If anyone is having issues downloading, make sure to download the second script with the F at the end of the file name. Also, there's a good chance the download servers are getting hammered with everyone trying to download it at once.
If it doesn't work, try waiting a little bit and try again.
Edit: Some ISPs are blocking the download. You can try changing your DNS to the Google DNS servers if you have issues downloading.
So basically if I have the "f" script, all I can do is wait?
I get a 32 bit version error.
My favorite is to force office 365 to an office 2010 pro key. It has worked to get free o365 and it will show the 2010 key in office 365 so it’s interesting!

Awesome, it's just exactly what I needed. I had been looking for a long long time for a free version like this. I only need Word and Excel for occasional use (just a couple of times a year) so it's not worth to pay a yearly fee for the full version of Microsoft Office. Thank you so much for showing the installation process step by step. You made my day 👍👍👍
It took me a bit (I'm old) but I got the 64 bit MS 365 uninstalled and this went like a dream. Thanks man!
I tried installing the Estonian (et-EE) version and it works after applying the update, like shown in the video.
Thanx for the video. When I think of the must have part of MS Office is Outlook email client especially if you have multiple exchange sever email accounts.
Worked perfectly, thank you
I prefer libre office myself as well, though I could see myself keeping this around as a "just in case" for compatability
It is compatible already. I use Libre Office for my school work and it works perfectly fine. I had no issues with it, and nobody even noticed that i use it. In fact, i even replaced the Microsoft Office on some of the school's laptops when i reinstalled Windows 10. So yeah, Libre Office is already great as it is.
I use MS office because of the search function it has. It allows me to find stuff without needing to look for it by myself. I tried Libre Office, but I was already too used to searching for the stuff that I didn't know where to look for.
Switched to LibreOffice myself recently. I used a 2013 or 2016 (something like that) version of Office I paid for for years. Recently it started misbehaving, wouldn't open correctly unless I did things very specifically. Normal troubleshooting steps didn't work, including uninstall and reinstall. So I went to LibreOffice, works just fine. Get bent Microsoft, I'm not paying a subscription for spreadsheet software.
i also use libre officei like my stuff being up to date personally. i dont want ms office even for free and was on windows. also a linux user so this is kinda pointless there.
@@dreamer8973 technically if you truly wish, you can run MS Office 2007 in Wine, it will work but you have to thinker a little bit in order to make it work correctly but at this point it's kinda outdated. So yeah Libre Office is better in this regard

Hey Rich,
Great video.
I ditched MS Office ages ago. I use Libre Office. I've tried Open Office, and I do agree. I prefer Libre Office.
Thanks again.
Open Office is just a very out of date version of Libre Office.
The developers left Open Office and forked it to create Libre Office. Open Office has had minimal development since then,

Interesting, thanks for this info.
Still works! Thank you !!! 🙏🏼
The video transcript provides a method to get Word and Excel for free, specifically referring to Microsoft Office 2010 Starter, which was an ad-supported version of Word and Excel that Microsoft offered for free. This version had some limitations compared to the full versions of Office. The method involves downloading an AutoIt script to obtain the Office 2010 Starter installer and related files, running the installer, and then applying an update to enable the applications to run. The transcript also mentions some warnings, such as the fact that Office 2010 and its Starter edition are no longer supported by Microsoft and may pose security risks. It suggests considering open-source alternatives like LibreOffice or OpenOffice if security is a concern.
Excellent info.
Many thanks, downloaded no problem, thank you.
Thanks so much 😂. Although it's an old version, but it still works great unless you need other advance features.

About the filename, "...2olew" OLE was the name of a core technology (I think they changed it a few times since), and W might refer to the -A and -W variations of the Windows APIs.

congratulations for this video, you are very smart
If you're a family, I find that a family subscription is the best way to go. It's quite cheap, and good for multiple installs for multiple users. I usually hate subscriptions, but in this case I make an exception.
I downloaded and have installed the starter version on several friends computers and they like it. If I remember correctly, the one limitation that I didn't like is that Excel Starter is limited to a single sheet. I still have the download and the update saved along with a notepad file of instructions on installation.
Could you post it for grabs? 👀
@@aarontheone7193 Sorry, I don't think I would publicly share the files. Besides, the script does pretty much the same thing and it gets the files from Microsoft. I just tried the script, without installing, and it downloaded everything so it should work.
As to the excel limitation, are you saying that within each worksheet you can only have one sheet (the tabs across the bottom that say sheet1, sheet2, etc.)? If so, that sucks. Do you know what other limitations there are?
@@diamondpainter16 I was wrong on the sheet limitation, but it doesn't have the ability to protect, or unprotect, cells or sheets. If you open a file with a protected sheet that has protected cells, you get a warning. You can open the sheet (if not password protected?) but you will not be able to remove the protections so you cannot edit cells with protection. I am sure there are other limitations that I have not noticed and of course it will be missing features from later versions. There are probably plenty of reasons to use something else.
@@schGjS one of the files I use the most you need a password to open. So I’m guessing it wouldn’t open?
Nice i missed that version and always needed to install office alternative to my customers pc , nice script download it now :)
Thank you. It's working.
Good video, Thanks. Next question is how do I hide the drive letter ?
Microsoft Office 2007-10 are my favourite versions. I personally daily drive 2007 (mainly docs and excel) for my uni assignments and with a USB on hand, it is easy to take around and is more feature than GSuite which I stopped using as of last year after 10 years.
that is cool it worked great job
You know, this is funny. Not only did Office 2010 Starter come free in Windows XP, Vista, and 7, but if you got an HP Z200 you actually got the CD for it, which I still have mine, though it's scratched all to hell and back.
I've never seen a CD for it. I never knew it came that way. That would be handy.
Why is it funny? MS wanted to give extra value to boot it's market long term, so it gave some software to make it more attractive for the user...

