There is a remake Digimon World Re:Digitize the story is diffrent though but the gameplay and how you raise and train your digimon is just like this one
GarlandFF omg :o I just buyed a PSP on Ebay for a few bucks so I could play SNES and other old games on it and then I saw a comment on RUclips how someone played Digimon World on PSP with the PS1 ISO and I did that too, such a hard and addictive game. Thank you so much, that game looks awesome
When I was a child I was pretty bad and never got a perfect digimon. Later, got some age, I could get perfect digimons, like: metalmamemon, MetalGreymon and others and finally bet the game! Ty for the run.
Fantastic run, I had no idea RNG manipulation was a thing until this. All those crazy precise movements and the same for some of those really tight monster dodges were so cool to see. Every bit looked smooth, and it was exciting to actually get to see toy town for the first time. Congrats on a great run!
I recently finished this game for the first time and honestly it all depends on the fact that you can make your digimon digivolve. And my tip is simple: get a list of digivolutions online and get the necessary stats and try to get the bonus requirements. Often I had the case that an Agumon digivolved into a Tyrannomon instead of Greymon or a betamon digivolve into a Whamon simply because I didn't have that bonus requirement. THe problem with many digivolutions is that they often have the same stats, so that extra unique requirement makes the difference. And for people getting Numemon, it's very simple: get the necessary stat. Just like this guy did. He wanted a Birdramon and he trained speed for that. Don't focus on HP or MP unless you need it for a digivolution. Floppies can help with that.
This was one of my favorite games growing up! But the spanish edition had a bug where you couldn't complete the game lol so I got a rom for the american version and did it like 15 years later. Amazing run!
Awesome speedrun! :) Congratulation for the "100 Prosperity" speedrun in 3 hours! Watched the whole video and I am impressed that you calculated almost everything. :)
If it digivolves into a numemon it means you have a digimon that doesn't fall into any requirements for digivolution and after having played the game again recently I can tell you the requirements are pretty damn stringent. But getting numemon has it's advantages as well as he's the only digimon who can become Monzaemon
I watched this all from beginning to end. Kept laughing whilst watching it because I actually took more than 5 months to reach the end boss...and failed to kill him nonetheless. Huge respect man. Well done!
I loved this game! I wish a new version could be launched with the same standard, but with more Digimon. Soundtracks, story, medals, chips, arenas, the aim, the genealogical tree and possibilities to have Digimons are fantastic! I think it much better than card battle.
Angemon: "Alright guys, everyone just run around in close corridors randomly tripping everyone and hopefully you'll catch the little bastard--- wait, how the hell did any of you except Gururumon, the only vaccine-type, make it in here. Oh well lol."
Dude, I'm amazed by how you did it, you thought about everything, and that must have took like A LOT of effort. I just have two questions: what is the advantage of saving and reseting the game? And second: how did you get the skills in the first try? Like Thunder Justice. Anyway contratulations man. This game was one of the best games I've ever played. I remember I finished it 100% after months playing.
Luiz Felippe Lazzarin Sorry for the late response, I thought I answered you :( Your two questions can actually be answered at the same time: Saving and resetting let's me reset the Random Number Generator, which is essentially the "luck" in the game. After the game is restarted, this "luck" will always start on the same spot, which lets me manipulate it to give me moves I want to learn, for example by pressing battle commands in a certain order. These manipulations are figured out before the actual run happens.
gotta love this speed run :3 one of my favourites from childhood, yet i've still never completed it (that's my next project i guess). im surprised that somebody actually does speedruns of this game since its combat and some other elements are so luck-based. even more repect for you for teaching how to control certain rng-elements :)
Awesome, man. I just spent a (very long) night watching this and your other "beat the game" speedrun, and I've gotta say that I'm impressed. This was one of my all-time favourite games growing up, and I used to think that I was pretty boss for once recruiting every Digimon to the city (except for Monzaemon & Nanimon) with my very first Digimon. Then I stumble upon this and my childhood pride is shattered. XD Just a few questions about this run, though. I noticed that you were abusing the save function at times during this one, but you didn't ultilise that to your advantage anywhere NEAR as much as you could have done. Why is that? I mean, what with the time you lost on certain early segments (plus that disastrous fishing episode near the end), you could have possibly been looking at 3:20 or less if you'd abused the saving function to it's limit ... heck, the fishing alone cost you two or three minutes, right? Was there some kind of set limit for how often you could save during this challenge or something? Just wondering.
