Here's how I ended up here. Videogamedunkey made a video about Overwatch 2 recently. In that video, he plays the "File City (Day)" music. I immediately got nostalgic, and started listening to Digimon World OST, and now I'm writing this comment after clicking on your video.
Hey man , as a lifelong digimon fan and especially digimon world fan i got a few questions. do you use bugs to play this speedrun? I got confused many times , for example in the drill tunnel where you didnt have to carry away the dirt , you gettin into the angemon palace with a bakemon etc. etc. and how did you master that gambling when you train your digimon? enjoyed the video from top to bottom , thumbs up lad
@@ChriSSorrow some bugs yeah, nothing major tho (anything that allows a massive skip to end of game or anything like that) Drill Tunnel isn't a bug but a timed event, if you don't do the dirt pickup, the job still gets completed in 5 ingame days, so I just do other things til then, as for Ice Sanctuary, that's a bug where there's a pixel-wide gap in between the loading zone and the barrier that stops you from entering, so you just setup like I did and you have clip through, the bonus try is RNG Manipulation as the game limits how often you can even get them to a 10% chance, so I setup the RNG which gives consistent patterns then practice the timing for those patterns
This game is still my favourite game and all the sound effects and music are SO nostalgic to me. I really wish they would make a remaster of this (the PS4 Digimon World does not count).
The PSP and PS4 version is good, but its lacking in misteriousness. This version you got dropped to the digi world without any info at all. You have to figured out everything on your own. But its successor gave you main mission, that is probably a smart move as the market changes but it also took away the fun of discovering something on your own with no help at all.
Watched through the whole run. The amount of knowledge amassed is just insane. Even though it's not a "mechanically intensive" thing to do, it's extremely impressive that people managed to gather just so much information about the game to push it this far. Very good job!

Watching the cruelty to the elecmon hurt me so much. in my mind i knew what was being achieved but my heart couldn't handle it, but still this was a great speedrun, good stuff, looking forward to the next video
i remember playing this game every summer up until about 2005 and never really got anywhere but i enjoyed it so much that i had to look up if many others remember it even, thank you.
All i wish is that this game is adapted to switch. So many good memories. The first time I get a Phoenixmon was so glorious. Just love this game so much
sadly it will never happen. it's a Playstation game, while the switch is Nintendo. I'd love for them to do it as well, but unfortunately it'll never happen.
@@OneMoreBookMatt That's true, but Resident Evil is one of those games that sold on multiple different platforms almost since it's release. Digimon world was exclusively Playstation until DW4, and that game flopped pretty hard. Re:Digitize never made it out of Japan, which was the next Digimon World title to make it off of the Playstation systems, then New Order went back to Playstation exclusive. It may be possible, but the way things are right now, it's unlikely that we will see another Digimon World game on Nintendo game systems. The only games Nintendo seem to get ports for are the knock offs.

One of the games I've played more during my childhood and yet I NEVER EVEN LEFT THE FIRST MAP. I don't know why. I used to spend hours at the Gym trying to figure out how to evolve my digimon in every possible way. It took me 15 years, in a motion of nostalgia, to understand there were other maps and other NPCs I never met before. So even if I played this game so much, I'm watching this scenes for the first time.
I’m not able to finish it 100% 20 year back and now finally able to finish with 100 prosperity after 20 years later when they announce next order coming next year, such a blessed game and by far the best digimon game (second digimon card battle). Very incredible speedrun, Kudos to you
Absolutely mind blowing seeing you storm through a game that took me 70 hours at the bare minimum to beat completely. I keep looking through the comments looking for an explanation of the game pauses you perform several times with a deliberate technique, just have no idea what benefit that brings or even what it does. I have a feeling it has something to do with timing.
it isn't really explained anywhere but what i'm doing is holding pause during a loading screen which buffers the pause to happen at the same place every run allowing me to move alittle before the pause happens, while paused ill switch my direction i'm holding to get 100% consistent movement on whatever screen i did it, most cases ill use it to encounter an enemy in the exact same way so i can RNG manipulate the outcome of the fight (such as learning Thunder Justice/Spinning Shot, guarantee stuns etc) if my movement is even a single pixel off, the fight i'm expecting changes dramatically

Man I remember in the PAL Version of the game the Agumon infront of Ogremons Hideout wasnt doing anything. Wouldnt move, wouldnt talk. We just couldnt figure out what it was or what we were missing. Until one day we were told its a bug in the games version. So many hours wasted trying to figure out wtf is up with that place.

