- Hello, everyone! Have you ever taken a ride in the cab of a locomotive? In this video, we conclude our three part series looking at Coaster locomotive 2103 at the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum with a ride in the cab of the locomotive as it leads the museum's Golden State excursion train over the former San Diego and Arizona Railroad through eastern San Diego County.

It must have been an honor to ride the Locomotives you grew up seeing in revenue service. I also hope to see F40 no. 2105 be preserved too since it bares your YT Name.
Don’t worry, she has already been spared from scrap and will be preserved at Peris Ca
It’s going to Southern California Railway Museum. It’s currently waiting in the Commerce BNSF yard for delivery
@surfliner456 Oh cool. Mike would be proud 👏
@@_Sykodelic_ Yes. He organized it too lol
It was really cool! I'm very excited that 2105 will be arriving at the SoCal Ry Museum this Spring!
Man, look at how worn that control panel is. Just another testament to all those years of reliable service this engine provided. Thanks for the ride Mike! And may I say, you and your friends did an amazing job restoring that horn!
Many thanks, Patrick! It's really cool to see the two F40s get good homes after retirement. We all had a lot of fun seeing them running along the coast for all those years!
It sounds SO quiet in there without the engine running! Thank you for sharing this!
Definitely quiet! And you're very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
When we do get a cab ride on a locomotive, it feels really special. One time I was able to climb into the cab of SP 4449 while under steam and it was AWESOME
That sounds really cool! Thanks so much!
As a Canadian, i feel nostalgic over that horn as i watched fantapes of amtrak f40phs back than!
Take me back
It does give a lot of the nostalgia vibes! Thanks for watching!
I've been in this locomotive 100 times. I even ran it a few times as well. Strange seeing it gutted.
Awesome capture my friend Like 👍🏻 And Greeting 🙋🏻 from argentina 🇦🇷
Thank you!
Hello, awesome cab ride! Nice footage!
Thanks so much!
Great Video!
And that horn sounds amazing, great job on the restoration! I don't know if it will ever be possible but hearing that horn at 60+ MPH would be pretty special and a real throwback
Thank you! I may be able to arrange that in the coming months, we shall see!
so happy that they saved this engine, nice video!
The museum did a fantastic job making sure the Coaster F40s made it into preservation! Thanks for watching!
This is a wonderfull tour Mike!Congrulations!
Thanks so much!
Thanks Mike. Just joined the museum this month.
Awesome, thanks Jeffrey! It's a neat museum.
Hi Mike! Watching this reminds me of how the F40s were not he surfine! I watched them for around 17-18 years from 03-21 when they sadly took them out of service! It's nice to see 2015 doing well in campo, obviously 2103 is in commerce eventually waiting to be moved to PSRM! And the other three obviously in Anaheim! Again great footage here!! I definitely enjoyed it! :)
Many thanks, Dean! I miss seeing them on the Coaster. But, I'm really happy 2103 and 2105 both have good homes now! Thanks for watching!
14:36 had to be the cleanest shave and a haircut I’ve ever heard
That horn sounds great!!!!!
Thank you! I like how it turned out.
Hey CF2105 thank you for this cab ride! This is my favorite train ride i ever saw from you and i love it so much! You should make more cab rides like this. Now i want a steam locomotive cab ride.
Anyways, thanks again for this wonderful cab ride!
Thanks so much! There is a little bit of cab ride video in my Western Maryland steam video from several years back. Hopefully more in the future!
Fantastic ride along and thank you for sharing this with us. I have ridden in many locomotives growing up by the CNW. Then throughout my railroad career with the Canadian Pacific I road a lot of different work trains dumping ballast, Unloading CWR rail and other type trains.Enjoyed watching another cool video and have a great upcoming weekend.(Steve)
Thanks so much, Steve! I have a friend who's also an engineer with the CP out of the Twin Cities. Hope you had a great weekend.
@@CoasterFan2105 Your welcome and very cool for sure. Yes it was good and yours also.
The most unique video I've seen on this channel!
I'm kind of intrigued by the cab set up for Coaster 2103, it reminds me more of the P42DC set, compared to the Amtrak F40PHs. Also I didn't know you were the one to restore an accurate K5LA horn for Coaster 2103
Most locomotives built in the 1990s and on had the "desktop" style controls. Thanks for watching!
Looks and sounds amazing! Nice video!
Many thanks!

