At 7:26 I stopped and just said WOW! That grain is just plain gorgeous! I'll watch the rest but I was sold right there. I REALLY enjoy what you do. Thank yiou. --- LATER --- I did watch the rest and this is stunning. Thank you for NOT doing resin on this. Knowing when to quit is a very special skill.
I like that you show the actual pace of work rather than having it all sped up but also enjoy that you speed it up for the sake of time. Beautiful work.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of that little hedgehog that was hiding on the shelf behind this burl when you first took it down, but today's project might be my new favorite. I love the way you sanded the inclusions to make them part of the beauty of the piece instead of flaws.
This is perhaps my favorite of all the pieces I’ve watched you produce. Love that you took the time to clean up and finish the individual cracks. Nice composition, beautiful result. Well done indeed.
What a fun and beautiful vase. I wish you would've shown us the finiished inside at the very end. The earlier glimpse seemed to be even prettier grain than the outside. That and shone a flashlight inside the vase in a slightly darkened room. It would've been interesting to see the effect of light on the wall being emitted from the cracks. Even still, very much enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
Well Andy, this may have been "Hard As Nails" but with your extremely talented and gifted hands, you turned this ordinary piece of wood into a masterpiece! Bravo Maestro!
That is a very creative use of a woodworm screw in a chuck on a surface that is not in perfect contact with the jaws of the chuck. I never thought to try that. The extended jam chuck that you used to detail the bottom of the vase was something that I need to try.
Very pretty! I like the clip where you install the steady rest. Thank you for showing it. I also like the sanding disc modification too. Very ingenious.
The grain is very, very! For me…looking at the piece of wood you started from, I had no idea that was hiding in there. You did. You animated it and brought it to life. Beautiful Creation, it lives once again!
im vry happy for u congratulations. the traveler has become one of my favs ever since the first video i watched. thank u for all that u have done and will continue to do
HAPPY NEW YEAR, Andy!!! your talent & creativity never ceases to amaze me, I often refer to your pieces as conversation pieces as they inspire comments on their beauty & workmanship...from shaping to finish, this piece is another beautiful work of art, the finish brought the woodgrain alive!!!
Beautiful result as always. I love the look of that new tool. I assume it improves the stability of what's being turned. It looks like the wood workers answer to the flux capacitor.
Wait, wasn't that a rock?! Lol. I love the bottom section that looks like it's being turned and pulled like silly putty but it's petrified wood turned into a gorgeous masterpiece.
I was impressed that you could create this vase with the way the wood looks, kinda rough to me.but your the master.great video as always.just keep doing what your doing.👍👍👍😎😎😎
Hi Andy what a marvellous piece of wood it has gorgeous grain and spalting, I totally love this wood. I'm glad you left this live edged vase natural and I like the foot on the vase, and I'm glad you did not add resin as it makes even more magnificent and unique. I really live all your hard work how many times did you have to sharpen your tools? The finished vase is magnificent and awesome I really love it. Thanks for another great video again. Amanda xx
A lovely piece. Your work is great. There is one thing; you will have many non wood workers on your channel. Would you tell us the wood and type you are working on. The only wood I recognise is black walnut. a beautiful wood.
That is an absolute corker. I love your natural edge pieces. And you were right not to fill the cracks. The beauty of this piece comes from the grain and the way it springs into focus with a rich varnish. Anyone with good technical skills could do the colour pencil type of thing, but transforming a grotty old bit of timber into a thing of beauty is fine art. Do your wrists ache after working on very hard timber?
Boy you sure do detail finish work. I know what I’d do with that beautiful piece. I’d put one of those fake candle sticks down inside and watch a beautiful glow shine through the little crevices 😻 nice wrk Andy. ❤️
I bought a new phone awhile ago now and I’d lost all the RUclips channels I used to watch. Getting older I couldn’t remember your name / RUclips channel but thank goodness I found you again 😅 another beautiful creation by you ❤
That is exquisite! The shape works perfectly with the grain and the oil brings everything out. As they say these days, it "pops"! It doesn't matter what you do: what piece of wood you have; what shape it starts and ends as; what level of simplicity or intricacy; what outcome you require; whether you use those swirling colours in the resin or "just" a single colour painted on it in certain places, or what finish you use (e.g. this beautiful oil), absolutely everything you do becomes a stunning work of art. I don't know if you have a physical (rather than digital) gallery, but you should have one to show prospective buyers the works in their very best light. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with your online presentation, but you're relying on _us_ to have sufficiently good screens to see things close to how they really are! I wish I'd learned about wood turning decades ago when I was physically capable of doing it. (I knew _of_ it, but as with so many things back then, doing woodwork at school as a girl would have required so many hoops to jump through and my mother wouldn't have been happy about it either! Dad, on the other hand, let me use his tools - including his jigsaw, drill, etc - from about 7 years-old 😅. I wasn't allowed to cook until I was about 10 because I couldn't see over the tops of the various pans. Safety first!) Now various disabilities would stop me even trying. Arthritic hands don't let me knit or embroider anymore, and I used to do single thread embroidery with the smallest, sharpest needles - about as intricate as that gets - and other techniques such as pulled threads (making the first snip of thread was scary!). Given that, "shaving" the external shape of a vase would be impossible after about 30 seconds. Had I learned back then, at least I'd have had a few decades of being so creative! Well, _trying_ to be so creative 😂😂😂. Still, you do inspire me to get my watercolour pencils out, now and then. Even my oil paints. So thank you for keeping that faint internal light of creativity switched on. I _genuinely_ mean every word of this and I am _genuinely_ grateful. Sorry for the essay, but again, thank you for sharing your awesome talent.
Beech burl? Just treated myself to a myford ml8. Been practicing over christmas. I now have a new found respect for the art you produce. Beautiful work! ❤❤
This piece is absolutely exquisite! I love that you gave it a nice "foot" rather than cutting it off. Beautiful work! ❤❤❤
Thanks
WOW!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!WOW!!!!!!!.
The grain in this piece is absolutely amazing.

