- At 10:00 p.m. on a wooden bridge over Waller Creek in Austin, Texas, two shocks of orange hair lit up the night. The musicians in Lucius gathered to perform our first South X Lullaby. Clad in matching blue onesies and jackets, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig sang "Dusty Trails," the closing song off their brand new record Good Grief, backed by Dan Molad, Andrew Burri and Peter Lalish. It's a song about finding your way in life, and growing older without losing hope. It is reassuring in its fortitude, and ceaseless in its hope. They fork into a three part harmony with guitarist Burri that splits the night as they sing "We'll be alright." They break down to an a cappella section that ends with the line, "Some may say / when you go halfway / you only have halfway to go." So we found Lucius - on a bridge, between one creek bed and the other, bringing us all the way home.

Here I sit, a 55-year-old dude, with a cd collection of 9000 pieces, mainly consisting of Jazz - and these amazing youngsters bring me to tears. I need a Lucius dose daily...
his dudeness I'm not far behind at 45yrs and 3800pcs, 300LPs, 600cassettes, 90 45s, but these girls, their accompanyists, some other groups like JD McPherson, Black Keys, all show men originality & truth in music is still alive & can still transcend.
67 this year. Didn't hang on to all the vinyl. I could not agree more. They are not quite like anyone else. Hard to do. It is such a pleasure to find some music that doesn't bore me.
I encountered them for the first time as they backed Roger Waters on his last tour "Us + Them". Their rendition of "The Great Gig In The Sky" brought me to tears and ever since I have loved everything they do. I'm nearly 40 and I can't get enough of them now.
Lucius is brilliant, I saw them live and it was breathtaking.
same. One of the most memorable and magical concert experiences I've ever had.
It gets no better than this!!!
I cannot stop listening to this.
I wish I could like this video evertime I come back to it
I discovered them recently! I have no words, only love! I know they will keep growing! xoxo
2:52 gave me chills. So beautiful.
Always get goosebumps when they hit those big notes, so powerful but yet so delicate.
I also gotta thank Cameron Crowe and roadies for introducing me to this band.I've fallen so hard in love with them.can't wait to see them in November!
those notes god, they just cut through. I love them so much and I just discovered them a couple of days ago.
They are so amazing, I can't believe how they can actually almost sound better live than they do on a studio recording.
How does this only have 30k views!? I've watched this probably like 30 times.
The only band I have heard that I like every song on both of their albums.
Love!!!
Shockingly good...ugh
Unexpected and just lovely.
If you like this, you'll love their version under the rotunda of the Minnesota state capital building. Can't wait to see them in DC next month.
Gorgeous!
I love Lucius!
Truly splendid
"Dusty Trails"
We been gone for such a long time that I'm almost afraid to go home
A long road is a long dragged out imagination where things can go wrong
But we keep rolling on
I know I'm no doctor but if I was guessing I'd say it was just growing pains
And painful as growing is we can't forget it's our ticket to taking the reins
And we'll all be okay, we'll be okay
Dusty trails can lead you to a golden road, I've been told
Can't remember who it was but all she spoke
Will a penny for her thoughts leave me broke
Cause everyone's around and I'm still alone
Everyone's around right now and I'm still alone
It's all in the manual that we've been writing a future instructional guide
If we skip to add to our prefufilled dreams we'd be lost without our own advice
We'll be alright, we'll be alright
Dusty trails can lead you to a golden road, I've been told
Can't remember who it was but all he spoke
Will a penny for his thoughts leave me broke
Cause everyone's around and I'm still alone
Everyone's around right now and I'm still alone
I'm halfway to misery
Some say when you go halfway there's still plenty of time to return
Oh am I halfway to heaven
Some may say when you go halfway you only have halfway to go
Dusty trails can lead you to a golden road, I've been told
Can't remember who it was but all he spoke
Will a penny for his thoughts leave me broke
Cause everyone's around and I'm still alone
Everyone's around right now and I'm still alone
Who could possibly dislike this?
+xTheOxx My guess is people who resent being made to weep for beauty even more than I do.
How do they do that?!
They just broke me down on my *first listening*. NOBODY does that.
So, that's one more reason why I must love Lucius.
The Girl's great physical beauty, sadly is wasted on me, because their voices compel me to close my eyes to better savor the sound.
+Swan Electro Not sad at all, yo. The way it should be.
+Steve G
you're right. Sure I'll put up a front, and bitch about that stuff, but the real truth is, I wouldn't want it any other way.
Superb!!
Yay, Lucius!!
It's like New York, Tennessee and Louisiana had a beautiful baby.
❤️
