Hey everyone! Apologies for having to break the Run into 2 Parts. That was the only way I could get it online as soon as I could 😓. I've kept the run as honest as possible, so there will probably be plenty of inefficient gameplay (I am no expert when it comes to this game 😅). But I do hope you enjoy the video. I tried my best! Part 2 will be up this Sunday! :D Thank you for your support and have a great day!
Relax, bro. Btw, isn't Bonus Try the best way to train the Digimon? 🤔 It's been some time but i have the feeling that it can grant more points if used correctly. Maybe it can speed up some things for you. ✌
@@Frg31 you're thinking of the later games. in the og digimon world, you have to deal with a slot machine that half the time is _literally rigged_ to not give you any result but 50% stat gain. there _is_ a result that'll give you x10 the normal stats ... but the slots are also rigged to make it straight-up impossible to get on 90% of tries, so it doesn't actually result in any better stats unless you're lucky enough to get it more than once every ten pulls in theory, you could always aim for the symbol matching the training area for the x4 stat gains and that'll gain you more stats than you're losing from the guaranteed halved stat gains on every other try ... but realistically, your training sessions aren't long enough to normalize the effects of rng, so the theoretical x2.25 stat gains you'd get over a 100 bonus tries are gonna look more like getting 4 forced fails and a single success only worth twice the value of normal training
About learning new techniques in this game: the statement made about the Digimon you're fighting does not actually matter -- it's your Digimon's specialty that determines the chances of it learning a new move or not. Take using Greymon or Airdramon to learn megalo spark: the technique is air specialty, and although both the Digimon I named are able to learn and use it, air is Airdramon's dominant specialty -- in other words, it's the specialty that most of his techniques are -- which gives him a higher chance to learn the move; Greymon, on the other hand, has a considerably lower chance to learn the move, since his dominant specialty is fire, not air. With that in mind, every Digimon has a certain percentage to learn each of their moves, although these percentages do appear to be reduced the higher the base damage output the move has, and in certain cases (such as learning buster dive with MetalGreymon, for example) your Digimon is unable to learn the move AT ALL -- though they can still use it if it was acquired before digivolving to that form. As for brains training, it's the same way, except that the chances to get a certain move are lower than they would be to learn the same technique by fighting other Digimon that can use it. In either case, though, the percentages for learning each move are consistent depending on what specialty your Digimon's main/dominant one is -- in other words, any 2 Digimon whose dominant specialty is ice will have the same chances to learn the move giga freeze as each other. But there is no such thing as a certain specialty having an easier or harder time learning new moves, at least as far as rng is concerned. On one last side note: it appears that if you're trying to use brains training to learn new moves, they are apparently unlocked in a certain order, meaning thst the only rng is rather your Digimon will actually learn the next move in that specialty's list once they hit the designated brains stat benchmark or not. Hope this helps!
I like reading comments like these, I've seen a few speedruns of this game and glitchless is actually pretty fast normal percent and theres some different routes lol
Brains training is the most viable way to learn Trash moves, as you really wouldn't want to grind in Factory Town with a Numemon, Sukamon, or Nanimon, and there are usually better things to do with an Etemon.
I wish child me had known that you can avoid the Greymon fight by not talking to Jijimon. I would hit that wall so hard and then assume you were locked in to the fight and would restart my save over and over trying to get past him. Love seeing classic Digimon World videos, can’t wait for Part 2!

28:20 that's because you had "your call" instead of "attack". so the ai is much more passive. i think its always a good idea to raise int to 100. since you can learn stuff after hitting 150, you can even go for 150 with each new numemon for that rng chance.

So... I got the Digimon knowledge I needed 20 years ago by clicking on this video today.. I had a save with a dying Tyrannomon in a place somewhere far from town, which then died some times after waking up. Greymon killed my baby digimon to the point the baby gave birth to another baby, which then got killed again by Greymon. The baby never even had a chance to train. I loaded my game with Tyrannomon and desperately tried to get to Jijimon's house to fight Greymon with him, but Tyrannomon always died on the way. I felt like I was forced to restart a new playthrough, which then led me to stop entirely because I lost a lot of progress and didn't enjoy the new playthrough. Today I learned that Greymon won't come if I never talk to Jijimon (guess I always talked to him in panic and confusion)
30:30 the solution to Amida forest is to always take the first path you can on every opportunity, like that asian game Amidakuji, or ghost ladder. My god Amida...kuji forest, i feel enlightened.
@@CrystalPapa yeah, you have to guess, which path leads to the O. Centarumon will only shoot at you, if you "cheat" by trying to go straight, and off your chosen path. reaching an X sends you back to the start without penalty IIRC.

