Diana gave these performances as "Ermine," a character she brought fabulously to life on 2023 _The Masked Singer_ , where she gave some of her greatest ever performances.

Greetings from Scotland! This was Diana at 18yo. She is 20yo currently but I've been following her career since she was around 13yo. Diana is a natural Dramatic Contralto so the lower registers are her comfort zone but she has increased her range even more since this. She also naturally sings with polyphonic overtones so it sounds like many voices at the same time! Any song, any genre, in any language, Diana can sing it and improve it! You need a little back story to understand what helped "create" this unique phenomenon:-
Diana's birthmother had multiple miscarriages but when Diana came along, she seemed to hate her. She verbally and physically abused her, trying to drown her and belittle her. It all culminated when (at 3yo) a passing relative found her in her home with a broken collarbone and several other injuries. She went for the authorities who removed Diana from her birthmothers care and placed her in an orphanage. For almost 2 years Diana never gave up hope and she knew that she was meant for something better. (This story is in her Wikipedia entry) Finally her new mother (Irina Ponik, who worked as a masseuse there occasionally) Signed her adoption papers and took her home. She vowed to pay Irina back for her kindness. Irina had a real struggle because Diana had obviously been badly affected by the experiences and at 5yo, she had a very bad stammer. It was recommended that she be taken for singing lessons to help this and immediately it was recognised that Diana had perfect pitch and an excellent ear for music and songs. 1 year later, at 6yo, Diana was performing solo on stage!
This young unique phenomenon sang everywhere and anywhere she could, working constantly to earn money for the family who rescued her. She was already winning every contest in Russia and other countries that she could get to. Then at 14yo Diana took part in an amazing Russian project "You're Super!" for abandoned/disadvantaged children (because Diana spent time in an orphanage) The 1st song she performed shocked the judges and audience so much, it went viral. I’ve hear this cover about a trillion times, especially reactions by professional singers and each time I see how brilliant is this girl and her teachers as I realize each note has been studied and deliberately worked to achieve a specific effect.
This girl is my favorite artist and thank you SO MUCH for such a good analysis and facilitating this Russian wonder to Western audiences. ❤

I agree that professional opera singers have a particularly developed sense of harmony and know what a large symphony orchestra can produce. A while ago I joked that Diana had swallowed a synthesizer. In addition to the incomparable dramatic contralto with pronounced polyphony, which goes from unimaginable power to velvety softness, Diana already has a pure soprano, and with this arsenal, she works wonders! Added to all this, the huge soul, human kindness and sense of humor, we have a unique artist who spoils the audience and is loved by millions around the world. Great reaction, great comment! You have several options for your next Diana experience, you can go back in time to see her at the age of 14/15 and witness her masterpieces on the vocal competition "You are super" that made her famous, everything is top notch but i recommend her cover of "Wicked game".
You can continue on this competition which is her first adult appearance on TV (age 18), she performed some insane pieces like this one, i recommend the song "ворона" which means "Crow".
Or you can jump to today and see her at the age of 20 more powerful than ever singing the main theme of the movie "Dune", the main theme of the movie "Baikal" or singing the song "The day you...".
Diana is just 20 but she has so much material to see and listen already and everything is top quality, chills are always guaranteed, because people do not call her for nothing "the Queen of goosebumps".
To go back and see her all way, it would be good to start from her “oh, darling” at age 10, then voice kids at age 13, then “last dance” on the “You are super” tv show, and then all other stuff

Diana is my favorite artist. Thanks for reacting to her. She is able to captivate you and make feel however she intends. One of her greatest performances on a talent show called YOU ARE SUPPER is a song called RECHENKA. It is so different from anything else I have ever heard. She was 14 years old at the time. RECHENKA is an ancient Russian folk song. Amazing for someone so talented at such a young age. She also did a great job on WICKED GAME also.
I love Wicked Game, it's like an ancient forest spirit is pissed because she didn't want to fall in love but someone played nasty games with her heart; I rather enjoy the undercurrent of "HOW DARE YOU"

I discovered Diana just late last year, on a RUclips short that piqued my curiosity. It specifically highlighted the final belted section here. I was not prepared for just how much depth she has with her tone, which totally blew me away. In no time I was checking out as many vids and performances as I could find. And far as I know she is the first Dramatic Contralto I have ever heard. The general consensus is that simply no one else has a voice like she does.

This song was my first experience of this vocal phenomenon. She completely blew me away and since has easily become my all time favorite vocalist and have been listening to her and following her since. These are "Wicked Games", "Dornier Dance", "Rechenka", "Human". If you want to dig into her work further after that, it's easy to find 10-20 songs from a later period.
