THANK YOU so much for checking out this Scrapped episode on the Little Mermaid ride! We are SO close to our Instagram giveaway!! Make sure to follow to enter!!
As a huge little Mermaid fan I would adore the original, but I can understand why they didn't make it, the Ursula parts would have been way too scary. That being said, still one of my favorites.
@@Jogjosmowwdkfs glad i could help! i myself spent years thinking i dreamed this and it didnt actually happen but then i saw a video about it and was like "woah wait omg i didnt make that up"
This ride has literally haunted my dreams for *years* ! I have had at least three dreams about going on this ride or the ride being announced throughout the 10+ years I have known about this concept! I'm so mad they couldn't make this one! But I do understand why it was cancelled. I prefer the original concept.
There are certainly good parts in both. I like that the original would have shown Ursula's demise and the concept of having riders feel like they are in an under sea chariot is pretty amazing as well. It's certainly darker than what we got. Both rides seem to capture different aspects of the movie. Many people remember it for the happy ending and cheery songs, but it's also fairly dark and scary in parts. I think the only real way to do the movie justice would have been to combine the two, making it far too long.
I will say that I do like how the version we got is in chronological order...while the original mock up was mixed to get a rise of emotion from the rider
Its a shame that it was never made. The experience to seemingly go under the sea as shown in the video would have been unreal. It does seem a little long for a ride though so I get that,. Whats your favourite ride at Disney? Mine WAS Captain EO. So much 80s in that ride. was amazing. ( i only ever rode the rerelease but still amazing! ) Like finding an 80s movie you have never seen
WHAT!! I so want the original ! It was so much darker and more detailed !! In my opinion you could feel like you were there when each scene happened which would’ve been AWeSoME! It really is a shame that it was never made😞
What's a BIG shame is that the original HAD the climatic battle with Ursula...the new version is a cutout you pass by a few seconds shoved in the corner behind props...
In my opinion I like the original but the problem that I have with it is it seems a little dark. It seemed like the ride was more Ursal, when it should be Ariel. At one point in the ride it looked like a giant 40 foot Ursala was looming over the guest, and if I was 5 I would be terrified.
I do love the attraction that we have now, but I can't help to wonder what could have been with that other concept. Watching the simulation of the original idea was very interesting when you're so used to the original ride. (Also I'm glad I'm not the only one who HAS to ride it every time I go to Disney lol)
Love the little mermaid! I wonder though if the scrapped version was not kid friendly enough that they changed it. I know as a kid some of those segments would've terrified me
The original looked promising but I choose the new Under the Sea Adventure as it’s the improved version of the attraction. Thanks ChrisCrossMedia. Oh by the way, did you hear about America’s failed attempt at making a Godzilla film back in the 1980s? It would sound like a great idea for a SCRAPPED episode.
it's kind of spooky because I had a dream ( and dont ask why or how) that the whole ride got totally renovated and it look almost exactly like the concept
I think you could retitle the video to "SCRAPPED The Original Little Mermaid Ride" or "SCRAPPED Original Concept of The Little Mermaid Ride" so that people like me don't get confused and comment "Wait this ride got built, how is it scrapped" after clicking the video. As for me, I do prefer the one we got with Ariel's Undersea Adventure.
Wow, they put a lot of effort into that mockup! They must have been pretty far into the development. Do you know any other ride mockups like this for rides that were never made?
Just found this channel and video now--but I've been obsessed with this ever since the DVD release. I'm glad we got a ride in the end, and I do like it. But much prefer the original concept which seems like a genuine update of my beloved Fantasyland dark rides--the individual cars (which I get it--are terrible for getting as many people through the ride as possible) the crash doors, the fact that some scenes (Kiss the Girl) aren't in film order but work for the ride concept and the fact it's not afraid to be *scary* are all big pluses for me.
are you sure that’s an Original Scrapped idea for a ride? cause if i’m not wrong that’s just a feature in the DVD version of the movie where you like ride an attraction like this
Never been to Disney in my life. But the original seems much more lively. And I like how it tells the story in depth. But it doesn't drag on. That's just me though xD
@@ChrisCrossMedia oh gosh. Thank you for replying!! And one day I hope! Just hard because I'm not in Florida or California :c But I can binge watch your videos to get the next best thing :D
@@ChrisCrossMedia TBH I like them both for different reasons I like how they fleshed out Ursula more casue in the one we got its like kiss the girl and then it just skips to the end with like one little image of Ursula being struck by lightning but overall I like the one we got better

