Looking at the strikeout graph at 6:40 and it reminds me so much of the analysis of the Patriots fumble rate compared to other teams back when Deflategate was big. Honestly insane to think nothing is going on.
The problem with Deflategate is that the “data” the league tried to push out to convict the Pats was taken so haphazardly that it can’t be used to prove anything. Different gauges, different times, different procedures for handling Indy’s balls, and the nail in the coffin-the fact the NFL didn’t publish the results of the “season-long” study of psi through a game/season. We will never know if the Pats deflated footballs during the playoffs and/or regular season unless Brady at some point comes out and admits it. You can’t take bad data from one game where the League was trying (clearly they were) to nail the Pats and say that correlation = causation. There’s plenty of reasons why the Pats fumble rate for 2014 would be less than other teams: 1-no “home run” RBs, they used RBs to wind the clock and in certain yardage situations, not to have Kareem Hunt break 7 tackles on a 79 yard run 2-outside of Blount all their RBs were pass-catching RBs, better hands less fumbles 3-you had TB12 as your QB, you’re going to run less when you have the GOAT, less pressure on RBs to “make a play” and 4-training, yes-all teams practice ball control, BB just isn’t going to carry anyone who isn’t secure. Maroney and Ridley were both exciting RBs who got cut for ball security issues.
Someone in another video posted Kershaw’s stats at home (or at other parks, I forget) and then at the Astros’ park His stats basically double when playing the Astros
This is a horrible hitting team that cheated and became World Series winners. If that isn’t fucked up then I don’t know what is. And they never stopped cheating. These guys all need to be kicked out of baseball for life. This is far greater than betting on and throwing a game. They’ve ruined baseball for the past 3 years.
cjr1881 agreed! Shoeless joe Jackson got banned for knowing about the white Sox scandal, not telling on them and didn’t participate...everyone involved on the astros needs to be banned for life.
@@dionysus122 stealing signs isn't cheating. It's part of the game, that's why all catchers and coaches use indicators, to let the pitcher, base runner of fielders know which sign is the right one. Btw, you're not supposed to trust the other team; that's your adversary, not you're lover.
@@wattsrecords1734 Stealing signs using CAMERAS is cheating. Having a baserunner on 2nd try to pick up on the signs is completely fair game because he's already in a spot where he can see. Using cameras is just stupid and unfair because it takes the strategy out of it when you can just have a room of analysts decipher the signs after 2 at bats and kick a trash can so their team gets an unfair advantage.
Charles Szasz Best pitcher of all time? LOL. Not even close. Sounds like you’re an Astros fan living under a rock until September 2017. He’s the best pitcher the last 2 years maybe. He may not have even been in the hall of fame conversation until he came to Houston. Nolan Ryan is arguably the best pitcher of all time and I bring him up specifically because he pitched for the Astros for 9 years... The Astros even retired his number. Did you forget about him or were you not even aware of his existence? 😂
Verlander is very very good, but not the best of all time. He’s up there, maybe top 20. But I think this depends on the age of the person ( or persons) who think this. No disrespect, but if the 50 yr olds were asked they’d likely mention Clemens, Seaver, Big Randy, and others in that group. 30’s or so would not be wrong in voting for Verlander. It’s simply a generation gap, that’s all....
Of course. He cost the Astros a 3-2 lead in the World Series and he complaining about "juiced balls" instead of taking responsibility of why he is giving up so much home runs throughout the season.
6:20 Astros were already above .500 in ‘15 and ‘16. It wasn’t like they went from 100 losses to 100 wins in a single season. The insane strikeout rate change was no coincidence.
Y'know the irony of the Astros' cheating gongs is that their World Series hopes ended in a gong from Kendrick's foul pole hr. How freakin poetic is that!
Yanks are likely going to be in as much trouble or more soon though. Tons of info showing they used the YES network to relay signs and spy on dugout/bullpens of opposing teams.
I thought Cole was the worst teammate ever for wearing the Boras hat in his postgame, but maybe he was sick of being on a team that does this kind of stuff.
mcisco9 As an Astros fan, I am livid. How stupid can they be? How did they not think they would be caught? And it’s no longer a question of who on the team knew because it’s so obvious that pretty much all of the players were in on it. As someone who’s been a fan for my whole life this just pisses me off.

