    Just to be clear 16:9 is the aspect ratio & the numbers I give is the resolution. Some people appear to be confused.
    This is designed to be watched on a phone which over 70% of viewers are watching on. It’s not optimised for TV or tablets. This is the same resolution used by big channels such as MKBHD and is simply ment to be an additional option for you. If you don’t want to use it you don’t have to. I hope that clears things up 😃

      4K UHD is a commercialized term describing the resolution of 3840 pixels across the top of the video and 2160 pixels across the side of the video. So he's correct the aspect ratio of 4K is 3840x2160.
      Also 4K DCI is a different aspect ratio than 4K UHD, whereas 4K DCI is actually 4096x2160.
      Aspect ratio: the amount of pixels across the top and side of an image that make up the total amount of pixels in the image
      Resolution: The total amount of pixels in an image that is expressed in PPI units (pixels per inch)
      Pixel Density: The amount of information a screen can display per pixel. Usually the larger the screen the more information it can display within a single pixel.

      @@TeamRichTV I beg to differ. 4K can be both 3840x2160 or 2160x3840 and is commonly used in these ways. Both are the same video resolution but different aspect ratios. I rest my case.

    Sorry buddy, but this is not good information for aspiring RUclipsrs to follow unless you are specifically trying to go for a cinematic style for a specific video. Your video has big black bars at the top and bottom due to you recording in a different aspect ratio.
    RUclips themselves said that more and more people are watching RUclips videos on their TVs.
    Whether you're recording in 4K or 1080p or even 720p, they are all 16x9 aspect ratio, same as just about all smart TVs out there and is the recommended aspect ratio to fill the entire screen.
    No disrespect, but you probably shouldn't be making such decisions based on your small sample size on such a small channel. It's better to follow RUclips's advice considering that their sample size is in the millions.

    @GalaxyFur 3 месяца назад +2

    Yes, he used resolution. However, resolution is just the measurement of the height and width of pixels, similar to how an aspect ratio correlates directly with dimension. You can get the aspect ratio from any video or display resolution. Aka...1920 x 1080 = 16:9 or 3840 x 2160 = 16:9 or 1280 x 720 = 16:9 etc...
    Or odd ball resolutions like 1440 x 720 = 2:1 or 1880 x 940 = 2:1 or 1668 x 834 = 2:1 etc... (Note: 2:1 is also the same as 18:9)
    Screen resolutions can create goofy aspect ratios, like the 19.5:9 of the Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max. For example, the S24 Ultra display has a resolution of 3120 x 1440, which is 19.5:9. You can also create a goofy resolution like 1560 x 720, which is a 19.5:9 ratio.
    16:9 is an industry-standard aspect ratio. The television industry uses 4:3 and 16:9 exclusively. Rarely will you find the TV industry using any other aspect ratio.
    However, 18:9 became popular when Netflix started using it in its own productions and recommending it. (2:1) So, Netflix content, in general, now uses 16:9 and 18:9.
    18:9 (2:1) will be a good compromise ratio between a TV and a cell phone. Both devices will have a small black bar on their respective displays. This will be on the right and left side of the phone's visible content. On a TV, the bars will be on the top and bottom of the visible content.
    18:9 is a good compromise ratio, just like 16:9 was for bridging the gap between the 4:3 aspect ratio of old TV shows and movies and the 2.40:1 aspect ratio of modern films at the theater.
    However, to use 18:9 with a 16:9 camera, you have to film your content with the mindset that you will be zooming or cropping it. So, you must leave enough space at the borders of whatever you are filming to be cropped. For example, keep the top of your head at least two inches from the edge of your original 16:9 stock footage. Allow just enough background to surround your content to crop it without cutting a part of your head off. LOL! Or anything else you want viewers to see. Keep the subject matter in the center of the frame so you can crop it.
    Most cameras, including high-end video and TV cameras, almost exclusively record in a 16:9 ratio. The only types that don't are the Hollywood cameras designed solely to make films. These generally default to 1.85:1 ratios. So, even these cameras typically use extra lenses to crop to get 2.40:1 ultra-widescreen ratios. Other film techniques are also used, though, to get different ratios. Some films have even used the 18:9 ratio in very recent times.
    However, 16:9 is still the only ratio considered a proper industry standard for most devices, even though 18:9 has become popular over the last seven years.

