    Great video, I did accidentally toss the little plastic piece on top of the old carb when I took it off. To replace it I used a slim drywall anchor. I just cut off the bottom and shaved the top to fit with a razor.

    I have the Courage 21 in my Husqvarna tractor. Bought it brand new in 2007. 416 hours. I only use it for my backyard. Ive found out that even though it gets a bad wrap a little preventative maintenance goes a long way! Seasonal oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter changes. Replaced my carb last week. Still runs like a champ!

Noticed it kept having issues with fuel and smoking and small fire around the exhaust. Needed blades, so I’m doing an overhaul on it. Thanks for the info. I bought carb you mentioned in this video. the hipa carb. cost me less than 30 buc from amazon including shipping. pulled old carb off due to running very roughly at low idle. to start had to have full choke and play with throttle. seems like bad carb, as I changed air filter, plug, oil and oil filter. the old carb had NO GAS LEAKS, just an fyi. installed new carb (hipa one) and the minute I plugged in the gas line, and bowl filled up, gas flowed from sides of bowl, removed, disassembled and found 'O' ring not correctly installed, was not circular, was mis applied, causing bad seal on one side of bowl, corrected seal issue, made sure float not stuck, and reassembled. again, the minute I connected gas line, the bowl filled and now NOT coming out of any side of bowl around seal, so this ok, but NOW gas coming directly out of main carb opening, lightly tapped float bowl (make sure float not stuck, no change). I did start the mower (after putting filter housing on and bolting carb (with all gaskets in place) back to engine).. it started very easily and ran ok from low throttle to full. ran for about 1 min, shut off. and checked for gas flow/leak. STILL leaking from main carb opening. and as for the safety gas shut off kill solonoid, the new hipa carb did not come with instructions on connecting, plug to solonoid. plug will go either way, I am not sure if it makes any difference (positive / negative). as I tried plug both ways as it is NOT KEYED OR NO INDICATION OF POLARITY, if there is one.
    Any thoughts here, thanks in advance.

    When those cut off solenoids go bad; just cut the end of it off and squirt silicone down in the end of it, bolt it back in (to plug the leak hole) and unplug the cord. You don't need it at all. Mine has been running fine for years without it.

    Mine is a 2017 Troy-bilt Horse with the Kohler Courage SV601engine ~22 HP. I have to look at the carb to see if it is the death model. :D
    I have a question, in the course of this video you talk about a fuel pump, with yours being on the side, and others maybe inside the cover cowling.
    My mower seems to have a direct line from the gas tank bottom to the inline filter and then to the carb. This means the bottom of the tank is roughly at the same height as the carb instead of raised where gravity might help fuel flow.
    I am experiencing a situation with the mower where it runs fine with a full tank of gas, but once it is about half full or lower the engine starts to cough and cut out on uphill inclines.
    Tank is clean, lines are clean new filter, so I'm guessing carb may need work? Would a pump help me you think?
    Hope you have a suggestion or two. :)
    Love your channel.

    Thanks for the very helpful video. I followed your advice and installed a Hipa Carb just like you did. However, I cannot get the engine to start unless I shoot a little carb cleaner in the throat of the carb. It then fires and runs, actually running longer than the carb cleaner would sustain; so apparently ran on gas for a minute plus. But, when I turned it off, I cannot get it to start again. Since it ran with carb cleaner, I know it's getting fire. Installed a new inline filter and a nice shut-off ball valve and have proved that gas is getting to the carb. When I power up the fuel solenoid, I can hear and feel the solenoid pick. I'm stumped. Will certainly appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

    • @redneckcomputergeek
      @redneckcomputergeek  Год назад

      Sounds like a choke adjustment might have been messed with or got stuck. The start with fuel added shows the mix is wrong in the carb this is normally caused by the choke not being fully closed at start up position on the throttle.

    Mmm, what happened to wiring up the solenoid you never showed in video you hooked it up, and why don't you have custom fit K&N air filter in the Koler racing engine betterthan nothing but screen mmm Not good. K&N filters make you special filter if you E-mail them. And I'll comment on that solenoid I was lucky on my briggs 22 hp cutting grass with rider engine just died out and white smoke poured out from hood come to find out fast the stupid solenoid was burning the black plastic I was lucky it didn't burn tractor outside on grass to ground that solenoid is 156.00 holy shit, So it running without solenoid I fixed it as bolt type screwed to float bowl with in-line fuel shut-off Now installed. Now it's safe.