Thanks a lot for the kind words and sorry for shattering your childhood-pride :D As for your question: Save-manipulation really isn't that convenient. Since this is not a segmented run, the timer keeps running, so it's not like I can just happily reload as much as I want and try for the perfect outcome, because each reload takes roughly 50 seconds. The point of the whole procedure is to reset the RNG (essentially the "luck") to 0, so it's possible for me to control it by inputting certain actions, which then allows me to, 100% of the time, learn a move I want, for example. I figured these patterns out before I started doing the actual runs. Another thing to keep in mind is, that saving is really limited in Digimon World: You can only save in Jijimon's home or after sleeping "in the open". Generally, you want to save as close as possible to were the actual manipulation happens, because the more you move around, trigger loading screens, walk past NPCs who also influence the RNG, the originally planned "RNG-pattern" get's harder and harder to hit. There's always a slight risk of failing in that situation (in this run, the Monochromon- or Piximon-manipulations would be a good example of "risky manipulations"), and if that happens, the run is essentially over due to the timeloss. The fishing-part at the end of the run usually takes no longer than 40 seconds, i just got REALLY unlucky :( Planning a manipulation for that (which would be really hard to do in the first place, because of all the fish moving around in the water, which affect the RNG) is really not worth it :)
Ah, I see. Well, that makes a lot more sense. For some reason (I'm blaming tiredness) I didn't cotton on to the fact that the timer was still running during your various resets when I first watched this. That certainly would negate any potential gain you could achieve by saving and then trying to manipulate the circumstances to be more in your favour. And yeah, while I haven't exactly studied the specifics, I've known for a very long time that the RNG in this game can be very easily "fixed" if you know how to go about doing it. I think I first realised this while trying to learn Techniques from certain one-off battles back in the day (sleeping and saving just before hand, etc.), and I noticed that when I walked to the battle in the exact same fashion each time, the battle would turn out to be completely identical to all the ones I'd had in the past while entering into it that way, which I knew couldn't just be a coincidence. Then I started deliberately mixing it up by walking in slightly different directions each time (or exiting and re-entering the screen) and found that the results were much more productive, which was kind of a cool thing for my younger self to discover at the time, hehe. Still, that was an INSANELY complex bit of manipulation that you used for Etemon to learn Thunderbolt (that's what it's called in the PAL version that I own). Now, memorising that exact string of events is impressive enough on it's own, but ... I'm more curious about how you even came about TESTING such a strategy. Was it literally just hours upon hours of tedious trial and error? Because that must have been ... painful to sit through.
Soon18 "Was it literally just hours upon hours of tedious trial and error?" - Pretty much :D It's honestly not as painful as you'd think it is. First of all, looking for a manipulation and actually finding something that is quick and rather easy to do in an actual run is really satisfying. The process itself is rather dull, but it also doesn't require a lot of attention, since I'm recording everything. So I'll basically be resetting my PS2 over and over again, looking at the screen occasionally while also doing something else. I'll keep varying the inputs, trying the easiest stuff first and If I don't get the desired outcome, inputs need to be added - I'm admitting the Etemon move-manipulation got a little out of hand :P But yeah, as soon as I get the correct outcome, I'm going to the recording, try to replicate it, write it down, practice it a few times etc. After that, it's usually stuck in my brain and muscle memory.
Yeah, I'm sitting here right now trying to imagine just how many failed attempts you must have had to sit through in order to end up with ... that. Haha! I mean, you've gotta admit that it's a pretty extensive (and pretty random) chain of events. It surely must have taken close to a hundred tries (or more) to get to something that lengthy and complex, right?
Soon18 I don't remember how many attempts it took, but that one was by far the manipulation that gave me the most trouble. I do remember the recording of the resets being several hours long, so yeah... :P
This has got to be one of the most underrated PSX games ever, what happened after this game ? why did they change the formula so much for 2 and 3 ? And why all these rumble arena poor man's version of smash bros :( ?
Awww... that petting in the end before finishing it XD Too bad you dont also have a playthrough of 2003. I would also love to see that one. Anyways it was a great run!
How does the item moving / RNG manipulation trick work exactly ??? Because it just looks like he's doing random stuff how can he know what to do exactly and when. ?