    many errors friend - 4k is uhd and uhd is 3840X2160 and that is16:9; also UHD isn't an aspect ratio, it's a resolution 3840 pixels by 2160 pixels. the 16:9 is the aspect ratio, which is the same as 1920 x 1080. which has always been what the best aspect ration is to film in

    You should NOT shoot or render at 24p. All monitors and phones screens refresh at multiples of 30Hz (usually 60 Hz). 30/24 is not an integer, so you get jerky motion. Not to mention blurry motion assuming you follow the 180 rule.

      As a new creator, it is advised that you stick to recording in the 16:9 aspect ratio for your videos to look good across most devices, including smart TVs. Just stick to recording in "3840 × 2160 (4K UHD)", "1920×1080 (1080p)", or " 1280×720 (720p)" and it will fill the screens of most devices.
      If you go putting black bars on your videos by recording in weird formats, it may lead to a poor experience for your viewers, and they may abandon your videos.
      At the same time, it is not unusual to see RUclipsrs upload videos with black bars at the top and bottom if they are specifically trying to go for a cinematic style for that video.

    • @GalaxyFur
      @GalaxyFur 3 месяца назад +1

      MKBHD uses the 2:1 (18:9) ratio for all of his content. However, it's mostly just Tech RUclipsrs who are doing this. Most RUclipsrs are still using the 16:9 ratio currently. Sometimes, those who make mini-movies also use the 2:1 ratio. However, the vast majority use the tried-and-true 16:9 ratio, mainly because all cameras, including high-end cameras, typically record in 16:9.
      2:1 received a big push about two years ago from the tech RUclips space, but the average person couldn't care less. Your camera natively records in a 16:9 ratio, so it's less work to upload in 16:9 rather than editing the video and cropping it to make it look like a 2:1 image.

  • @Lofyne
    @Lofyne 2 месяца назад

    I see where you’re coming from, although I don’t think 2:1 is the best aspect ratio for anyone with an iPhone, due to the notch or camera cutout that blocks a fair chunk of the screen.
    For years I have been making all my music videos 2.39:1 4K DCI Scope (4096 x 1716). This fit the screen of my old Xperia 1 III phone perfectly! But I recently switched to an iPhone 16 Pro, and now that camera cutout and the rounded corners make my videos look really ugly on here.
    After some testing, I found that the regular 4K DCI (4096 x 2160) resolution seems to be the best option for iPhones. It’s as wide as you can go without being obscured by the camera cutout or the rounded corners.

    although I think the idea is intereseting to export in 2:1/18:9 instead of 16:9, I don't thing this will work.
    e.g. gaming content is recorded most of the time in 16:9, which you can't crop since there are some HUD elements and important information you would lose. Playing / recordiung on an Ultrawide Monitor would work. these have an aspect ration of 21:9. many movies have a very smillar aspect ratio as they are relesed in cinema scope 2,35:1 (21,15:9).

    On my S22 Ultra, that has a very wide screen, that vertical bars never used to bore me, and when they do, I just do a pinch to zoom in, and it tstays fine. But, I'll definitely going to make some tests on this. Nice topic to bring up.

    I stopped watching after you confused aspect ratio with resolution. You can shoot many different resolutions and crop them to any Aspect ratio you want…. 4K is the approximate number of pixels/ photsites on a sensor and in your captured image. Cropping to a given aspect ratio is a stylistic choice although it may be limited by the resolution and dimensions of your cameras sensor.