I really love videos like this, glad to see I'm not the only one obsessed with Digimon World. Your sense of humor is fantastic, you provide lots of useful info, and they are pretty entertaining. I wish I had learned of your channel sooner, long live the legacy of McLean and Dookie!
I wouldn't call any Digimon a loser. In hacker's memory I was breezing in online with a team of 3 Plat numemons. 1 specialist on attacking one on dot and one on status ailments I had some META Digimon as well but the 3 pkat numenons were destroying everything. In World 1 I managed to build a very strong sukamon interrupting every opponent move and poisoning every time with poop toss. And the high stun of odor spray. Content in this channel is pretty awesome! I would love to see countless Digimon games runs. Even the new ones.
@kumori9940 all their stats are champion level in that game. Except defense which is really high. But their long survivability with a bit of strategy can turn them into a very viable force. At first I had max them because of the exp bonus they provide in the team. But then I thought let's make them for pvp just for the lolz. And I was surprised how annoying they were once it was my turn to play
20:53 - That music selection is awesome. It fits the scene so well, especially when remembering how that felt for the first time as a kid. Your companion dies and you are left completely alone with that. I'm not expecting to get that feeling again in a game in the future. Digimon World 1 will always have a very special place in my heart even though I've played through it and never managed to an ultra level besides of that suit one. Guess it was Monzaemon.
I like the idea that mclean the 2nd spends 13-15 years just watching a chalckboard and then dies. Hes like an obsessed professor in an eldritch horror novel.
This is amazing and I take my hat off to you for your patience! I can't wait for part 2. I can't tell you how much this made me smile. I'm going through a rough time, and this is my favourite game of all time, it really brightened my day. I can't wait for part 2! Thanks man!
I love the video and can't wait for the next one, but I didn't expect to hear such great music choices including from courage the cowardly dog at the end. Huge bonus.
Let's go! I totally agree, It's a good game but sadly not for everyone, the fact of you need time for make a good Digimon (or become Numemon 😆) and after few hours he die and start over again it's not the best thing for the most people, sure was annoying even for me at first, but after I understand how the system work and how you should training the Digimon + some recruitments in the City even if your Digimon die he became more easily to achieve Ultimate level Digimon and more enjoyable to try some new types of Digimon, like the Bugs line (this game and Digimon Master it's the reason I have a soft spot for Kunemon) For me, the game is not a masterpiece, but I certainly would not call it a bad game either. You just have to take some time to understand how it works and to enjoy this little raw diamond.
its funny, i still think digimon world 1 is one of the most interesting games ever made. its very unique, and in many ways its basically a proto-rogue-lite, since you have limited time with your digimon, BUT, you are always progressing the story foward, so even when you end up with a wasted digimon, who isnt able to do anything to help you get better, outside of some very minor effects, you are almost never feel like you are going backwards. as even a weak digimon can still be used to grind items. and money for a better "run" later. yeah, it got a sequel, but i still think this version is probably one of the best games in the franchise. i just wish we got a "remaster" version. all they needed to add was more digimon, and make variants like black agumon or black patamon, into basically the shiny version with 1 in 10 chance or something similar.
Even better, theres a bug with it where if you have a specific version of Tanemon(i believe its defense or offense as highest stats), they won't be able to evolve and you can max the upgrade in one go Child Torture best
In Vanilla Digimon World, in addition to what the others have already said, there's a bug regarding Brains and MP training, where if you train Brains ten times, it counts the baby upgrade for both Brains and MP. Conversely, if you try to Baby upgrade MP by itself, it will never unlock. Digimon World is truly spaghetti code. That's why, when I play it now, I play it patched with a mod to fix all the myriad broken bugs, and it's so fun.
@@streetguru9350 Digimon Vice Version, a mod that fixes a bunch of game breaking glitches, bugs, and such. It fixes the infamous Jukebox Freeze, among hundreds of other things. It also adds cut Digimon as extra Digivolutions, and a couple extra zones. There's also extra optional patches that can adjust difficulty however you like.
This video takes me so back in time! Like when I've first played this game and didn't knew anything about it and let my digimon sh*t itself and become a numemon. I still have PTSD about that!
I kinda wanna comment stuff for the game but, the only thig I'll say is that Amida Forest is based on a Japanese "thing" called Amidakuji! Wikipedia: ""Ghost leg" is a method of lottery designed to create random pairings between two sets of any number of things, as long as the number of elements in each set is the same. This is often used to distribute things among people, where the number of things distributed is the same as the number of people". Once you understand amidakuji, you can solve the puzzle easily as well! Take care and this video is really enjoyable!!! When I was a kid I always got Numemon and I trained the brain stat as well, I got a pretty OP attack once (a kind of improved party time).
