Hah, I played the game for a few hours, it is really fun. What makes the coal usage increase is when you extend the range or the power of the heat of the generator. You did a good job on the explanation the basics on the game. I will be waiting for new uploads :D
This was one of those games where you really have to be in the learn to read and learn. The first time I downloaded it I uninstalled within an hour. But after coming back and taking the time it requires to learn, I absolutely love it.
What makes it actually difficult to learn is that the UI is for advanced players. and there was no tutorial to begin with. Good thing you made a video about it.
huh, i beg to disagree about UI. the game throws you in the game w/o actually telling you how everything works, but the UI once you figure things out is VERY self explanatory. If the UI in here is difficult for you then may i recommend CrusaderKings3 as it actually plays a tutorial and how to use the UI but you still end up overwhelmed by the complexity of the game. :)
If you wish to plan for the drop in temperature at the start, you can start off by first building the workshop (or two) before you build tents. That way you can quickly research faster harvesting, those steam heater thingies and normal heaters for buidings. By the time the cold comes, your buildings and workers are nice and hot.
I was having issues, caved, and looked up vids. The key that helped me was to focus so on the 3rd night nobody was on those resources who didn't have a steam hub in the middle of it. Dismantle and move it as I depleted it, but I had zero frostbite until well after my 15th day- instead of having most of my people being amputees, slowing research for the factory at a slow, having to immediately waste my 1 core for that factory, then cursing when I couldn't have enough steel and food and such to make the prosthetics that would allow the amputees to work! LoL Before that hint- only have people working where there's a steam hub and use heaters as needed at the much lower temps- I got to about 15 days and it just was done basically. Doing that one thing and my game I'm at 34 days- buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut I forgot to change to coal mining and I'm having issues with the -90 temps even with 3 automaton thingies. Just not enough coal being brought in so the heat keeps randomly shutting down. Next game I'll jump on that shit and send out a team earlier.
Thanks for this insight. I respect that you invested in equipment for this and your voice was perfect. This game me enough of a guide to get started without problem shooting. I gave you a like :)
"don't forget about steel" wish I knew that before xD but I didn't notice I was using so much so I went from 100 - 0 real quick, compared to wood, even.
crazy, i just found you recently from your Project Resistance builds, I just downloaded this game on gamepass and look up a guide and HERE YOU ARE AGAIN lol
Thanks a lot for posting this. I was wondering if your video would answer my question, and it did (streets don't require you to leave a space between buildings).
Thanks for the guide! I found your guide very helpful. Quite alot to take in when i began playing this game. This guide cleared things up for me! I'll check out the stream when you're live :)
My strategy is to prioritize hunting production and then balance coal and wood production, rapidly building a sawmill and a coal mine then searching until I find cores. As soon as I have cores I order my scout to return so that they don't get lost, and build additional coal mines. I only worry about building a drill on the wall once all the trees are cleared, but it's rare not to finish a game before that happens. Teching up your generator's range early is important, and increasing heat output before day 10 is important, as well teching up heaters. Remember to deconstruct buildings you no longer need, you can redeem resources that way. I managed to survive without abusing order too much so the ending I got was hopeful, it's easy to abuse order if you take it though. I've never tried the faith branch.
I don't really rely on range much tbh, too much of it is locked too far down the tree for early-mid game. You can do a lot with heaters and steam hubs.
Thanks for this. There doesn't seem to be a tutorial from what I could see, so I was completely lost what to do at the beginning of the scenario. It just dumps you into the game without any explanation. Is there a tutorial in the game somewhere?
Have you tried starting off with a research lab? I think that's the best way to start the game since you'll never go above -20 degrees after the 4th day.
Ive tried playing this my way, but if you aren't efficient, then it spirals out of control very quickly. I made it to Day 28 and restarted from saves as far back as 15 or so many times, but I was so far behind on researching and tech that I could not recover. (I got Factory by day 25 and did not have scouts until the day before the guy from Winterhome came and said he was the last one alive.
i rarely coment on videos but my god man your voice and how you talk is entertaining and how you can just spit unscripted thru shit. good shit i NEVER like videos, but you deserve as many likes! i was about to quote how youve been talking thru the video to show support AND show you what caught my ear lol good job
My problem is that even though I do all the research on heaters.... when I build them they r hot but the buildings around them r cold.... am I can’t seem to change that... also I build resource buildings..... but it says my coal is full even when I don’t have any....and it stops them gathering more even though I have people working in multiple buildings to collect coal..... apart from that I don’t have any problems
Roller coaster tycoon "I feel sick!" The best one was finding the person who is like " I want to go home" and throwing them in the water. It then says guest "152" has drowned
4-24-2022 i just started playing this game 🎮 I love it very unique only issues that I have is building layouts and cold 🥶 weathers I got the hang of it but its like I build coal then I run short on other things I build stell or food then I'm struggling on coal etc I have to find the balance of it I guess
How do i keep myself from running out of coal? I built 3 coal thumpers and I did emergency shifts on them and I still run out of coal running my generator at only lvl 1.