I remember I was so obsessed with game back then like 14-15 years ago and it took me many months to clear it and get 100 Prosperity. All thanks to my Megaseadramon.
Tenk Kommander Ha ha, I know right? I didn't have Thunder Justice at the time I got the Monzaemon (Teddy Bear), the best move I had was Megalo Spark and that thing pretty much wreck everything. XD
just let you guys know I fought a metal Etemon at the tree house after Etemon comes to the city I think they even let you go inside when you beat him but its been a long time so I don't remember I had the boot leg and the authentic version so I don't know if it was an extra boss but for real try and go there often to knock on the door
Is this game worthy as a full RPG? I remember playing it when I was a child but never understood the mechanics and finally dropped it :( maybe will give it a second opportunity someday.
wish bandai would like to remake this game (not like re:digitize) with contents like these - mega level digimon - secret digimon for evolution : raremon, apemon, pteramon, black king numemon, waru monzaemon, armormon, grapleomon, triceramon, ex tyranomon, garbagemon, puppetmon, piedmon, raijinmon - explorable area (deep sea, dark area, wasteland etc) - 200/300 prosperities point (rookie counted as 1, champion 2, ultimate 3, mega 4)
So how many resets did you do to get a good kunemon fight? I know for a fact if kunemon paralyses you it's all over and when he uses his special attack. Did monochromon ever made you reset at times? Nice run man. Also you should do digimon world 2 next. There is a guy who has done it and it took him 36 hours. That's nothing to big right =)
Thanks a lot :) Resetting the game resets the RNG or "luck" of the game. Which lets me manipulate certain random events of the run, for example learning of techniques. The purpose of the re-load inside the mansion was to have Etemon learn Thunder Justice from the Soulmon inside the room with the fridge. If you're talking about the one earlier in the run in the cemetery of the mansion, that one was used to learn Spinning Shot from Tsukaimon.
Considered yes, but it would not be fun at all. I'd probably fall asleep during the "all Digimon"- and Tournament-medals. Not to mention the perfect curling-match... :p
with timelapses and enough cutting that could be a thing, but as "speed"run this game has already too much luck-based elements, especially on combat side (and monochromon's shop, who the hell thought that was a good idea...)
+Stephen Kurniawan He used DV chips that raise stats by a huge amount, but also reduce the Digimon's lifespan. Basically, he straight up murdered Etemon.
Hey :) I am trying to start running this game and did you use any RNG manipulaton on this run? I did see that the first place uses RNG manipulation that would be too hard for me to start into the game, so I was wondering if yours uses some aswell. I'm just trying to collect some info for now, but any information will be aprecciated o/
The current run uses a lot of RNG manipulation. You can check out the current record run here: ruclips.net/video/ufo9JZMdQZU/видео.html Some people still do legacy runs without it though, just using Birdramon like here, so that may be easier to get into.
i saw your run non stop... god this game is nostalgic. have so many questions :X but the one that intrigues me the most is the Dev Chips... what are they?
Devi Chips raise two of your Digimon's stats by 100 (Off, Def, Speed, Brns) or 1000 (HP, MP), but at the same time lower the lifespan by 24 hours each. Since i need to kill my Etemon to get a Monzaemon, I'm using them to shorten it's lifespan until it dies. I'm then using them again on Monzaemon, just to boost it's stats for the final battle of the run :D
Your Digimon basically hated you though lol, I guess that's what happens when you neglect them. I know this is a speedrun, just noticed that you really do have to pay attention to them to keep them happy rather than it happening basically automatically xD I guess I never realized how much attention I must have paid to mine back when I played this around 7-8 years ago.
MetalGearRexPilot You might have already seen it, but just in case you haven't: I did audio-commentary on my any% run of this game ruclips.net/video/eyAJmTw7Aoc/видео.html
There is no Nanimon-RNG :D He appears in Dino Region after you recruit Tyrannomon, in Factorial Town after recruiting Giromon, in Leomon's Cave after recruiting Leomon, in Ogre Fortress after recruiting Ogremon (or beating Ogremon in the Secret Beach Cave already, not 100% sure about this one) and in Toy Town after recruiting Monzaemon. After you talk to him in all five spots, he will join the city :)

I always reckoned Dijimon was a borrowed idea from pokemon when I first heard about it
How does the item moving / RNG manipulation trick work exactly ??? Because it just looks like he's doing random stuff how can he know what to do exactly and when. ?
