I tried to use the code but it wouldn't let me. I did buy theR255+ with a sale item so maybe that is why. Just a quick question for those who have bought this. Extending the fence past the bed with the rack and pinion seems really rough and hard to move is that the same for everyone else? Also, the saw height adjust gets very juddery when lowering it to its lower heights.
Many thanks for the review. I’m looking to upgrade my Triton workbench and I now have a thorough overview of the Evolution. The flexibility it affords over my circular saw based setup at a reasonable price is a winner. The way you presented this video showing all the alignment checks, available adjustments, along with the achievable outcome of this table saw is a credit to you. Also pleased that you pointed out some shortcomings. Regards Steve.
I wish I had known about this table saw before I bought my Parkside table saw. I can complain about my table saw all day long, a great vid really informative. It won my subscription 👍
By far the best video on this saw I have seen. I am currently researching table saws. This model was and still is after watching this video, top of my list. A like and a Subscribe inbound.
I want one of these, though I doubt I'll ever be able to use it. I'm a bit on the old side of life. But the things available now-if only they had them when I was working for a living. I have used other Evolution machines and they are very good, particularly the blade. Good review.
Amazing video with attention to detail, and great camera work throughout. My new 255TBL+ is still in the box for now and this video will be SO HELPFUL to me when I am building the unit. Subscribed and video saved for reference. Thank you so much.
My first ever tabl saw. Your explanation on set-up is better than the instructions that came with it, especially the safety guard and mitre attachment storage (no mention in the instruction manual at all) The stand I was a nightmare to put together and my saw is not stable when in the folded position. Haven't used saw in anger yet but will check all the calibration items you covered before the first cuts. Great video, thanks.
I really enjoyed the video and even though I've had mine for 3 weeks I've learned about the reset button something I hadn't noticed. The saw is a bit louder than my last one but that is the only con. I have made a zero clearance insert from a video I saw on casual DIY. I made mine from mango wood and I made the tabs at the back of the insert from metal held by a screw and apoxy and it works really well. I also bought 3mm grub screws with sprung loaded balls from temu and drilled and tapped the mitre bar and this has taken up the play in the slot. I have extended the fence by bolting a board to the aluminium fence which also solved the wobble problem you mentioned. I have done all the checks and adjustments you have shown and the saw is now as near perfect as I could possibly want. I am now waiting for sliding track nuts to fit a clamp to the sledge mitre slot. Thanks again for a great video that covered everything in great detail.
Excellent video clearly explains every aspect of the saw it’s really helped me set mine up correctly Ive watched every video on this saw but this is the only one that addresses how to get the blade at a perfect 90 And 45 Thank you so much Looking forward to your future videos.
@@SplitbarkStudio it’s helped me immensely thank you I watched every video I could find on RUclips and the evolution web site and didn’t find one as clear and instructive as yours I struggled for weeks with my blade set at 89.3 degrees not knowing if or how I could correct it As a last resort I was going to call evolution customer support But then came across your video And now I have a perfect 90 And a perfect 45. So you have my support 100 and 10 percent Again Thank you.
That was probably, no, definitely the most in-depth best review of anything wise I’ve ever seen! You missed nothing! You really went through the tour rather than your ego (that’s not a reflection on you is a reflection on other people doing RUclips videos, thank you very much Wishing you good things always.
Very nice review. I was sold on this saw for my hobby shop. That was until I realized you couldn’t purchase it in the USA. only their older model. I was bummed for sure. I love the rack and pinion feature for adjusting the angle. So much nicer than others. Great feature the sliding table although honestly a cross cut sled would be better. The other feature that’s nice is their blades. You can purchase blades to cut almost anything. Keep in mind the RPM of this saw is slower so you can cut metal. I have a 16 inch miter chop saw of theirs and couldn’t be happier with it. Super fast and accurate cuts. Again a slower RPM. I spoke at great length with a customer relations fellow who was simply wonderful. I’ve been told that they will have this in the states in around a year. Couldn’t wait that long so I bought a Skil saw. It’s a wonderful saw as well. Just wish it had the rack and pinion angle adjustment. Other than that it’s perfect for the money. Good job young man 👍🏼👍🏼.
Probably one of the best review I have ever seen, very well explain and filmed. I’m looking forward for buying this table saw, the one I’ve got is a peace of garbage
I couldn’t help myself and ordered this saw today, I think I got a good deal, for approximately 530€ I got the saw with the stand, a 60 thoth blade, the evolution R210CMS miter saw (was included in the price) and a evolution T-shirt. Thanks again for your great review and hope you have great holidays!!
the issue with the plastic ends on the mitre gauge facing the wrong way, is pull 'em out and put 'em back in the other ends the other way round... simple. Great review thankyou, its on my Xmas list
You could even drill holes for the locking screw down the mitre slot. Taking out the stop bolt isn’t the best idea coz you’re likely to forget to replace it.
I can honestly say I've just bought this saw with the stand (I pre-ordered it in September with a stand for £330), after doing some research between this and the rutland, mainly because they both had a rack and pinion fence but what swung it for me was the sliding mitre table, the outfield support at the back and the mobile stand. Now I've used it a couple of times, including ripping down some 3x3 posts, I'm really happy with my decision. I will be changing the blade and saving the stock one for cutting different materials. I found this video really useful, especially the tip about the mitre table. Thanks.
