This version of this song was me and my wife’s wedding song
Was one of the seating songs for our wedding as well.
So beautiful- thank you for sharing! Bless you in life 😊
Its the best
I love those moments when you realize there's brilliance to still be discovered.
Ever time I watch this I smile ! Trying to work through some really bad depression & songs like this help. Bless you & bless Dave Davies.
I have watched this video countless times, and for reasons I can't explain, viewing it is always an emotional experience for me.
I've watched this over 30 times and it still makes me tear up.
the way they sang the last line... "two" while harmonizing and "one" in unison I love that shit!
+Cody Abel Right?! Chills.
Totally agree. Lovely illustration of the lyric.
If it wasn't for you, I would've never appreciated it the way it should have been. Like!
I am tired of all the idiots - at almost all live music these days - who feel the need to shout "WOOOOO!" at every pause in a performance. Why does your enthusiasm trump my focus on the music?
@@camplethargic8 Not that big of a thing to be upset about but I hear ya... I guess............... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Lucius's take on this tune, a haunting reminder of how vital Dave Davies was in the Kinks mystique. And they perform it so well, enough to bring Dave to tears. I came back to it tonight after last hearing it years ago, while enjoying a Lagunitas brew and wondered if Dave ever heard it, such a rediscovered oddity from the obscure Lola vs Powerman LP, a track I hope lives forever. This vid is a gem, guaranteed to change your mood. I doubt that many in that crowd were born when Dave Davies recorded 'Strangers', yet the audience is captivated by Lucius and their magical performance down in Petaluma CA.
Wow !! Amazing song , perfect performance! ! All respects paid to Dave Davies and the Kinks ! one The most influential Bands of ALL TIME ..
Great way to touch your fans hearts and love: get in the middle of them and sing! I loved being a part of this with you Lucius
This is the best cover of this Dave Davies song I've ever heard...
wye oak does a pretty dern good one. but this one definitely can cut the onions and choke a person up. those harmonies are breathtaking.
Thank you. . . my sentiments. . . I must research these 2 - hope Dave has been exposed to this. . . certain he'd get goose-bumps like I did :)
Dave would be very proud.
I’ve been coming back and listening to this for 6 years and it’s still as beautiful as the first time I heard it💚
Excellent cover! Beautiful vibe
when I'm in the right mind, this makes me cry every time.
God I fucking love them.
It's my opinion that they were supposed to sing the first verse in unison, but accidentally sang the first line in harmony; they immediately change back to unison. That's why they're exchanging smiles and knowing glances at the beginning. I think harmony just comes so easy for them that they forgot :)
I love that Jess can't stop smiling the entire time. Lucius are so goddamn good.
I love the way Jess throws her head back and sings with her eyes closed. Reminds me of the little kids singing in "A Charlie Brown Christmas."
I discovered this video for the first time. It made me cry. What a heartbreaking version of this Song. I'm so touched. So beautiful. ❤
Yes, they put a lot into it. It's onne of the best covers along with Nora Jones.
I’m a huge Kinks Ray Davis fan. I always thought it was funny that my favorite song of theirs would be a song written by Dave. I don’t make that choice lightly. Good cover love the their vibe.
Great performance of this beautiful Kinks song!
Literally brought tears to my eyes
Right there with ya, man. *sniff*
LagunitasBeer Many shed during editing. The power of the performance is outstanding.
Same here mate!!. Cheers from Chile.
Such a beautiful live performance
"And if I feel tomorrow like I feel today, we'll take what we want and give the rest away". Hell of a line. The Kinks are a criminally underrated band. Good to see a deep cut done justice.
Didn't know how to pronounce Lagunitas until I saw this video.
I love everything about Lucius. They are original in many ways and their unbridled joy at what they do in infectious.
Lovely performance of one of the world's greatest songs!
Utterly sublime.
that is pretty much one of the most simple but best, fresh, awesome GOOD VIBE song /performance I heard in age... and these girls voices together combines perfectly, like WTF WOW.