How can he obtain Birdramon with so much shit. Not Numemon, not Sukamon. It's the most impressive thing in this run. What am I missing?
+DDDD DDDD I got Birdramon because I met its Digivolution requirements. 15 - 25 Weight, 3-4 Care Mistakes (Poop, for example) and 100+ Speed.

+sparsie115 I never analyzed the game in-depth, I thought that care mistakes only lead to Numemon. thanks for answering me :)
+DDDD DDDD i got meramon. lol
+DDDD DDDD You should if you really liked the game, is so more complex when you understand the digivolution mechanics
Cool I didn't know they did speedruns of this game :DD
Great Speedrun. I want a birdramon with Agumon too, but never got one. Always turn into Centarumon/Tyranomon/Meramon.
Make sure you have more than 100 Speed, between 15 and 25 weight and 3 or 4 Care Mistakes. That'll get you Birdramon 100% of the time :)
I remember I was so obsessed with game back then like 14-15 years ago and it took me many months to clear it and get 100 Prosperity. All thanks to my Megaseadramon.
+Yukari MAiG Your Megaseadramon got nothing on my Megadramon ;D I sound just like the kid on the intro of this game.
Tenk Kommander Whatever you say. I'm just proud of my MSD and that's good enough for me. :)
Yukari MAiG Well getting a ultimate is something to be proud about unless it's that teddy bear.... easy win with that guy.
Tenk Kommander Ha ha, I know right? I didn't have Thunder Justice at the time I got the Monzaemon (Teddy Bear), the best move I had was Megalo Spark and that thing pretty much wreck everything. XD
Yukari MAiG I got thunder justice by the ghost in the greylord masnion.guess they are the bakemon with hats. But megalo spark is op.
Good run!
wow that ending praise
Fucking awesome run. i have not finished the game yet. its really hard
the reason for that youre digimon dies is that you can get other digimon
yeah it should be exacly like that, maybe its a gameshark cheat that can do that youre digimon cant die
+Falcon Helmet meh that would be too easy and run the game imo.
+Falcon Helmet Does Fire Emblem count? I suppose that's based on more skill than time.
***** In fire emblem a dead char is dead.
Also i would rather compare this game with rouge like games.
bgm...I cried.. I miss my childwood.
why did you reenter the shop so many times ad 2:30:00? did you wanted to get Monochromon for some reason?
+Gea Force Yeah, Monochromon sells Protections, so I wanted to talk to him.
sweet run man
I'm currently on my 20hr to make the 3hr completion time like these guys..... it's 2023 and im having a hard time hahaha
Okay i wanna play this game now. Thank you phone emulators
just let you guys know I fought a metal Etemon at the tree house after Etemon comes to the city I think they even let you go inside when you beat him but its been a long time so I don't remember I had the boot leg and the authentic version so I don't know if it was an extra boss but for real try and go there often to knock on the door
I always thought this game was super fun but I always ended up getting stuck ha
Watching this in 2019..
..btw what does RNG stands for?
Nice Vid it brings me nostalgia
i got whamon yesterday......i dont know anything about him at all xD
I remember I didn't know how to finish this game, I think I got stuck at that demon area and my Digimon kept dying lol
Is this game worthy as a full RPG? I remember playing it when I was a child but never understood the mechanics and finally dropped it :( maybe will give it a second opportunity someday.
Yes it is. It's actually pretty fun once you know what you are doing.
Hey sparsie awesome run :) do you think you could make a tutorial video or videos about running this game because I am really intrested In running it.
Just watch one of his previous runs and take note of what he does.
The videos are a tutorial, because he's showing you everything first hand.
Metalmamemon speaking, Lable says Metalgreymon??
Really nice man, what's the point of moving the items during the battle?
wish bandai would like to remake this game (not like re:digitize) with contents like these
- mega level digimon
- secret digimon for evolution : raremon, apemon, pteramon, black king numemon, waru monzaemon, armormon, grapleomon, triceramon, ex tyranomon, garbagemon, puppetmon, piedmon, raijinmon
- explorable area (deep sea, dark area, wasteland etc)
- 200/300 prosperities point (rookie counted as 1, champion 2, ultimate 3, mega 4)
Wish there was commentary on this one!