WiseSilverWolf the first 3 days you can let the generator be off but remember to turn on at night. If you have coal thumpers you need a gather hut becuse no one picks up your coal. You might have more than you thought
Thanks for the guide, Swing! Helped me a lot since i had no idea what to do and what not to at the beginning. I've got one question, though: if i choose the child shelter law, which option would be more optimal in your opinion between the medic apprentice and the engineer one?
I would always choose engineer: workshops max out at 4 whilst you can keep building medic centres to manage the sick - the research boost is invaluable
Jernat Moreau Gurgeh After a couple complete runs with both of 'em i agree with you. At first managing the sick was a problem for me since many of the citizens kept getting sick from the lack of heating, but after learning the ropes it's much easier to do that.
A correction, using overdrive does not cost anything.
That's what it seemed like. Had some twitch experts who never played the game before telling me in tripled it hahahahahaha.
Hah, I played the game for a few hours, it is really fun. What makes the coal usage increase is when you extend the range or the power of the heat of the generator. You did a good job on the explanation the basics on the game. I will be waiting for new uploads :D
This game is fackin' hell.. Lol
Another thing to mention is that the overdrive recovers over time.
I know it's late to say this, but it costs its lifespan if you don't turn it off. I count that as a "cost."
This was one of those games where you really have to be in the learn to read and learn. The first time I downloaded it I uninstalled within an hour. But after coming back and taking the time it requires to learn, I absolutely love it.
same experience, first time i got rid of it in 1 hour, now im 7 hours in and almost out of the storm with 2 playtroughs
same :D
"I don't want to make a 40 min video...in and out..."
*Makes 30 min video instead*
29 THANK YOU VERY MUCH
I Was Gonna comment this lol
Steve T well it’s not 40 min so..... 😝
He is right, it isn't 40 minutes.
came here for this, was not disappointed

@@icalculi don't bother. The guy just doesn't want to think.
I’m late but the UI easy tbh even as a new player (i myself am relatively new.) granted i play on console so idk if that makes it easier
@@icalculi I think that's what he's trying to say. Some players aren't getting to the latter stages without the trial and error.
The UI is really simple. There’s tooltips for like everything. If you want complicated UIs go play a paradox game
Your guide was longer than my first attempt at a playthrough, thanks from 2020 my dude!
Thanks for these tips. Without it, I was a human popsicle on day 8.
Haha, good one.
If you wish to plan for the drop in temperature at the start, you can start off by first building the workshop (or two) before you build tents. Just downloaded the game. Best guide I've found on RUclips. Thanks a million for this
Started a blind run on this and got pretty far but definitely didn't know what I was doing. Thanks for putting me in the right direction!
I went in blind at first, and after 3 anxious minutes said screw it and came here. I feel better now. Ready to resume. Thanks.
literally me
...and on Day 4 everything on my end went to shit 🥶
I was having issues, caved, and looked up vids. The key that helped me was to focus so on the 3rd night nobody was on those resources who didn't have a steam hub in the middle of it. Finally someone who actually explains the basics and Icons. Thanks
I was so lost playing this first time, now I’ll try again ...without the wines this time lol
Thanks!
I loved This War of Mine and so happy these devs are back at it
Thanks for this insight. I respect that you invested in equipment for this and your voice was perfect. This game me enough of a guide to get started without problem shooting. I gave you a like :)
Exactly what I was looking for, a quick explanation of what you’re doing & interface! Thanks for this!!
5:30 I swear to god I heard "Making these people not homeless by cooking people and building tents" LMAO that's one way to have less homeless people
this was one of the most helpful videos about frostpunk ive seen! thank you!
Perfect vid, exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
Lol Eliot or Ricky wuz here...
Trying out this game for the first time and I see my favorite channel on RUclips.
Oh crap this is hell on earth I just finished playing. Its difficult.
It is literally the theme of the game lol
That was awesome... Thanks for taking the time!
Thank you! I was building gathering posts in the beginning and wondering why I kept failing lol
Very helpful thank you man.
"don't forget about steel"
wish I knew that before xD
but I didn't notice I was using so much so I went from 100 - 0 real quick, compared to wood, even.
I got rollercoaster tycoon in a cereal box when I was a kid. Loved that game.
crazy, i just found you recently from your Project Resistance builds, I just downloaded this game on gamepass and look up a guide and HERE YOU ARE AGAIN lol
Thank you for the vid. I appreciate it. Not a lot of up front tutorial in this game, but I love it.
Thanks for the tutorial. Really helpful!
Hey, thank you for this. This was really helpful :)
You're so good with explaining. I wish you were my university lecturer
Good stuff man! Keep up the content! :D
it did help. Thank you very much man!
Thanks a lot for posting this. I was wondering if your video would answer my question, and it did (streets don't require you to leave a space between buildings).
Thanks. I seriously had no idea how to make things start happening! 😅
just got it... cant wait to get it going
Thank you for blurring out the late game info, you are a legend!
Helped me a lot, thanks.
Thanks this is useful as there is a big learning curve and it can seem daunting...at least to me it did.
