- Frostpunk is a wonderful if brutal survival building management game. Frostpunk takes places in an alternate timeline where the world is freezing and people are fleeing London in search of a new home. The game is quite but, but Frostpunk can be incredibly challenging. In this complete beginners guide to Frostpunk, I will explain to you the basics from the ground up by starting a brand new game so you can watch and even play along. I will explain the controls, the UI, the mechanics, how to build, upgrade, grow, explore, research, and survive. I detail my thought process, sharing tips and tricks along the way but I spoil nothing about the game or the story. I don't force a particular path or tell you to min/max, but rather help by providing the fundamentals so you can enjoy Frostpunk at your own pace. If you are thinking of buying the game and want to see early gameplay, or have purchased it but would like some pointers on the basics, this is the guide for you!

Old games sometimes didn't have tutorials. But they had a small book explaining the game. Not explaining anything is just ridiculous.

this game is super addictive, I'm replaying the same starting scenario over and over again and everytime it goes slightly different haha. think I've found the right channel to learn more about it, thanks for the great videos!

Goes a lot faster if you put speed at 1.75. Good guide bub my only advice is try to be a bit less verbose. In the words of a letter from Jefferson to Adams. "Forgive the length of this letter, as I did not have time to make it shorter"

Thank you so much for doing these videos. I played the game twice last night, the first time I was so lost that I had to quit and I'm in the middle of my second play through and I know I will be overthrown soon because I am behind on coal (and just about everything). I just couldn't understand how to play but your videos are really helping. I miss the days where I'd save up my pennies to buy the game AND the strategy guide sigh this is definitely a game where I'd buy a guide.

@@DrIncompetent I was up till 4:00 last night but I finished my second play through and survived (on easy mode though lol). I'm only on the third episode and definitely saw ways to improve my playthroughs (the gathering huts confused me lol I wasn't using them till I saw your video and it saved my game!). THANK YOU!
Is there a way to scroll through the people to see which one exactly is sick or an amputee and so on? So I can see if he's an engineer or kid or worker?
You can click on the building where the sick person is working and go to the workers tab to see who is sick. You can also click the icon at the bottom of the screen where it shows the crutch for example to see who is an amputee.
I put those kids to work on day 1! :)

This reminds me gameplay wise of the wandering village just harder and a ice age instead of deadly poison spores

Just got the game. Half population ended up sick and amputated and ended up starving all to death pretty much. Did not understand how important gathering posts are.

@@DrIncompetent yes if you want to call it by its technical name. Obviously coal can come in any shape as it’s broken off.
But for the average person when they think of coal they think of charcoal since almost no one living in 2023 has seen actual coal (unless they were naughty as a kid at Christmas jk 🤣)
Whereas most people have seen charcoal and therefore that’s what they think of as an image in their head when thinking of coal. And as developers of a game doing the design they have to come up with an icon that people can look at and know it represents coal as opposed to wood or steel. And so they choose the shape that is most commonly thought of which is yes, as you mentioned, a charcoal briquette.
In all honesty though I was jsut giving you a hard time as you’re clearly an intelligent dude and everyone has brain farts from time to time and seeing as at the end of the day it’s jsut semantics so it doesn’t really matter.
Anyhow, I just started playing the game and have enjoyed your video. I honestly wish it had been the first one I watched.

I'm stuck on chapter 5 holding around 5k peeps it's been insane yes I cheated the system for researching but over 250 hours I'm so hooked into now in chap 5 it's insane my next steps required. Wish me luck in that and frostpunk watching your guide on it now. Good stuff so far on part 2

just set the speed to 150% and it's much better
