    I purchased one of these about 1 year ago second hand, loved it so much went and got another one for my wife second hand. Got them both for a great price and never looked back, Been using it for wildlife and sports photography etc, it's just so much fun to use and only weights 1kg. Hope it's not the end of the line for Sony when it comes to bridge cameras because if they did release another one which was updated I'd be first in line to grab it. But I'll never end up buying a camera with interchangeable lenses as I don't wont to lug around heavy equipment when out enjoying my walk. So if Sony wants my money again which it may not but if it does then lets hope they release another bridge camera down the track.

      I could not agree more. Matter fact, I just placed an order for a brand new one through B&H Photo as I am afraid the rumors may be true that they’re discontinuing the camera this summer, which is kind of right around now. I’ll keep it sealed until I really need to use it, but I really can’t find anything else that fits this terrific package and if you watched most of my videos, I’ve gone back-and-forth with interchangeable lens cameras, and always come to the realization, as you have mentioned of the weight complexity and cost of those other systems.

      Absolutely agree with everything you have written. I can't handle heavy gear and do a lot of long birding hikes, but after having my RX10iv for the past few years I am spoiled by the quality. I would buy a v in a minute if they released one. I am already researching other bridge cameras to see what is out there because if Sony stops bridge camera production I am going to have to sadly change brands because mine won't last forever. I really hope other brands see the opportunity to come out with a higher end bridge camera that will appeal to our market.

    I have the first incarnation of the RX-10, and it is still in perfect shape. Even if its zoom is not as powerful as in the later models, it's still very handy and versatile. A big plus is the fact that you never have to remove the lens. Less chances for dust to get into the sensor, and you don't have to fumble around, trying to switch lenses. Works great with Godox TTL flashes, too As long as you are aware of its limitations, you'll be able to take great photos. RX-series cameras are the best all-around digital cameras.

    I know it probably wont happen, but i wish sony updated this camera with 4k60, I love it and dont want to sell it, but i mainly record myself surfing and i find myself wanting 4k60. but man I would have to spend a lot of money for the same range on a different body.. and this Camera does everything i want except 4k60.

      It’s a shame they haven’t updated the camera, I’m hoping they will come up with a successor!

    For spare batteries, Small Rig makes a battery that can be recharged with USB-C using a portable power bank. And the sweet part is that it displays the charge percentage on the camera display just like the Sony original Info Lithium battery.

    Nice commentary, but I'll bet most of your audience is just waiting for you to knock over that coffee cup. I know I did. You're right, the RX10 IV is a great all-round machine. It's a great addition to my event-coverage camera group. However, for portraits, I'd stick with the Z8 and an 85 1.8 lens. The eye autofocus of the Z8 is superb giving you the ability to move with your subjects.

    Whether you zoom with the lever around the shutter button or the zoom ring, both are zoom by wire, ie, electronic motor. It does not have a mechanical ring. It does have a setting to make it zoom quicker.
    But then, for those zoom lenses for interchangeable lens cameras, there is no 24-600 zoom available. Nothing else compares to the versatility of this camera lens paired with the 1-inch type sensor.

    I picked this up new a couple years ago and I would stick to this camera for the rest of my life...except now Sony is no longer going to produce it, nor come up with an updated version. They are dumping the super zoom bridge cameras. I'm sick about it. I'm getting too old to get into full frame, multi lens cameras and don't want to carry around all that gear. Stupidest move on Sony's part for sure. I sure hope mine lasts.

      I hold up hope that they come up with something different as I think the segment is still needed to fill the void between smart camera phones and interchangeable lens
      cameras.

      It's being discontinued because the RX series cameras are so good, that they are probably eating into sales of the higher-end Sony cameras AND lenses

    How can I set option to delete all images on the card?

    • @Jswcat
      @Jswcat  11 дней назад

      This is what works for me : 1) press the play button to bring up the photos and / or videos on the SD card. 2) press the menu button and it will automatically bring up the delete option. If there are separate days however you will have to delete each day one by one.

    • @Jswcat
      @Jswcat  11 дней назад

      Also you can just format the SD card by going to the “toolbox” icon in the menu (#5) and going to the 5th page. But remember, this will delete everything without looking to see what you’re deleting.

      I keep watching all the gossip websites and also the Sony webpage itself and it hasn’t gone out of stock yet so for those who still wish to buy it I would make the jump now as I don’t think they’re gonna be making an RX 10 mark five

    I have a Sony RX10 IV camera that I bought half a year ago. Over the decades I have used several pro cameras, but I agree with you that this camera does its job. I heard rumors that Sony is going to stop production of this model completely.?

    • @Jswcat
      @Jswcat  3 месяца назад +1

      I’ve heard that also and I hope it’s not true, but if it is, I intend on buying another one just as a back up. That’s how good I think this camera is. My hope is if they do discontinue it that they replace it with something that’ll have lots of updates!