Step by step, i do the same crap for 3 runs in a row. Numemon 3x. Fml
OK now i will report you
Big Brody Shooo troll, shooo
I dont get how you got through to Tyranomon without bumping into Centarumon first
Did he capture Seadramon with the old fishing rod and a normal meat as bait? 😯
Never understood the dv chips
I quit the game because I kept getting that poop digimon even when I took great care of it like feed it, gym, and pooping at toilets properly -.-
Probably you don't train enough, I was reluctant to train them much at first, getting numemon a lot haha
if your digimon doesnt get any digivolve requirement for evolving.. they will always ended up sukamon or nunemon...
That's nothing to big right =)
Fucking Monochromon shop. Though at least I got some good bits out of it.
Etemon poops a thunder, GG!
you are my hero
Sparsie dude, I'm digging the speedruns. Quick question, when you go to mansion, what was the save/reset for?
Thanks a lot :) Resetting the game resets the RNG or "luck" of the game. Which lets me manipulate certain random events of the run, for example learning of techniques. The purpose of the re-load inside the mansion was to have Etemon learn Thunder Justice from the Soulmon inside the room with the fridge. If you're talking about the one earlier in the run in the cemetery of the mansion, that one was used to learn Spinning Shot from Tsukaimon.
Thanks for the reply man! Im excited to see what you'll do next
has anyone considered doing a 100% run?
Considered yes, but it would not be fun at all. I'd probably fall asleep during the "all Digimon"- and Tournament-medals. Not to mention the perfect curling-match... :p
im going to guess the run would be at least 6 hours long
taitaylor86 lol all digimon in 6 hours? cute =P probably 20 hours. hahha
its was an uneducated guess
with timelapses and enough cutting that could be a thing, but as "speed"run this game has already too much luck-based elements, especially on combat side (and monochromon's shop, who the hell thought that was a good idea...)
why did you give a lot of chip before the monkey died?
+Stephen Kurniawan He used DV chips that raise stats by a huge amount, but also reduce the Digimon's lifespan. Basically, he straight up murdered Etemon.
before your digimon dies, certain percentage of it's base stats before it dies gets transfer to the next digimon you will be raising
@@CopyniumPastenium so basically, the longer you play, the stronger it gets.
You can check out the current record run here: ruclips.net/video/ufo9JZMdQZU/видео.html
Some people still do legacy runs without it though, just using Birdramon like here, so that may be easier to get into.
How can u double your backpack size in 40 min?
i saw your run non stop... god this game is nostalgic. have so many questions :X but the one that intrigues me the most is the Dev Chips... what are they?
Devi Chips raise two of your Digimon's stats by 100 (Off, Def, Speed, Brns) or 1000 (HP, MP), but at the same time lower the lifespan by 24 hours each. Since i need to kill my Etemon to get a Monzaemon, I'm using them to shorten it's lifespan until it dies. I'm then using them again on Monzaemon, just to boost it's stats for the final battle of the run :D
sparsie115 thanks for the quick answer, can't wait to take my ps1 out of retirement and try your strats
Your Digimon basically hated you though lol, I guess that's what happens when you neglect them. I know this is a speedrun, just noticed that you really do have to pay attention to them to keep them happy rather than it happening basically automatically xD I guess I never realized how much attention I must have paid to mine back when I played this around 7-8 years ago.
very nice run, watched the other one (the any% WR i believe it was) and both rocked, any chance of a commentery of this run?
Probably not on this one, but there's a good chance I will beat this time in the near future, and that run will definitely have commentary :P
sparsie115 awesome, can't wait for it, good luck and may lady RNG have mercy on you.
sparsie115 I look forward to that. I love to hear commentary on games like this. I wish this series got more of the love it rightfully deserves.
MetalGearRexPilot You might have already seen it, but just in case you haven't: I did audio-commentary on my any% run of this game ruclips.net/video/eyAJmTw7Aoc/видео.html
sparsie115 Already watched it end to end :P
okey el juego da un poco de miedo pero 666 like madre mía , pero esto era mi infancia (:
Monkey overdose
Dislike por el maltrato y sobre explotacion a los monstruos digitales
Can you explain Nanimon rng in detail please? This was one of the only Digimon I failed to recruit as a child.
After you talk to him in all five spots, he will join the city :)
i cannot meet machinedramon, in that last boss digitamamon there, any advice?