Got one of these table saws today. I couldn't find the Allen key for the throat plate levelling adjustment until I watched your video. I cant find the plastic pipe for sending the sawdust into a bucket either, not sure if it comes attached to the saw or supposed to be in a box. Not a big deal as I will be using a dust extractor.
Okay. I watched the video. And for me, It's a money thing. I've have never owned a table saw in my life and wonder, as a long standing DIYer in my 70's, whether I actually need one or not these days. Although, I can see that the features on the table saws will make life easier and quicker for you younger guys. I have been working with wood since I was a young kid. At 11 years old at secondary school, I started doing woodwork lessons. The first smell of cutting new wood and having my own bench and tools has never left me. I must have saved thousands of pounds over the years, and learned everything I know by trial and error, or word of mouth. There was no RUclips there for me, back in the day. Sorry, I digress. I think I will cancel the order with Santa and make a flip table saw box with my circular saw. As for Santa, I'll get myself a new jigsaw. No, not the woodwork type, a 500 piece one. And probably some new bedsocks now it's getting cold. Take care and enjoy the journey of life. You never know where it will take you.
Re the 45º cut and the sliding table getting stuck, does it work if you set the mitre to the opposite 45º instead? Or does the table not slide far enough back?
I imagine it can as the wood can get closer to the blade, but if you're confident enough you can just unscrew the bolt under the saw to release the track for free access. Just take care that you don't push the whole sled off the track though
The most informative video I've seen on this table saw. It is something I've been thinking about, upgrading my old ryobi table saw. It's been serving me well, but it's getting tired (bit like me, really). I've wanted to incorporate a table saw into a workbench, and I think this will do the job well. Just need to save my pension up and bit the bullet and invest in a new one. I love the evolution tools. I have an old evolution R5s mitre saw even though it has a broken back fence its still serving me well. I will keep looking for a replacement second-hand fence, but so far no luck. You have a new subscriber, so keep up the great videos, look forward to catching up on your back catalogue.

I've spent the last couple of days setting up my +model with the stand. First impressions weren't great TBH, it's taken a lot of calibration and fiddling but it does cut very nicely even with the stock blade. Biggest disappointment was the fence, like yours mine bows and there isn't much adjustment to square it too the table. The mitre fence is awful and I doubt I'll ever use it. I picked mind up for just £320 which is kind of what it feels like, if I'd paid full price which is nearly £120 more I think I'd be disappointed. But it is pretty good overall. Good video
@SplitbarkStudio I like the stand as I can shift it around my garage easily. I think it's 70 quid or so on its own which feels quite dear but a lot of Evolutions accessories are on the expensive side. Like I said I got an amazing deal so I'm very happy
Regarding dust collection, the blade looks well enclosed below the table, but what happens when the blade is in a lower position? With a lot of saws this creates an opening between the underside of the table and the top of the shroud; this allows a lot of material to be thrown forward towards the front of the saw, fouling the tilt mechanism and making a mess on the floor.
I think I know what you're referring to, the rutlands does this every now and again and blocks the tilting mechanism. This saw has a fabric pouch which surrounds the blade/shroud which directs most of the dust down towards the dust port. There doesn't seem to much space for the dust to go other than towards the port. This saw hasn't clogged on me yet.
What's the point of the silver bolt (the one without the spring) on the crown? All it seems to do to me is restrict how high the crown can go. I removed it but not sure if thats an issue?
I've done exactly the same, I don't bother with the bolt anymore. I'll be honest i have no idea why it's like that. I don't think it's a safety issue not having it though
My issue with this type saw is that sliding miter mechanism on the top. Seemed to me like it'd be a useful feature but there's too much play in the slider making it imprecise for miter cut... making it impossible to the external miter guage as well on the left. The design isn't like the panels saw design using actually bearing and rail design. Looks like this new one has a better fence design except it's plastic for the rack and pinion.
39.23 I planned to install a blade for wood immediately after buying the saw, but after seeing this I doubt whether this is a good idea or not. Can a blade for wood improve this cut?
The blade is pretty good at cutting everything, but if you're only cutting wood and want better cross cuts it might be worth getting a higher tooth blade. I use a 40T and it works well for me.
@SplitbarkStudio I suppose irs because I am a proffesional carpenter with a small workshop and these type of saws are the ideal size, I have had a bosch which motor burnt out with light use, record power cabinet saw whose rise and fall mechanism just continually failed now I have another bosch whose rise and fall has failed with not a very accurate fence. I mean my workshop use over z year is probably about 4 months I use all the machines respectfully and maintain them Well, but it seems the very things we need bullet proof like fence accuracy and rise an fall mechanisms nobody seems to be able to get right on these compact saws.
A most enjoyable video I have the rage 5s which is a great table saw but I must admit the changes that Evolution have made to the new saw is superb the real thing about this saw and the rage5s is that they both take the same blade as the miter saw r255sms of which cuts costs as you only need one type of blade for the both pieces of equipment I’ve also subscribed to your channel

To fix the fence bowng in, since it's hollow I'd try cutting a piece of wood of appropriate thickness to slide inside to push the walls out.