A few tips for a "pure" challenge run where you don't fight any battles as anything other than Numemon: 1. It's actually possible to avoid the Agumon at the start if you manage to path well enough. Not easy by any means, but possible, so you can try it for a "pure" challenge run. 2. Coelamon can be gotten by day 2 of the game if you know how (he appears in the evening, so go meet him late on day 1, sleep in the Tropical Jungle, and then go right back to recruit him when you wake up). He (and Betamon too, who can also be recruited on the same day basically) will open the initial shop, which sells meat at an extremely cheap 50 bits. This will basically make food a complete non-issue starting out, thus removing the need to try to recruit Palmon early (a good thing too, since I remember having a harder time fighting her with a newly digivolved Numemon than with the rookie starter). Hope these help.
Oh hey! I was one of the people who told you about how to pronounce Coelamon! :D Don't worry about getting it wrong, it took me a while to figure out how it was pronounced too. It took me until I figured out what it was based on to pronounce it differently. :3
if there's one thing i learned playing this game, it's to NOT underestimate that Kunemon, the thing will always get the tiniest arena ever because of camera position and it attacks FAST! from my experience, Drimogemon is usually easier than this guy even tho his stats are better
This just randomly showed up on my timeline and god damn the nostalgia hit from seeing digimon world 1 was insane. I remember being a kid and always getting Numemons and never getting anywhere in the game, not really knowing English or knowing how to look up guides 😂 it was the age of literal trial and error
My guy you actually did it! A journey through the roughest caring simulator with the worst monster ingame! But maaaaan its good to know even Numemon... Ahem McClean can learn other uh... Crappy moves for his moveset! Here I thought you were gonna go ahead and kick everyone to death with his starting move! Though I am curious if you will take down Greymon and Birdramon! If its a struggle with them... I cannot imagine McClean defeating Machinedramon! Maybe with items... But with none? YOU MUST DO IT MAN!!!! Waiting for part 2! Also... Nanimon and Sukamon challenge next please? With extra suffering wahahahaha!
A tip for if you do any similar challenges in the future: many random ground spawns are determined when entering a screen, not by day. You seem to have figured this out, but I'd like to note that you can often find mushrooms on the first two screens of native forest right after leaving the city (one of the places on the first screen is near the bottom-right, so don't forget to look there). If you go back and forth checking these two screens, you can stockpile mushrooms - it's not much of a trick because they're basically equivalent to tiny meat, but you can farm them this way to avoid having to go hungry too often in the earlygame, or to hold off on Palmon a bit longer while getting the right partner.
@@CrystalPapa oh yeah, im here for the journey my guy . I guessed 8 numemon in the post you put the other day, after watching this i think i may have underestimated how crappy of a digimon he is 🥁 If you can manage to do a die hard style montage with John McClean here that would just be the bees knees.
Man, Digimon World's particular flavour of jank gives it such a particular charm that I can't help but love it more than the polish of something like Next Order.
I know the answer is yes because as a child I had *NO* clue how to properly digivolve in this game. So I wound up with Numemon more often than I didn't (or Sukamon), I could probably count on my hands the number of times I didn't (keep in mind, I was seven). Yet I somehow beat this game. I'm sure it was horrible, but I did it. I will now watch this video to relive my youth.

Man, this brings me back. We had this game back when I was a kid. My best friend did. Thing is though... We didn't really speak/read English at the time, so we had NO idea what we were doing. Just kinda mucked about until we stopped. Then repeat some time later... Now I kinda want to give this game a try, and see how it is...
minute 23:43 is the answer for the question "Can You Beat Digimon World 1 With Only Numemon?"... tech "Poop Spd Toss" via Brain train for easier numemon... that tech has 'poison' effect and the second tech that can get via braintrain.. no matter how awful the stat, HP reduce from the poison effect is still the same cause it depend of the enemy's HP...
Man i'm really enjoying your videos, you really made me enjoy the game again and I started another save with vice04's patches, is there any chance we may see you play a modded save eventually?

I really love videos like this, glad to see I'm not the only one obsessed with Digimon World. Your sense of humor is fantastic, you provide lots of useful info, and they are pretty entertaining. I wish I had learned of your channel sooner, long live the legacy of McLean and Dookie!
Thank your for all your kind words, Blueman! 😇
Amazing video, man.
Thank you, Robsonfujiii! :D
I am glad you enjoyed the video! ☺️
Plat numemon have a better stat and higher tier.