Awesome cab ride! I bet you had a whole lot of fun riding in the cab of a classic Coaster F40PH! Keep up the amazing content! 👍❤️
It was fun! Thanks so much, I will!
Well done as always Mike, you never disappoint ! Great shots of the train and the scenery. Excellent video thanks for the enjoyable content : )
- Larry
Many thanks, Larry! Really appreciate it!
Incredible video!! This is so cool to see the POV of an engineer and conductors view up on aboard an F40.
Thanks so much! Hopefully more in the future!
I like this a lot. You filmed it like going on a train ride without being on a train.
Thank you! Really glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome.
Thanks!
How lucky you were to ride the locomotive. I wish I could do that.
It was really cool! If you're ever out at the museum, you should definitely look into getting a cab ride!
I noticed the driver pull that lever when the train was about to leave
That K5 has some good warble to it!
That it does! It turned out great!
That Southern Pacific behind it looks nice too
Never been here this early before 🤣🤣
Thanks for watching!
A cab ride, that’s crazy
Hopefully more in the future!
Good video with Coaster F40ph 2103 at Campo. 🙂
Thank you!
Great video Mike! Great work on that horn and great footage!
Many thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
That is so cool! Thanks for sharing it with us!
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching!
No problem@@CoasterFan2105
Thanks for the ride and have fun!!!!!
Thanks so much! Glad to hear it!
@@CoasterFan2105 My pleasure!
Great Stuff, and what a beautiful K5 it has!
Many thanks! It fits the locomotive well!
Awesome Video
Thank you!
I gotta check this out some day
That you do!
Great video on 2103
Thank you!
We don't have many subscribers left, cheer up!
This is just awesome.
Thanks so much!
Love it
Thank you!
Awesome video mike! Keep the content coming!
Thank you! I will!
I saw Amtrak 453 and been standing at the station for 2 minutes 32 seconds straight.
Fantastic video
Many thanks, Evan!
And also I didn’t know the coaster diesel had a lever to sound the horn instead of a button it’s very interesting
It's a two way switch. Forward is half air pressure and back is full volume. An interesting design.
Great Video! watching from Arkansas, keep up the great work!
Thanks so much, will do!
Man that was amazing!
Thank you!
This Is Epic!!😃😃
Thanks so much!
Cool cab ride on Coaster F40PH No. 2103, also to let you know I have a comment in the section of your Q&A video.
Thank you! I will take a look when I get a chance.

Hopefully this summer!
That’s so awsome!
Thanks so much!
Your so welcome
Nice one man i hope I can there soon
It's definitely worth a visit! Thanks for watching!
Amazing video
Thank you!
This was a excellent video of the 2103 hopefully the 2105 is project is going well. Can the next video be a video about all the unseen footage of Atsf 3751 going to San Bernardino Railroad Days
Thank you! More on the 2105 soon. I will be doing a 3751 video with all the San Bernardino footage in April!
Nice video.
Thanks, Matt!
Nice Video!
🍄🌺🇮🇳🌺🍄
Thank you!
Wow the cab of the coaster diesel has very very cool details and the horn is always very cool and also wow you actually did my advice to like I did ask you when is there gonna be a video about inside the cab this is so cool when are you gonna make a series of Amtrak like only because we’re going to say Amtrak trains and coaster is my favorite but it’s absolutely your choice Mike this is your channel so it’s your choice to do it besides I’m your fan I can’t convince you because that would be a bit harsh
I'd like to do more cab rides in the future! Hopefully at some point!
Ty
Thanks for watching!
That's why the southern Pacific locomotive is on it I didn't know that
I know that this is something a bit off topic, but when and what are you gonna do for your 1M subscriber special? Your channel is definitely gonna be at 1M soon, and that's a huge milestone!
I have a few different ideas I'm looking at right now. Anything in particular you'd like to see?
@@CoasterFan2105 I don't have any ideas, but I'm sure you'll come up with a great one!
Used to live in San Diego seeing these were great Now I’m in Barstow California seeing BNSF and UP run Mojave sub
A lot of great memories seeing the F40s running on the coast!
@@CoasterFan2105 Indeed it was!
Oh kereta khusus coaster ching chei 🗿🗿🗣🗣🗣🗣
@CoasterFan2105 no I never got the chance to ride in the cab of a train, even though it's been years
Correct me if im wrong but the engineer sounded the horn twice then prodceeded in reverse? Not 3 2:40
not a fan of desktop locomotives, I prefer the "old" style modern control stand PS- you know you can just burst the pics by holding down the button and panning?
Do you think coaster 2103 will get restored and run under its own power again?
There's always a chance, but nothing for sure at this point.
What is the process of became a loco pilot in your country,
Is the coaster still a cab car set-up or does it have a motor now?
2:22 What did he say?
My guy is taking a ride in the same locomotive in his profile picture
Привет всем из Russia
I got ride in amtrak cab on 98 going to new yourk in 207🎉🎉🎉🎉
Awesome!
Will 2105 be saved?
Any updates on the locomotive?
On the 2105? It should be moving to the museum this spring. There will hopefully be more updates very very soon!
it just seems so out of place in the middle of the desert with heavy weight passenger cars instead of bilevels. The horn is in good shape though.
It's definitely a change in scenery for the locomotive!
That’s A F40PHM-2C, Not Just A Regular F40PH
2103 doesn’t really fit in this railway and why did it get set there again?
They bought it to save it from being scrapped
The museum collects railroad items from San Diego County, so it fits the museum mission statement well. The locomotive was retired in 2021 and if the museum hadn't stepped in, it would have gone to scrap.
Interesting I’m from Canada but If I had the money I would go Check er Out
That's definitely NOT North San Diego County.
Nope! New territory for this locomotive!
Who's that brakeman? Bro needs to shut up 💀
Nahhh, he's cool
Great video! So many great different angles and the sound of the horn and engine!! Subbed Marietta, Ga.
Thanks so much!
I hope someday they can get that engine running again
I do too!
