    Dallas fired their HOF head coach before the season and replaced him w/ a pumpkin.. and then started this game w/ 3 straight turnovers and down 21-0 on the road in Candlestick. The fact they did all that and still made a competitive game out of this shows just how ungodly dominant they were during this time. This rivalry was just awesome.

    You could basically say the Super Bowl was already over when the playoffs started. Nobody was beating Dallas or San Fran, the NFC Championship was THE SUPER BOWL, and the game 2 weeks later was just a consolation prize for the winner of this game. In terms of star talent, these teams were absolutely LOADED! This almost mirrors Super Bowl 13. So many legendary players, so many hall of fames. I can safely say, I was proud to be a Cowboys fan after watching this game, yeah, being down 21 really ends the game, but they kept fighting back, and played a better game after they spotted San Fan 21 points, when Dallas started scoring, they immediately took all the momentum out of San Fran and got right back into the game. It’s interesting to note, that the number 1 defense of San Fran, gave up over 400 yards running and passing.

    • @deebo1103
      @deebo1103 Год назад +1

      And half of that was to 88. You can see the cowboys resolve from this loss at the start of the 95 season, they just rolled over everyone.

    The 49ers were ready for this game mentally and physically. They had to go and get everyone in free agency like Gary Plummer, Ricky Jackson, Bart Oates, Ken Norton Jr, and the crown jewel Deion Sanders to compete with the Cowboys, but it worked. The 49ers were ready and the Cowboys were not especially physically. Larry Allen had an ankle sprain that Ricky Jackson took advantage of against Larry Allen. Emmitt Smith was nursing that hamstring injury. You could just see in that first drive how nervous the Cowboys were and the 49ers pounced on the Cowboys mistakes. I can say one thing is if Jimmy Johnson was coaching that team, the Cowboys don't go down 21-0 after 3 possessions. Jimmy would have had that team ready mentally.

    So many people accused Eddie D of buying a Super Bowl with all the free agents he signed to short term deals. But if you recall the first TD was made by the one guy in the office secondary that didn’t make the Pro Bowl. Eric Davis picked Aikman. Then Jerry Rice “ass raped” Larry Brown (who claimed to OWN Jerry Rice if you think about it none of those free agents were all that influential in the way that game ended. 49ers were on a mission…. They were sick and tired of the unbeatable Cowboys just like they were in 1982!

      Never would have happened if Davis jammed him at the line of scrimmage and you have Toi Cook covering up high, but they allowed Ervin to have a ridiculous amount of a running start and he made a in move that froze both then just went past the two backs.
      This is one of the reasons why the Cowboys were able to beat the Niners in the previous two NFC championships. I've always thought big plays being given up (like the Alvin Harper play) by the Niner secondary and it showed its ugly head again on this play. Of course they added Deion Sanders and look how big he was against Michael Ervin in this game. If it wasn't for Sanders, Ervin or Harper would have had another big play or two on the rest of the Niner secondary

      @@Armis71 San Fran had a good opportunity to stop Dallas on that play, and with the momentum they had, it could’ve been 28-0 and that really could’ve put the game away. But when Dallas scored, so did their momentum, but San Fran could’ve easily added 7 after Dallas had missed their field goal, but they only added 3, next Dallas possession, Dallas gets 7 after a fast count to catch the 49ers off guard after the 2 minute warning, and it worked, after San Fran finally scored a touchdown, after being unsuccessful since their third possession of the game, Dexter Carter botches an easy kickoff catch, and Dallas got into in their own territory and they easily got 7 afterwards, San Fran got their last points in the whole ballgame in their first possession in the 3rd quarter, Dallas got the ball in the fourth, and scored, and that was it, Dallas got over 400 yards in passing and rushing combined, San Fran only got 1 complete 80 yard drive, and that was their last. They were held to 21 points in the 1st, 10 in the second, 7 in the third, and held scoreless in the fourth.