This guide was amazing! Perfect for a starter like me :P
This really helped. Thank you =)
Thanks for the guide! I found your guide very helpful. Quite alot to take in when i began playing this game. This guide cleared things up for me! I'll check out the stream when you're live :)
Thank you. It helped a lot
I just started this game and found your quick tutorial very helpful! Covered the basics! Thanks!

Heard that compared to steam and heaters, generator isnt rly good... :/ including the range,apparently...
Reminds me of Diamond City from FO4 minus all the snow.
Awesome video thx
So for your streets does it give any buffs to people collecting like them getting there and back faster?
This game is amazing!!!
Joshua Understatement of the year!
Thanks, man!!
Thank you so much for this. Just bought it cheap as hell on sale and it had me so stressed out lol.
You're Intro with the meow=instant subscribe lol it's cute I like it.

How do you get the building warmer for them to work?
It's a good Good to know video. Bravo for you good tips for me to git gud
Thanks alot for the help 2 years later when I found out the game was for ps4 lol......Keep up the good vids bro
Super helpful video
nice video, well done
Thanks for this. There doesn't seem to be a tutorial from what I could see, so I was completely lost what to do at the beginning of the scenario. It just dumps you into the game without any explanation.
Is there a tutorial in the game somewhere?
thanks alot pal
Nice helpful video.
thanks much appreciated :)
Thank you
“There’s are getting warmer - which is cool!” @13:15
Have you tried starting off with a research lab? I think that's the best way to start the game since you'll never go above -20 degrees after the 4th day.
so what happens when youre out of wood crates? how do you keep making wood?
Ive tried playing this my way, but if you aren't efficient, then it spirals out of control very quickly. Yep it helped but do you have tips for further advancing to the game ? Could you make a vid with that ?
You can also alter the starting settings to 'easy', though I'm still failing horribly on Easy lol. The game is still fun though lmao.
how do you set to easy, i see no setting for that, thx
i rarely coment on videos but my god man your voice and how you talk is entertaining and how you can just spit unscripted thru shit. good shit i NEVER like videos, but you deserve as many likes! i was about to quote how youve been talking thru the video to show support AND show you what caught my ear lol good job
what do the yellow dots mean next to destinations when exploring?
Means it's a priority location to explore
in case anyone wants to know 18:00 is 6pm using the 24 hour clock or military time .
Hey guys, where can I get the resins early in the game? Cause I can't build the wood workship cause it need resins.
Bro first thing I thought of when you mentioned settlers names was rollercoaster tycoon..then you mentioned it ❤️🤣
This game makes me feel like some sort of mad scientist!

Pov: you came from epic games
yes
Take a shot for every time the speaker's eyebrows raise ;)
LOL, this guide saved me, I couldn't even figure out how to assign workers.
So, would you say that arithmetic skills are a prerequisite for this game?
ty
It's a must buy for PC owners. I hope that after they drop the updates and expansion that we see a sequel with a desert oasis type of setting.
It’s on console and PC
I just got this game. 24 brave souls did not wake up in the morning. Thank you for this tutorial.
4-24-2022 i just started playing this game 🎮 I love it very unique only issues that I have is building layouts and cold 🥶 weathers I got the hang of it but its like I build coal then I run short on other things I build stell or food then I'm struggling on coal etc I have to find the balance of it I guess
Thanks for the guide. I did notice you raise your eye brows a lot. Lol
How To Use Resource Depo??
How do i keep myself from running out of coal? I built 3 coal thumpers and I did emergency shifts on them and I still run out of coal running my generator at only lvl 1.
WiseSilverWolf the first 3 days you can let the generator be off but remember to turn on at night. If you have coal thumpers you need a gather hut becuse no one picks up your coal. You might have more than you thought
now should I watch this before I play or after I play?
after you play it just enjoy the blind attempt at survival
After. if you know everything and make no mistakes, the game is too easy. I knew almost nothing going in and still won my first attempt.
always out of woods! what should i do ? im newbie
So i selected Order and Discipline and it seems i need to setup a Guard Station but I dont see how
In the build menu there should be a new tab called order, watchtowers are the first ones unlocked so they should be there once you sign the law.
Cheers man, really helpful :D
"Lets say you have people being treated..... for being sick" Dang i thought they were being treated for a lack of dirt
Thanks for the guide, Swing! Helped me a lot since i had no idea what to do and what not to at the beginning. I've got one question, though: if i choose the child shelter law, which option would be more optimal in your opinion between the medic apprentice and the engineer one?
Depends on what you need at the time . Medic if you can't keep up with the sick, engineer if you are behind on research
SwingPoynt I see... Thanks a lot man!
I would always choose engineer: workshops max out at 4 whilst you can keep building medic centres to manage the sick - the research boost is invaluable
Jernat Moreau Gurgeh After a couple complete runs with both of 'em i agree with you. At first managing the sick was a problem for me since many of the citizens kept getting sick from the lack of heating, but after learning the ropes it's much easier to do that.
is the audio effed up?
everyone got banished ten times at least before embarking here.
Another tip: get coal asap your going to need it a lot when it gets colder always make sure you have a big suply of coal