If you google word portable or excel portable youll find multiple sources for versions that do not require installation.
I have to admit I used to use Office a lot when I was at University, but they gave me a free licence whilst I was a student. But that licence doesn't work anymore :(

How can I install the version 22H2 for my laptop? When I try to update it, it always fails and gives me a "something didn't go as planned" and cancels the update.

What about the security risks of running office 2010? There has been no security updates for it for years! Maybe if your using it on an isolated system, but not on a web connected PC!
Love the shirt by the way.
My thoughts exactly !
I just got a new All in One windows pc. As you said, word and excel are preinstalled. If i try this, which I'm a little scared to do because i wouldnt know what nefarious files to look for in that script, do I need to uninstall what's already installed? I really don’t want to do that so I’m hoping there’s a workaround.
I've got a licensed version of Office 2010 which I purchased and can be used on 2 pcs. It isn't OEM, and can be installed on two PCs at any time eg my desktop and laptop. I have just got a new PC to replace my old one, and won't let me activate it because it says I have reached the maximum number of activations. It says I need to phone a number and enter it in manually. But it says that there is now no longer any phone number that can phone to manually activate it. . This appears be due to the age and it not being supported any longer, and there doesn't appear to be anyway to contact them.. Seems they want me to subscribe to their 365 subscription. I had the same problem with my older adobe cs3 software where they turned off their activation servers. So even when you buy software you can't use it for as long as you want it seems. Things were a lot easier when computers weren't connected to the internet.
The supposed Microsoft installation files are being downloaded over http and if one changes urls to https it then throws an invalid certificate error, so if one would download those files, especially through a VPN, there's a real chance of a Man-in-the-Middle attack, so the files can be swapped "mid-air" for some infected versions. If a good AV scanner flags those files while/after download be warned that they can actually be malicious.
Could not find recent version of Office 2010 Starter
Program will be exited
I'm still using Office XP (2002) as it suits all that I need it for. Part of it I confess is that I loathe the Ribbon interface in current versions of Office. Plus I confess I really miss Frontpage.
Couldn't agree more. Plus, the ever-increasing code bloat in each newer release with no reason. Actually, Office 97 was the last good IMO. 2000 had tuu much buggy behavior and XP had already somewhat screwed UI (While Windows XP was the last Windows to have a proper UI which was pinnacle of Windows). But all further versions were indeed worse and worse. Still like this video though, in case newer Office is needed for some reason. At least no-one should pay for such a crap.
Frontpage created websites that were only suited for Internet Explorer.
I agree. The older interface is much more customizable.
I got used to the ribbon with Excel but one problem with it is that it takes up too much space. Why can't Microsoft create a narrower ribbon as an option? How hard can that be?
Please keep in mind that these Office 2010 starter versions of Word and Excel do NOT support macros or VBA modules.
It's very limiting for me such as references and review options are unavailable. I frequently use them.
I have office 365 for 7 euro a month and 1 TB onedrive space, I love it.
You're paying for something that you can get for free if you use Libre Office. That's not really something to love. You're being ripped off.
Thanks Ronald. In a 3rd world country 7 euro’s is a significant amount of money :)
11:56 So how do you hide the drive in explorer? I don't mind that it's mounted, I just don't want it listed in the file explorer window.
thanks a lot man
Thanks. I still run my trusty old Office 2003, and found that if I installed a later version of office, even if to a new/different folder, the old version didn't work any more. Any idea if this will do the same since it runs in a virtual machine?
I also used Office 2003 with the old menu system that I prefer. But when Excel started to give me problems (by closing down unexpectedly), I had to use 2010. But 2010 won't let you have an older version of Office installed. So I installed 2010 first and then re-installed 2003 for Word. That way I can run Word 2003 for "doc" files and 2010 for "docx" files.
@@dkyrtata6688 Ah, never thought to install them in reverse. Odd that Excel was problematic, I don't use it a lot, nor many advanced features but have never had a problem that the reinstall/option to refresh(?) it in add/remove programs didn't take care of. And with the patches for the ....x file types, can open most, (all I've run across but I'm not in business world any more) of them in the 2003 versions just fine. I have more problems with Mac users sending their Pages format documents... :) Hmmm, I wonder if the latest Word can open the Mac Pages app format files?
@@richardwernstIn case you try to install Office 2003, I used a completely different directory path (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office 2003\OFFICE11) to minimize the chances of Office 2010 from finding it.
The next step was to associate the "doc" files with 2003 and the "docx" files with 2010 at the Windows level. I do not remember the order of which I did those steps. You'll have to experiment to make sure that the proper Word comes up for the type of file you double-click on.
Come to think of it, maybe all you need to do is associate the "doc" files with Word 2003 while everything else remains with Word 2010.
This is awesome
Thanks :D I had to turn on VPN btw to be able to downlpad this.

Hi I was wondering on excel can you still do amortization calculator on 2010
as they say if it works then its good and i dont think there is security risk if its not in windows itself and maybe just isolating office using firewall from getting online can help any security risk in all ways for office to be open wide
I have an origanal genuine office 2010 on a cd, Question can I install publishe from the cd on to office starter?
Sir, is there any chance to add power point to these word-excel starter pack?
This is perfect if I can get it to install, the thing is I have some hyper-v machines with server 2019, for some company's with their accounting software, and they have the need to export some reports in Excel, but the software only exports in Excel format if I have the Office/Excell installed, they don't use the Office/Excell in the server, it is just to be able to export, after that they copy the file to their local computer and do whatever they need. But I can't get this to install, gives me an error about something related to virtual machine and asks for Windows Vista SP1, running in compatibility mode doesn't do anything.
does this still work? Mine says counldnt find recent version then it stops.
