Coaster's new design looks amazing. Those are some good looking chargers. Thankfully 2 Coaster F40PHs are being preserved, #2103 and #2105. Im gonna miss the old paint job. But hey they look really nice.
I am writing to suggest that the North County Transit District (NCTD) consider purchasing F59PH locomotives from Trinity Railway Express (TRE) in 2026. This acquisition would enhance the NCTD Coaster fleet and provide reliable and efficient service to your passengers. The F59PH locomotives, built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division, have a proven track record of performance and reliability. By acquiring these locomotives from TRE, NCTD can upgrade its fleet while also reducing emissions and operating costs. Please consider this proposal and let me know if you require any additional information. Thank you for your time and consideration.
I recently took both the Northbound and Southbound Coaster, and on both trips, I rode in one of the overhauled coach cars. It was both a very smooth and a very comfortable ride from start to finish, and it was definitely an experience I'll never forget. Seeing the SC-44 Chargers will take some time to get used to, but I really like the new Coaster livery that's used on the overhauled coach cars. My only downside is that the WiFi on the Coaster is super slow, but I guess you can't have everything you want.
Locomotive-wise, Metrolink has replaced most of their old F40PHs and F59PHIs with F125 Spirit locomotives. Car-wise, Metrolink does need to overhaul the old Bombardier cars to make them look like their Hyundai Rotem cars.
2:30 is the most important thing: bringing in new riders with attractive newly overhauled equipment that is safe, comfortable, and reliable. It is definitely a bright future ahead for NCTD and Coaster as they receive new cab cars that are much safer than the old ones because they have Crash Energy Management. I hope more people turn to trains as a much better alternative to driving especially with these awesome new SC44s which are state of the art tier 4 locomotives. Every car taken off the highway or left behind will greatly benefit the air we breathe. I love San Diego county so much! The Coaster was one of the first trains I had ever rode on as a kid and ever since then, the Surfline route has been my favorite train route ever! I love the scenery and the Beaches, the marshes, the cliffs, and the vibrant downtown. I will love to see this mighty railroad continue to thrive with more ridership and clean, new modern trains. TRAINS ARE AWESOME. I love coaster
I noticed that, with the new schedule, Coaster and Amtrak are finally running on a regular "about X minutes after the hour." Thus, if your Sprinter arrives in Oceanside just before the hour, you can board an Amtrak to San Diego (which usually accepts Coaster tickets; I usually get the Regional Day Pass), if one is running that hour. If you are on a Sprinter arriving in Oceanside just before the half-hour, you can board a Coaster, if one is running then. This change is a result, presumably, from all the second main track installed between Oceanside and San Diego over the last few years. You should publicize this fact -- that you can almost not look at the timetable now, because the trains are running so regularly, and there are so many, waiting for the next train south from Oceanside is quicker than taking Sprinter to Escondido and catching MTS Route 235.
I wish NCTD could have just rebuilt the F40PHM-2C locomotives and kept them because they looked like that they were also in good enough shape to rebuild them also.
Hi guys, my name is Luis Urbieta and I really really love these coaches! My suggestions are: 1. The cab cars should all have the Electronic bell I think they'll sound better. Suggestion II. Every car on the train must have a DOORS CLOSING automated voice so people who are dead can listen to it.
@@StudioSA15 there was recently a picture of 2306 in the yard in the new livery, which suggests it'll probably return to service, I also thought it had been scrapped ages ago until I saw that

Great Job NCTD! These new overhauls are amazing. Cant wait for these to be complete
I can't wait either, Brett! -AZRails
I am not really a fan of this new paint scheme it looks pretty boring
Same here!
I’m gonna miss the f40’s and f59phi’s 😭😭😭
My understanding is the F59PHI is not being mothballed yet. Still part of active fleet.
Me too. Thankfully two F40PHs will be donated to museums.
@@davidng2336 that’s great to hear
@GN yup. 2023 is when the additional chargers enter service iirc

Boy I'm excited for the new coaster!
I went in one of the overhauled cars, it was so clean and nice.
Great job NCTD, Metrolink needs to learn from you!
Agreed especially the 100-200 cars.
@@5e.e5 You mean, the old Bombardiers?

Metrolink just started refurbishing some old Bombardier cars from Talgo to have the EXACT SAME amenities as the coaster cars!

Ive ridden on the new bombardier bi level cars they feel absolutely fresh and much more modern
at least you did repaint the old cab but can you get a new cab car
I think they should keep the stripes on the Cabcars like how Metra Has it.
I hope you guys fix the front of the repainted cab cars they don't look that good
These refurbished bi levels look fresh off the production line idk if bombardier bi levels are still being built but still
From me watching this... Why couldnt they have just put a new paint scheme on 2101????
Siemens SC-44 Charger is a Tier-4 locomotive!!!
So they ARE using the old bombardier coach-cars shell, they just change the whole interior & use a new paint scheme to match the new Charger. WOW!
DUH
Nice!
Rip f40 ph
They are being preserved

I hope they save some cars
The new cars look good but in my opinion i don't like the new livery, but good anyway

Sir I have coaster sc44 and f59phi! Really go f59phi! 🤩 🤩 🤩
Coaster Trains the whole trains has the same color refurbished new interior compared to different color trains by AMTRAK.
No NCTD the f40ph was in good shape they can do the f40s there saying there can't and that's not true its only bc they did voting
cab car pls
Your luck day is now 2311 CEM cabcar sounder is entering service soon!
Next Can You Get P42DC’s?
why would they do that
Those are old Locomotives, just like the F40s and F59s
Those are older than the f59's.
P42s are being retired by Amtrak in favor of chargers, 42s are a thing of the past.
lmao P42s?

Great Job, NCTD. Now just please improve the WiFi Reliability and Speed. It's incredibly slow...
