L.A. resident here. One thing I would tell someone if they're visiting Los Angeles for the first time (as a tourist), don't know anyone locally, and may be uncomfortable with how traffic is, just book tours for your trip. No stress, and they'll pick you up and leave you off at different tourist spots without getting lost or in a car accident. A very efficient use of your time, especially for short visits. On subsequent visits, once you know the ropes, then try driving to things on your own.

Best advice for those flying in to LAX that want to take the light rail towards Downtown LA - please don't its sketch( Ie. green line to blue line it cuts through/transfers in Compton not safe), my suggestion is look up FlyAway bus ($9.75 one way - worth it). Big Blue charter bus will take you straight to Union Station in DTLA, a better place to centrally start and of course starting points for red line and other rail lines at Metrolink and Amtrak. A good safe pick up space for uber/lyft.

good advice, but the green and blue lines aren't that bad, and the transfer is at Willowbrook/Rosa Parks, super busy station during the day, and a good alternate is green line to Harbor Freeway station, and transfer to the Silver line to DTLA, faster/cheaper especially when the LAX people mover is up and running, of course all of this only applies for daytime travel around LA

Hi Chris, I went to LA recently and had no problem taking buses as a tourist - I got the TAP card app and used Google Maps for directions and it was pretty smooth!
I should add that the subway was VERY dirty and sketchy on my opinion, mainly after dark, but it is, along buses, by far the most economical way for getting around.

Great job! I think you should do a 2024 version of this video. I recommend also having a “Getting In” section for those who may not be from L.A. There are 5 airports in the area, LAX, ONT, SNA, LGB, and my favorite Hollywood Burbank Airport! I would recommend to avoid LAX if flying in from a city on the West Coast that has direct flights to other airports like Burbank. Also mention about driving, around 2 hours to come in from San Diego, 4 hours from Las Vegas, and 5-6 hours from both the SF Bay Area and Phoenix. I also recommend editing your section on the Metro, especially since ridership is much lower than before the pandemic and how much crime there are on the trains these days! Keep up the wonderful work!

Mexican food. Thai food. Chinese food ( San Gabriel valley). Little Tokyo. Little Ethiopia. The choice of food is the most varied. The only other places with the same variety are also California cities - San Diego , SF.
This of course doesn’t mean other cities don’t have their specialties after all no one talks about LA pizza. But no one talks about New York Thai food know what I mean.
If you want variety LA is the place .
    San Diego has great Italian!
Two great free places are Griffith observatory and the Getty villa ( you pay for parking and need a reservation).

Regarding the Mexican food, if you go to a restaurant with the word "taqueria" in it, it's likely to be more authentic than the usual Mexican American chain restaurants. There's a saying regarding ethnic restaurants, if the restaurant has a lot of people of the same ethnicity as the restaurant, it's likely to be a great, authentic restaurant and that is usually true of the taquerias in Southern California.

Hi! Can you help me/us with parking in Los Angeles ? I am terrified about it...I plan trip to Los Angeles/ renting a car but instead of cheer my time on a beach I will be anxious about prices :( I am from Europe where prices (and earnings) are not so high so Los Angeles scares me

When we visited back in June last year we were totally shocked how gloomy and cool the weather was on the beach (St Monica) yet when we did Hollywood Boulevard is was actually hot and sunny, complete contrast yet only a few miles apart.

Most of the Valley is within LA City limits. And best not to confuse it with the San Gabriel Valley, home to arguably the best Chinese food in America.

LA is NOT a dessert. We're a Mediterranean climate - hot, dry summers and cool wet winters :)
Also, the Mexican food supremacy is real. My favorite is Las Fuentes in the Valley

@@YellowProductions How curious. I highly recommend you to visit Santiago of Chile, and then visit it again 5 years later. Everything is always changing, even the most historic landmarks. I myself remember 3 quite different designs of the city's main square, and there were others before.
There's a video here in RUclips called "Carradine BIO." A recording of a 70s improvised song by David Carradine (the guy was high, and it shows :-) in which he tells about his "good old L.A." In his autobiography Endless Highway he also describes the city of his childhood (San Fernando Valley, actually). I think nothing of that remains now; it would be interesting to check how much the place has changed from the 40s until today.
      Nice videos you make. Congrats.✌

Only a desperate tourist would waste his/her hard-earned money and precious vacation time in a rundown, expensive, and dangerous place like LA. Yes, there is a way to do LA in style, but it would literally cost you an arm and a leg.
P.S. Taking the public bus in LA for a tourist amounts to a guaranteed invitation for an assault (verbally, emotionally, financially, and/or physically). And don’t count on the police to save your behind either; they are normally nowhere to be found but the most affluent neighborhoods.