Thankyou 👍
Outstanding piece! The grain and live edge are gorgeous.
Thanks
Super glad you did not fill the inclusions with resin, you allowed the beauty of nature come through. Excellent!
I like that you show the actual pace of work rather than having it all sped up but also enjoy that you speed it up for the sake of time. Beautiful work.
Cheers

Thank you!

Beautiful wood made a beautiful vase, Andy. I like the foot you left on it. I also thought it was interesting to see you sanding those cracks.
Bill
Thanks Bill
Oftentimes less is more, and this is absolutely one of them. Beautiful, simply beautiful
What a beautiful work of art!!
Your work inspired me to try different things with my lathe. I just got a sphere jig in the mail. I can’t wait to work with it.
That is awesome!
Could I get the link to the sphere jig ?
Вы удивительный мастер, очередное прекрасное изделие с безупречно выраженным рисунком созданным природой и искусно представлен мастером. Браво👏👏👏👍👍👍

Pretty piece of wood. You used a great design as well. Super piece.
Cheers 👍
Well Andy, this may have been "Hard As Nails" but with your extremely talented and gifted hands, you turned this ordinary piece of wood into a masterpiece! Bravo Maestro!

So happy that you didn't fill the inclusions with epoxy! Stunning! Thank you!
Thank you!
What a fab piece of wood, your hard work paid off its stunning .😊
Lovely work Andy - I'm glad you highlighted the inclusions rather than fill them as they really compliment the figure of the Oak!
Many thanks!

At 5:13 the striations in the wood makes it look like the piece was twisted. ❤
Thankyou , Same to you!
That is absolutely gorgeous and I love the wood you used. ❤❤🎉🎉😊
Thanks
Dude, you can make any old lump look special.
Beautiful result as always. I love the look of that new tool. I assume it improves the stability of what's being turned. It looks like the wood workers answer to the flux capacitor.
Thanks .. yes, a steady rest
Stunning! It's a piece of art! ❤
You saw the beauty emerge and you let it stand on it's own merit. Well done.
Thankyou
It might have been hard for you to turn but we love how it turned out!!! It's very beautiful ANdy and an excellent job turning it!!!
Thank you very much!
You can hear how hard the wood is by the sound of the turning chisel. Wonderful work, Andy👍. Best regards from Hans and Cheers 🍻🇦🇹.
Thanks
What a way to start the year! Great piece!!
Thank you

Well done Andy; they are not defects{inclusions} but, beauty marks!!!
A lovely piece. Your work is great.
There is one thing; you will have many non wood workers on your channel. Would you tell us the wood and type you are working on. The only wood I recognise is black walnut. a beautiful wood.
Thankyou .. I always put some info/details in the video description .. This was a piece of Oak Burl