@@aidanflynn2037 I mean, nothing wrong with cheering for the home team *when you have no clue*. That he's claiming now that they didn't do it is plain ignorance, and there's no way to fix that.
6:35 is so damning. I was thinking cheating helped the Astros some, but now I see it helped the Astros A LOT. They were 14th in strikeout rates in 2016, and then suddenly 1st in 2017. Other teams cheat too, but the Astros EXCELLED in cheating. I was so impressed with their success story and analytics, but now I see a large part of it was simply cheating. This taints their trophy and their players, bc they were in on it. I agree with Jomboy that the Astros continued to cheat in 2018 and 2019. MLB needs to crack down on this problem.
Road splits say otherwise. Still the best team over the past 3 seasons. Throws all that out the window now that they cheated. MLB just needs to ban Lunhow and Hinch. Force the Astros to clean house. See if Crane had any knowledge and then from there decide what to do in terms of fines, draft pick loss etc.
As an Astros fan, this is so disheartening. It does seem true and that makes the Astros success much less important. Astros don't deserve their praise anymore
Because people were saying that was Altuve hall of fame moment when he walked off Chapman to send the Astor’s to the world-series,that would be a shame
To be fair, making that statement in the first place is a massive insult to Altuve. And that's coming from a Yankees fan. While I'm not a fan of the guy by any stretch of the imagination, I do like that Chapman has started throwing more off speed stuff. But when you can't hit the broadside of a barn with your signature pitch & it gets you behind in the count time and again, there is no need for technology. The batter can just sit on an off speed pitch. He still needed to come through in the moment, but that shit was practically gift wrapped to Altuve by Boone when he let the at bat continue.
Iceberg86300 I just wanna know before I can condemn Altuve or not ,wouldn’t you like to know..they are tainted now. They made the bed and now they have to lay in it
@@Greenhead24 for sure!!! I just wanted to add a little bit of perspective for that particular situation. We don't really know what, if anything, was going on in 2019. But even if they were up to shady shit I'm simply not going to nullify the Yankees loss. The Yankees were caught as well, and I'm sure other teams are, or have, pulled similar shady shit. But yeah, they seem to have been caught red handed & whether they deserve it or not, there is one guaranteed consequence: all accomplishments during this period have become suspect. For me, the current asterisk is nowhere near what the roid heads have, but it is an asterisk nonetheless. I really hope a lot more details surface, that's for damn sure.
That's probably the worst example to accuse the Astros of cheating. Everybody and their mother knew Chapman was gonna throw a slider there, no technology needed. Not to mention the pitch before that was a slider right down the middle and Altuve didn't swing at it.
@Vinnie Provolone True, the guy's a legitimate talent as his breakout season came at 2013 and he won couple of batting titles before the cheating began. However because of this, people will no longer look at him the same way again and I agree with them.
Just saw the cbs interview congrats man good for you for blowing up I have been enjoying your content for a while now and I love it keep up the good work.
This is amazing research. Sad that a team with that talent had to resort to this. My opinion of this whole thing has swayed quite a bit since the news first broke.
These last three seasons I have been a bigger Yankee fan than I have ever been. I really felt we were gonna do it in 2017 but we came a game short and it makes me sick that the Astros cheated. When we got Stanton we improved like crazy as predicted in 2018. It didn’t help that we ran out of gas in the playoffs and the Red Sox were outstanding. Now this year after we swept the Twins and dominated game 1 in Houston I thought it would be a cake walk... but no. The offense ran out of gas and we lost in 6. But now after hearing the Astros might’ve cheated this year too I am sick to my stomach.
having no salary cap amd spending tens of millions more than other clubs is the same as cheating. Yeah its not a rule, but thats why every other major american sport has one. Because its only a level playing field if all teams can spend the same.
Not a cake walk at all. We took game 1 in Houston and nearly took game 2, we then proceeded to shit the bed in games 3 and 4 back home. I'm in the minority here when I say that the recent allegations against the Astros don't excuse our incompetence in the home games we had.
You won't. Go look at their road/home splits. The KBB is consistent. Wasn't a very good argument on JomBoy's part. I mean, certainly you would imagine it to go up some but it probably won't be all that much.
@@claytonpeloquin9821 I get what your saying, but what im saying is that their road KBB and K9 were consistent with home. So while I imagine they will strike out more, it won't be anything crazy. They will still lead the league in fewest strikeouts.