That's just absolutely mental my god. There's a good chance this won't be beaten until we create A.I. Even then, the world might end before that. All I could keep thinking about while watching this was that only A.I should ever attempt to beat your record, it's not worth it for a human to even try.

This game is a trip down memory lane. I remembered getting slime boy every time until I found the gym. The game wasn't beaten until I became a teenager. I thought I knew everything to the game until this Chad started doing bonuses for training and getting them right every time. How is he doing that? The young me would REALLY love to know.
what i'm doing here is called RNG Manipulation, being able to hit the golden poops is normally a 10% chance (game will automatically skip over the last golden poop if you arent on the 10% chance), most games roll the RNG every frame but in Digimon World the RNG is consistent til you do certain actions, you can see me doing things between each slots which is setting up the RNG so that i get the 10% chance everytime, the patterns are also the same every run attempt i do, so just gotta practice those specific patterns and i'm able to do it in runs :)
The triple success result is actually RNG so there's no way to guarantee you hit it every time unless you manipulate said RNG. Though even if you get the correct RNG result for the training you still have to time it.
there are so many things I wish to understand, but can you explain two? how does it work the lucky training? I know is something about rng manipulation, but how can I do that? :v and second, how does you learn the attacks 1st try?
I really wanna do a video on Digimon World Speedrunning but it seems like there's a lot to learn and not many places to learn the info ha. But this run is fascinating to watch.
Yeah, there's never been a full tutorial done for these runs and they are almost always routed off-stream, best I can offer is joining the digimon world speedrun discord and asking for any info you need, I'll eventually be making post run commentary for this run also (just being real lazy on it tbh)

Yes I strongly recommend Next Order as well. It's almost a better designed version of this game. I'm 74 hours into Next Order and still have yet to beat it. It's very challenging in its own way. Alot less random RNG involved and the best part about the game in my opinion is the fact that you get to choose your tamer bonuses and you collect slight pieces of exact parameter requirements for digimon you could get as you raise them. I played the original for over 5 years straight so it will always have a special place in my soul lol. Every aspect has been ultimately improved, whether it be by a small or large margin, hope you give it a shot.

The original name of the character was analog boy, in case if you dont know it. Its also printed on the digimon card game (both analog boy, and analog man as a tamer).
You know I spent so much time figuring out evolutions and trying to get as much done as possible when I got everything done I was no where even close to this speed

First thing I want to know if he do a commented speedrun is how he hit so many time in a row the golden poop from bonus training. Normally the bonus try is rigged so you can get the golden poop one time out of 10 (or something like that). It's especially noticeable if you use an emulator and spam save and reload.
This OST brings back so many memories. I’m 31 now, how I wish I could reverse time and enjoy summer vacation in elementary school, trying to figure out how not to evolve into Numemon 🥹. Good times!
How does the Bonus Try training work? I started playing the Game at Monday again on an Emulator and i tried the Advanced Training, but the third same Icon sometimes is blocked and I can't hit it sometimes. I assumed that a hidden RNG-Number is preventing me to hit the icon and sometimes it helps to hit the Iconn, but i also assumed that this number is only set every full IG-hour, but clearly you can manipulate the outcome but walking a few steps. What is the trick behind it?
Yeah you are right, the RNG is preventing you from getting the bonus try, however the RNG in this game advances based on actions and not the frame rate so whenever I start a run I have the same RNG seed which I then advance through doing animation changes on my partner Digimon (which is why I'm walking back and forth from my Digimon)
@@RaikouRTA Ahh good to know. I maxed the stats of my digimon while using savestates and i saw that sometimes its impossible to get 3times the same icon and i was wondering how this works. Another question, why do you fail the advanced training sometimes on purpose? Is it to reset some hidden Numbers?
@@93Litze it guarantees that I can hold triangle to frame perfectly open the menu after training cause regular training sometimes cuts the input, plus it moves the RNG 4 times so I can set up the next manipulation easier