Mega tier if not wrong.....
So it ways better than original nunemon
I walked in my mum and her BF having sex because I was scared of what my digimon turned into
This game speaks to my childhood and your videos are a really cool window to the past, plus the challenge is very interesting, love your work
Thank you for your kind words, Megasus! They're greatly appreciated! :D
Waiting for Digimon 3 video! Thanks for uploading those digimon 1 and 2 video series! Love it
I like the idea that mclean the 2nd spends 13-15 years just watching a chalckboard and then dies. Hes like an obsessed professor in an eldritch horror novel.
Excellent video! Great editing and commentary!
Thank you for your kind words, Foxywaterable!
They're much appreciated! ☺️
This is amazing and I take my hat off to you for your patience! I can't wait for part 2.
I can't tell you how much this made me smile. I'm going through a rough time, and this is my favourite game of all time, it really brightened my day. I can't wait for part 2! Thanks man!
Thank you for your kind words, friend!
I really hope the rough times go away for you, and get replaced by a lot of good times!
Stay strong!
@@CrystalPapa Thank you so much!
I was laughing all the time from your commentaries had a great time I am subscribing rn
Thank you for your kind words and support, Jona!
I am glad you enjoyed the commentary! :D
Yes. digimon world 1 content
3 minutes in: "Can you beat Digimon World with only Numemon?"
Me: "Yea!"
Genuinely the most I've been invested in a digimon run since I watched a blind playthrough on twitch. Excellent video dude. Long live mclean
Mclean III succumbing to his age immediately after he finally bested Meramon was peak fiction.
This is a challenge for few! looking forward to the next episode.
I love the video and can't wait for the next one, but I didn't expect to hear such great music choices including from courage the cowardly dog at the end. Huge bonus.
I am glad you enjoyed the video, Jake!
Hopefully you'll like part 2, as well! :D
Let's go!
I totally agree, It's a good game but sadly not for everyone, the fact of you need time for make a good Digimon (or become Numemon 😆) and after few hours he die and start over again it's not the best thing for the most people, sure was annoying even for me at first, but after I understand how the system work and how you should training the Digimon + some recruitments in the City even if your Digimon die he became more easily to achieve Ultimate level Digimon and more enjoyable to try some new types of Digimon, like the Bugs line (this game and Digimon Master it's the reason I have a soft spot for Kunemon)
For me, the game is not a masterpiece, but I certainly would not call it a bad game either. You just have to take some time to understand how it works and to enjoy this little raw diamond.
Love your intro and I totally agree! Great video. 🤓
its funny, i still think digimon world 1 is one of the most interesting games ever made. its very unique, and in many ways its basically a proto-rogue-lite, since you have limited time with your digimon, BUT, you are always progressing the story foward, so even when you end up with a wasted digimon, who isnt able to do anything to help you get better, outside of some very minor effects, you are almost never feel like you are going backwards. as even a weak digimon can still be used to grind items. and money for a better "run" later.
yeah, it got a sequel, but i still think this version is probably one of the best games in the franchise. i just wish we got a "remaster" version. all they needed to add was more digimon, and make variants like black agumon or black patamon, into basically the shiny version with 1 in 10 chance or something similar.
I did it with the added twist of banning training and items in battle, it was an obnoxious grind but I had fun doing it regardless. Congratz!
Wait, training gets upgraded if you train baby digimon at it? Never knew that after so many years of playing this game.
Even better, theres a bug with it where if you have a specific version of Tanemon(i believe its defense or offense as highest stats), they won't be able to evolve and you can max the upgrade in one go
Child Torture best
only learned about that a few days ago, its crazy how many hidden mechanics there are in this game
@@Chris-re3lv Wait, what mod?
@@streetguru9350 Digimon Vice Version, a mod that fixes a bunch of game breaking glitches, bugs, and such. It fixes the infamous Jukebox Freeze, among hundreds of other things. It also adds cut Digimon as extra Digivolutions, and a couple extra zones. There's also extra optional patches that can adjust difficulty however you like.
Recently found your channel, loving it so far. DW1 needs more love in the world
Really entertaining run to watch. Cant wait for part 2!
I don't even playa digimon games, but i addicted to the chanel keep it up
I am glad you're enjoying the content, friend! 😇
I didn't know about the Amidakuji thing! Thank you for letting me know, Naxafa! :D
@@CrystalPapa My pleasure! As you said, it's better to play this game without knowing so much about it! Keep it natural!:)
This is just the nostalgia playthrough I need. Thank you!
This Numemon is giving me Subaru vibes. 😂
Hype for part 2.