I think the Little Mermaid ride would be fun to go on.
I love this attraction
I definitely Love Original but love the current ride too I wish i could visit Walt Disney world or Land
As a huge little Mermaid fan I would adore the original, but I can understand why they didn't make it, the Ursula parts would have been way too scary. That being said, still one of my favorites.
Yeah, I get it too...kids these days don't want to be scared on their Disney trips
My mom said the first time I ever went on Snow White, the Evil Queen turning into the hag made me scream and cry haha, in my defense I was about 2
I really like the original and the fog layer with blue laser to make it seem like you're Under the Sea. It would have been So much Better!
I'm a sucker for fog and lasers
I think it was revamped for children. That original would scare a kid
@@Jogjosmowwdkfsyeah as a kid i used to watch this concept over and over on the dvd and id always duck under the covers at the ursula parts
@@ethereal.horror you unlocked a memory for me I didn’t realize I had!
@@Jogjosmowwdkfs glad i could help! i myself spent years thinking i dreamed this and it didnt actually happen but then i saw a video about it and was like "woah wait omg i didnt make that up"
Man it would've been mind blowing
The seaweed is always greener, in somebody else's lake...

Maybe someday at another park...but unfortunately it's unlikely

The original if it was real the big Ursula might of scare children while the undersea adventure is family friendly and kids don’t get scared.

My theory with the giant Ursula concept wouldve likely been like the King Kong animatronic in kongfrontation
My favorite special feature on that DVD
I will never forget watching this for the first time!!
I got scard too much wen I was a little kid I was sooo scard

OMG right? It's a must ride for me
The video that you showed of the concept I watched so much as a little kid
Love the little mermaid! I wonder though if the scrapped version was not kid friendly enough that they changed it. I know as a kid some of those segments would've terrified me
That's my guess too...which is ironic because almost ALL of the classic Disney dark rides were riddled with segments that were "scary"
Same
Well the original little mermaid wasnt exactly for young kids
Oh my... Both of these are amazing! I can't even decide to keep the original or to keep Undersea Adventure
I sure have! Will likely do an episode soon on that

The scrapped version was cool, but a bit out of sequence.
I liked the original so much! But I feel the final battle part of that ride would have been to scary for little kids
Dam the orignal looks dope
Sure did didn't it!
The most epic version original is the best and coolest and scaryest version ever
Wow, they put a lot of effort into that mockup! They must have been pretty far into the development. Do you know any other ride mockups like this for rides that were never made?
There are...a few....stay tuned!

The original one could be superior in my opinion due keeping the pace of what is going on

We all love the original one hopefully one day the day will come and they remake the ride
Is there a place where I can watch the ride videos speratly by chance?
No wonder that was scrapped.
haha you didn't like the original?

Ive seen videos over the ride.but i did'nt know there was suppost to be a other one.
Ursula is my favorite character ever & I would have loved to see her in Godzilla form but oh well.

The original one is the best version ever it’s spooky and asome
Do winnie the pooh ride SCRAPPED because it was scrapped 2 times until 2001 closing the country bears jamboree
Oh bother...
ChrisCrossMedia lol
well Original video becues when you go undeesea
You "do" in the new version..but the effect was much cooler in the original
The original is certainly more interesting
I like the under the sea adventure better because it has more movement of anamontronics
You guys should make it
@ChrisCrossMedia I KNEW IT!!!!
You know everrrrything
Tell me why the original is so much better?
Becuse it’s the best version
Original became it look cool
To be honest I work for the the one that we have
Ah, I remember whenever I heard about this ride I would nag my mum and dad to go there. :=v
Yeah Disney did a terrible job on the ride. Kiss the girl scene. Need a upgrade animatronics look like. Nothing like the movie.
Original all the way
In my opinion i think that the original is better
I saw that. She didn’t have 🦷
