Overall this is a great video for starting the game. I picked up some nice ideas from watching it. Congrats to the author! My suggestions are these. First, there is no advantage to having good hope and no discontent early in the game! And no penalty if you do lower hope a bit and have some discontent. That means the child laws are not urgent, unless you plan to put the kids to work. So beginning with laws to increase the work day, or make soup would help more in critical areas for the early game (more resources and food!) and not hurt you any. The same for research. I prefer faster gathering and getting a beacon early. You will get a nice food bonus from one of the early scout missions. Hunter buildings take a lot of workers, so just build what you need, extra food does not help you. You just don't want to run out of food.
One way to conserve Coal in the early game is to turn the Generator off at about 5am (it keeps heating for a few hours as it shuts down), and don't turn it back on until after the work shift is over. You can do this when the temp is no lower than -30. In fact, running the Generator all night with the Overdrive on between midnight and about 4am (the time the game generates new sickness), you can get by with limited housing for a couple of days, even on Extreme difficulty. That will give you a few extra days of time before your Coal runs low and forces you to research related acquisition techs. As for Laws, they are on a cooldown, and a new Law should be enacted as soon as it becomes available. There is almost always something useful to select, and if you are planning ahead, rather than reacting (having to bury a body, for example), it can save you a lot of trouble. 24:55 Never build heating areas that overlap so much. Instead, extend a street out vertically to place a Steam Hub optimally. Yes, that may leave small areas without heat coverage, but they are good places to keep open for Fighting Arenas and Resource Depots later on. ='[.]'=
I’m going to have a wild guess that you’re anticipating FP2 as much as I am 😎 also you should see my perfect run through on ‘The last autumn’ 😉 thanks again for a great comment/info 👍
Great tips. I’ve utilized resource gathering during working hours and use free time as build time since workers will still build during non working hours.
@@ruserious5598 this is a great plan of action I try to do this early game as well as it is an efficient way of getting your buildings up! Thanks for the comment 😊
Man, it made me tense beyond reason that you didn't choose the law within the first 10 mins of the first day. Extreme difficulty makes you nerves a wreck I guess.
Extreme is basically a different game in terms of punishment. I got Golden Path on Extreme and what can I say - never again. :D You have real good start strat here for intended way to play. Medical apprentices are indeed better, since they leave much more room for error, sustain life is usually better (with the exception of a certain different scenario) and you actually use sawmills - a lot of people don't use them and they are real good. Not sure about delaying beacon till that late, but again - for intended way it's completely fine. Rations for the ill and overcrowding are about the same if I recall - first one just needs you to keep things in mind and clicking that button, but can really increase the efficiency (corpse pit, medical assisances, extra rations, agitator/shrine and you are above 200%, what's not to love?). Liked, watched till the end. Wish you luck with YT algorithm!
@@HeathenSWolf thanks again for the comments and yes unlocking the Hyperefficient achievement is a joy! Well done on the golden path that is a brutal achievement to go for 😎 Kudos on attaining it
I went almost nineteen days doing my way. Like building a tech lab. Then researching fast gathering. Then researching Goal thumper. Then Hunter’s Hut. I don’t know. I feel there is a cue we haven’t figured out how to progress until the end. I even strategically researched the best I cN and failed almost reaching nineteen days. I only needed twenty to unlock the other game features. Aye aye aye. What killed me more is the longer colder days. 22F/30c is fine. You can turn off the gen during the day. If you’re using steam hubs, make sure you turn off 24 hours. I totally forgot to do this. Probably why I failed. Or the hope ran out 🤦🏼♂️. If it’s 40c, *only turn on steam hubs that you put the people in Emergency shifts* .
Steam hubs only need to be 24hrs for your residential areas but by 19 days you should have coal mining etc coal becomes a non issue even at steam lvl4 with the right research. Also the research speed buff of having 5 tech labs means your research speed is like 200% quicker! Thanks for the comment 😊
I do law of overtime and 24h and tec right away. I get heaters as my first tec or faster gather. Depending on what day it is. I also stay away from the children branch of laws. There is no say in you having to use it.
I just spent 2 hours on a blind(frustrating) first playthrough. I should have watched your video first. Would have helped me immensely. Thank you for the video! 😎👍
@@KnowitallGaming I had max workers working piles AND the gathering posts. And didn't have roads to my posts or tents(didn't know needed roads for power/heat). Also didn't know you could check heating in town. It was a disaster 🤣🤣
Never understood why people build hunter hunts close to the center taking up prime space. They don't need heat. Hunters hunt at night. I put them as far away as a can.
If you use generator range I agree, if you don’t not so much as steam hubs create your heat zones. Also no they don’t need heat but can get frostbite walking to work near the end. I end up heating them just because I like being kind even though it isn’t needed haha 😂 thanks for the comment

Would the people be oh kay if you don’t put the gen in overdrive? I know the gen will over heat (which is weird because it is very cold. Is it necessary?
20:00-05:00 is important to cover with overdrive if your peoples homes are chilly or below otherwise illness will skyrocket. It is a balancing act still though! Thanks for the comment
