2021 BMW X3 Review: Is It The Best Compact SUV/Crossover ??

- This week I spent some time with the 2021 BMW X3 (S Drive 30i) !! What a fantastic compact SUV/Crossover, especially in the high 40's low 50's price range, these things are hard to beat. I really enjoyed the new iDrive 7 and Live Cockpit Pro... BMW has really stepped up their interiors, particularly regarding tech and safety features, over the past several years.
This 'SAV' looked nice and stout on 19" wheels and with a quite delightful Mineral White Metallic over Black Sensatec, a color combo I'm always a fan of! If you enjoy driving, then this is the "base" engine compact SUV for you, check the video out to learn more and see how the X3 does on the Tall Boy Test :D

Would you guys go RWD or AWD with the X3 ??
AWD no questions asked
AWD for an x3
AWD!
@@SeanGriffith7 fair enough partna
@@samiraescobar7222 I agree, but also appreciate that it’s RWD and not front.. at least for now
Appreciate your response. definitely leaning toward the X3. I do hope you get a chance the review the RDX soon.
It’s definitely on my list, just gotta get my hands on one!! 👍🏼
My boy Reo again haha helping me find the wife a mid size suv, came across a few of your videos already 🤙🏻🤙🏻
😂 gotchu!! Good luck with your search
wonderful review. thanx. I had X3 in 2003.
Thank you! Those 1st gen X3’s were special
Great review! Keep it up. Ordered my X3 30i m sport
Sounds sweet, good call on the M sport !!
Nice Jersey. I think I like your Jersey the most! Nice car too
Go Lakers 💜💛
Reoniz thanks for the review.
You got it!!
Great review man! I've been trying to decide between X3 and the Acura RDX. And while the RDX (Advance Package) has every conceivable options, I think the X3 is just a more solid car. Plus I've been seeing to many negative feedbacks on the RDX's 10speed transmission, glitchy infotainment and squeaky brakes.
Appreciate it! I haven’t spent more than maybe 5 mins in an RDX (as a passenger) so I can’t personally vouch on the brakes or tranny... but I would tend to agree that the overall build/feel of the X3 is superior. I can also only imagine that drive is also decently more pleasurable..... oh and ya... iDrive 7 is honestly the best infotainment in the industry IMO
great review!! I love my 2021 X3 :)
Thank you !! Congrats on the x3 😎
me too
I just watched 3 videos and am enjoying the insight. I would like to see other brands but the entry level luxury cars are appreciated.
Thank you! I'm definitely trying to diversify the content, rn it's mostly about what I have access to!
@@Reoniz I like the knowledge and insight you provide and would like to see more common cars like Honda and Toyota. I know people love entry level luxury cars but the common folk have to represented. haha
@@zennoodle I'll tell you what, both a Honda and Toyota video are dropping in the coming weeks.... but they aren't exactly "affordable"
Guess you're gonna have to wait and see 😅🤨
I like to think Reo goes to every dealership with 12 tallboys doing tallboy tests
Hahaha you know it baby 🤠
Wife has the 1st year (2018) G01 generation coming off lease soon, and I’m watching ‘21 reviews to see if there’s a true reason not to buy-it-out, and feel there’s isn’t - not much has changed and our X3 has been flawless🥰
I honestly feel very similar about it overall even tho I personally went from an old 330i to Alfa Giulia, so I considered the Stelvio over X3 (you totally forgot about that option) ..more fun to drive, but lacking in the refinement especially under the hood and the interior as far as the “lasting quality” ...our 3yo 3X still looks and feels the day we picked it up ...I had few other BMW and they age very well if you can afford to maintain them after warranty🤑
Not much has changed from 18’ - 21’ so I would just hang on to yours !! I haven’t had a chance to drive the Stelvio yet
I have the 2021 model with the newer digital dash & touchscreen (video on my channel)
I love your reviews! So between an evoque and X3 which one would you recommend? Thanks!
Thank you!! I think the X3 is the better car, but I also understand the Range Rover appeal of the Evoque. If you can swing it, the Velar is the one to have, if not, you can’t go wrong with a nicely optioned X3
Nice review
Thank you!
Exceptional
Appreciate you
I've narrowed down my choice for a new car to this or the Mercedes GLC300. Which one has better long term reliability? Thanks! Newly subscribed to your channel.
Ya know it's really hard to say, they're both pretty similar on that account... I'd let a combination of brand and price guide you on your decision!
@@Reoniz Thanks! I've had BMW, Acura, Cadillac, Audi and Jaguar before as sedans, but never owned a Mercedes. I think either way I'll be happy as long as it isn't in the shop every month.😏
@@irishman4671 hopefully not 😂👍
Great review! I am always jealous how affordable BMWs are in the states. I paid £47,000 for my 2l diesel 2020 X3 M sport and it would cost nearly £60k to get a 3l :'(
Ya I try to remember how lucky we are in that sense as often as I can!! In some countries 730i’s cost more in USD than a M760i costs here 😳
@@Reoniz It is nuts! I think I read Singapore is one of the most expensive places
I’ve heard the same!
@@thomastalks3841 yeah base model starts from 200k usd in Singapore
@@tianningkang8417 oh pricey
How do you feel about the auto start feature not being included as a standard feature or an option? This is a must for me.
The car DOES have both keyless “push button” start and auto stop/start (turns the car off temporarily at a stoplight) as standard! Is that what you meant or did I misunderstand your question?
@@Reoniz I meant being able to remotely start your car using the key fob. I know it can be done from an android device and but not an iPhone, which is weird considering it comes with Apple Car Play.
Ahh remote start! Ya I think that’s only available on the 3 series :/
@@Reoniz I just wished BMW would make this a started feature considering the price tag of the car.
I feel you
Does this car ambient lighting
Nope this one unfortunately didn’t have ambient lighting, it’s not a deal breaker, but a very nice party trick for only $250
It’s actually a lot more torque in the 330i sedan (255 hp/295 tq) than the x3.
You’re not wrong! I’m a huge fan of the B58 you get in the X3 M40i .... then again an S58 powered X3M Comp is the answer to all our torquey desires 😂😎
Is this the v6?
Smhhh
Does 2021 X3 support OTA upgrade
That’s a great question! From what I understand it does, but you’d have to double check
@@Reoniz The X3 produced in China was upgraded to ID7 last year, but it does not support OTA. It is a castrated version of ID7, which is completely different from the ID7 system of X5. I don’t know if this is also the case for the US production.
Hmm, I don’t think this is the case. I’m not 100% sure about the OTA, but the system otherwise seems exactly the same as the one found in the 3 series and X5!

330 has 255hp with 295 T
Correct!
