Hey, DaLucaa. Just downloaded the game and needed a tutorial and you came up. I've got to say, man, this is freaking excellent. You've helped me so much and I am so so so thankful! Keep up the good work good sir and may the algorithm smile upon you!

@@dalucaa Got through the Winterhome and the last autumn, a bit stuggling early but after a while it satisfied me how well i've managed them :) thx again!
This was super helpful, I started over like 5 times trying to figure out a good plan, and this definitely pushed me in the right direction! Thank you for the great video! 🙏🏻
Heard good things about this game and wanted to give it a shot before Frostpunk 2 comes out. Needed a quick and good tutorial and thats what i got! Great video mate!👍🏼
Top tip: mark out the first four rows from the generator with 1 tent. Build your utility buildings (including child centers) from the 5th row. The first four rows are reserved for tents and houses. This is enough for a 600-700 population. It is the most efficient set up for keeping your houses warm using the generator only. If you need norepinephrine homes than that, you can mark out an addional 5-6 rows and use steam generators to warm the area. I also recommend rushing improved and insulated homes, then upgrading generator range and power after that.
I can make 8 tents, 3 gathering posts, 2 workshops, and a medical centre from the first day. This is all done without using the emergency shift. Edit. It took me about 3-4 months to complete the game for the first time, the learning process was just as intense that I had on "This war of mine" in both games at the start, I had to set alarms to remind myself to eat, sleep and see people my friends in real life, what a game. A work of art.
I setup for beacon first day with emergency shift and send them out to tesla location ASAP, by the time it comes end of the game nearly everything is automated from how early on I aquire the resources this way
Great tutorial, I followed it and it set's you up in a great postione, 1st time playing the game and I survived! I found building a 3rd Workshop usefull (after finding some more engineers). Havin Atamotans work at the most importatn building, Coal Mines and Iron mines, had to use emergency shift a couple of times, but they weren't a big problem, I went the Order path, becoming a dictator at the end :D
Fast Gathering is probably ideal that you should research first. Weird how this is even something you can or have to research. If I was in that situation, I’d try to gather quickly.
I always start to a game with build in tutorials and than try to find out the rest by myself but at this situation I really needed this video. thank you.
loving the game so far with many restarts! Building around resources is key which I didn't do initially, and having two workshops is important also at start. Haven't figured out exactly how to spec scouts and move them back and forth, (console is different), and have progressed to this stage to run out resources, starve, and kill everyone! Long game looks sick with mechs, and ring layers of heat, and I hope to progress to this stage one day. Thanks for the content, very helpful, and I will keep watching for future updates! Cheers
The guide makes a couple of pretty big mistakes. 1. You do not actually need to bumrush coal. You do in fact not even need to start the generator until day 4. You want to keep workplaces and homes livable for the first days. Gatherers hut and tents do just fine for that. Having a single medical post will also ensure everyone is healthy. 2. Workshops have no place within range of the generator. Especially in the early days where locations within the heating is a premium. Workshops have pretty good insulation and can easily withstand -30 to maybe even -40. This means that you should NEVER place them next to the generator as they simply do not need that heat. What I recommend is that instead of working on getting the workshop up fast build the following: 1. A Gatherers hut next to the largest amount of wood you can. Then adopt emergency shift. 2. Send all other workers to gather wood. As much wood as possible. 3. When you have built the hut call a emergency shift on it so it work during the night. 4. Build 8 tents and 1 medical post next to the generator. Building might take place during the night. 5. When homes and a medical post is done, now place two workshops far away from the generator to ensure you can expand without having them being in the way. This is also where you will build your first infirmary once it is researched.
This video didn’t focus on how to place your buildings but rather a strategy on how to start and survive day 4. There are clearly many different ways you can do this but I happen to show the strategy in the video which worked out for me and it will work out for many other people. I have no doubt your strategy also works 😀 everyone will eventually come up with their own strategy once they get their bearings around what they have to do!! Thanks for the feedback👍🏼
@@dalucaa Pointing out insulation and that you should build in districts is a really important thing to point out. If you don't you have waste. If you have waste you spend time and energy on resources you can have used in other things. Since you will always be out of resources it means you will jump from crisis to crisis which will eventually lead to a game over. The thing about the workshops is also not my strategy. It is a fairly common thing said over 5 years ago. Just like how you do not need to place hunters huts within range of the heat. I just find that it will mislead people as I did the same thing when I started as I didn't understand how the insulation system worked.
@@Cloud_Seeker I understand where your coming from. But like I said, this is a beginner’s guide. You will develop those essential strategies over time. Understanding how to beat day 4 easily is the main aim of this video. Once you get the gist of that, you can then go into understanding the insulation system and better laying out your city’s foundation/layout. Many people struggle solely on surviving day 4. Introducing them to insulation and the layout of a city as a beginner, I think is too complex and will only drive them away from the game. It’s a building block. Like I said though, I appreciate your feedback and I do not disagree one bit 😀
I just no-lifed this game while it was free over the weekend and finished the first scenario after I don't even know how many attempts but I'm not satisfied. I want a smoother play through. I have to try again - time to buy it!

