Max 117 just cause you can hit the ball farther doesn’t help you if you can’t time the pitch correctly which is the whole point of the astros scheme

even with sign stealing.....Max is right......teams change their signs every day!!! Just because you assume what pitch is coming based on a sign you see......doesn’t guarantee that’s the pitch you’re gonna get! 😏 Like Barnhart said in his interview.......pitchers and catchers have the capacity and should change things up to outsmart the so called stealing! Steroids is strength......body language and signs are simply a dam guess!

All of them have told me that once you reach the college level in competitive sports that’s when the juicing begins and by the time you get to the professionals everyone is on them. Hell, some even started in high school. HGH is undetectable, everyone is on that. Most new steroid formulas are formulated with the purpose of passing drug tests. Then there is sarms, stem cell, blood oxygenation, and other forms of enhancement. Players are 3x more enhanced nowadays. I’d bet my life savings on that.

You’re right it was never proven that either one used anabolic steroids, but we’re not speaking about being denied a Constitutionally protected right. They weren’t arrested, tried, and convicted for their use of steroids, which if proven they could have been because steroids are illegal. Why weren’t they arrested? Because there wasn’t conclusive proof, but there is certainly enough circumstantial evidence that they used steroids to deny them into entry into the HOF, which is not a God-given, Constitutional right. Pete Rose is just as deserving, if not more than either one of these two and he’s being denied for far less. I actually happen to be a big Roger Clemens fan, but I’m big enough to swallow my pride and admit that he cheated, which besides diminishing the integrity of the game, brings the validity of his pitching accomplishments into question.

When I hear that one team "steals" the other teams signals, I have hard time seeing it as a fault of the team that intercepts the signals, instead I see it as failure of the team sending in concealing them. I always thought that one good way to prevent this would be to have the catcher NOT conceal his signs but have the pitcher also openly send a sign and go with the pitchers sign occasionally. This doubles the possibilities that have to be deciphered, decided on and relayed to the batter within the same time restraint. I am not sure of the legality of using electronic devices but imagine if the catchers mitt had an on/off switch in the thumb and then pressure activated buttons in each of the the fingers, these can be tiny. The pitcher could have micro actuators in each of the four fingers of his mitt. The catcher turns his on, sends a code using the 4 different buttons to the pitcher, which he receives through his mitt. He then nods when he understands, the catcher flips the switch back to "off" (preventing unintentional signals) and the pitch is sent. Repeat as necessary. Completely discreet, the electronics would easily be built into the gloves and no chance to be intercepted. Making them multi-frequency would make the signal much more difficult to "block" or intercept by the other team and MLB could actually assign frequencies and be able to monitor this as well. The NFL uses radios in the quarterbacks helmets in which verbal messages are sent and received and that is accepted as part of the game so I dont believe including electronics as described in MLB should be an issue at all and would completely eliminate the problem of "sign stealing" very simply.

"Oh, was that why you and the catcher had a conference at the mound, to get on the same page?"

Yes it is. Steroids gives you an advantage in giving you a massive amount of hitting power and energy bursts, but knowing what pitches are coming completely destroys the game. With steroids you still have to have good hand-to-eye coordination to put the bat on the ball, but sign stealing is lowest of the low for integrity of the game. Guys like Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Jose Conseco, and Mark McGwire were natural talents and didn’t even need to juice up. That’s the sad part about it. With or without being juiced they can hit home runs. Stealing pitch signals is pretty much pitching to yourself and that alternates the games. Not only did the Astros steal a World Series, but tons of pitchers were demoted to the minor leagues, opposing team players and management were broken up, awards were ripped from opposing players, etc. This is deeper than a World Series title. The Astros gave the MLB a massive black eye.
I know it’s a massive rant, but the Astros as of now is cancer to the game of Baseball. They aren’t even remorseful.

The Astros not only cheated, but stole a World Series and MVP award from another team and another player. They destroyed the integrity of the game. The entire team was involved and even worse hardly any one was punished.

Juicing was awful, but is an individual player choice reaching outside the sport for their aid. This on the other hand is completely coordinated, systemic and far more sinister. Think about it, you need to pay a shady programmer/installer to put something INTO your stadium, someone high up in the organization has to turn a blind eye if not coordinate, and the players have to not only be approached (and risk blowing it all up) or go along with it. Not saying every player in their lineup was in step, or that it was used every game. But the infrastructure in place for this kind of scandal is far reaching and far more destructive to the trust of the organization and the game as a whole.

As an Astros fan I definitely don't condone what they have done. However, you might be very surprised, if you go look at the stats from 2017 and 2018. Their road stats were much better then their home stats the past couple of year. But in 2019 they were a better home team. Which is what makes the 2019 playoffs and even the world series that much more anomalous, as the road team won every game in the 2019 world series. So the stats might be a little misleading regarding their obvious cheating in the 2017 season and perhaps beyond. To be frank, what they did was obvious and egregious fucking cheating and I hate it! Because their world series championship in 2017 is forever tainted. But amazingly and surprisingly over the past few years, offensively they have been a much better road team. American sports are dying quickly lol NFL rules and refs are garbage. Baseball rules and umps are making it impossible. Basketball isn't as exciting as it was early 2000s. It's not competitive just a shooting practice basically. Soccer is growing rapidly because of these other sports problems.

I like soccer cause they actually want goals to be meaningful.

To be fair NFL regular season games can end in a tie (don't agree with that) but also goals in soccer are meaningful by default cause most games there aren't many scored.

Haven't watched or listen to BB in years. Once a great game to follow. Admired the natural talent and/or hard work at one time.

Ok so yes, stealing signs is legal in baseball, and is acceptable. The problem is stealing signs with the use of technology is where the rule breaks are. That's why it pissed off people

Theres so much cheating in baseball I just assumed every team was always stealing signs

thopkins22 so why is this one such a big deal? is it just the technology they got caught using?

The funniest thing about this whole situation was someone actually compared the numbers and the Astros hit worse at home, where they were cheating, than they did on the road

It was also huge because of the 2 teams it happened to.
The 2017 astros, 101-61, WS champs
The 2018 Red Sox 108-54, WS champs.
    Two 100 win teams,
Also alex cora who, i remember you, was the bench coach for the 2017 astros and the manager for the 2018 red sox

At 6:23 the guy says "this is all anti-steroids people's fault". How? He didn't elaborate on that. I strongly disagree.

It is worse and can you imagine if Bonds ,McGuire and Sosa knew what was coming....they would’ve hit 150 HRs a season.... the steroid era in MLB was actually great for fans and I loved it even though I don’t necessarily agree with it but it was definitely a great time in baseball

Considering that sign stealing including with the aid of technology has been going on for over 50 years constantly. I would have to say no. And it act like it's that big of a deal when it's just another layer of strategy to change your signs as just kind of silly

We got to Oakland Stadium during the first or 2nd inning. As I was walking down the stairs from under the canopy to our seats... all of a sudden Mark McGuire Launches a shot that was like a rocket taking off... I was just blown away.,.. it was unreal... then Jose Conseco steps up and hits another one just as far... i swear it looked like it Launches off the bat... then it almost pauses then the after burners kicked in and it takes off into outer space...

The A's hit 260 Homer's as a team , most in franchise history , and the A's have had some power in there history. Also the Yanks & Twins hit a crazy amount of homers too

For football it’s to tell the whole or middle linebacker the play or if they want to change up the play. For baseball it’s to let the player know the pitch the pitcher is possibly throwing. Which isn’t written in the rules, but is still considered cheating.