Try this one: All of the best players and managers and assistants got sucked up by the Astros winning 2017 and 2018 seasons (because obviously the had to have cheated in 18 too /s). Who wouldn't want to join a winning team? So that meant fewer competent employees for the Cubs to pick up. Those dang dirty trashtros ruined the league and your 2019 season.

1:45 They literally found a picture of some Astros employee installing a tv in that location. Houston’s been telling on themselves this whole time.
Love your coverage of this. Sent your last one covering the initial story to a friend who hadn't been following it and it caught him up nice and easy.
Those 67 dislikes are from Astros players who have enjoyed the perks of cheating lol.

This is on some Black Sox level stuff. Life time bans shouldn't be out of the question here.
Lost all respect for the Astros and the Astro’s players
Someone in another video posted Kershaw’s stats at home (or at other parks, I forget) and then at the Astros’ park
His stats basically double when playing the Astros
And Kershaw prob thinks it’s because he always chokes in the playoffs. Might be able to salvage some of his confidence back
Bad example cause the average fan will allude to kershaws postseason struggles however I did hear the whistling in the 2017 WS, so trash of the Astros

Should compare their strikeout to walk ratio at home vs on the road.
The Astros are cursing Jomboy right now
Not a yankees fan, but it is pretty great the story picked up traction due to a die hard yankees fan on youtube.
Big Time. And you just know Ken Rosenthal will be black-listed by them.
Visiting batters at Astro’s park should walk out to Ace of Base “ I saw the sign”
Haha that's jokes

Glad to say The Ticket Sports Radio in Dallas gave you a shout out and told people to look you up to view the Astros videos.

Stealing signs is as old as baseball. Where do you think indicators came from?
"Everyone cheats. It's a part of life. Deal it and don't get upset." Is that what you say when your wife/girlfriend cheats on you?
@@mayitakeyourhatsir8632 oh boo hoo. Teams should adapt, change the signs, change the indicators, evolve the process to get ahead of the technology.
Astros just hid altuve under the mound

Nick Sosa for a split second I thought this was Facebook and tried to react with a laugh 😂
They sure buried his bat in Game 7.
I'm surprised the out spoken VERLANDER hasn't spoke on it he speaks on everything else
He isn’t even close to the best pitchers of all time. Not even in the top 15.
Charles Szasz What does velocity have to do with anything? Also, I can name like 15 guys with better stats than him.
This is the one time i will agree with a Yankees fan, great video
Yanks are likely going to be in as much trouble or more soon though. Tons of info showing they used the YES network to relay signs and spy on dugout/bullpens of opposing teams.
Greg Fakerson thats what I said
From this day forward, I am NOT an Astros fan. I wasn't before, but I'm still not a fan.
@Lil Naive Damn dude really? Wishing death on other peoples pets? Jeez...
Why does jomboy not have at least 5 million subs?

The astros keep stealing his subs.