I tried 2 different cities on my own. First one was a complete fail because I didn’t know what I was doing. Second was going great but eventually ran out of resources and didn’t have enough workers due to everyone getting sick 😕 Thanks for this tutorial I learned so much
Hoping to get a Frostpunk 2 guide like this in the future! This helped he so much last time. I'm console player so it was delayed to the first one and will be delayed again. So i have to suffer and watch everyone play ughhhh
Some extra tips for begginers: 1. Some buildings like the hunters hut and beacon doesn't need heat so please place them far away 2. Keep the city well fed if you don't they'll eat raw food which is a very bad problem 3. You start with 80 (but only 75 people will work as children don't work unless you do something about it) people but that is not enough to run the city so find as much people as you can as soon as you can 4. Don't make promises you can't keep or else the penalty will be very drastic than not making it 5. All Laws you pass whether its a good law or not will have consequences
There is a mistake in point 1. It is not a big issue but it can actually show up. Yes, you do not need to heat the hunters hut when they are working as the hunters do not work there. However, if a worker can't work they still go there, and then they get frostbite. Situations where the workers can't work is during storms or when the storage's are full. You should NEVER keep hunters hut staffed during a storm if you also do not heat them. So point 1 is true but with conditions.
@@why_4 Yes. Or more correctly. Remove them from their workplace. Even if the facility do not operate, the workers will still stay inside the building the whole night. I noticed it when I got a massive amount of seriously sick people and I had no idea why. Turned out all of them were hunters.
Thank you very much for your video! I liked the game by looking at clips on RUclips, but I became frustrated as I found it difficult to even start... and was considering giving up. Your video helped a lot and I'll give it a try again. ;) Cheers!
My personal struggle in early game has to do with the Londoners. I still haven’t got past that part yet and even when u got close the discontent was maxed out and I was kicked out 😂 this game is sorta like lose and learn and it’s enjoyable like that. Thank you for the rest of the explanations though they did clear up confusion
Faith is incredibly OP. If you manage your faith cooldowns and abuse the passive hope bonuses, you wind up only really having to manage discontent, which should mostly be coming from soup, hospital crowding, and long hours, all of which can be easily solved.
Playing this game multiple times I can say that Child Labour (Safe Works) makes a huge difference on A New Home and Refugee specific ally on hard to extreme difficulties.

I had a dream a long time ago that this actually happened. It's insane someone made a game out of it, and it took me 5-10 hours just to last more than a cycle or two, thanks so much!
My first blind run at this game was hilariously catastrophic. It’s crazy how fast things start collapsing. Basically on the day 4 freeze I got a bunch of sick people and ended up with 19 amputees. Totally killed my workforce, slowing production. And I couldn’t get anywhere close to prosthetics to get them back to work. I was basically in survival mode from day 4 onward and never even got to build the beacon. I love this game.
The answer has already been given, but yes. A Coal Thumper can supply two huts with coal. A Steam Coal Thumper can supply 4 huts with coal. You want huts because it keep the people alive. You can collect the coal without the huts, but then the workers will not have any way to get warm so they will get frostbite and overload the healthcare facilities. It is not recommended to gather from piles directly after the early game.
I'M sorry but this game, is just too hard.. I'm building 4 medical camps, everybody are still sick, people qre starving and so I build more cookhouses and hunting camps but NOTHING WORKS! People are still starving and getting sicker and it's just annoying at this point. Sure, the game shouldn't be too easy but damm that's juat impossible... People are getting sick no matter what i do and medical posts never works for some reason... Like, whatsapp?
Good question, I haven't tried that before but a quick search showed that it could still cause people to get sick. If for instance you have citizens that are not assigned to any jobs and they are staying home with the generator off, this might make them fall sick.. I think experimenting with it wont hurt:)
@@dalucaa I did but It gets tedious but it's better for not doing it in three beginning of the work day or the end but more or less in the middle for that little extra coal and also ever body works no manpower to waste

