THAT'S how you get the new headlight switch to fit in the dash - like it belongs. The car looks soooo fine. The original body lines with the chassis mods and drop suspensions - front and rear. Now "That's Entertainment". Thanks for sharing ! ! !
To heck with the critics and the complainers. Ian has been building custom cars for more than 30 years, he knows what he's doing. Thanks again love your work. This is coming from a 72-year-old car builder
I have been enjoying the progress on the Zephyr, but today when you mocked it up with the grille and hood, I really fell in love with it. Then you say you are putting it in storage for a while! No! Not now! One of the things that really grabbed me today was the awesome patina that the car has. I can’t imagine any paint job that could make it look better than the way it looks now! It would be a shame to mess with what Mother Nature has taken all these years to produce. Have a great weekend.
Love the Zep, love how you share with us, love Jamie's comments, love your work Ian, you are a real artist and artists don't always clean their brushes! ❤❤❤❤
Ian & Jamie, I must say, you guys are the most prolific and productive fabricators on RUclips. You are building 4+ cars at the same time. And you're producing sometimes 4-5 shows a week! I remember dropping by the Glenoaks shop in the old days just to shoot the breeze and see what crazy concoction you were working on at the time. You have come a long way over the years and I am happy to see your passion for building is still there! By the way the Zepher is really taking shape! Have you thought about putting a Crown Vic engine and drive train in it? Can't wait to see what's next! John
Ian, hands down your builds are beautiful. You don't need a multi-million dollar shop to bulid cool rides. Keep doing it like our predecessors. I will own an Ian build someday
You are absolutely right, Ian. That is all the car needed it is wonderful to see it. I am happy to see you save it. I also totally agree that you don't need to chop it. Good job dude.
So happy that you got a Zephyr of your own. I loved what you did with Victor's. But I'm really looking forward to seeing this beautiful curvy piece of history coming alive with an engine and raising eyebrows at every show you cruise to. You know, your voice is so melodic and regular you could be a hypnotist. Total east field there.😊

Great job on the video! As always, it perfectly complements the verbal descriptions of what and why. The car looks great! Can't wait to see it finished ... although it sounds like that will be a while.

So been racing dirt stock cars for over fourty years.I've have many wins multiple championships, a ton of stories for most of them. Since I was a small boy my father tells a story about his one and only win.. In a Lincoln Zypher. The original 12 cylinder was nit available so he installed a flat head six. During the race the voltage regulator came loose jammed the throttle wide open. He continued to race not backing off, just hold the car on track barely. To eventually take a win. The other drivers wanted to see the v12 post race. Only to see the little six list in the engine compartment. Had the throttle not gut stuck my dad's sure he'd never have won. My father's still alive, just turned 89.what a great story.. Just wanted to share. Great build choice.. I love all your projects.. Looking forward to seeing this one completed.. God bless.
It's just a suggestion, but, I see......extend the front door by 4". Connect the two back windows into one long window. I wouldn't overdo the chop, 3 to 5 inches. Personally, I think the profile would be amazing. I know you will go where your eye leads you, but it might be something to think about . You are truly an old-school craftsman. Have you ever checked out Mike Bellos, down around southern Cal. Metal benders always amaze me.....a great craft. He manages to mix the two. Having said that, look at the old-school stuff. Some of the thirty to forty-year-old builds. No cracks, great paint, and a long life. Keep up the great work. I really enjoy your posts.

The stance on the Zephyr is right on. A modern drive with old school looks. You nailed it this time.
You mean
Nailed it “AGAIN” lol
