Microsoft Word remove password from protected form by Chris Menard

Many people create forms in Microsoft Word and use passwords. The problem is when you need to edit the form and you have forgotten the password. To remove the password from a Word form, just make the Word document a Rich Text Format (rtf) file. Open in notepad, Look for the word password (Ctrl F) and remove it. Close the rtf file. Open in Word again and save as Word file. Password will be gone.

This is only going to work on editing restrictions, not on password protected word documents, which you can't even open without a password.

You are correct. There is nothing that will open a password protected MS Office with a password.

I'm having all kinds of issues. First, when I click on Developer I don't see anything that says Stop Protection. I assume this is due to a different version of Word? Some third party apps claim they can do this, but I don't think it is possible. If you do decide to try one, make sure it is free and safe.

That is a different password. You can't break the password to Open file.

This will not work on Word doc that are password protected for opening. It only works on the forms.

great if you can open in read only mode. Doesn't work for encrypted/password protected to open the file.
If you can open it, just copy and paste into another blank document and save without protection