Thanks for posting this video very helpful im new to this game never played any economy management type game so this is all new and the fact that this game just throws you in with no help makes it even more frustrating im probably gonna start a new game after watching this
i can't beat the game on the easiest difficulty because i keep running out of resources non-stop, the good news is order is always high and discontent is always low, doesn't matter than all 6 resources are at 0 the blizzard always kills my game
So long as you put a good strategy together, in terms of the timing of the different events and the time of researching the required tools to prepare for those events, I reckon you should be fine. They key is in the research and installing the different tools you unlock. Keep trying, practice makes perfect :)
i seriously dont know wtf im doing. tried over and over. cant keep enough coal and shit just falls apart. freezing, sickness hunger i've had 486 population and just cant win.
NOt bad for a beginners guide, but lacking a lot of the better tips at the start (build your research building not in your first ring(better insulation so tents should go closer), you don't have to transform your food rations the first couple of days, they build after 18;00 but don't gather so build your shit mostly after that time, and so on...)
This video helped a ton.. first run through my myself my people died by day 4 😂😂😂😂😂😂 this video definitely made it much clearer what’s most important is to get the city up and running efficiently before worrying about what the people think they need right away.
@@dalucaa @DaLucaa Ah ok, I've only just started playing this game on my Ps5 for about the past week so I wasn't sure. I basically went in completely blind and I've had to reset my game several times but overall I'm enjoying it! I'm probably going to build the beacon next because I'm currently out of engineers and my citizens won't stop getting sick so I build medical posts but then I have to spread out my engineers across my tents but that reduces the efficiency of my posts and meanwhile more citizens get sick so I build more posts. Why can't my citizens just be chads like the scouts 💀.

Each coal thumper requires two gathering posts to service it to work efficiently. So yes! :)

Great stuff. Just bought the game, thanks.
excellent guide! i needed this, thanks
just figuring out how to build a road/path would help
Quick glimpse on how to build roads/paths at 14:25 :)
Lmao
@@dalucaa a very quick glimpse. lol. cheers mate. Another game i'll shelve.
My first playthrough was hell.
Thank you soooo much. Helped tremendously.
Great video!
Thanks!:)
Thank you so much!!
You're welcome!
LOOOOOL Just tried this and 25 people died and I got banished :D
2 years later and this has gotten me past 2 temp drops but the only thing is i gotta find steam cores now 😭😭
I was also wondering if it's a good idea to ration coal throughout the day and turn it on at night or is that a bad idea?
Good question, I haven't tried that before but a quick search showed that it could still cause people to get sick. If for instance you have citizens that are not assigned to any jobs and they are staying home with the generator off, this might make them fall sick.. I think experimenting with it wont hurt:)
@@dalucaa I did but It gets tedious but it's better for not doing it in three beginning of the work day or the end but more or less in the middle for that little extra coal and also ever body works no manpower to waste
Thank you, you helped a lot!
My pleasure:)
got this game for free years ago, had the chance to play it just today.
pog picking the game up again as they announced the sequel
Thank you so much
thanks man :)
No worries!! 😀
thanks for the guide... i was having a hard time getting the game going with a steady flow but after watching this .. its starting to make much more sense thanks for the vid. liked #666 creepy lol
I’m glad it helped :)
Very good, thanks!
Thank you!!
Nice, 👍
Frostpunk...or frostpunk2?
Thank you.
11 bit studios is the only game studio that Ive played their games 20 hrs straight.
Man I've play sooo many games 20 hours straight, Diablo 4 for one lol, or at least I try to it's harder to stay up late nowadays
i seriously dont know wtf im doing. tried over and over. cant keep enough coal and shit just falls apart. freezing, sickness hunger i've had 486 population and just cant win.
Damn i am playing this after last autumn dlc scenario . This one is lot harder than that dlc
I find the version on the App Store to be a year old - can I update somehow to the newest version if I download from the Mac App store?
I got up to day 18 pretty good but sadly ran out of coal
Thank you
NOt bad for a beginners guide, but lacking a lot of the better tips at the start (build your research building not in your first ring(better insulation so tents should go closer), you don't have to transform your food rations the first couple of days, they build after 18;00 but don't gather so build your shit mostly after that time, and so on...)
ok so my problem was I did not no gather posts give heat ty!
This video helped a ton.. first run through my myself my people died by day 4 😂😂😂😂😂😂 this video definitely made it much clearer what’s most important is to get the city up and running efficiently before worrying about what the people think they need right away.
How is that even possible
Is it good to start by building Gathering posts so your workers don't have to wade through snow nonstop?
Yes that would be the way to go. That’s the strategy I show in this tutorial so you’re ready for day 4:)
Thanks
Stupid game doesn’t even tell you you have to hover over the coal on the map to assign workers, tells you hardly anything that’s useful.