Not enough people like baseball, despite Jomboy attracting a decent chunk of people who don't like baseball. It's dying that much.
His channel is very new
I thought Cole was the worst teammate ever for wearing the Boras hat in his postgame, but maybe he was sick of being on a team that does this kind of stuff.
Most likely, he’s a pitcher so he probably really didnt like it
As punishment the Astros will have to go back to being the Astros.
They should be forced to become the Montreal Expos... that's punishment enough.
James Brown youppi is too good of a punishment though
Missed the perfect time to say Asstros

mcisco9 As an Astros fan, I am livid. How stupid can they be? How did they not think they would be caught? Next time you get a traffic ticket for speeding, tell the patrolman everyone was doing it. How will that go?
6:35 is so damning. I was thinking cheating helped the Astros some, but now I see it helped the Astros A LOT. They were 14th in strikeout rates in 2016, and then suddenly 1st in 2017. Other teams cheat too, but the Astros EXCELLED in cheating. I was so impressed with their success story and analytics, but now I see a large part of it was simply cheating. This taints their trophy and their players, bc they were in on it. I agree with Jomboy that the Astros continued to cheat in 2018 and 2019. MLB needs to crack down on this problem.
JOMBOY FOR NOBEL PEACE PRIZE
Plain and Simple: The Houston Cheaters Aren’t that good after all.
Sean vasquez they’re good, they just aren’t THAT good
All baseball teams do this but most aren’t stupid enough to get caught.
It is legal to steal sign but is not legal to use a camera to steal signs
Road splits say otherwise. Still the best team over the past 3 seasons. Throws all that out the window now that they cheated. MLB just needs to ban Lunhow and Hinch. Force the Astros to clean house. See if Crane had any knowledge and then from there decide what to do in terms of fines, draft pick loss etc.
Jomboy. You my friend are already a legend. Thank you for all that you do. I may be a little bit drunk right now but still...
And I have spins from the Juul, sheeeeeeeeeiiiiiiitttt.
Jomboy becoming the expert on the Astros stealing scandal. Heard you on wfan this morning! I'm glad your getting recognition. You do a great job!
As an Astros fan, this is so gut wrenching and hard to watch unfold
Ur team are assholes.
As an Astros fan, this is so disheartening. It does seem true and that makes the Astros success much less important. Astros don't deserve their praise anymore
I don’t know why but when you talk serious things like this I still find you very funny😂
The yankees got caught cheating against the red sox hypocrite much?
having no salary cap amd spending tens of millions more than other clubs is the same as cheating.
Stanton is a waste of money.
I still can't see how these people thought this was ok, no sanctions can be tough enough, pure and simple cheating in the worst way
Jomboy triggered whole city of Houston and Astros fans😂😂😭GOod Job👏👏

Rich Eisen and Jayson Stark referenced Jomboy's video early this week. Much respect bro. Love your content
Can’t wait to see the Astros strikeout rate greatly increase next year.
You won't. Go look at their road/home splits. The KBB is consistent. Wasn't a very good argument on JomBoy's part. I mean, certainly you would imagine it to go up some but it probably won't be all that much.
Iceman i mean, it’s gonna be significant. Go check out what MLB network had on tv today. First sign of them banging was may 2016.
@@claytonpeloquin9821 I get what your saying, but what im saying is that their road KBB and K9 were consistent with home. So while I imagine they will strike out more, it won't be anything crazy. They will still lead the league in fewest strikeouts.
I am a longtime baseball fan (Yankees) and watch 162+ games a year. This makes my blood boil. If MLB doesn't do something drastic I will never watch 1 more inning baseball....
As a cubs fan, I’m trying to find some way to use this as an excuse to justify our horrible season
As a fellow Cubs fan, I'll join you in this search for an excuse.
We got one though. For me, it doesn't really matter anymore.
There’s film out there where you can clearly see altuve and springer looking out to the bullpen before the pitch. Also, there is film out there that you can clearly hear someone whistling the “charge” chant consistently
Oakland has managed to find a way around this. You can’t hear one trashcan when everyone’s banging a trashcan.
Vacate the 2017 title and lifetime bans for the most directly involved people. Anything less and teams wont be disincdntivised from doing this again.
Absolutely no chance the title gets vacated.
@@CardiacCat20 I think your right because Manfred doesnt have the balls. I just think that is what needs to happen given the extent of this all and how blatant the Astros were about it.
