    Came here from Reddit, thank you for this! Such a cool idea, I've held onto my scraps forever not knowing what to do with them.

    You’re so clear and I love your comments. I get just as frustrated with channels that say use your scraps when they mean things you can do with something more like a fat quarter. I guess “scraps” is a relative thing...🙄

      @ashhhlgh  3 года назад

      I get that frustration! "Scrap" videos really get on my nerves, especially as someone who tries to use as much of my fabric as possible. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video.

    Best video I’ve found so far! Thank you for taking the time to explain this so well.

    An absolutely brilliant idea!! If I can gather the willpower to finally make use of my bag and bags of scraps, this is how I'm going to do it and I will most definitely tag you on instagram if I do! Gonna share this with all of my friends that are sewists or are trying to live a low-waste lifestyle!

    You are so cute! You look a lot like our daughter. I showed my husband a bit of the video, without the sound, and for a second he was sure you were our girl.

      I have been wondering if I have any doppelgangers out there! So this is very interesting to see!

    • @sharonbeach1002
      @sharonbeach1002 4 года назад +1

      @@ashhhlgh Your doppelganger is in Canada, and she has several British ancestors, so you may be remotely related!
      A tip for future bags: You could sew in a couple of inner pockets to the lining fabric before attaching it to the bag. These pockets can be custom sized to fit your phone, wallet, whatever, and you could even add a zipper or snap for added security.

    • @ashhhlgh
      @ashhhlgh  4 года назад +1

      Pockets! That's a great idea!
      You never know, there could be some distant relation that connects!

    I love that you are only using scraps, a lot of people use rope for the middle which usually has to be bought.Brilliant!

    I have a bunch of scrap strips, similar to what jelly rolls are, but these are random colors and prints. I was going to make a quilt but started making bags. This would be a great change to the ones I was making.

    Wonderful construction instructions!!
    One question please.
    What fabric types of scraps are you using? All types? Only woven? Knitted t-shirt? All cotton? Cotton blends?
    As you can see, I have all sorts of scraps.
    Thank you so much! 💓

    • @ashhhlgh
      @ashhhlgh  2 года назад

      I used lots of different types, mostly cottons, there were a few pieces of knit. But my goal was to have the external piece be cotton, it didn't matter much to me what was inside the roll.

    Hi there!, I know you made this video 2 years ago But I am really wanting to know how to bend the coils into a basket? Any suggestions would be so helpful :)

    • @ashhhlgh
      @ashhhlgh  Год назад +1

      Hi! I would suggest starting off how I did in the video with the coil being flat. Then start to curve up, once you've got the bottom of the basket as wide as you want, to form the sides. Hope that helps. 😊
