  • Our troy-bilt mower wouldn't start without spraying starter fluid in there. I tested the spark plug, air filter, fuel filter; the usual suspects and got nothing. I decided it was a problem with the carb.
    This carburetor replacement was bought off amazon for $16.99 and works on a bunch of Kohler motors, not just the SV530. I walk through replacement by the seat of my pants, but it's pretty easy. I also talk through how to do a tune-up and a few other diagnostic test. Make sure you have power to the fuel actuator on the bottom of the carb when the key is on! That's important for start up.
    It was cheaper to buy this whole carb than the rebuild kit.

    YAY. I am a 67 year old female and with the help of your video my mower is now back in working condition. I have the exact same model in your video and while it took me longer than it took you, I couldn't have done this on my own. It's been about 30 years since I worked on any engine, car or mower. I kept walking away. I kept thinking I can't do this. I finally pulled up my big girl panties, dug my heels in and VOILA, this sucker started on the first try after not starting for over 2 years! I'm going to cancel my lawn guy since I am now retired and can mow myself.

      Hayden Nestor you’re welcome! Figure if I’m going to take something apart I might as well film it!

    On some.models it is required that the black thing be removed or else the fuel solenoid won't clear the frame of the mower and you can't get the carb off. Also for what it's worth, the "black thing" is dummy proof. If you line the big hole up there's no way you can get it backwards.

      Thanks. I have no idea what I’m doing. I just take broken things apart and hope for the best!

      I’m so sorry. Sold this one years ago, so I can’t look at what it was connected to.

    I can't get mine off. The bottom part where the wire is connected is blocked when I try to remove it.

    • @kapurnicus7891
      @kapurnicus7891  3 года назад

      Blocked by what? It’s been a few years but in my version I remember the carb coming right off. Maybe they added some other supports in later years.

      Take the black piece off behind the carb. The one that he said not to take off. This will allow you to rotate the carb to remove.

    Where has this. Mower been run at? A dirt road is a lot cleaner than that engine. No wonder it won't start!

      funny enough, it was used to mow the weeds on a dirt road. Stop judging how often I spray it with a hose. The air filter is clean.

      yolanda frederick hi! I believe it’s a 2015, but I can’t recall. They are probably pretty similar between years. The first 5 minutes or so of the video is me removing the carb. You have to remove the engine cover and the air box to remove it.

      Amazon in 2017. YMMV now with supply chains and inflation.
