A camera before its time and still a classic. Great shots!
thankyou
I still have zero intention of moving from my RX10IV I bet if Sony could go back in time they would have never released it! It's one of those rare devices which is way too good, so good that it threatens their entire suite of pro cameras.
I spent 12 months hoping for a version V and then came to realise that as an all rounder there is little that can be done to better it!
Yes a bigger sensor, yes AI, yes true macro but honestly, as an all rounder, it's just about perfect and still amazes me every time I use it.
Z battery, 4K 60p, better low-light performance! In spite of lacking those I'm holding on to mine. I use it more than my A9iii and A7CR!
RX10IV is still the best walk around hike around camera ! I bought mine half and a year ago partly because of your channel when I was looking for an easy to carry short range/long range camera for a Safari I made last year in Tanzania, I do not regret it.
it is still an amazing camera 100% its one of those things that is just a win win situation with it
Love the misty sunrise drone shot
Stuart that was a swift so a great effort with the Rx10mk4. They are incredibly fast as you know. The first bird on post was a Skylark and the wader was a Curlew. A good day my friend👍
thankyou
Living on the ocean, I'm up for sunrise everyday and use my RX10 mk 4. I also have an RX1 full frame fixed 35mm lens which takes better images but I'm so accustomed to the zoom lens.
was tempted on a rx1 but may aswell just use my A1 lol
Beautiful shots. I just ordered this camera. The RX10 iv is 6 years old and still very usable. I'll be using it for a cycling tour. Have you tried connecting the DJI mic 2 through bluetooth?
You cant sadly
Still very happy with my RX10 IV - it is a very well judged compromise. Of course there are setups that can vastly outclass it in every field but unless you have a team of porters to carry around the gear and hand you the right one for each job on demand there is not much else that has the breadth of capability of this camera.
I used mine yesterday and it locked onto the eyes of wild cats from around 25ft. Great camera rx10
cool
Definitely worth getting up early in order to get shots like that. I’m beginning to miss my RX10, but it’s too late for that now. Superb video . Thank you. x
@@user-qu7un2ng5v thanks yes makes me remember when i use it how good it is and why i keep it
@@sjm.photos I’ll see how I get on with the 6700, as I’ve got loads of images to go through. The AF on RX10 never let me down but 6700 has . Have bought a little Canon G1X III, which is so light and small, and covers 24-72mm, so I can still carry 6700 with the 70-350, without breaking my back !
Beautiful work! I love your RX10 IV videos. I have 3 ILCs but the RX10 IV has still been my main photography workhorse since I got it 3 1/2 years ago. Have you done or would you consider doing a complete RX10 IV videography introduction for videography beginners (or maybe for photographers who use this camera and are looking to start videography)? I understand if that's too much to cover in one video.
In particular: What settings do you use in what circumstances and what do the settings mean? How do you process the videos?
thankyou and i have noted that down i shall have a think thankyou
@@sjm.photosThat would be wonderful!
Was a really good early morning worth getting up for

Stuart - you may have the best and most extensive channel for the Rx-10IV...TY for the info and insight. I've researched the heck out of cameras over the last month for an upcoming trip next July to Svalbard. Norway (arctic expedition cruise). Honestly, I’ve spent over 100 hours reviewing YT videos (and every comment) on everything out there…
I don't own any "proper" camera right now. I recently bought and returned the Nikon Z8 (way too complicated and with the lenses that I'd need to cover the focal lengths I’d need will set me back $6,500). Leave that to the Pros. I also bought and returned the Sony A6700 which seemed like a kid's toy in my hands and I didn't like the rangefinder style. The Sony RX10IV really looks like it truly fits the bill for what I need.
I’m convinced that to get any current good camera that will give you this range of focal length whether FF, APS-C or 4/3 including “decent” tracking AF, shutter speeds >10fps, at least 20MP and 4K30 - you’re going to spend around $1800-$2000 for the body alone. The used market for a camera in exc. condition doesn’t save you much. Add the minimum 2 lenses you’ll need (24-120) and (200-600) to cover all ranges and that costs an additional $2,500. In for $4,200-4,500.
This camera checks all the boxes at $1,700 NITB USA stock (I got mine brand new USA model for $1,450). My biggest concern was low light capability and reduced bokeh.
When this model was released the post editing software was just coming of age. The top complaints when reviewed (back in 2018) was low light noise and poor bokeh control. I think the proliferation of software like Topaz Denoise, Adobe LR and/or Luminar Neo takes care of these concerns handily.
If they just upgraded the chip to increase buffer (then add CFexpress) and AF subject detection and left everything else as is - there’d be NO reason for any casual user, hobbyist or enthusiast to buy anything else. At $2,000 today it would literally own the market… But IMHO we’ll never see a RX-10 V. Never. UNLESS:
Some smart marketing guy over at Sony runs the numbers and realizes that they’ll steal the under $3000 market from EVERY competitor not just Sony users (who they’re afraid to lose right now) and they’ll blow out unit sales in the millions. This is the “every man’s” Swiss Army Knife of cameras - after his smart phone of course! The 30+ crowd with their kids just starting soccer and the over 65’s doing their bucket list traveling or just getting started with bird/wildlife watching…
I bought mine 3 years ago on your advice and it has been great, l also have an OM1 but I intend to take the RX 10 iv on holiday to the Kimberley Western Australia , as my only camera , the autofocus is still fantastic, subject detect on the newer cameras does not always translate to an in focus image.
The RX 10iv is the perfect travel camera, compact, light and easy to use,
awesome have an amazing trip when you go
We are back from our trip up to the North West , fantastic , we have hundreds of great photos , landscapes and wildlife, would love to share a few to show how great the RX 10 iv is