Beautiful cover of Dave's classic! Thanks for sharing.
from a kinks fan,i just love this
+jimmy higham same feeling here.
I read that Ray Davies said he won’t touch this song again after they did this with it
@@cvisenti haha nice try, it's Dave's song and he does it every show he does
G DiMo nice try?? As I was trying to do what? Maybe what you say is true. I’ve never been to a Kinks show. All I was doing was reporting what I’d heard about his reaction to Lucius’ version. No agenda of deceit
Not even a big kinks fan. AND I LOVE IT!
The Kinks are one of the best coverable.
Just so everybody knows - this song is going to be on the deluxe version of their upcoming album, Good Grief. Buy it.
They are flawless.
It's a real delight for the ears, there are voices that go together perfectly.
My favorite band playing my favorite Kinks song
Oh, how I love their vocals!
I've listened to this dozens of times. Always moves me. Just brilliant.
Beautiful cover of a beautiful song! Wow - just chilling!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these girls...Great cover. Wish'in i coulda seen ya at ACL Fest!
kinks fan all my life, this is an amazing cover wow!!!
I just hope Dave Davies got wind of this and heard it. For he and his brother Ray have managed to touch a lot of people with their songs, many who were not even born when the tunes were released.
Indeed
I am watching 'Big Sky' the TV series and they played this song, 'Strangers' at the end, I fell in love with it. I never hear this song by the, 'The Kinks', Lucius you are both phenomenal singers, you are now on my play list.
This performance left me speechless, my favourite song reinvented.
I always knew that if you gave the cast of The Simple Life long enough, they would reinvent themselves and teach young ppl about the Kinks. Everyone laughed at me.
I can't believe how great this band is
listened to this 30+ times, always guts me.
My favourite band overnight, sad it took me so long to discover them.
I've become a huge Lucious fan. Love eem!
Cool to cover an old Kinks tune!
Koolest Kinks Kover!
My new favorite group. Can't wait for the new album.
Been waiting for some thing like this
Beautiful! Harmony is wonderful. Challenge is wonderful. The bringing me back to India via this certain song since Darjeeling is really hard. Miss you Miss India!!!

This is just amazing!
just found this today, what an amazing cover.
Just awesome.
That was fantastic!
When I listen to this beautiful, melancholy masterpiece I always think that deep down he wrote it about his brother
thanks, just a great cover, how many people realise how great the kinks really are.......?
some of us...
WHOA...Ray Davies has asked me to tell you he enthusiastically approves this cover. Said Ray,: "After hearing THIS, I very well might never play this song again because I couldn't do it better."
QueerAndUnplugged It's been a month and we still can't believe the awesomeness of this comment … thank you. Cheers!
QueerAndUnplugged Ray Davies never played this song, it`s a Dave Davies song - the better looking and more talented younger brother
mergerist You had me until "more talented". Awesome cover and I hope they play it opening for the Decemberists in Berkeley tomorrow. But please, Dave more talented than Ray? I love the Kinks and both of the brothers, but that's just absurd.
But I'll give you better looking for sure!
maxbobness
Yeah...there's NO way Dave Davies could be characterized as "more talented" than Ray Davies. They're not even on the same planet.
LagunitasBeer
Hey...thanks for your comment. Cheers.
I love how they give emotion to the song. It is so real. Also great collaboration with black pumas recording this.
Outstanding cover and clever video.
here from 2022, i saw them perform this at hardly strictly in sf, and they brought out marcus mumford and it was amazing. as they all had individual mics, they were really able to belt some of their high notes
This just beautiful
And only just listening this now? My God where have I been?

nomadtraveller100 This ones great.Plus the channel is really great.
See at 2:09 that red head girl's display of absolute joy at those harmonies is one of my favourite parts of this.
Not sure how I ended up here, but sure this is good!!
Joyful
Wonderful
Toooooooo good x
Crowd filming, I like it, nearly as much as I like MAXIMUS - the strongest Ale you can buy without a prescription, as they say.
Out the park.
