I been an angeleno all my life ,and I see downtown Los Angeles as having so much potential to become this super city .But ,it seems there is no passion from city leaders / city planners and those below the echelon .In Texas just add water and you got a skyscraper overnight, Here in L.A ,takes years to sprout a building .I hate being political, but that's how I see it .Great video work sir ,hope to see more .
There are about 10 high-rises on the drawing board that have yet to be built in the very near future. L.A.'s underground Metro is expanding more and more. Pershing Square is to be revamped. A lot of L.A.'s progress has been handicapped by COVID. DTLA's restaurants and hotels have been really struggling because of the pandemic. I doubt that Texas's urban development is an "overnight' phenomenon. Houston has MANY infrastructure problems that it won't fix because it claims it doesn't have the tax base to cover it. Houston also has a rising crime rate with many ghetto areas. The Dallas Houston area has some of the worse traffic in the country. The state's House of Representatives and Senators along with the NIMBYS are all for killing any form of expanded public transit. Houston literally froze when the polar vortex hit because the power grid is so weak and not strong enough to withstand inclement weather. As a result, water pipes burst wide open all over the city in homes and apartments because they weren't reinforced and there were approximately 150 Texans that froze to death. I agree with you that downtown has the potential to be a super city. The variety of beautiful legacy buildings combined with the new ones going up is impressive. As they say, it's always greener on the other side and Rome wasn't built in a day.
@@antoniahamilton3201 ..I appreciate your reply .I been to Dallas, and Houston, and I was quite impressived, especially with the widen modern freeway system of elongated on/off ramps, and huge bridge that contributes ease traffic flow .But then I see LA ,especially the 110 freeway ( downtown) for example ,it seems like its stuck in the 1950s ,with decaying cracking concrete bridges, and with dying weeds and overgrown shrubs on the sides .It looks embarrassing. And I often read urbanize LA, and notice all the projects that are coming in the pipeline, hopefully. But I also noticed all the red tape and hoops a developer has to go through with the state ,and city to get a idea off the ground. And I question if I were a developer, would it be worth it ? The time ,and money of waiting for the city to approve a project. Maybe I'm wrong and see things from a different angle But I just wish there was more momentum in LA, to get things moving. I see a smaller city like Austin, popping up 800 footers ,and even one taller building ( red rock ) than the library tower in few years .Its just frustrating , well have a great day.
@@antoniahamilton3201 LA is awful thanks to the politics you can't deny that, this is the same problem that keeps LA from changing when Angelinos are told of the problems with the city they dismiss it and bring in their pride you sound more like Governor Newson instead of addressing the problems you just keep saying how good it is ignoring how worse it has got over the years homelessness, crime, and corruption.

Read the chapter names
@@isaacalcala808 he does not describe what street he is on or describe what is around him. That could be a better guide