Digimon World was so misunderstood at release. It was a genius game but the mechanics were kinda difficult/hidden so reviewers trashed it

The triple success result is actually RNG so there's no way to guarantee you hit it every time unless you manipulate said RNG. Though even if you get the correct RNG result for the training you still have to time it.

I really wanna do a video on Digimon World Speedrunning but it seems like there's a lot to learn and not many places to learn the info ha. But this run is fascinating to watch.
Yeah, there's never been a full tutorial done for these runs and they are almost always routed off-stream, best I can offer is joining the digimon world speedrun discord and asking for any info you need, I'll eventually be making post run commentary for this run also (just being real lazy on it tbh)

Almost a deathless speedrun. Most impressive
He wasn't trying to get deathless, I counted 3 'deaths' (heart loss/faint or ageing) in the run and they were all needed to optimise/complete the run
52:23 why is it different from the little vid and the real vid?? they both run away
It's random chance that they run away and it's not manipulated like most other things in the run, however future runs will manipulate that fight

Yes I strongly recommend Next Order as well. It's almost a better designed version of this game. I'm 74 hours into Next Order and still have yet to beat it. It's very challenging in its own way. Alot less random RNG involved and the best part about the game in my opinion is the fact that you get to choose your tamer bonuses and you collect slight pieces of exact parameter requirements for digimon you could get as you raise them. I played the original for over 5 years straight so it will always have a special place in my soul lol. Every aspect has been ultimately improved, whether it be by a small or large margin, hope you give it a shot.

The original name of the character was analog boy, in case if you dont know it.
Its also printed on the digimon card game (both analog boy, and analog man as a tamer).
You know I spent so much time figuring out evolutions and trying to get as much done as possible when I got everything done I was no where even close to this speed

First thing I want to know if he do a commented speedrun is how he hit so many time in a row the golden poop from bonus training. Normally the bonus try is rigged so you can get the golden poop one time out of 10 (or something like that). It's especially noticeable if you use an emulator and spam save and reload.
This OST brings back so many memories. I’m 31 now, how I wish I could reverse time and enjoy summer vacation in elementary school, trying to figure out how not to evolve into Numemon 🥹. Good times!

How does the Bonus Try training work?
I started playing the Game at Monday again on an Emulator and i tried the Advanced Training, but the third same Icon sometimes is blocked and I can't hit it sometimes.
I assumed that a hidden RNG-Number is preventing me to hit the icon and sometimes it helps to hit the Iconn, but i also assumed that this number is only set every full IG-hour, but clearly you can manipulate the outcome but walking a few steps. What is the trick behind it?
Yeah you are right, the RNG is preventing you from getting the bonus try, however the RNG in this game advances based on actions and not the frame rate so whenever I start a run I have the same RNG seed which I then advance through doing animation changes on my partner Digimon (which is why I'm walking back and forth from my Digimon)
@@RaikouRTA Ahh good to know. I maxed the stats of my digimon while using savestates and i saw that sometimes its impossible to get 3times the same icon and i was wondering how this works.
Another question, why do you fail the advanced training sometimes on purpose? Is it to reset some hidden Numbers?
@@93Litze it guarantees that I can hold triangle to frame perfectly open the menu after training cause regular training sometimes cuts the input, plus it moves the RNG 4 times so I can set up the next manipulation easier
