The world changed, the cold hit everything so fast, our leadership declared a crisis of the highest level. The decison was made to pack our familes and whatever we could carry, in order to head north to find some respite from this frozen wasteland our homes had become. We lost many on our journey, men women children, our food supplies dwindled on a constant basis. We huddled together for what heat we could muster in our convoy. After many days/weeks/months (time is hard to keep track of these days) we found a giant crater, protected from the harsh winds. Our convoy had finally found its new home. We set up our generator and watched our leader delgate the tasks that needed to be done, resources were gathered and homes were built. Even in our new found haven we were not safe from the cold, we had reports that a massive drop in temperature was incoming, and to top it off people were already getting sick due to working through the night building our new home, but still we fought on. Food was our most pressing concern, our hunters would go out and gather food at night, the coldest of times, unfortunatley due to the drop in temperature we cannot even cook it. People are hungry and the children more so. The children....what role will they play in all of this i wonder, ive heard rumours that the leadership have a plan. The future holds hope but for now is bleak. I sit and i wonder how long we can keep this going. We have had reports the temperature may increase in a number of days, will we all survive to see it....

Lets be honest, that into easily ranks among the best, most hair-raising intros there are. (Hint: Watch in 1.5x - double speed and the music really hits different)
I know this video is over 2 years old. But it's July 18th 2022 & I'm watching this 😅 sad to say it's 112 degrees outside rn here in my town in socal. So no hot coco for me lmaoooo
You made a comment on how they went north, they may have because it was already real cold there so they had a better chance on finding a generator town.
They started building the generators North during the collapse of society to avoid interference, but above all, because of the large amounts of coal deposits in the Arctic.
So frostpunk is based on a real event in our history where the eruption if the Krakatoa volcano was so powerful and released so much ash and rock that it reduced global temperatures by at least 10 degrees for decades. A mini ice age did happen, but Frostpunk took this real event to a logical extreme.
I would absolutely watch this series all the way through, but this seems like a game that's spoilable. I promise you, though, that I'll come back and watch through the series the second I finish the game!
Perhaps because the generator wasn’t on at the beginning or on overdrive or on all the time, they slowly got sick. Or the game lied. Meaning even with the gen on heating homes, people still can possibly get sick.
So like when you assigned 15 engineers to a coal mining area what are they doing ? Like I know they’re gathering coal but what makes them different from workers ?
@@uziboozy4540 its worth playing, but be warned, its a sad game. the choices you make are not easy. If you come out on top, you have to wonder if it was worth it.
I'm curious how does the generator work. Like you could upgrade it to cover a large distance. But what about the houses near the generator? Wouldn't it be lava hot since the generator is producing so much heat to cover a large area as you upgrade it.
I know I'm late responding, but the story goes that the Winter/Snow came from the South, which is why they went north. It seems likely that the event that caused all this was from a pole shift, although they do also say the sun was dimming, so not sure ultimately.

I heard that regular uploads is great for youtube, without the let's plays uploads are not frequent on this channel. Are you sure a second channel is a good idea?
I think it's a double edged sword. - Regular uploads are good for channels, but not really when it's very different content. Here's what I found; People who were into the let's play were very engaged with it. Most people watched it within the 24hrs it was uploaded. The people who weren't into it, got sick of being notified for it and turned off notifications, or RUclips turned it off for them. This meant that a new video, that they may have been interested in, underperformed in the first few days and then picked up later as it got recommended. So this channel will have less frequent uploads, but it will have more uploads that are the same, rather than - let's play, news, diary videos, reviews, random DEI battles, multiplayer sessions, (it's all a bit muddled and I have people sub for all sorts of things I go without uploading for weeks) The real big thing too, is that companies thought I only get 4K views and upload like 1hr long videos, as when they looked at my channel thats what they saw. So I'd rather they see my most viewed content!

What's the difference between workers and engineers ?
Engineers are needed to work the technology building, the medical bay, and any building considered not to be "manual labour"

Why do they live lower in a basin? Eventually, they will be buried alive by the snow, right?
I'm curious how does the generator work. Like you could upgrade it to cover a large distance. But what about the houses near the generator? Wouldn't it be lava hot since the generator is producing so much heat to cover a large area as you upgrade it.
Personally I just imagine the reach is through laying pipes. Because if its an open air generator youd lose like 99% if your heat to the air
@@RepublicOfPlay Stupid me. There's no winter here so im kinda oblivious to pipe heating. Hahah now that you said that, yea it makes sense.
Worlds freezing. Let's go north. Not the equator where there still might be pockets of warmth from volcanic events.
I know I'm late responding, but the story goes that the Winter/Snow came from the South, which is why they went north. It seems likely that the event that caused all this was from a pole shift, although they do also say the sun was dimming, so not sure ultimately.
Also they sent some people south, they were wiped out so they sent people north After where there was more recources
Just gotten this game and it's been a very long time on a strategy /build game. . You have explained so much. I can not wait to get into it. Subscribed .
I "think" you can get much closer in to the people/buildings if you use the nvidia ansel feature
Wow just tried this! I didn't realise my GPU was compatible! It works!
So damn keen for this!
be back for frostpunk 2 bro!
My favorite part was him blabbing on and on and on and on and on
Mine too!
i need part 2 of this like, right now
Part 2 and 3 are on patreon! Episodes go live every 2 days for everyone else
Since chat won't be around to remind you this time, make sure you don't blow up your generators ;)
This makes me want to try this game.
Kid can work. I worked for my mother while I was a kid. These days parents treat kids as a burden and send them to schools that serve more like daycare centers. LOL
Sad!
headcanon: this is the same universe as arx fatalis
They moved north beceause there was a lot of coal there
47:39 no... lol.. there are hundreds of mobile games just like that which are all scams
..
.
If this game had war i wouldnt be interested.. im really enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of this
.
I cant wait to play it myself :)
.
Thanks for the good video 👍
did not expect that one but okay
I heard that regular uploads is great for youtube, without the let's plays uploads are not frequent on this channel. Are you sure a second channel is a good idea?
I think it's a double edged sword. - Regular uploads are good for channels, but not really when it's very different content.
Here's what I found;
People who were into the let's play were very engaged with it. Most people watched it within the 24hrs it was uploaded.
The people who weren't into it, got sick of being notified for it and turned off notifications, or RUclips turned it off for them.
This meant that a new video, that they may have been interested in, underperformed in the first few days and then picked up later as it got recommended.
So this channel will have less frequent uploads, but it will have more uploads that are the same, rather than - let's play, news, diary videos, reviews, random DEI battles, multiplayer sessions, (it's all a bit muddled and I have people sub for all sorts of things I go without uploading for weeks)
The real big thing too, is that companies thought I only get 4K views and upload like 1hr long videos, as when they looked at my channel thats what they saw. So I'd rather they see my most viewed content!
@@RepublicOfPlay Thanks for the insight, knowing that a second channel does make sense.
Minus 20 C is NOT chilly. That is straight death if you spend to much time in that temperature
I am curious for frost punk ass is Armin frost, punk, frost punk mean I’m curious what it is since I’ve heard ya songs and they’re pretty good. I wonder if the game can live up to the song expectations
I find this game very difficult I tend to make the wrong decisions all the time. furthest I've ever gotten was where the Londoners want to go back then the count reached to 100+ and I lost
A game pre test for the upcoming dictators of this world......
I want this game but thought I'd watch a lets play first, the second I saw you have to option to place where you want and build the roads any which way sol me