I love this game! Thank you for the cool vid, looking forward to part 2
Awesome video! Keep up the Digimon content.
Thank you, Chriss! :D
Alright this was fun! Excited for the next part!
Great video man! Thanks for sharing.
Loving this! I never even played these games 😂 you’re such a great story teller
A few tips for a "pure" challenge run where you don't fight any battles as anything other than Numemon:
I’m very pleased this game is slowly coming back this was my childhood still have my copy
glad youre growing!
Thank you, Sosa! 😇
Oh hey! I was one of the people who told you about how to pronounce Coelamon! :D Don't worry about getting it wrong, it took me a while to figure out how it was pronounced too. It took me until I figured out what it was based on to pronounce it differently. :3
Omg I only recently found your channel and was just hoping you meant it when you said you’d do this challenge 😂 Awesome work!
Great to have you here, friend!
I am glad that you're enjoying the content! 😊
if there's one thing i learned playing this game, it's to NOT underestimate that Kunemon, the thing will always get the tiniest arena ever because of camera position and it attacks FAST! from my experience, Drimogemon is usually easier than this guy even tho his stats are better
This was absolute cinema! Pumped for part 2 😁
Passing the Monochromon shop on the third attempt is somehow more impressive than beating the game with Numemon 😆
love this channel's digimon world videos
i wasnt expecting wild arms to be a major part of the soundtack. good taste
Keep going great content!
Thank you for your kind words, ZeroZeru! :D
Love the way you narrated the part with the drimogemon battle 😂😂😂
I stopped everything i was doing as soon as i saw this on my feed, been waiting for this one.
I do hope you enjoyed the video, and that it was at least kinda worth the wait 😅.
@@CrystalPapa oh yeah, im here for the journey my guy . I guessed 8 numemon in the post you put the other day, after watching this i think i may have underestimated how crappy of a digimon he is 🥁
If you can manage to do a die hard style montage with John McClean here that would just be the bees knees.
Thanks for the vid! You work fast!
Damn, I never thought I could get so invested in a Numemon run 😂
that 4 seconds of silent hill audio was enough to have me hooked
This was good stuff. I learned a lot from it for gaming production. Thanks for your help.
As someone who has just picked this game up for the first time...
Lol I can't wait to come back to this video after
This truly is one of the greatest playthroughs of all time
Thanks for sharing this vids with us
You are most welcome, friend! 😊
Man, Digimon World's particular flavour of jank gives it such a particular charm that I can't help but love it more than the polish of something like Next Order.
Cool, when you talked about it last video I was really hipe to see it
Awesome video man!
I can finally fulfill my childhood promise to beat this game! Cuz all I could ever get was numemon. (Assuming you pulled it off)
I remember being so excited as a kid when my Egg finally turned into a Patamon... and then it evolved into a Numemon
Amazing video! MORE!
Thank you, stormjab! More coming soon! :D
I play the trading card game and we JUST came out of a 6-8 month Numemon meta 🎉
Oh I've always been intrigued by the card game, but have never had the chance to actually play it.
Good to know our little green friend had his day in the sun over there! 😇
@@CrystalPapa if you ever do get the chance, I highly recommend it. That’s as a fan of Digimon, of course, but also someone who likes fun games! It’s a blast. Cheers to part 1; can’t wait for part 2 ☺️
@@CrystalPapa I recommend the phone tutorial app! It's kinda limited since it is just a tutorial, but it's pretty fun!
Yesss let's goooo, he made the video
This is exactly what I expected to see lol
Man, this brings me back. We had this game back when I was a kid. My best friend did.
Thing is though... We didn't really speak/read English at the time, so we had NO idea what we were doing. Just kinda mucked about until we stopped. Then repeat some time later... Now I kinda want to give this game a try, and see how it is...
Looking forward to Part Two!
minute 23:43 is the answer for the question "Can You Beat Digimon World 1 With Only Numemon?"...
tech "Poop Spd Toss" via Brain train for easier numemon...
that tech has 'poison' effect and the second tech that can get via braintrain..
no matter how awful the stat, HP reduce from the poison effect is still the same cause it depend of the enemy's HP...
Man i'm really enjoying your videos, you really made me enjoy the game again and I started another save with vice04's patches, is there any chance we may see you play a modded save eventually?
I am glad you're enjoying the videos, Akira!
I haven't really thought about Modded game runs, but I'll look into them when I get the chance!
HUGE respect for even trying this challenge.
Can you do Sukamon next? Might be a long gameplay. Also, 33:26, nice Courage The Cowardly dog OST cameo
Amazing video, but please spam your finishers to full power! I think it basically doubles the damage for a full bar vs an empty one!
